Not releasing enough IP addresses
Hello - I hope you can help me. I have an Airport Extreme and I am having some problems with connecting my work laptop into my wireless router. I've been told that my router isn't releasing enough IP addresses. Can someone help me configure this router so I can use my work laptop and my Wii to work? I have a Macbook.
By default, the AirPort Extreme will distribute up to 200 IP addresses, so someone is likely pulling your leg just a bit here....or they mean well....but just don't have the right information for you.
What kind of modem/router do you have connected to your AirPort Extreme? If you could provide the manufacturer and model number of the device, that would really help us help you.

IOS7 Not Release Old IP Address
I have noticed on our network we are having issues with iOS7 Devices retaining old IP Addresses. It looks like It is consistant across multiple devices (4S, iPad2, &5S) they are keeping their ip addresses from home of 192.168.1.xxx and only pick up the new IP for Work of 10.xxx.xxx.xxx after manually renewing the IP Address. I have been able to track is down to just a few devices and am not sure why only these ones are affected and not all of the iOS7 Devices are being affected. The wireless AP They are connecting to when this problem occurs is a MikroTik RB SXT G-2HnD. There is nothing on the network that would be giving out a 192.168.1.xxx ip address. This is making me wonder if they are retaining them from their home networks.
This looks like it is affecting their abilty to accesses anything behind our vpn to our remote business system since it is not an approved ip address on our routing hardware. it is not affecting their ability to conduct regular internet traffic. The 192.168.1.xxx addresses these devices are showing are different and not in sequntial order with the other ones so i doubt there is something somewhere on the network dishing out the ip addresses.Hey there,

I have been told my macbook does not have enough gb for Lion. and that i can not keep my mobile me mail without lion. so does this mean I have to drop mobile me and get another email address?
You probably know that mobilme goes away in June this year. There are two ways to access your mail account on iCloud, either through Lion or via the web. If you decide to go with Lion, the maximum memory you can install is 4GB, however the system will only use 3GB, which is enough to run Lion. DNS/DHCP Managment Console- IP Addresses not releasing
Hello,
I have added a new subnet on our network so we can add more wireless devices (iPads, Cellphones, etc. are all now needing IP addresses)
Everything is working fine except that the addresses are not releasing after 3 days. If someone with a Laptop comes into our building with a cell phone or laptop they are picking up an IP address automatically. Then once they leave (and the 3 day lease time expires) DNS/DHCP is not making that address available for another device.
Now we are quickly running out of local IP addresses on this new subnet. How can I get DNS/DHCP management console to hand out previously used expired IP addresses to new devices?

Have you actually run out of IP addresses? I have not checked the behavior of the DHCP server too closely, but it is well possible that it will hand out unused addresses before reusing expired ones, but that doesn't mean it will really run out of addresses.

No we haven't run out yet so that my very well be the case.
We do have two subnets in the same building .30 subnet and .32 subnet
They both work, and any client can pickup an IP on either subnet.
The .30 subnet was the old one and the .32 subnet has just been created. Now all new clients pickup an address on the .32 subnet.
Is there any way to figure out why all the clients want to pull a .32 address now?

Apple devices, not releasing IP addresses

We have a Cisco 4400 controller and a mix of 1010 and 1131 access points.
We have been running out of IP's on our DHCP server because the apple devices are not releasing there IP's.
If you have experienced the same problem, could you let me know how you solved the issue please?

Crystal Report Viewer Not Releasing Oracle Database Connections
I have a very simple vb.net 3.5 web application that uses the Crystal Report viewer 2008 to open a report. My requirements are as follows:
1. Reports are built by another company and provided to us and used in a web environment
2. All reports contain parameter fields
3. The web application must be generic enough that a report can be added to a list and the user simply selects the report and provides database login information. The Crystal report viewer with handle the request for parameter values and prompt the user for their values.
4. All reports connect to an Oracle 10g server.
The above requirements have been meet and we have an extremely simple web application that runs the reports. It is working very well other than the crystal report viewer is not releasing the database connections. This is bad because the credentials are on a per user basis and that same user must login to a different oracle application simultaneously. They are being denied access because the credentials are already in use. We do not have control nor influence over the policies in use on the Oracle server. Ideally we would like to control the Crystal Report viewer so that it closes connections after use.

By default, having the report in session will hold it open for 20 minutes.
If you create the report as a ReportDocument object you can take it out of session and release it more efficiently. That will release the connection.

Sending an email from Lotus Notes release 5.0.4a
I need to write java code for sending an email from Lotus Notes release 5.0.4a.
Initially, I tried using Lotus Domino Toolkit for java, but the current release, "Lotus Domino ToolKit for Java/Corba release 5.0.8" is not compatible with the notes client/server we are using(5.0.4a).
Now, I am trying to use "Lotus Domino Toolkit 2.1" which supports notes version 5.0.3 and higher, but I couldnot find out how to use it to send email.
Is there are other way in which we can connect to Lotus Notes for sending email. I cannot use SMTP as the Lotus Notes administrator is afraid of security issues so there is no possibility that I can connect to Domino server using java mail API by enabling SMTP on the Domino server.

