Not receiving email to my .Mac alias's in mail.

Mail in my new Mac Book Pro is set up just like my Powerbook next to it, however mail coming in to my alias's is missing from the Mac Book Pro.
Mail is set up exactly the same. What could cause the Mac Book Pro but not the Powerbook to loose these emails in cyberspace?
Thanks

Are you sure it’s just the messages sent to the alias? Could it be that your .Mac account is set up as POP on the other computer?

Since I updated my iphone to I0S6, I am not receiving email on my .mac account.  What's wrong?

Tim, I was speaking generally. Obviously the iOS upgrade didn't remove the ability to charge on ALL 3rd party devices, else my iH9 wouldn't charge it either.
What I just can't understand is how an old iHome model works just fine with a new iPhone, yet a new iHome model will not. If anything, I would think it would be the other way around.
Anyway, I emailed iHome explaining my situation and I asked if they had planned on releasing a firmware update to fix the problem. I got the typical generic response about unplugging the iHome & removing the batteries for an hour then trying again. And if that doesn't work, send it in for repair in which I would need to pay for the shipping.
If I decide to go that route, I think it's just going to be a waste of time as I would get the iHome back "repaired" and it would have the exact same problem. But I guess I'll never know until I try.
I remember reading on these forums about several others having the same problem. So what are the odds that the iHomes these other people got who are experiencing the same problem are problematic as well? Unless the "repair" iHome is referring to is a firmware update, I don't really buy into this.

  • One Yahoo! mail account does not receive email sent from .mac

OK, this is an odd problem, and any help would be appreciated.
My girlfriend's Yahoo! mail account does not receive email sent from my .mac address. If I send email from my Gmail or Yahoo! accounts she receives the message. No one else has informed me that they haven't received email from the .mac address. Additionally, the .mac account is in her address book.
Anyway, has anyone seen a similar pattern with Yahoo! or any other email provider?
    Thanks.
    - Jennings

Thanks for the reply . . . and yes, the recipient's email provider likely holds the answer.
However, I was hoping someone here might have had a similar experience and could answer as the email provider is Yahoo, and they are slow in responding to help requests . . . for a period I hosted a personal, paid website through Yahoo Domains and help tickets lingered for several days on multiple occasions (this being the reason the site is no longer hosted by Yahoo). I also doubt Yahoo will expend too much energy resolving a problem for a free email account.
Anyway, I posted in the Yahoo mail forums, and hopefully something will come-up . . . .

  • Not receiving emails (with rules) from hotmail on my Mail

Hi, i have recently set up my Mail on Moutain Lion, adding a Hotmail account.
i can only receive the emails sent to my hotmail inbox.
However, those with rules applied, ie those sent directly to the hotmail folders , cannot be received on my Mail.
Pls advise and thanks in advance.
    alvin

You do not have a virus. What you do have is an incompetent service provider.
I suggest you first try to locate the problem.
With Mail running, click Window in the menu bar and select Connection Doctor. The new pane will tell you the name of the account that is not working.
For the next step you have to know the password for your mail service. This is not the same as the login password for the computer. Do not try this step if you do not have the password.
Click Mail in the menu bar, select Preferences, and click Accounts (second icon from the left). Select the account that is not working, and click - (minus sign). That will delete that account.
Now click + (plus sign) and follow the directions on the screen to create a new Mail account. As you do this, the computer will tell you if the service is working.
    Good luck.

  • My Mac is not receiving emails, but my iPhone receives emails. How can I fix this?

I have a MacBook Pro Retina with OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. I recently tried to send a large file through the iCloud email drop. The email stayed in my outbox for a day and made my email app extremely slow. The email never sent, so I deleted the email from my outbox and restarted the program. Now, my email is no longer receiving any emails. The same email account on my iPhone receives emails, but my Mac email program will not receive emails. I've restarted the program and the Mac, but nothing has resolved the problem. Any suggestions???

  • HT3376 I am not receiving emails in my Mail account.  However, I am receiving them on my web based yahoo account and on my ipad.  The other strange thing is that on my Mac, I have been receiving emails from Apple.  How can i fix this problem?

