Not seeing details in tcpdump of port 1521

Hi:
Not strictly an Oracle question but there's a strong Oracle tie-in. So...
I'm trying to verify that encryption between my client and server is happening by using tcpdump and was just wondering has anyone else had done this? I see packet data but it looks like only header data. I see nothing of my select statement that should be somewhere within the packet. Am I just misunderstanding what data tcpdump exposes or is something else going on?
Thanks

Thanksonly initial connection request uses port 1521.
After that actual packet exchange occurs on "random" high port.

  • ITune not seeing iPod in another USDB port

    Hi there
I have a 20Gb iPod, and my wife has a nano. She has a nano dock in one port on the PC, and she has her own library in her own profile on the PC. When I used to connect my iPod to the PC, I just pulled the plug out of the back of the Dock, and plugged in my iPod - iTunes recognised it without a hitch.
Now I've got a dock as well, plugged into another free USB port on the PC, but when I put my iPod in, iTunes won't recognise it.
iTunes still recognises it if I plug it in the way I used to, however.
I have tested the USB port with other peripherals, and it is fine. I have tested the dock by 'bypassing' the actual dock and plugging the iPod directly onto the cable. Still nothing. But this dock and cable work fine when plugged in to my stereo, so I really don't think the fault lies there.
Has iTunes 'registered' my iPod on a certain USB port, and not recognise it in another? Do I have to reset it via my iPod updater?

Is the USB port your have your dock plugged into or your cable plugged into a USB 2.0???
Is it one of those "handy in front or on the front of your pc tower casing"??
If your answer to the first question is yes, then I have no clue how to help.
If your answer to the second question is yes, then the problem is with the actual USB port, you see the computer manufactures put those handy USB 2.0 ports on the front but the problem lies in the wires that connect it to the mother board. The wires can't handle the 2.0 communications and this confuses the computer, and consequently the computer and iTunes will disable that port and not recognize it.
Post back your response, I am curious.

  • Shared Exchange Contacts user cant see details

I am working on a issue that is really has me stumped.
User 1 has shared her contacts to user 2. User 2 can see the contacts but can not see details on the newly added contacts.
I have went into user 1 and user 2 is set to editor and can view all past contacts no issue... its just the new ones. I went in and created a test contact and same issue to user 2. I know its not set to private.
    Ideas?

  • Can not see the details of the task approved in UWL of ESS

Leave approver can not see the detail of the task approved such as the start and end date of the leave, number of days used, leave quota details of the applicant when he approved it.
    Please give your advises!
    Regards,

    Hi!
Maybe these attributes are not being shown due to the fact that they might have been specified in the "List of Display Attribute to exclude from Preview/Detail area" attribute of the UWL iview currently being used.
As you can see in the Help page:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/de/0a/ad68c125ae496f8c04a25090bd2e3c/content.htm
It states the following about this attribute:
"Enter the names of the attributes which you want to hide from the display in the preview area. These names should be comma separated."
Maybe for the UWL iview currently being used it has been specified some values for this attribute, and so some information for the items such as the start and end date of the leave (along with the others you have mentioned) are not getting displayed in the preview area.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,

  • Could not see SH schema details in AWM 11g.

    Hi all,
I have installed oracle db 11g (11.1.0.6) and installed awm 11.1.0.7.
I am trying to open db instance in AWM by SH Schma, but i could not see the dimensions which already in place (as this is oracle defined sample schema). What could be done to see the details of schema.
    regards
    chandra kanth.

AWM allows you to connect to the database in two modes: 10g and 11g. In 10g mode you will see only the 10g style AWs, and in 11g mode you will see only 11g style AWs. I don't know which version of the SH AW you have, but it is worth trying both connection modes. You will see the option ("Cube Type") in the dialog where you enter the password.
More generally you should upgrade your database instance to 11.1.0.7 at the least if you are planning to use OLAP, and there are recommended OLAP patches to be applied on top of that. See the following certification page for details.

  • Recently bought airport Extreme and have connected the device to the modem. WIFI works. However when I connect the LAN port to a switch I do not see the LAN printer and my NAS. Which setting do I miss?