The Domino SMTP server is not hard to lock down. Any Notes Admin worth his/her salt should know how to do it. Try to persuade them to run the SMTP stuff using name and password authentication only, or restrict access to an IP address range. This is all easy stuff.
Otherwise DIIOP/CORBA is one way to go. If your toolkit jar files don't work with the server then try using the ones on the server. Look in %noteshome%\data\domino\java for the ncso.jar file.
This works for me on an AS/400 java VM to WinNT/Linux Domino servers of various versions.
How to create an email using this method is again not difficult. All you really need is a blank database template. You have to create a document with certain fields in it (all documented) and then save it. That's all there is to it.
Word of warning DIIOP is not very rapid and careless coding can create problems. Ensure that once you have finished a session you make sure you close it else you will have continual connection problems.
Try searching around the domino/notes groups on how to actually do this.

With the new update my screen is not wide enough for the format. How do I change this?
After the new update, the screen shows only 3/4 of what is presented. I have reduced the size of the print and that did not help. For instance, in typing this, once I got as far as "presented" the screen had to shift to the left to allow me to see what I was typing. It did this automatically. I don't know what caused this in the latest edition of the update, but it has caused me a number of problems in doing on line banking because unmovable windows do not show enough to allow me to hit the submit button.
I want to see the entire window when I log onto a site. When I now open Yahoo News for instance, I cannot see the last three inches. I can see them if I move the page over, but up until now, I have always seen the entire page when it comes up without having to take any action on my part.
Where do I go or what do I do to get it back to how it always functioned before?

"You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" error message on iTunes startup?
So I cleaned up my Macbook recently, and now I am fearing that I may have deleted something important.
Whenever I start up iTunes, I am met with the "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" error message. I have read forums that advised editing the Get Info page for the iTunes library to allow all users and staff to "Read/Write", but doing this has not eliminated this message.
Any tracks that were not purchased play normally, but purchased tracks now require additional sign-in that I do not believe was required before. Other than this, iTunes performs normally.
Did I mess something up permanentliy or is there a way to fix this?The problem was that my account wasn't authorized. But when I tried to authorize it, I got an error message saying that the authorization could not be completed. Thankfully, THAT was something that Apple Support had previously addressed.

as XMLGEN is on DOM parsing method, I extract my XML by 500 Rows and I loop until 22 000 rows. I use DBMS_JOB with jobs who read and execute export each minute.

******************************Thank you for the info - I had no idea I was puing myself in danger by cutting it so close. Since your post I have moved my iphoto library to an external drive and now have 165 GB of space on my HD. Following this I have 2 questions.
1. Since my available HD space was reduced by the size of the photo download it seems logical that the download is somewhere on my HD still. Is there a place where these photos might be hiding on my HD even though they are not available on the iphoto library?
2. I was able to recover the .jpg files which are fine. I also recovered the .mov files but they have been compromised. I am hoping I can find the originals still on the HD somewhere. If not, do you have any suggestions for recovery methods or programs? I have not used the SD card since the incident so I should be able to attempt another recovery to salvage the .mov files if there is an alternative method/program available.

I have a requirement where I need to insert/delete international versions of BP standard Address.(This is not the International Address Usage in the Address Overview tab. The international versions can be added by the international versions button in the Address tab.)
I was tryng to use the following function modules for the same:-
ADDR_VERSION_INSERT,
ADDR_VERSION_DELETE,
ADDR_SINGLE_SAVE.
I am able to do the verion insert/delete using these function modules but the problem is none of these function modules are released . I was trying to get the correct function modules by debugging the BP transaction and setting the breakpoint at the 'CALL FUNCTION' statement.Also I tried using the report program 'RS_ABAP_SOURCE_SCAN'.But none of them were successful. Also I am not able to get these information from the where-used list of the function modules.
Please let me know how to go about this.

Samrat.it's not clear what is released, what is not released. If it's somewhere in the documentation, I consider it released, even though technically it is not released. See [sap library - working with the BAS|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/12/ad79815c5811d3b4ea006094192fe3/frameset.htm]. Even if not released, you may take the small risk to use it, just discuss with your project/maintenance teams.

