Not responsive

My iMac stopped responding to the mouse. I disconnected everything and rebooted. Everything reboots fine, but when I use my mouse to open anything, I get no response. I have a wireless mouse and keyboard. The mouse moves across the screen, but doesn't get a response when I click or double click on an icon.

First thing to try is resetting the PRAM per the instructions below. If that does not work then please use the instructions on how to connect a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard below.

Windows 8.1 Flash CC 2014 Not responsive for about 30 seconds every 10 mins or so... Trying 30 day trial.

I am trialing CC 2014 to open some files from an animator. It locks up all the time for between 10 to 60 seconds. It picks up fine once it wakes back up, but it happens very regularly and doesn't seem to relate to any particular activity.
During this time it is marked in the task manager as (Not responsive) It doesn't seem to be taking up a huge amount of CPU or disk read/write during this. It happens whether I have the network connected or not.
It's the only thing on my laptop that does this. I have CS4 installed and it doesn't have this issue.
My laptop has 16GB ram, quad core i7 and good size solid state with over 100GB free space that can do 550MBps.
Is anyone else having these issues? It's unusable, but it's giving me plenty of tea breaks so I suppose that's something.
I know someone who seems to have similar issues on Flash CS6.

Wooah, yeah I think that's done it. Also seems to have fixed it for my friend using CS6. Thanks for the help. I guess I was right with my every 10 minutes estimate then, it was exactly 10 minutes
Surprised it locks it up so bad though. Maybe there should be a warning message if it regularly takes longer than a few seconds telling you what it was and how to disable it.

Trackpad not responsive when MB connected to an external device

After I installed Maverick on my MP retina, every time I connected my smartphone the screen freezes and the trackpad is not responsive anymore. Never happened before. What shall I do? Reinstall Lion? Thanks.

The higher resolution is pushing you to the next higher rendering resolution. If you are in Develop and set zoom position to 1:4 or 1:8 it should speed back up (each level is 4 times as fast as tge previous).

Macbook pro 2011 mouse / keyboard not response in heavy load

When I am playing games in the 2011 Macbook pro. Mouse clicks / keyboard sometimes not response or delay, this occur when the machine under heavy load.
This won't happened in my old BLACK core duo Macbook.
Does everyone notice this?

If your machine is less than a month old, you should use your warranty and call AppleCare (you have 90 days of phone support) or take your machine back to the Apple Store (make an appointment with the Genius Bar first) and let them deal with the issue.
If yours is the 13" model, there is a thread on here (somewhere) about trackpad and keyboard failures when also using Bluetooth, I think (don't quote me on that - I don't have the affected machines so I don't follow the thread too closely).
But I do believe that Apple is aware of the issue and had 'fixed' it in either a patch preceding 10.9.4 or in 10.9.4 itself.

I did all of trouble shooting procedures but it did not work.
I called Apple Care and explained what kind of problem i had and they booked me up with Genius Bar @ Apple Retail Store.
I went to them last Saturday and they replace my troubled iPhone with the new.
they said it is very rare problem reported so far and i could be the first few ones.
it was no hassle and they all were very kindly listened to me.
anyway, problem solved with replacement and i was lucky to have back up for iPhone.
Anyone has same problem, call 800-MY-IPHONE and book yourself to nearest Genius Bar to get your iPhone served or replaced.

I just download and fresh install from portal.office.com
the system is clean fresh and update to the most recently patch
After this issue , I try to
1. repair Office 2013 and Lync 2013 : the result > still freeze
2. Uninstall office 2013 and lync 2013 -> Reboot -> install office/ Lync : the result > still freeze
3. change the language key from ' to shif+alt : the result > Not freeze
4. Chage the language key back to ' : the result > Freeze

This is a known issue, to work around this issue, you must select one of the other keyboard shortcuts from Control Panel.

End Call not responsive

When I start to make a call, pressing the END Call is not responsive and the recipient receive a missed call. It takes 3 seconds to respond.

Can you clarify please...why would you be using the "End Call" when you "start to make a call"?
In any event...anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. If this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Oops - for some reason, this problem now seems to have gone away. May have had something to do with Flash. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Layer mask not responsive

I have noticed in PSE 12 and 13 when I do layer mask selection or doing refine edge the software is not responsive. It happens in my windows 7 but work very well on OSX ..Please help

Oracle in not responsing to connect requests via sqlplus

I am trying to connect to oracle 10.2.0.3 on linux via sqlplus.
All the oracle process are up.
tnsping and ping are response OK.
I check the uptime, and it show:
01:58:21 up 3 days, 23:47, 1 user, load average: 0.09, 0.03, 0.01
THE PROBLEM IS :
Oracle is not responsing at all to any connect requests:

Can you post the last 100 or so lines from a client trace that is hanging (before you kill the hanging login)?
The advice to check the listener log on the server is sound, as would be a look at the server's alert<sid>.log and an strace output of the attempt:
strace sqlplus xxx/yyy@prd
The advice to delete your spfile and increase PROCESSES is clearly unwarranted, since you have provided no indication that you are exceeding that resource limit. Furthermore you are not receiving "ORA-00020: maximum number of processes (%s) exceeded", which is what we would expect in such an eventuality.

ITunes 10.5, Creating iPod version of podcast makes iTunes not responsive

MacBook Pro (2.5 GHz Intel Core Duo with 4 GB RAM) running 10.6.8. iTunes version 10.5. After downloading a 71MB .mp4 podcast through subscription, when I attempt to make an iPod version of the podcast (Advanced > Create iPod or iPhone Version) iTunes consistently hangs with the spinning beachball. Activity Monitor shows that iTunes has become not responsive, and force quitting is the only solution. In the /Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Podcasts folder is a zero KB .m4v file. Curiously, everything works properly on a 10 year old iMac running 10.4.11 and iTunes 9.2.1.

I have a similar setup and after some initial problems, I can tell you that syncing now works for me.
1st-gen iPod touch iOS 3.1.3
iTunes 10.5
Mac OS X 10.6.8
When I first upgraded to iTunes 10.5 and connected my iPod, iTunes didn't even recognize it in the sidebar and it didn't show that I had any backups for any devices. The iPod was recognized by iPhoto, so I knew it wasn't a problem with the cable or something like that.
So I took the advice in the other thread and downloaded the full iTunes installer. I deleted four com.apple.iTunes[xxx].plist files from ~/Library/Preferences/, ran the installer, repaired permissions, and rebooted. To my amazement, when I launched iTunes and plugged in my iPod, it and its previous backups were recognized, and a fresh backup and sync ran without any problems.
