Not seeing clients on Cisco switches through PI
I upgraded from WCS to CiscoPI 1.03, I can see the clients that are on the AP's but I cannot see the wired clients that are on the managed switches.
I go to switch device details, current associated clients and I get "no data available". But I do see clients on the APs under current associated clients.
any thoughts?

Prime Infrastructure is going to get this information from SNMP polling the devices. To confirm that the client's information is in that switch, check "show cdp neighbors" or "show arp". If this is a layer 2 switch, it won't know about the client's IP address, so there wouldn't be anything there to send when Prime Infrastructure comes asking.
Make sure that the device that is these clients' default gateway is also added into Prime Infrastructure, as that's where most of the IP address-to-MAC address mapping is going to happen.
In larger networks where there are more than 20 switches being managed, bug CSCue87691 keeps more than the first 20 from being polled, and that should be fixed soon.
Prime Infrastructure 1.3.0.20 Update 1 is out. Even though it may not clear this specific situation, there are a lot of good fixes there you'll want to have.

This was working, due to whatever, the system was reset to factory defaults and we set it up right the second time, well, we thought we did any how.
I have the XRAID configed and ready. I have XSAN installed on 10 Macs, connected with fiber switch and gigabit ethernet (169.254.0.0 addresses). I have one computer at the primary controller with the Admin software. When I go to setup the various computers, I see the one computer with Admin software and one other client can mount the volumes. NONE of the other 8 computers show up in the admin software. I can ping the primary controller from all of the clients and can ping the clients from the server. I can see no difference in configuration from the two that work to any of the others.
The best I get from documentation is to shut down all parts and then bring them back up in the order of switches, RAID, primary controller, and finally clients. After three times of that with the same results, I figured there must be another answer.
Any suggestions?

1. Make sure your metadata controllers and clients are all in the same IP range. You can use the 169.254 address as long as your using a class B (255.255.0.0) subnet.
2. One of the "gotchas" to making sure that your clients show up in the admin is, on your clients, make sure the metadata network (hopefully you're not using your regular LAN for metadata) interface is the primary network interface (i.e. listed on the top of all your network ports) and that the other ports are turned off. Make these changes on your clients by going to the Network preference pane, under the Show menu choose Network Port Configurations, authenticate as an admin and drag the metadata interface to the top. Then reboot your clients. After the clients are back up, give it a minute and they should populate in Xsan admin (provided #1 is taken care of).
Once the volume is mounted, you can put your regular LAN back as the primary and the volume will still mount after reboots. Just keep in mind that anytime you need to manage your clients, you need to jump through this hoop. This was supposedly fixed in Xsan 1.2, but I find myself still needing to do it.

Console not seeing Media Centre when wired through...
I have an issue that is causing no end of problems. My current wired network and wifi SSIDs

All hardware can connect to the internet without problems and anything connect to both {SSID}N and {SSID}OLD or wired running through the WR1043N router can communicate without issue.
WinXP1 hosts a a number of services (Web, POP, FPT) which communicate out to the internet as well as all internal devices and also hosts a Tversity Media Server. It also acts as a print server for the house with all devices taking advantage of the network printing, both Win and LRP, once again without issue.
Thanks to WMP11, WinXP1 also hosts a secondary media player and the WR1043N router also hosts a media player. All devices on both and either wireless network can see all 3 media players and play video and media flawlessly.
However I am having a problem with the 1 piece of hardware that is wired into the Home Hub itself. The device named XBOX360_1 can communicate fine on the internet (XboxLive, Lovefilm, IE) but it cannot reliably see any of the 3 media servers running on the network. Sometimes it sees nothing, then it sees them all but cannot connect, then it sees 1, lists the media available but will not play anything.
I have tried all 3 XBOX360 consoles in that port and non of them can see the media servers when wired into the Home Hub, yet all 3 can see it when wireless. I have not tried wiring the consoles into the WR1043N router but as the WinXP2 can see everything on WinXP1 fine, I am happy it is nothing to do with the TP-Link kit.
Also as anything connecting through {SSID}OLD has to pass through a wired network through WR1043N, I can say it is not a comms issue between WR1043N and HH2.
I am only left with the possiblity that something on the HH2 is blocking traffic between 2 wired ports or is introducing an increased amount of network lag, worse than over wifi. I have tried a combination of all 4 ports on the HH2 and tried 3 different network cables between HH2 and the console and nothing seems to work.
Is there any experience of there been communication issues between the ports on HH2 previously, or is there anyone out there with any more ideas because I am all out of them.

