Not recognizing charger

Recently, when I put my phone on the stock charger, I am getting a message that the phone does not recognize the charger.  When I switch it to my G Patd charger it is fine.

    Good day, bigp77.
I want to make sure we get everything taken care of for you ASAP. When did this issue start happening? If you look at the actual charger is there any kind of physical or liquid damage to it? Is there any lent, dust, or any of the charging pins look damaged? Please keep us posted.

  • IPhone 4S not recognized/charging after iOS 6.0.1 update

    Hi,
I've upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 6.0.1 when the updates became available on my handset and everything seems to work fine until I plugged it into my iMac for some late-night development with XCode. It wasn't recognized/charging at all. At first, I thought the connector cable was faulty, but using the provided Apple charger and the same cable, charging was working....
This morning, when arriving at work, I upgraded an iPhone 4 (the previous generation) to iOS 6.0.1 and plugged it into my work iMac: Same issue.
It seems that upgrading the iOS version to 6.0.1 disable synching/charging on my iMac.
    Verified on:
    - iPhone 4 + iMac 27in Mid-2010 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2
    - iPhone 4S + iMac 27in Mid-2010 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2
I have no iPhone 5 available yet, so I cannot verify it, but it seems that something is amiss.
    Beware of iOS 6.0.1!

    Let's do a little recap:
    - Do not detect in iTunes/XCode on my iMac Mid-2010 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (Both 4 and 4S)
    - Do not charge when plugged-in on my iMac Mid-2010 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (Both 4 and 4S)
    - Soft Reset from the phone does not work (Only tried on iPhone 4)
    - Hard-Reset from the phone does not work (Only tried on iPhone 4)
    - DFU Mode will not trigger the iTunes. (Only tried on iPhone 4)
Perhaps it is not widespread, but it is annoying. Especially when the iPhone 4 is my work phone and I need it to deploy/test my App before submitting to the App Store!

  • Iphone not recognizing charger

My iPhone 5 stopped recognizing the charger about a week ago unless I shook it around or flipped the charger (the part that goes into the phone). I took it to the Apple Store, where an employee removed some lint and claimed it would work. Unfortunately, the problem has persisted and just today it stopped recognizing all of my chargers. My iPad recognizes them and my phone doesn't work with other chargers either, so I know that the problem is not the chargers, but the phone. What should I do? My warranty ended in October (I've had an iPhone 5 since October 2012, had to replace the original in February 2013)

        Hi GrannaJean,
Oh no! My sincere apologies for the issues with your device. We definitely want to get your device charging properly. Have you attempted to utilize another charger for this device? Have you taken the device to your local VZW Store http://bit.ly/3SdsA for evaluation? Please keep us posted, thanks!

  • IPhone not recognized/charging from laptop

I just tried to connect my iPhone so I could dump my video via Image Capture to my laptop & my iPhone will not charge when connected or recognized my iTunes or Image Capture.
I know both USBs are working because i hooked an external drive to my aptop and it was recognized right away.
Any ideas why this is happening & how to fix?

A few thoughts, in no particular order of things you can try:
Do you have the most current version of iTunes (8.2) ?? It's required for the 3GS.
Try resetting your iPhone, then try syncing again. Reboot your computer, try syncing again.
Try doing an SMC reset (google your mac model and how to do an SMC reset) and perhaps a PRAM reset as well.
Reset your iSync -- it's in your Application folder -- go into iSync, Preferences, click on "Reset Sync History" let it do it's thing, then close out of iSync and try syncing again.

