Not receiving group iMessages/texts

First off - i know there have been lots of threads similar to this.  I've looked through those and tried the suggestions, but to no avail. I'm still left with the same issue.
I've switched back and forth between my iPhone and Android phones for a couple of years or so and never had any issues with iMessage - until iOS 7.0.3.
Since 7.0.3 i have not been able to receive any iMessages/Texts from friends while in a group chat on my Android device.  I can send them and my friends receive them, but i cannot receive from them.  I get individual texts/iMessages fine, just not group and only when it's from an iPhone.  I am able to receive group messages from Blackberry, Android and Windows devices.
The catch.  I gave up on iPhone and officially jumped ship to the Moto X before 7.0.3 was released and i COULD get group texts before 7.0.3.
Here is what has been done.  BEFORE switching to the Moto X, i deactivated iMessage on my iPhone AND on both of my iPad's.  I made sure to also uncheck the phone number and my email addresses BEFORE deactiviating iMessage.  Also did the same with Facetime (not sure if that matters or not).
I have unregistered the iPhone from my Apple profile/support account.
I have deleted all iPhone numbers from my iCloud contacts.
I have tried 4 different Android messaging applications.
I have the correct settings in Android.
I have called Apple and had them remove my phone number from iMessage.
I have made sure that my friends (one is actually my wife so i even did it myself on her phone) have it set to send SMS if iMessage is not available.
I have deleted my contact from my wife's phone, my wife's iPad and my wife's iCloud and then set it up again (as a mobile and not as an iPhone).
I've even called Verizon and Motorola both who believe, as do i, that this is an Apple issue since it only started when my friends installed 7.0.3.
I've ran out of ideas, and ran out of places to go since Apple's support only had the one suggestion which was for them to remove the phone number from iMessage.
I'm open to anything (except going back to iPhone since that would mean i need to splash out on a new phone again).  However, i do have an iPhone 4 in my house that i could use if need to TEMPORARILY activate to do something else.

I left words out while i was typing in a hurry.
I was saying that the friends of mine who are using the iPhone, have told me that other Android users that they group chat with, are also unable to receive group messages from them.
I think i have been able to narrow the issue down, after spending more time with Apple and with Verizon.  Verizon had me text STOP to an Apple Short Code, which resulted in about 40 texts from my wife being delivered via the open group chat that we have with our friends.
To test that this resolved my issue, Verizon initiated a group chat from two test iPhones, which also resulted in success.  I was also able to successfully group chat with 6 other groups of friends all with iPhones.  I did the same test with a mix of Android and iPhone users too, with success.
Where it failed, was with the original couple.  I am still unable to receive group chats from them, while my wife, who is in the same chat, does receive them.  I do however, get the texts from my wife in that group chat.  Very strange. So i am thinking it is something with their devices and not the fact that i switched from Apple to Android.
The progress today, after a few weeks of frustration is that i can now receive group chats from everybody i would regularly text with (android or iphone users), except this two people, who happen to be the one's i group chat with the most.  They are iPhone 4s users on Sprint.

    Greetings cooltj64,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with iMessages being received via email. It explains how to change where and how your messages are received:
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
On iOS devices, find out which addresses are enabled with FaceTime and iMessage by tapping:

  • My Revolution Not Receiving The Whole Text Message

Hello, lately I have been having a problem receiving the whole text message. People with smart phones text sometimes page length texts. I have no problem sending out page length text, but when someone sends me one, from many different companies and phone types, I only receive what the phone recognizes as the first part of the text message.
    An Example is:
"Hello, I was wondering what you are doing later. I was thinking we could go to the shopping later at the mall. Do you ha"
I primary text people so when I do not receive the whole text it is very frustrating.

It's lies that you haven't received any other complaints on this issue.  1) because I have called repeatedly on this exact issue among many others with this phone and 2) here are some of about a dozen posts on this:
    https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/876695#876695
    and another:
    https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/875860#875860
    and another:
    https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/875820#875820
granted some are recent, but if you search your forums you will see plenty.
You used to and still state that you never hear of any of the many issues with this phone, including when it would randomly reboot.  Same phrase, "we have yet to hear of other cases with this device."  Bull...
I too will be heavily considering leaving Verizon after over 10 years of being a customer not due to an LG phone sucking this bad, but your company's repeated refusal to acknowledge our concerns and treat us like we are ******.
Like your master reset phrase above.  So you think that computing devices need a fresh start anytime something goes wrong is just not correct.  If that were the case every time I have fragments between nodes in a clustered server environment I'm supposed to factory reset them?!  NO, you debug it and get it working correctly!  This issue is fragmenting withing your sms/mms delivery system, so fix it!  As a sysadmin for a scientific super computing institute I guarantee I know more about computing devices than you ever will, and I can say your workarounds are asinine and only prolong your customer's issues with a clearly defective device.
As with this, although not your manufactured device, it is something you sell and therefore you debug these issues across your network or give those of us that can the ability to do so, but alas another locked boot loader and if we were to root the device to mitigate these issues then we screw our self by trying to help our self.  It's always our fault, as we must have done something wrong.