I am not receiving email messages in my Mail account on my Mac OSX.  However, emails are being received on my ipad and my yahoo web site.  Also, all emails from Apple are going through in my Mail account.  How do I fix this problem?

Well, the other person said theirs was working now. On yours let's try this...
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may or may not exist.

  • I'm not receiving emails from 2 specific domains to my .mac email. Both have the correct address and I don't have any rules set up. Anyone know why this is happening?

I'm not receiving emails from 2 places. I don't have rules set up and both senders have the correct address. The messages aren't in my junk folder either. This is for my.mac account. Anyone know how to fix?

That just sounds like the mail headers. Most people don't know (or care) about them so they're usually hidden.
Check Mail -> Preferences -> Viewing -> Show header detail
I'm guessing it's set to 'All'. Switch it to 'Default' or None as you prefer.

  • New ISP - not receiving email

I have a relative with an eMac running 10.3.9. She recently switched to a new ISP and is not receiving email in Mail. She has to use web mail to retrieve it. Sent mail goes out ok from Mail, web-surfing works. She revised the account information in the previous email account in Mail, typing in the new email address, password and server info. I believe the problem is that she should create a new email account in Mail and disable the old account (archive and delete). Any ideas to resolve the incoming email issue? I will try my idea tonight and report whether it works or not.

    Hi RarelyDan,
Welcome to the Apple Discussion forums!
You may wish to try the troubleshooting tips found in Apple's Mail Help:
"If you can't receive email, try the following:
    ▪ Send yourself a test email. The mail has to go out through your outgoing mail server and back into your incoming mail server. This is a good basic test of your account and server information.
    ▪ Make sure your computer can perform other Internet tasks, such as opening a webpage. If not, choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Network. Choose Network Status from the Show pop-up menu. A green dot indicates that you are connected to the Internet or a network. If you aren't connected, go to the Finder and choose Help > Mac Help, then search for "Connecting to the Internet."
    ▪ Choose Mail > Preferences and click Accounts. Verify your account name and password. Your account name will usually be either your email address ([email protected]) or the part of your email address to the left of the "@" (tclark3). If your Internet service provider (ISP) lets you access your email via a web browser, you may be able to verify your name and password there. If the same information does not work using a web browser or your ISP doesn't offer a web-based mail option, confirm your user name and password with your ISP or network administrator. Remember to type your email password, not your Mac OS X user account password or ISP password (if different).
    ▪ Find out if you can reach your incoming mail server from your computer. Open Network Utility, located in Applications/Utilities, and click Ping. Ping is a simple network testing tool that shows whether a server computer is running and can be reached from your computer. Type the mail server name (such as mail.mac.com) or IP address in the address field, and click Ping. If you see 10 repeating lines, then the server can be reached. If you see a message such as "ping: unknown host bogus.apple.com," then the server is either down or unreachable.
    ▪ Mail works with the following account types: POP, IMAP, .Mac, and Exchange (only if configured as an IMAP server). You can't log in directly to Hotmail, AOL, or any service that does not support POP or IMAP access, and retrieve email using Mail.
    ▪ If you have an IMAP account, it may be placed "offline" if Mail can't access it. Choose Mailbox > Online Status. If you see the choices Go Online or Take Account Online, connect to the Internet, and then choose Mailbox > Online Status > Go Online.
    ▪ Make sure there is no firewall software blocking email traffic. A firewall works by selectively blocking network traffic. Mac OS X has a built-in firewall, which you turn on and off using the Sharing pane of System Preferences. Open System Preferences and click Sharing, then click Firewall. Make sure your firewall is off.
    ▪ You may be affected by another firewall, either software installed separately from Mac OS X or built into an Internet sharing router, or administered by your ISP or network administrator. Contact the appropriate person to find out whether a firewall may be in place.
    ▪ If you have changed options (such as Use SSL or Authentication) in the Advanced pane of your email account preferences, check with your ISP or system administrator for the correct settings."
post back if still no luck or you have additional questions or comments,

  • User not receiving email / corrupt database?

