Not renewing iTunes Match but can't upload music

I have had iTunes Match for a year, that has now expired and I don't wish to renew as I have no need for it. However, every time I try to upload music via iTunes it tells me that I can stream music as I have Match. Which I don't and it doesn't work so I can't
Very frustrating.

Looks to me like Apple has just said the **** with anyone who is unhappy with iTunes match. They offer no fix for these issues for a very long time now!

    Initially your music should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Once match completes its scan, your music will have been matched or uploaded. I suggest that you add iCloud status column to song view. This will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate or waiting. What is the status of your tracks that are not playing.
    If space is not an issue, I suggest that you keep the music on the internal hard drive otherwise you can delete the tracks and play from cloud. In both instances, you should maintain a back up of all your music on a separate hard drive.

    Without iTunes match you can download previously purchased items whenever you want, they are not stored in iCloud, they are local. With iTunes Match you can download practically everything that is in iTunes, Match files are stored in the cloud but are not part of the storage (5G) in iCloud. You can delete iTunes Match files from the local machine and they will still be available to play.
    This would be exactly the same if you did not have iCloud, they are not connected.

  • After 6 months pain, I want to turn off iTunes Match but can't.

    OK so I bought iTunes Match and I am basically sick and tired of tracks skipping, tracks downloading then disappearing and just basically not enjoying my music anymore because of issues with iTunes Match and my iOS devices. iTunes Match is a great concept but in my 6 months of using it, I think it is riddled with massive bugs that make this service unusable for me at this time.
    Thing is, I can't turn off this service. Does anyone know how I can do this?

    Here's a typical scenario for me - I tap 'Download All' on an album (in this example, The Beatles), and get this in the iTunes Store;
    followed by this in the Music App;
    And that's all I ever get - every song is "downloaded", takes up room on my iPhone but never, ever finishes downloading and never plays. So I basically have no iTunes library available, all because of iTunes Match.
    I've restored my iPhone from an iCloud backup, restored from a local backup, restored and setup as a new iPhone, toggled iTunes Match on and off, and the same thing happens EVERY SINGLE TIME.
    IMO iTunes Match is an utterly terrible and frustrating service which is simply not fit for purpose. I just want out.

    Unplug your Iphone out of your computer and replug it back in. It took me several times before I could do this

  • HT5848 I have purchased Itunes Match, and go to Settings/Music and it tells me to subcribe to Itunes Match.  I click on that and it says I am subscribed, but I can not get it to quit playing ADs.

    Figured it out.   Must sign out from Itunes and then back in and it works.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    You cannot use iCloud.com on a mobile device, only on a computer. Documents in iCloud are available via the apps themselves on a mobile device.

    I understand you are not Apple but i was presuming that some logic or technical reason i miss was behind this.
    I really do not see any logic business pratice. If i understand i can be agree or desagree but as minima i know the rules and why.
    to sumarize...my story 
    my id was with XXX and i bought Itune match one year with this account and 4 device are conected with the same account.
    on Ipad device i change my ID to YYY then .... because i need to update some apps and connect to itune match i came back to ID XXX then no problem to update apps but .... no way to come back to itune match.
    .... no way to use itune match anyhow with Ipad and account XXX linked with account XXX. WHYYYY ??? no clue.

    Apologies Brandon, we have moved on somewhat from your original question.
    What I have done is effectively used Michael's idea. I'll try to explain a little further.
    You can run iTunes match on up to 5 computers, and you can edit the iCloud library on any of them. Michael's idea works on the basis that, whilst you can edit the iTunes library, you can't remove songs from other computers.
    I have basically the same setup as you, but I also have a MacBook Air, which is running iTunes Match but without any music downloaded so it all streams.
    I added the songs on my main library, which then added them to the cloud. When they appeared on my MacBook I deleted them straight away. As there was no local copy I was asked if I wanted to delete them from the cloud, and I said yes. When I went back to my main computer I found that, as expected, they were still there, but the iCloud status is "removed". They are therefore on my library but not in iCloud.
    Since then I have run match updates a couple of times and there is no sign as yet that it will try to add them back to the cloud. It's too early to say that this is a definate answer to your problem, but it looks very hopeful.
    Our other discussions have moved onto the 25,000 son limit, which I note from your comment you may also be interested in. Watch this space.
    If you don't have access to a second computer to run the other library on then look back at Michael's post where he explains how to set it up on your main computer.

    With iTunes match, Apple determines which songs in your collection are available in the iTunes Store. Any music with a match is automatically added to iCloud. The songs that aren’t available on iTunes are uploaded.

    On the MBP, in iTunes, switch to Song view and enable the iCloud Status column by pulling down View > View options and selecting the option for "iCloud Status." Close the small window. Look for any tracks that have a status of "waiting." If you see several of them disable iTunes Match while holding down the Option key. Quit iTunes, wait a few seconds, then open it again and turn iTM back on. Let it compelete the scan. Wait until all tracks that are "waiting" have a status of either "matched" or "uploaded."
    On the iPad, turn off iTunes Match then launch the Music app and let the contents clear out. Power cycle the iPad for good measure, then re-enable the service once all the tracks in iTunes have been processed.

    I have found that scrolling through the album list (past albums without art) triggers the progress wheel next to the wifi symbol. You can scroll quickly through the whole collection and then wait! Artwork will appear gradually...
    However, repeat visits to the Music App might initially show no artwork again, but it might spontaneously appear more quickly this time. The bad news is that the whole Music App is now sluggish as ****...

I quadruple-checked actually. 
    From looking through forums it seems a lot of people are having this problem with the only suggestion being to fix permissions.  Anyone have any other suggestions?  I just want to be able to watch the movies I paid for!!

    Could you give us a little more information?  Where are your movies stored?  On  your iMac?  How are you trying to watch them, through iTunes?  Have you tried to watch them with Match turned off?
    Just to be clear, iTunes Match does not accept movies for uploading, only music files.  It will give you access to music videos you've purchased through iTunes though.

It gives an error stating that only one Apple ID can be used at a time with iTunes Match and asks me to wait 72 days until I can download any songs!?     I'm pretty sure the songs will need to be physically present on the computer you are syncing the Nano with, but I'm not 100% sure.
    Edit: I just attempted to sync music that I have stored in the iCloud, but not written on my harddrive to an iPod Classic and it only syncs the music that is present on the computer. I tried to grab a few iCloud file and throw it on the iPod, but I had to download them before it would work.
    So, yes. You do have to have the files already downloaded to sync to a non iOS 5 iDevice.