  • Not receiving every iMessage in Messages on my Mac

    Hello,
So, I am not receiving every iMessage in Messages on my Mac, but I am receiving most of them. I'll literally be looking at my iPhone, and I'll see new iMessages come in, but when I am on my Mac to reply in Messages, only some of those iMessages show up.
In other words, I'll be in the middle of chatting with someone in Messages on my Mac, and only some iMessages within a conversation that I'm in the middle of having are coming through to my Mac, but yet they're all going through to my iPhone.
There is absolutely no consistency or pattern to this behavior, otherwise I'd be able to diagnose this better. Clearly, I'm signed into iCloud, iMessage, i-every-single-thing under the same exact Apple ID, and every iMessage program on every device to set to start new conversations from the same account. So, the users receiving my iMessages would logically just reply on their device within the same conversation which I had started.
This issue happens with every single iMessage user that I'm chatting with on my Mac, and this only happens in Messages for Mac. It's simply not consistently receiving every iMessage from users that I'm in the middle of a conversation with.

    Hi,
As you are wireless on the Mac can you do the following.
Hold the ALT key down whilst selecting the Wifi icon in the Menu Bar.
Select the option to do Wireless Diagnostics.
It will do the analysis first then offer to Monitor the WiFi connection.
Set this going and it should work in the background unless there is a problem.
Sometimes there can be "mini breaks" in the WiFi service which are not long enough to drop a connection in some app but can show up as longer pauses to access pages in browser and the Mail app not fetching new mail on time.
In messages if you have other account that have Buddy list and chose to display them you can sometime find that they Log out and collapse to read "Disconnected".
However the iMessages account gives no indication whether it is logged in or not  and may actually not be logged in now and then.
Whist the above is plausible it is more likely that is is an issue at the iMessages server and as the Mac is a different app to the iOS app and there differences in the way the Servers sends iMessages.

  • TS2755 iMessage not receiving as normal text after leaving Wi-Fi

When I start a conversation with someone in a Wi-Fi zone, with iMessage turned on, it send in a blue bubble. When I leave the wifi zone and keep the conversation going its turns green, the problem is that once I leave the wifi zone in a iMessage started convorsation I wont receive texts until I re-enter a wifi zone. How can I change this? Turning off iMessage doesn't seem to help because I will receive some messages but not all. until I get in a WiFi zone.
Note: I don't have a data plan, just unlimited text messaging.

Your note explains it all. Without a data plan you cannot send imessage texts and others on imessage cannot send you imessage texts. They will time out and eventually send as sms. What puzzles me is why you don't have a data plan on your phone? Without it your phone is just a plain old dumb phone.

  • I'm not receiving group text messages anymore on iOS8.

    Hello Apple,
I am involved in a group message through my Messages application. While I was using iOS7, I would receive those texts, but from the individual numbers of those users, not one group. When I would send a message to all of them together, trying to start a group, my message would only be received by the individual numbers, and not from the group.
Now that I am running iOS8, I have not been receiving those messages at all.
If anyone could help, that would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you have group messaging enabled in settings

  • Iphone5 MMS: older phones not receiving group messages

This discussion was started here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5178260
Iphone5, iOS6.1.4, Verizon. Brand-new phone I bought a couple weeks ago. So its brand-new, mint condition, untouched.
My phone number was ported from AT&T to Verizon. No problems as far as I can tell.
I've been sending group messages, not realizing more than half of my friends/family were not receiving them.
1.My aunt lives on the other side of the country and has some kind of smartphone(not iphone) and she's been receiving them just fine.
2.My mother has a normal cellphone that is several years old AT&T, but she has only being receiving the subject line of the message. When she tries to "retrieve" the message, it always says "failed to retrieve". She has no problem getting text messages from everyone except me.
3.My brother has a different model of a normal phone and he is on the same AT&T plan with my mother and he is able to receive my group messages.
4.Some other friends with older phones and AT&T are not receiving the messages at all.
So it's been very hit 'n miss on who can receive these group messages.
I turned off iMessages first, then I finally turned off MMS Messages, and my mother was finally able to receive a group message from me.
She has always been able to receive an individual message from me with MMS and iMessages turned on. This is strictly a group message problem of some kind.
I was only sending her messages with text content, but the group messages always say MMS at the top regardless of what you send. I'm assuming turning off MMS forces group messages to use SMS.
Why is iphone not able to degrade gracefully with a group message? Why can't it detect older phones in a group message and say "hmm...maybe I should use SMS, especially since the iphone is sending a message with text-only content anyway."
It's really irritating that I have to either, remember to send INDIVIDUAL messages to every single person, OR keep MMS turned off just so older phones can receive a group message.
Has anyone else had these kinds of problems, and if so, what did you do?
I feel like the problem is on my end(Verizon) rather than my friends' end since so many of them are not receiving MY messages. They are receiving everyone else's messages.
    Facts:
    1. INDIVIDUAL messages work. (MMS is turned on.)
    2. SMS-ONLY GROUP messages work. (MMS is turned off so SMS is forced.)
    3. MMS group messages, even with text-only content, are not being received by some people, others are receiving them just fine.

