"not reponding" appears with each action

Windows 8. All actions in Thunderbird result in "not responding." This occurs whether I'm in safe mode or when McAfee Real Time Scanning is disabled. Computer is i-7 3.4 GHz with 16 GB RAM which is never maxed out in task manager. I've gone through all of the help suggestions except I can't seem to figure out how to click on system tray in a manner that will bring up McAfee.

I was able to exclude my TB profile folder as well as the TB folder from McAfee scanning. McAfee did not allow me just to type in an address for folders but required me to navigate, then click on them. As a result I wasn't able to place a slash at the end of the folder name. I rebooted but no difference in the problem. Please advise.

Network Homes issue with printing presets not the same with each mac logged into

I have a SMB who use a ML Server with network homes, each user logs into any of the iMacs in the building and their home mounts.
No issues their my problem is that printings wise each iMac has the same printers set up with the same name but if a user sets a preset on a printer this preset does not appear when they log onto another computer.
If you look in their ~/Library/Preferences the preset is their.

Untitled web site appears with each normal web site

Each time I go to a web site, an untitled web site appears on my bar.
Can be closed but is a pain.

Airport and Linksys WEP do not play well with each other

I have a MacBook Pro (15", 2.0ghz, 2gb RAM, 100gb HDD - OSX 10.4.8) connecting to Linksys AP's and/or Router with WEP.
I can NOT connect to WEP locked Linksys stuff. I have read all over the internets that you just prefix the WEP key with a $, but when I try and do that - OSX will not take the key - it just makes the "dunk" noise that means "you can't do that, stupidhead". I believe this information is for older versions of the Airport software.
This has happened with my WRT54g at home, as well as two WAP54GP's I just set up at my new office all with the latest / new firmwares.
Using the same key in Boot Camp/Windows (cut and pasted out of a text file on a USB thumb drive) it works just perfectly. Is there a way to get some more debug level info out of Airport when it tries to connect?

Easiest solution is to use WPA instead, this is actually secure compared to WEP.
One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.

IMessages disappear and not all appear on each signed in OS6 or Mtn Lion device

I thought I'd see all my iMessages on all my devices regardless of whether they were on when the messages were sent. What happens seems totally haphazard. Sometimes it seems to be working well and sometimes not. I signed out of my Apple ID and then signed back in to see if that helped, but lo and behold all my iMessages vanished on the Mtn Lion device. Is there any method to the madness?!?!?

I should also point out that when I connect my iPhone, it DOESN'T appear as a connected drive on the desktop. Not sure how this can be so, since the iPhone also has a drive and also functions as an iPod if I want it to. I must have changed some setting to achieve this non-appearance, but don't remember what I must have done.

How do I get rid of an "uninstal set"message that comes up with each entry? h new page?

The message box appears with each new page or entry and locks up the machine until removed.. Some times the X and EXT must be pressed several times to get rid of the box

Other users have reported that this is caused by one of their add-ons. I suggest going to the Add-ons page and disabling everything that is not essential, and then restarting Firefox. Hopefully it's not caused by something you really rely on.

Mtl_system_items_b not in sync with mtl_system_items_TL

Can anyone tell why there are more system_item tables and why they are not in sync with each other?
We have a problem with the picking slip in order management, the picking slip is getting the item description from the mtl_system_items_b table.
For many items this description is incorrect when we look at the inventory items description, that is stored in the mtl_system_items_TL table.
How does the mtl_system_items_b table get updated?
How to sync with the system_items_TL table?
At this moment these tables are showing the correct description:
- mtl_system_items_fvl
- mtl_system_items_TL
- mtl_system_items_vl

Recently got a new iphone but when i tried to sync it with my itunes, all my music appeared with a cloud beside it and doesnt play. Do i have to download each individual track by clicking on each cloud or is there an easier way? I have over 1000 songs!!!!

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

Buttons with page actions not working

Hi,
I have a folio with buttons that have actions such as "Go to Page", "Go to First Page" and "Go to Last Page".
I could export this folio with Folio Builder to the server and I could view it in my tablet with no problems.
However, today (August 30th) I exported the folio again and it's not working. All other overlays are working fine, but buttons with page actions just show their Click appearance and go back to normal.
My friend also teels me of this problem.
What happened?
My Content Viewer in my iPad is updated and I have made the last Folio Builder upgrade.

There was a bug in which these previously supported button actions (Go to Page and Go to First/Last Page) no longer worked, but I thought that bug had been fixed. Let me check on that. In the meantime, the workaround is to use the "navto://" format to jump to a different page within the same document. Use the "navto://articlename#n" format. The first page is 0, so #1 jumps to page 2. For details, go here:

7th Gen Non and iMac appear on each others device list but will not connect

My new 7th Gen nano and imac appear in each others blue tooth devices list but will not connect. I've tried several time and have reset the nano twice. All suggestions greatfully received.

No, sounds like when you dropped it an cracked the screen it may have also damaged the logic board or the repair person damaged a cable.

It's difficult to do more than guess when you don't say what version of OS X or Pages you're running, but if you're on the latest, have you tried the Share menu -> Send via Mail command?