** Decided rather than moving my consoles about I would swap out the routers first **
Swap out the WR1043N entirely for a switch - same results as previous test when running through HH. No/intermittant connection to DLNA/Media servers slow/intermittant connection over HTTP, port 8080 etc
Now the good news
Swap out the HH2 entirely for a switch - flawless performance across all connections and protocols. HH2 spurred off the switch so still had internet enabled and HH still acted as DNS, the only difference is the XBOX is not passing through the HH to talk to media server.
It appears there is some interferance being introduced between the ethernet ports on the HH2 so time to replace it. The Win7 laptop is able to compensate for this to some expent but the consoles cannot.
I unplugged the Sky box which also plugs into the HH and it does seem to at least transmit the Media Server library, but as soon as streaming starts, it cuts off again.
I only see 3 solutions
1. Ask BT for a new HH, unlikely due to its age
2. move to another provider and get a new modem/router free
3. buy another modem and move the WR1043N, great more money and not what I bought the WR1043N
Personally I am thinking option 2 is the least hassle and most cost effective. Thanks for the bounce off anyway.

Oc4j standalone not seeing client cert in truststore
OC4J standalone 10.1.2 running on W2K server.
I have a web site configured for SSL with needs-client-auth="true".
If the client certificate is in the keystore referenced in the <ssl-config> element, authorization works. If the client cert is instead in the truststore (cacerts), the certificate is not found. The Sun JSSE docs recommend that private keys only be in the keystore, and public keys in the truststore. When the client certs are in the keystore, they are visible to the outside world thru a utility like openssl. This exposes our customer names (the CN on the client cert).
How do I get client certs in a truststore to be recognized?

Each can be accessed through a utility like openssl if one has access to the file system (whuch would list all public certs in them provided that you have the password of course). The Sun JSSE recommends this as a best practice, not as a security vulnerability as far as I know.

Did you assign the IP to "interface vlan 1" or another vlan? Is the "uplink" port that connects the switch to the LAN in the correct VLAN? Have you configured the correct VTY ports with the correct protocol/login ID?

In WCS 6.0.170 do not see Client on the Map
Hi All,
in a WCS ver 6.0.170 i have positioned an H-REAP AP un a floor area and i corrctly see the Heatmap but if i choose to view in the AP Filter the "Assoc. Client,"
the clients count was zero even if there are 1 or more client associate.
I have try on a WCS with version 6.0.132 and it was show but after the upgrade to the version 6.0.170 I can't see the assoc. client on the Map Too.
there is a bug in the new version?

StefanoOur WCS was 4.2.128 prior to the direct upgrade to 6.0.170.
When hovered over an AP and selecting the 802.11b/g/n radio (the only band we use) I still see 0 clients just as I do when clicking the > next to Access Points and chosen to display Assoc. Client on the upper left part of the screen for floor view map. We see this on all maps, but the one I just tested on has 9 AP's and shows 46 clients in the table view of maps.
Also tested with root and TACACS+ superuser account with the same results.
Any idea's?

VMware 5.0 host not seeing EMC VNX5300 through UCS
I cannot seem to get VMware ESX 5.0 host to see EMC VNX5300 through UCS FC setup. It does see the EMC storage through iSCSI.

According to this, I seems to see the initators on the EMC. Why is it not seeing the EMC storage group?
Is there a documentation on how to hooking this up correctly?

If you are using UCS version 2.1, it could be that you missed to do the zoning in UCS for the FC direct attached storage. Please enable zoning in the required VSAN and follow steps in
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/gui/config/guide/2.1/b_UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_1_chapter_011011.html to configure the zoning.
If your UCS version is prior to 2.1, you need to have a upstream SAN switch which is connected to FI and pushing the zone database to the FI.

