Not regognising iPod for more that 2 seconds

I need some help. When I plug my iPod into my computer, and I click on My Computer, the iPod shows up there for about 2 or 3 seconds, and then goes away, and the iPod goes to the main menu. What I want to do is open the iPod in My Computer but when it doesn't show up, I can't do this. Any suggestions?

I had a problem similar to this. When I open iPod updater it tells me it could not mount my iPod. I replaced the hard drive with that of my iPod U2 and now it works fine.

  • Ipod will not stay connected for more then a few seconds

I was going to update my nano this morning after downloading the newest version of software, and first off it said the firmware was corrupt. so then I restored it, and it would not restore to the new version so i used the older version. the ipod seems to work in my hand but when i connect it to my computer it will not stay connected for more then a few seconds, then it ejects its self, but itunes still shows it as being there even though the rest of the computer does not
I have not had any issues with it since i bought it which was last june.
    any ideas?
    John

    Hi John,
I would suggest, with your iPod disconnected, that you force your iPod into disk mode (following the instructions in this article)
Connect your iPod to your computer.
Then, try restoring it in iTunes while it is connected in disk mode.
Can you successfully restore your iPod?
If so, when the restoring and resyncing process is all complete, now update your iPod to the latest firmware.
    Any success with trying that?

Why will my Mac 8,1 intel desktop not stay in sleep mode for more than 5 seconds?
Have tried repeatedly and end up shutting down instead of "sleeping:.

Hello, most usually it's some USB device causing that, but...
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed. Or an errant process eating up RAM.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

    Rudegar,
Our network is very stable and we aren't seeing any problems with anything else and besides, these worked fine until we did the update.
The wifi access point is in the same room about 6-8 ft. away and it's kind of hard to connect an appletv by ethernet to an iPad.
The appletv runs fine using it's built in applications, like Netflix, Disney, Radio, etc.
All of this makes me think it's not a wireless problem, but it's something in the appletv software after doing the update that won't hold the iPad connection.
I appreciate your suggestions and will pass your information along to our network person.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks

I accidentally changed a setting on my ipod touch and now it won't change back. I have had my ipod for more than two years and i dont know what to do. If i go to the apple store, would they fix it, or would i need to get a new one? If it could be fixed, how much would it cost?

If it is still under warranty you can call the 800 number to apple and enter the serial number and it will tell you if it is under warranty or not if not its like $30 basically for them to help or something like that it said today when i called...
Or take it to a genius bar if you have one near?
Or further explain what setting you are needing fixed back and im sure someone here can help you for free!

Ir means just what it says. kworker (a kernel worker thread - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/torva … kqueue.txt) blocked for more than 120 seconds. This likely happened during one of pacman's big calculation jobs, and is also likely completely safe to ignore.

  • Using i3 - keys start to lag (have to hold key for more than 1 second)

I'm using i3 and am having trouble with the keys suddenly and I have to restart the session to get it back to normal.  No clue what it could be.  I can use gnome, cinnamon, wmii, and awesome without issue, but i3 is what causes me problems.
When I type, I have to hold each key for more than 1 second before it registers.  So in order to type "boat" I have to press and hold b for a second, then o for a second or so, same with a and t.  Any idea what I should check first?
    Thanks.
    EDIT:
It just seems to happen randomly.  When I'm typing, on the web, playing a game, etc.  It's not like it's happening whenever I do a specific task or am running a specific application.

I haven't checked. I'll check next time it happens.  It happens about once per day.  I'll report back next time.

  • Premiere Pro and Soundbooth won't play video/audio for more than a second.

Ok, so my issue is that Soundbooth won't play audio for more than a second. It plays a quick bit then stops. Premiere Pro also does the same with video, it plays a quick bit then stops. I don't know if it is connected or not but when I try to change the audio output in Soundbooth to System Default I get this error:
I set the permissions to premiere and soundbooth to full but it didn't work. I've tried UnInstalling and ReInstalling but that didn't fix the issues either. All of the other programs seem to work. Any help would be much appreciated!!

