Not remembering app window location

I recently got a new dell computer, running Vista, with an nVidia 8600 card which has two monitors attached. Lr no longer remembers its location on the second monitor (which it did using WinXP). When I open Lr it always reverts to the primary monitor.
Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

The problem is not LR at all. If LR remembers Module and photo he was on last, he has done his job. Dual Monitor support is in the video card. Check your video card Desktop Manager software for a setting to remember application location.

  • Firefox will not remember last window size

I am using Firefox 32.0.2 on a Windows 7 computer.
Starting yesterday when a new window opens it will not remember the window size. It always opens to a small window that takes up about 1/4 of the screen. It should remember the last window size used and open new windows to that size.
I have not changed anything on the computer since it last worked that I am aware of (it is a work computer so IT could have done something).
I have already done a reset and deleted and recreated localstore.rdf.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may have a corrupt '''localstore.rdf''' file.

  • Why does In Design CS 5.5 not remember my window size?

Why does In Design not remember my window size, no matter how many times I save the windows layout?
    thanks!

Use the application frame. It’s under the Window menu.

  • App window locations on restart

Why doesn't Yosemite remember where app windows were located at shutdown when I restart a 2 display iMac system?

Is there anything in your login items?
You might find something in the console.app logs about what is starting up when you log in and why.

  • CS5 not remembering last window position

I'm trying to get CS5 to remember the last window position (which is on my Cintiq) but it always defaults back to my main monitor on start up.  I've restored the default workspace which solved the problem at first, but now it refuses to remember the position again.  It's annoying having to reposition the window every time I relaunch Photoshop...
Has anyone else encountered this problem?  I don't have this issue with CS4.
    I'm using Vista 64.

Check your graphics card settings for application profiles. Such issues are 90% of the time related to window and dialog repositioning in the driver, not the app itself.

  • Why will finder not remember the window size that I set it to?

Every time I open finder I have to drag it out to the size I want it. It will not remember the size I put it at. How do I get it to remember. MBA Mid-2011 with Lion installed 10.7.4.
If I restart it its back to a real small size again and with a 11" MBA that is small.

I don't think it's a Lion issue, as I have no such problems.  But the way window positions work is a bit hard to grasp, as it can depend as much on how you get a particular window open as on the folder you're choosing to view.
If you can double-click your hard drive icon on the desktop and get the window position and view to stick, but after a restart it has forgotten that position and view when performing the same action, then you can try deleting the invisible .DS_Store file inside the relevant folder (in this case, at the root of the hard drive).

  • Finder does not remember last save location.

    Hi all,
When you save a file into a folder, the finder default remembers this location so that this is the new default patch when you save or save as the file again or save a new file.
On a business mac, this is not working for one account. The other account that runs on the make does not have any problem.
Anyone an idea how to fix this for the user?

Ever get a reply to this? It's driving me crazy, I don't remember this in previous versions of the OS. Thanks! E

  • Safari not saving its window location?

Is there a way for Safari to permanently save its window position on start-up? I normally have the top left corner of the safari window on the top left part of my desktop but occasionally, on startup, the top left corner of the safari window will be about 20 pixels (my guess) to the right.

I have the exact same problem, consistent over several OS and Safari upgrades.
I don't really see where one can dictate the location of the main window when it reopens or of a new window other than moving it to the location where you want it.
Sometimes it stays where I had left it, sometimes it doesn't.
New windows always stack towards the right lower corner of the screen.
It's really annoying not having an option that the windows all stack on top of another, which would be especially useful since being able to quickly switch between them using 'Command-Tilde'.

  • Firefox will not remember the window position

I have tried all the suggestions including deleting the rft file and opening in safe mode and redoing settings. I cannot make this browser remember the position I want it in.

I have a similar problem, which could even be related.
I am busy using FF 4.0 b2, (helping with testing), in normal mode it suddenly stopped displaying its windows. I can open a new FF window without any success.
I am using FF for Mac.
The only time it will display its windows is in Safe Mode.
Obviously I can't add extensions to help since there are almost no extensions compatible with FF 4.0 b2

  • OSX will not remember my windows network login and password

I have had this problem since starting at my current office. (Over 12 months.)  I inherited a computer from a previous staff person.  Each of my computers have been Macs. (3 different computers in 13 months.)  We are mostly a Mac computer office but our Active Directory and File Server are both Window PC's. BOOO!
Whenever I try to log in to the file server I get the request for the my network user name and password.  The window already has a user name but it's not mine.  It is the user name of a previous user of my original computer (From 13 months ago.).  I say original computer because I now have my thrid computer which I migrated from the first and second one.  I'm sure whatever the problem it is has come along with each migration.
I have looked in my Keychain Access and found the network password item for the file server.  When I opened it my username and password are correct.
So... where do I go from here?  Thanks for your help.

    Try this:
Reset User Permissions and ACLs in Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
From the Utilities menu select Terminal. At the Terminal prompt enter: resetpassword. Press RETURN. When the window opens select your startup drive where it says "Select the volume containing the user account:" At the bottom of the window you will see, "Reset Home folder permissions and ACLs." Click on the Reset button.

  • Windows 7 does not remember last "Save As" location

It's really the only thing I want my machine to do– just remember the last place I saved to- nothing else really!
Really pissed because it worked yesterday (XP).

To let IE save the last location, I suggest you try the steps in the following thread:

  • CS4 will not remember panel location

I am having a problem with PS CS4, installed in Windows 7 (64), not remembering my panel locations.
I have to click on “My Space” (Custom setup) to reset to my preferences.
Yes, I do have checked “Remember Panel Locations” in Preferences-General.
I do not have this problem in Bridge.
    Any solution?
    Thanks,

  • CS3 can not remember export location!!!

I can not believe that even this new version CS3 can not
remember the export location of slices. each export I need to
browse to my project folder. this was a known bug over all the
previous versions and it is still a huge bug!
    Mic

If you're talking about the right-click functionality: You
have to go to File -> export, and then export to your desired
location first (you can even opt to "export selected slices only").
Then when you right click and "export selected slice" it'll
    remember your location.
Fireworks has always been this way as long as I can remember.

  • Why can't I double-click to minimize all App windows to the Dock in Yosemite?

I am running the Yosemite 10.10.3 (14D131). I have checked the Dock preference 'Double-click a window's title bar to minimize', but not all App windows will actually minimize to the Dock - why? Apple Apps should behave consistently.
    These apps behave as expected:
    Safari
    Mail
    Terminal
    Preview
    Pages
    Messages
    FaceTime
    App Store
    iBooks
    TextEdit
    Terminal
These apps DO NOT behave as expected:
    Reminders
    Notes
    Calculator
    iTunes
    Contacts

Not a feature. In fact, there's no way, using just Illustrator, to extract embedded images. But then, it's only at version THIRTEEN! I save a PDF using no downsampling or compression, then open in Photoshop. When you open a PDF in Photoshop you are given the option to rasterize any pages or extract images embedded in the PDF. Choose Images then select the images you want. Save as TIF or PSD and re-link in Illustrator.
    Yes, it is stupid.

  • Quicktime Not Remembering Desktop Position?

Hi all, I've been having a problem getting QT 7.1.1 to remember the location I place it on screen. Usually, two or three moves will force it to finally record the location and remember it, but today on another Mac I was setting up, it refused to remember the new location. It keeps opening a window in the lower center of the screen.
Any ideas how to get Quicktime to remember its window location after moving it?

    Hi,
Do any one have sulotion for this. I want Quicktime to open an movie always in the same position on my screen every time.