Much like another recent post, I have a user that can not receive email the emails just sit in the queue.
The error on those messages is "[[email protected]]: temporary failure"
    Here are the twists:
    1) We had a power spike a couple of days ago. The user's UPS failed and his machine lost power completely. He rebooted and everything else was fine, but he has not received an e-mail since then.
    2) When looking at the list of users on the Server Admin > Mail > Maintenance > Accounts screen, the list in the database stops at the person BEFORE this particular user. They're alphabetical, obviously, so everyone after this person are not listed at all - 13 total missing accounts.
The kicker is that the rest of us are still receiving e-mail normally!
    Thoughts?!
    Details:
    Mac Xserve running 10.4.11
    Dual 2GHz, and 2GB RAM
Keep in mind I am NOT a born tech person, have a mild to moderate comfort level with a command-line prompt, and no native intuition for any of this.
    Thanks!

I'm the consultant that fixed MNX04's server, but it took several attempts.
the Cyrus reconstruct command failed to resolve the issue, and even removing the user using cyradm, and re-creating them in Workgroup manager didn't fix the problem.
Pterobyte's mailbfr utility did the trick: mailbfr -f, wait awhile for the repair to run, and all was well.
I'm grateful for all the help pterobyte has given to people on this forum, but it concerns me a little bit that the Cyrus utilities built in to OS X server can't fix this sort of problem. (However, this is the first time I've run into a problem with OS X mail servers that the Cyrus reconstruct command couldn't fix.)

  • TS4083 not receiving email

I am not receiving some emails, including those I have sent to myself from another email address. I have looked in my jink folder, nothing.  Some regular emails arrive, but when I send myself something from my roadrunner account, nothing.  The roadrunner account does send successfully to gmail.  I worried that I'm missing other emails as well.  Anybody have this problem?  Ideas?

My .mac address is again receiving emails from Roadrunner accounts almost immediately. ( I'm on RR Austin.)
There are several other threads on this topic, most people seem to have recovered service, althought some emails that are several days old are still trickling in.  Some people report still not receiving emails from RR accounts.
Both Roadrunner and Apple said they were working on the problem as of Sunday/Monday, and I think they found the cause of the problem. Perhaps it takes some time to work its way through the entire system.

  • Not receiving emails on iMac, iPhone 4, iPhone 5 and macBook Air.

When we purchased our MacBook Air a couple of months ago, we could not receive emails. We have spoken with Comcast and they made sure our settings were okay on their end. In my screwing around on my iMac password, we now are not also receiving home emails. We are set up in iCloud.

    Hey there Wolfeden6,
If you are still unable to get your email on your iPhone, and your iOS devices, I would first recommend using this article to help with your Mac Mail program. It walks you through using the Connection Doctor to help diagnose the connection issue.
OS X Mail: Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages
And for your iOS devices, this is the article I would recommend:
Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
To make sure that you're connected to the Internet, open Safari and go to www.apple.com.
Log in to your email provider's website to make sure that the account is active and the password is correct.
Make sure your settings are correct using Mail Settings Lookup.
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Tap the affected email account.
    Tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • Not receiving emails from a certain address

Myslef or my wife, both of which have icloud emails, are not receiving emails from a relator business. We are able to send emails to them, they receive them, but on their reply, we don't get them. I have tried adjusting the spam filters, to no avail. The realtor is able to send email just fine to my work email, but not to either of our me.com addresses.. why would this be? Does anyone have any ideas? We receive email just fine from many other sources.. however, who knows how many emails we haven't received because of this.
    Thanks,
    Brian

I am having the same problem not getting emails from 'some' people to my me.com addresses.  I can send and they receive but I don't get their replies.  If they cc my yahoo.com address I do get them there.
Tonight I tried to get 2 free songs from this band http://www.thelimousines.com/ .  I tried all variations of mac.com and me.com but never got the download song link.  On a whim I tried using my yahoo.com address and I got a reply immediately.   Something is wonky.  If you figure it out please post it here.  Thanks

Just FYI, everyone here is just a fellow user. .Mac employees provide no technical support here and probably never read any of these posts. If you want to contact .Mac support, you need to fill out and submit the form on this web page. When you fill out the form, provide as much detail as possible - the most important items will be the domain(s) (i.e. someplace.com) that the problem emails are being sent from.
    Good luck.