  • Ipad not recognizing charger nor computers

My Ipad does not recognize my computers therefore I cannot reset all contents and settings from Itunes. It does only recognize the charger after holding down the home and sleep buttons but on the right top corner I read "not charging". When I put it to sleep it charges and have 100% charge in the morning.
I've tried several times the procedure of holding down simultaneously the home and sleep buttons while connecting to the computers but zip, nada! Neither Itunes or the computers recognize Ipad. No probs what so ever with Iphone.
My question: do I dear reseting all contents and settings from the Ipad menu and expect it to connect to the computer? I'm far away from home in a country where Ipad has not yet been introduced so I'm a bit aprehensive about the procedure. But because Ipad charges when restarted I'm beginning to think it's a software issue and it MIGHT connect to Itunes after reseting everything from the Ipad's reset menu.
This issue began after updating a couple, three apps the same day I discovered the problem so it makes me wonder...
    All comments are welcome! Thanks

I'm posting this in hope of potentially helping others with the same problem if it occurs.
Although none of my computers recognise the Ipad, it will actually start up after turning it off when connecting the usb cable to a computer but that's it. Still no recognition. I'm starting to think it's not a hardware issue.
So i'm building up the courage to reset all contents and settings from within the Ipad's general settings to see what happens. I've just found an authorized Apple service center in Sweden who has agreed to take in my Ipad and exchange it for a new device if they identify the problem as being hardware based.

  • E7 not recognizing Charger

I recently had to get a Nokia E7 as a replacement to my N900 which died and no longer stocked. My E7 has worked fine until recently, when I took it to a trip (keeping it within the UK) when I noticed it would not charge properly. It would say my charger (the wall charger which came with it, not the USB data cable) was a USB device it could not recognize! After great effort, I can get it to charge eventually, sometimes with it playing nice, sometimes it'll still say it doesn't recognize the USB device but charges (the charger plugged to the wall). This can happen both after an empty battery and when trying to charge it while there is still some charge in the phone.
    Anybody experienced this at all?

got my Nokia E7 last year and after 3 to 4 months it was not charging well with the charger but charging with the data cable on the computer. It could charge with the charger when I plug the charger at an angle since it is loose in its port anyway. So I thought that is the port has worn out but confusing because it is too early for that. I continued to charge with the data cable which is very annoying because it take a long time until 1 day the battery died and data cable could not charge when the phone is off.
I took the phone to nokia care and they didn't manage to switch it on too and they took it for repairs under warranty. They told me that the problem is with the software which manages the USB/charger port. I would like to know how true is this statement.
They repair the phone and told me that they change the whole motherboard with the new IEM no. I reckon that Im using a new phone after repairs. Now after some couple of months again Im back to the same problem. My sister and my friend is using E7. They also experiencing the same problem.
Please help. Now I need professional help and How is Nokia gona solve this problem because I didn't read about a lot of discussions like this one and I found out there is a lot of people around the world having the same problem. Im in South Africa.

  • IPhone 5c not recognizing charger/charging?

I've had my 5c for about 3 weeks, and its seems like its not charging properly, at least when connected to an outlet. It runs out of battery (frequently I might add), and shows the "charge me" icon of empty battery and charger plug. When I plug it in the empty battery picture stays for a bit, and then the screen goes black. Touch the lock button, and the picture returns. I've had it on the wall outlet for about 4 hrs this evening and I couldn't even get it to turn on. When I take it off the charger, it tells me that is out of batteries again. However, when I plugged it into the computer, it immediately turned on and said 99% battery.
(Note: Everything in my house is apple, but this is my first iPhone) Is this an actual problem or is it user error?

I thought about that,  I tried multiple cables and the problem occured on them all.  It seems to be hit and miss when it recognizes the charger being connected.   If it is the cable that is at issue then it is a problem that Apple is responsible for,  all the cables are Apple Branded ones and at $30 a cable it is getting expensive.  A great money making machine for Apple.   Never had any problems with the old 30 pin cables on the iPhone 4 and 4S and those cables are still working.
Incidentally the issue still occurs with a brand new cable I bought though it seems to be more hit and less miss with that one and the problem is also occuring if I use a 30 pin dock with the adapter attached to that.
I'm tired of spending on Apple Cables and it makes buying an Android device more appetizing every time I have to chuck away another $30 + Sales Tax.  In fact the cable that came with the iPhone came apart in the first 14 days of owning so I have been a regular buyer of Apple Lightning cables since I bought the phone.