It looks to me like you are using a console cable. The reason you usually see them the other way around is because with a console cable the RJ-45 end goes into the device (an ethernet jack labeled console) whereas on this switch the console port is serial itself.
Usually the serial end of the cable you have plugs into a USB to serial adapter (because most computers today don't have serial ports anymore) and that USB connection goes into your PC, creating the virtual COM port you need in HyperTerminal.
So if you get a USB to Serial adapter you could plug that from USB to the console port, or if you computer has a serial port of its own just connect a serial cable directly from the PC to the switch, then use HyperTerminal with the settings recommended above by Tom.

When I open about this mac -> more info and I switch through the tabs (display,memory,storage,support,service) it lags (fps drops, animation looks choppy not smooth) even though all the mac (programs , interface ) works smooth . Why does this happen? (over 300 gb free,same programs installed,free desktop-downloads -no garbage there- everything neat and tidy.) Need some help. Only there it the animations goes like 2 fps and is not smooth. I do not understand why because the programs are the same so its the usage. Nothing is changed, yet i experience this little issue for a couple of days.
OK, I'm confused. When I do About this Mac > More Info in OS10.9, I don't see any animation other than the window resizing. Is that the animation you are describing?

1) Are you running any anti-virus/internet security applications?
2) Are you running any "cleaning/tune-up/optimizations" applications?
3) Any peer-to-peer or torrent downloading software?
4) Any third-party disk backup software that came bundled with an external hard drive?
5) Any online backup scheme other than iCloud (Carbonite; GoogleDrive; MS One Drive)?
6) Did your financial institution ask you to install Trusteer EndPoint Protection (also known as Trusteer Rapport)? -
Tacacs+ Enable password is not working on Cisco Switch

I am facing issues when enabling tacacs authentication on my cisco switch, aaa login/password is working, aaa enable is not. Underneath details of my devices.
Cisco ACS 1121: version 5.1
Cisco Switch 3560: ios ver 15

I created a new shell profiles named "root" as the default one "Permit Access" can't be access or modified, underneath the steps I've made.
1. Create a new shell profile name "root" with max privilege of 15. And then used it in "Default Device Admin/Authorization/Rule-1" shell profile - see attached file for more details.
2. Telnet the Switch and then Issue "debug aaa authentication" using both "Root Shell" and "Permit Access" applied in Rule-1 profile.

Tacacs-server key working in some Cisco switches for AAA, but not in other switches???

Has anyone experienced this before? I am using Cisco ACS 5.2. I have a very simple word (no, not cisco ) for my tacacs-server key. I've used the same key within the ACS and on two other Cisco switches, and AAA is working fine between the two switches; however, in setting up the key via the ACS and on a third Cisco switch and using PuTTY, I'm getting the error of "Access Denied. Using keyboard-interactive authentication."
I've re-entered the simple tacacs key multiple times within the ACS and on the switch making sure to not fat finger or misspell it.
I don't think there is a problem with the AAA setup I have within the switches as all of the AAA configs are the same on every switch we have.
Any other possible ideas anyone can suggest?

-tacacs-server key is a simple key and is the same for every switch and within ACS
-AAA config is the same on every switch, so I do not believe it to be a AAA config issue
-Running config on switch that is not working is pretty much the same as the other two working switches
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I recently purchased a TV series through my Apple TV2 and can access this purchase on my iPod no problem. However, in iTunes on my laptopwhen I go to TV "Purchases" I do not see anything listed to be able to download to my laptop.
The only workaround I see is dowloading through my iPod touch and then synching with the computer...but that's a pain!
Any suggestions? All software is up to date in terms of updates.

Before updating to iOS 5 did you copy all your purchases from the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases ? If you did then you should be able to sync it back to the iPad. -
I am not able to access my photos through the photo application... when I click on the photo app, I can see the camera roll, but a transparent "album" screen is over it and I cannot click on the photos to see it... can any one please help ???
Known bug. Quit the Camera App, double-tap the home key and delete Camera from the recent apps bar. Fire it up again, should be good.