Situation: G4 (AGP Graphics), OS 9.0 with tons of memory.
Problem: Only with any browser viz Explorer, Communicator, iCab or Opera (all versions). Starts off fine. I have broadband. Then steadily goes slower and slower till virtually stops even with just the one browser and one window and no other programs in use. Try to do anything else and above message appears. The problem seems to involves the operating system and the way it interacts with the code of certain sites eg Ebay. It has nothing to do with PRAM, or allocation of memory to the browser or deleting various Preferences. The deletion of Finder, Memory etc Preferences, quitting, restarting all deal with the symptoms and are not a permanent cure. The primary symptom is a massive loss of available memory, not even enough to run a single browser and one window! Any simple solutions? I realise I can upgrade to OS 9.2. Will this work? Apart from this browser problem I am happy with my present set so is there a simpler solution apart from upgrading?Thankyou to all for the welcome and your responses to my query.
I have 640mb of RAM. The problem is intermitent and is determined to a great extent by the sites which I visit. Yahoo for example is great - no problems. In another window visiting eg Ebay will eventually (variable) cause a slowdown. I have switched Virtual Memory on and off, changed cache, program allocations of memory, regularly used Norton Utilies to inspect, repair, defrag etc and looked all over the place for advice. Things run great for a while but it is only a question of time , months or even days, before the problem re-appears. I was surprised to find so little about it on the Web. Perhaps everyone else has upgraded or is on OS X! If I could have done something without upgrading I may have gone for that option as everything else is running like a dream and I want to keep it that way! I use programs such as Paperport (sadly not made for OS X) which I find a marvellous scanning and paperwork management program. To get it to work with OS 9.0 I had to determine with Cassidy & Green's marvellous extension conflict identifier Conflict Catcher that the Control Strip needed disabling. If I upgrade, I could, for Paperport et al, upset the Apple cart! I have also read about a program called Reaper which was used to deal, I believe, with Finder memory problems with OS 7 and OS 8. It is still available on at http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/3783 Apart from this I know nothing more at present about it.
However, the following was one item which I found of great interest which goes along with your advice of upgrading.

This is not a bug of iCab, it's a bug of the "classic" MacOS 8.5/8.6 (and maybe OS 9.0 as well). The problem occurs when a web page has web forms with text input fields. The Unicode text input fields (MLTE) of these old MacOS releases do still have some serious bugs. One of theses bugs causes the MacOS to reserve almost all available memory for these text edit fields so there's no memory left for iCab. Apple has fixed this bug in MacOS 9.2.x (maybe in 9.1 as well), so the best solution for this problem would be to upgrade the MacOS. If this is not possible, you can disable the Unicode text input fields in the preferences dialog of iCab in the panel "Operation > Browser, Tabs". Switch off the option "Use Unicode TextEdit" to configure iCab so that it will use the "ancient" text edit fields, which do work OK, but which do not support Unicode".

Open your TCP/IP control panel. Click the Options button. (If there is no Options button, select Edit->User Mode, and click "Advanced.") Is "Load Only When Needed" turned on? If it is, you may severly fragment the memory in your computer every time you start a program that uses the Internet. Let's say, for example, you launch Netscape. Netscape tries to access the Internet. This causes TCP/IP to load, on top of Netscape. Now, when you quit Netscape, the memory it was using may not get freed up. Launch Outlook. It loads TCP/IP. Now, when you quit Outlook, you may not get its memory back either". Try turning off Load Only When Needed in the TCP/IP Options, see if that solves
the problem. Hope that helps!"
I find that whatever I do one way or another the slowdown will eventually reappear. A bit like weeding gardens and washing dishes! Well unless there is a way of dealing with OS 9.0 memory behaviour with browsers it looks like an upgrade will have to do!

Why are URLs not saved in the address bar immediately upon typing?
This might be a tricky one to explain so please bear with me.
Sometimes, when I click on a link or type an address, the page will fail to load for any number of reasons. However, when this happens, sometimes Firefox doesn't save the URL of the page I attempted to visit in its address bar. Instead, the address bar is either blank or shows "about:blank". This means that hitting the Refresh button does nothing (since Firefox thinks there is no URL to refresh!).
Another symptom of this problem is if you open a link in a new tab (or window), then immediately attempt to bookmark the page while it is still loading. Say, for example, a page is taking a bit too long to load and you decide to bookmark it for later viewing. It turns out that what you're actually bookmarking is - again - the URL "about:blank".
This is incredibly frustrating behaviour. My expectation as a user is that *the moment you click or type a URL, that URL should be concretely cemented into the address bar*, and even if the page fails to load, takes a long time, or other problems occur, the refresh button should always work, the bookmark function should always work, and the window or tab should *always* have a concrete "identity" of that URL you clicked or typed.
Does this make sense?I'm using Firefox 22 on Windows 7 64-bit, by the way.
You can very easily replicate this "bug" (or "feature"... ahem) by shift-clicking any hyperlink which opens up a new Firefox window. Immediately hit the "stop" button to stop the page from loading.
If you're fast enough, the address bar will be completely empty and you can't "refresh" or try again or anything.
In my opinion, the URL should be placed into the address bar the very moment that new window opens. I'd appreciate an explanation of why this is not already the case and if it will or will not be the case in the future. -
Releasing an IP address from a DSL modem

I have a Mac G5 and a Dell with one dsl internet connection. I'm too cheap for a router or hub, I'd like to be able to unplug the modem from the mac and plug it into the PC when i want to get online on that.
I know I need to release the IP address from the MAC. How do I do it??

JustinI am not sure where you got your information, but it doesn't work like that.
Your modem does this function, by assigning IP address from the server of your ISP.
A Router distributes multible IP addresses for multible computers. But if your are using an ethernet cable and plugging in and unplugging from one to another it is a non issue.