  • Iphone 5 not recognizing charger or USB to computer since 6.1.2

I did the update to iOS 6.1.2, the phone was charging at the time.  As soon as it installed the update my iPhone 5 stopped charging and will not recognize any chargers, won't communicate with any PC's.
I tried clearing and reseting the iPhone, that has not fixed the issue!
Right now I am down to 30% charge and by tomorrow I will have no phone service because the battery is quickly going flat.   Wi-Fi access is at a snails pace.  I've never had it restore settings and that portion to be estimated now at 26 minutes and rising.  I have extremely fast internet and it's only ever taken a very short time.
I cannot be the only one with this problem, surely?

  • Ipad is not recognizing charger

In just the last couple days I have found my iPad no longer is reconginzing connection with the 30-pin connector.  This results in an inability to charge the device.  I have been through different computers, chargers, and cables (several).  I know this started within the last couple days as I still have 33% charge left on the device.
I don't see any connection to the device from iTunes or through Xcode, and have yet to find a related log report to a failed connection in the Console.
I have tried, soft power downs and cold restarts of the iPad.  Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for what might be the issue?  (I am an hour from any Apple Store, so it is not just a quick visit to go there).
The device is going to become a brick if I can't get it charged - which would be sad as I don't see any other issues with it.
    Thank you.

Try a different cable. If that doesn't work, then you shoudl find time for that drive. Occasionally the 30 pin USB does die. It happened to mine. I took it back to Best Buy and they ended up exchanging it for me, but it's nothing user servicible.
So if you're replicated it with multiple cords, multiple computers and multiple chargers (multiple meaning more than one ) then the problem is likely your iPad, and as long as it's within that year's warranty with no obvious signs of abuse or damage, it should be covered under manufacturer's defects and replaced.

  • S5 not recognizing charger

I haven't had any problems with my phone charging. Now, all of a sudden today it says it doesn't recognize the charger and shows a red x  in the battery. I turned it off to see if it would charge that way and nothing happened. The charger is the one that came with my phone. It will charger if I use the charger from my husband's S4. What could be wrong? Maybe need a new charger?

That's pretty strange, ashhintol. If the phone is showing the charging symbol, the charge percentage should definitely move up. Since you are able to charge it fine with the S4 charger, that certainly indicates something with the charger itself causing the malfunction. While it's rare for something like this to happen, that's why there's a manufacturer's warranty for accessories and devices. I have sent you a private message. Please check your inbox here in the forums and reply with the information I'll need to help check into your warranty.

  • IPod nano does not charge & is not recognized by computer or iTunes

    I have a 1st generation nano 1 GIG.
    It appears "dead."
It is not recognized by My Computer, iTunes or the Ipod Updater (The updater asks that I connect the iPod, which I do). The iPod diagnostics through iTunes also reports that my iPod is not connected.
I have tried my iPod on 4 different machines, with one of them having USB 2.0.
I tried the following from Jeff Bryan. (I don't know if the links from his post have carried over into this post.) So I will list the things I have tried near the end of this post.
    - My iPod won't turn on.
    - iPod battery doesn't charge.
    - iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.
    - Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod.
    - iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes.
    - iPod does not appear in iTunes.
    - Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported.
I tried resetting my iPod by switching the Hold button on and off and then pressing Menu and the Select button for 6-10 seconds. I have done this over and over and over.
I have uninstalled the latest iTunes, reboot, reinstall - same problem.
I have stopped the iPod service, plugged in the iPod, but it isn't recognized by My Computer as stated in the Apple Do-It-Yourself Help. I launched iTunes - same problem.
I used the window cleanup utility, reboot, reinstall iTunes, connect iPod - same problem.
I have used the Windows ipconfig utility to change my boot parameters, but still nothing.
If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate them.
My iPod is just shy of 6 months.
I do have a replacement contract with Best Buy - but I would like to cover all the bases before I succumb to defeat.
    Thanks