    Here is the fix.
    1. Open Finder and navigate to /YOUR_HD/Library/Preferences
    2. Rename or move to the Trash the file:   com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.plist
    3. Relaunch The Program

  • [SOLVED] Cannot start X: Xorg.bin blocked for more than 120 seconds

I just rebooted my desktop after a couple of months and now I cannot run Xorg. When I run startx, I get a black screen for two minutes and then a backtrace pops up. At that point I can no longer interact with the console, but I can still ssh and run commands. I've tried setting Xwrapper.conf to needs_root_rights = yes and I have tried just running startx as root, with no help. I'm not sure how to isolate what would have broken this as I have updated so many packages in the last two months. Any ideas what I can try next?
If it helps, I am using the open source ati driver and my xorg.conf.d is empty.

Ok, so I tried unplugging my HDMI monitor and that seems to prevent the hang. When I plug the monitor back in and try to have it detect, it hangs again. I tried connecting via DVI (desktop)-HDMI (monitor) cable instead and have the same issue. I wonder if my monitor is causing the issue (it is pretty flaky, taking several tries to turn it on,) although I find it odd that a bad monitor would cause the driver to hang. Maybe the monitor is not sending the right data to the driver to set the mode. I'll try to find another monitor and see if that resolves the issue.

  • Hang on copy: "btrfs-transacti:282 blocked for more than 120 seconds."

Lately (at least after upgrading to linux 3.15), when I try to copy lots of files between btrfs partitions, I'm getting these "IO hangs" (not sure what to call it) where I can use the system fine as long as I don't try to read/write from my btrfs /home. So I can log in as root and look around, but as soon as I try and ls some random dir within my btrfs /home, it blocks and I have to log in from a different tty to use the system.
A "sudo journalctl -b-1 |grep -i btrfs" will show stuff like

There seems to be others with similar issues:
    http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-btrfs/msg34458.html
    http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-btrfs … 33795.html
but no solution from what I can tell.
It may be that it would unhang itself if I waited a really long while, but haven't had the patience to wait and see yet. I do run nightly backups between the btrfs partitions and the computer seems fine each morning though …
Anyone know what to do about this?

Same thing for me when running rsync... It also corrupted my filesystem. So I restored from a backup and I'm using XFS@LVM@dm-crypt for the time being.

On halting the system I receive these lines over and over (shutdown -r, or using GUI):

    >echo > 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung-task-timeout-secs
Here is the contents of journalctl for the last few days:

Here is the output of dmesg:
    http://bpaste.net/show/hcXNspocc4neg8Q683h5/
I will give you any other output you need.  I am not sure what other logs would show more information concerning the shutdown process.  If you would like a list of my systemd scripts, that is fine as well.
    Thank you in advance.

    Thanks for the replies!
@Rexilion: To be honest I can't remember, I daily update the system.
I didn't notice the warnings in dmesg, only till now.
    @anatolik: Yesterday I tried a few things:
    - Installed Linux-ck (ck-bobcat)
    - Removed some btrfs mount flags, now only: noatime, compress=zlib
It seems indeed to be btrfs related, because I don't have the issues (anymore) at the moment.
I cannot find the link at the moment, but I found a post on the Arch bug reports that it may be an issue when using compress=lzo instead of compress=zlib.
So at the moment no problems, but going to try out if I can reproduce the problem.
Thanks and keep you guys posted!
PS. Should I report this bug?

Hi all, I have elements 10 and the darn organizer will not stay open for more than a minute, which makes useing the program a pain in the butt. does anyone else have this problem and how did you fix it. Im running XP on an older machine in which the edit part works fine.HELP

Hold down your Shift key while launching the Organizer to get to the Catalog Manager.  Highlight your catalog at the bottom of the window, and choose "Repair".  Repeat, using "Optimize".
If that doesn't solve it, from the Catalog Manager, create a new catalog (with a different name).