iMessages is not the problem. None of my friends have an iphone so I haven't been using iMessages at all.
The problem is SMS vs MMS on group messages. For some reason, the default for group messages is MMS, even though the contents I send are only text. My mother and some of my other friends cannot receive MMS messages, but they can receive SMS messages. (I don't know if its because their phones are too old or because of their specific txtmsg plan with their provider.)
So she automatically doesn't receive messages when I send them as a group instead of individually because they always send as MMS simply because they are GROUP and not because of the contents of the message.
Why do group messages always send as MMS instead of SMS?
I turned MMS OFF, in order to force group messages to always use SMS, but then the MMS setting turns itself back ON the instant I send an individual MMS to a friend who can receive those types of messages. Once MMS setting is back on, I don't realize it and send out a GROUP message, which doesn't reach everyone because once again MMS is being used instead of SMS.
If group messages would send as SMS when I am only sending text, then there would be NO problem. It shouldn't use MMS unless I'm sending a picture or something.

  • Not receiving group messages on iPhone 6 plus after updating to iOS 8.2

After updating to iOS 8.2 I suddenly stopped receiving group messages on a thread of which I was previously a part. Apparently they can see my texts, but I cannot see their replies. Tried rebooting. Switching messages, group messages, face time, and phone itself off and on. No luck. Single messages have been sent and received. Seems contained to group.
    IPhone 6+, 124 g. ATT

spent some time with Apple support today. Go into settings and sign off of your Apple ID in iMessages and FaceTime. Power off phone and restart. Log back in using Apple id in iMessages and FaceTime. seemed to work for me for Now. Hope it helps.

  • Not receiving verification pin texts from web services.

I know there are currently issues happening with imessage, but I thought that was for people who switched to Android.  I have and always have had an iphone.  I did recently upgrade to 5s from 5 and also made some changes to my service with Verizon.  I am now having issues with not being able to receive any texts from certain friends.  Also, I do not receive any texts from companies trying to send me verification pin numbers such as Google and eBay.  Any ideas?

Yep.  Verizon fixed it for me.  Apparently there were some text blocks set on my line for some bizarre reason.

  • IPhone 5S not intermittently not receiving or sending text messages

My new IPhone 5S is frustrating me. Sometimes I am not receiving Imessages from others using Verizon IPhones - they have to retry and eventually they send the message as regular text. Sometimes when I IMessage these people, I too, get a "not delivered" error and must send as text. I just received my IPhone end of February and am seeing this occur a frequently
Also contacts on Androids from other carriers sometimes have the same issue occur - they do not receive my text messages or I do not receive theirs. Not all the time but intermittently. Can someone please tell me how to correct this. I have cold started the phone numerous times.
    This is very aggravating!

The first thing to do is contact your carrier and make sure your account is provisioned properly.

  • People are not receiving all my texts and viceversa

I just changed this week to the Galaxy Nexus from a 3G phone. Before I had no problems with sending text messages and pictures through stock messages but with the new phone, several of my messages are not being received in the other side. It appears that it has been sent but they just do not arrive. Same with some messages and pictures they send me, some just do not reach my phone. I changed from stck sms (android default) to 3rd party (Handcent or something) still, i do not receive some messages... anyway, same problem. Is this a 4G problem? a Samsung problem? or a Google problem? Is being resolved?
Is worth to mention that the person I send most sms is on a Metro PCS blackberry, but still I had no problems with my android LG Ally before. Just after I changed to the Nexus. What is the problem here? how do I resolve it?
    Thanks,

Stito85, thank you for your post. I certainly want to make sure we get your text messages working. I have not seen this issue as a known issue on the Nexus. Is this happening with different people? Are you using any special characters, graphics, signatures, etc in the messages that do not send? Try deleting your SMS thread with the number it is happening with mostly and try sending text messages again. If the issue is still occurring, we may need to submit a trouble ticket to our network team. In that case, we'll need the dates and times that the messages were sent and from which number so we can further investigate.
Let me know if you need additional assistance.

  • Iphone 4 not receiving pictures via text

Is it possible that if I'm using my phone (not calling, but just doing stuff) that I can't receive a picture text?  A friend sent a few pictures while I was not using my phone and I received them just fine, and send a few others and I didn't get them, but I happen to have been using the phone (not calling) at the time they were sent.  We can't figure out why I didn't receive those other 2 pictures, only can think since I was using the phone.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I spoke to AT&T Directly, and they said that MMS was disabled on my account. they enabled MMS on my account again, and that solved my issues!