I'm having the same problem, my ipodnano is about a year old and I can't figure out what to do. I just installed the new itunes on my new laptop with vista premium. I'm desperate for a resolution, do you have any suggestions at all. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

  • Ipod not recognized by windows, itunes, and will not charge with pc.

yesterday, when i went to sync some new music onto my 1gen nano, it did not work (duh). i plugged it in 3 times:
-1st, it displayed the "do not connect screen" for one second, and itunes flashed the screen it shows when your ipod is connected, but then the ipod disconnected itself after that one second.
-2nd, windows gave me a message saying the hardware could not be recognized.
-3rd, nothing at all happened, as has been happening each time i try to plug it in since then.
i've done the 5 R's .. and i've tried all the suggestions shown on posts that sound like mine, including these: Windows XP cannot detect an iPod.
USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date.
iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.
my ipod will charge when plugged into a wall charger, and it plays normally. also, my brother's ipod (2nd gen nano) is recognized by windows/itunes.

    Hello
I have been having nearly the same problem as Crashcup for the past month. Differences being I am operating with Windows Vista and my iPod is a 160GB Classic. I have gone through all the steps in the troubleshooting documents to no result. I attach my iPod and it is not recognized by Windows, iTunes or even in Device Manager. Not even as an "Unknown Device".
I know there is nothing wrong with the USB ports as two different external hard drives and a video game controller work perfectly fine through them. Same goes with the iPod itself; it continues to play and function normally, and is recognized by a charging device completely separate from my laptop. Just when attached to the computer there is no sign of it.
I am very frustrated that there is no further instruction with regard to what to do with an iPod Classic (as referred to by Crashcup: "...it says to take a photo with an iPhone, or a screenshot with an iPod touch or iPad. WHAT ABOUT THE IPOD CLASSIC????)
Any help would be much appreciated.l=

  • Froze upgrading ios 6 on connect to itunes screen not recognized by itunes and wont charge no power with usb

The guy at the Apple store said "Now thats a Brick" "I've never seen or heard of one this bad!"
I bought the phone with little to no info on it. I was told that it froze after several failed attempts at loading IOS 6.
Now... It will only turn on if plugged into wall, it will show black, then apple, then "connect to itunes" screen and thats it. As soon as I unplug, it dies. If I try power off, it turns back on and freezes in same place. Reset, same. And unabale to Factory restore cuz I cant unplug from wall. Im asuming its in dfu, nothing works.
When connected to USB,no power, no response from pc (win xp) or Itunes. Although... I swear I heard pc beap once as though it "found new hardware" but on inspection, Nothing.
My theories: 1) Battery is hooped. ( but I was told it worked fine a month ago) The longest I have had it charging is 4hrs and i died as soon as removed.
                        2) VCC conductor. Would explain USB issue.
                        3) The phone was "jailbroke" and IOS6 did not like that. Isnt there programs to reverse this?
                        4) IOS6 interupted, then phone got factory restored. Is it possible there is No "OS" on it?
I never touched an Iphone untill 2 days ago, and I have read and tried every troubshooting solution I could find. If I can fix this I'll be an expert!
    Any help appreciated.

  • Ipod nano not recognized by itunes and won't charge

Ipod nano is about 3 months old, worked fine before with itunes, but now ipod doesn't start itunes, doesn't show up in finder, and doesn't charge.
I have switched usb ports, reset the ipod, downloaded itunes 6. I downloaded ipod update, but computer doesn't recognize ipod so it isn't updated. I tried "restore", but again not recognized. I tried Isync but it can't find ipod.
Do I need a new cable that attaches ipod to computer?

    Hello,
The cord might be the case, but first, try these suggestions:
Try putting your iPod into disk mode, then try connecting it to your computer again...
<a href="How to put your iPod into disk mode</a>
Do you have a wall charger? If so, then try connecting your iPod to that, and does it charge, or not?
Have you checked this link out?:
    <a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60941">iPod doesn't charge correctly
Does your iPod appear in "My Computer"? If so...
iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
    If not...
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes
Post back on what happens when you try these things out. I hope this helps!