I have installed my Airport Extreme and have conencted it directly to a modem. WIFI works fine. However I do not see my LAN network (printer. NAS,..).
    Analysis:
Scen#1: When I connect the LAN port of the Airport Extreme to a switch (as input) and connect the other LAN devices also to the switch, those LAN devices do not have access to the internet. Also connecting the iPAD with WIFI to the Airport Extreme I cannot find my LAN printer and other devices.
Scen#2: When I connect the LAN port of the Airport Extreme to a router X (as input) and connect the router X to the same switch, and the LAN devices to the switch, those LAN devices do have access to the internet. Also connecting the iPAD with WIFI to the router X I can find my LAN printer and other devices in the LAN network.
Question what has impacted the behaviour of the Airport Extreme, not to detect the devices in the LAN network. Why is the use of a switch directly behind the Airport Extreme not working (no internet access for the other devices and Airport Extreme is not the basis station for the LAN network)?

Your scenario #1 is a correct configuration and should work. It seems as though your Extreme is not acting as a router as I believe you intend.
Most likely, you need to reset your modem. Power it down and let it rest for a few moments. Some need longer than others. Then, I recommend you "hard reset" your Extreme (see below) and configure it again, after the modem has been reset. From then on do not change what is connected to your modem without powering it down first.
Once configured, confirm your Extreme's wireless network works as expected and that your iPad and every other wireless device can load web pages. Then, connect the printer directly to one of the Extreme's LAN ports and confirm that it works as well. After that it should work equally well with a switch between it and the Extreme, as should every other wired device connected to the switch. This assumes your switch is an unmanaged device requiring no specific configuration.
Scenario #2: Having a router connected downstream of another is not a normal configuration, so don't pursue that as a solution. It will only distract you from determining the problem. If you want to repurpose Router X as another device do so only after everything else is working to your satisfaction.
To "hard reset" an AirPort Base Station: make sure it's powered up, then press and hold its tiny reset button and keep it depressed for five to ten seconds, long enough for its LED to flash amber rapidly. Release the reset button. Then, the LED will glow amber steadily for about a minute. Then, it will flash amber, slowly, about once every second or two, waiting for you to configure it with AirPort Utility.

I would like to have the ability for the user to edit the property 'Status Message'.  In the properties it says that it should be available in the details section however I am not seeing it there.  Does anyone know if I might have something set

  • I am connected to time capsule via wi-fi but air port says not connected and disk utility does not see it

I am connected to time capsule via wi-fi but air port says not connected and disk utility does not see it. I had it connected via ethernet and it still did not see it. Then i disconncectd it from ethernet and did the Wi-fi connection and am able to post this message but air port still does not see it.

Disk Utility will not "see" the Time Capsule, so no need to waste any more time on that issue.
but air port still does not see it.
Not sure what you mean by "air port" here.

  • ITunes 10 does not see Airport Express because port 3689 is unavailable

I never had problems with iTunes 9 and Airport Express, but since iTunes 10 the following problem occurs regularly: iTunes starts, but does not "see" Airport Express (AE) as an external speaker. Sometimes it also loses connection after Windows hibernate mode, but that might be another issue.
What I found out is that it is NOT a firewall issue, otherwise it would not work once in a while. What I saw, though, is that TCP port 3689 is sometimes stolen by other apps like Mozilla Thunderbird (TB). I.e. if Thunderbird is started BEFORE iTunes, it might use 3689 as a listening socket. iTunes then cannot see AE until I shut down TB and restart iTunes. This is very annoying and I only found out after many weeks when watching TCP live connections in my personal firewall software.
    Two questions arise:
    1) If listening port 3689 is unavailable, why does iTunes not show any error message? There is absolutely no indication as to why it does not find the external AE loudspeaker. BTW, the AE config programm can connect to the hardware easily.
    2) Even if port 3689 is blocked by another application, Airfoil for Windows works flawlessly with my AE. I can even tunnel iTunes through Airfoil and then listen to music in my living room, even though iTunes does not see AE. Why can a 3rd party program do something which iTunes can't?
There must be a way to smarten up iTunes and fix this annoying bug.

When I plug a network cable into the ethernet port the machine does not see it as being connected.
I have tried different cables, different network sockets, latest drivers, Uninstalled from device manager, the machine picks up the device on next boot and installs the drivers (I even get a flash from the left hand led on the port). My bios is v 1.8. I am running xp pro sp3 fully patched.

Sorted. After much messing with network cables the machine only seems to like certain cables. This machine also overheats a lot.

  • Finder / Automator not seeing updated (by Win) directories

    Hi all
I am trying to create a workflow where part of the acction is done by Win, then some part by Mac.
Win and Mac part a working fine by themself.
    Parallels runs Windows XP
The Win part creates a file inside the Win directory. This same directory is visable on the Mac side but does not update when Win saves the file.
Consequently Automator does not see the update and never starts the next part of the process on the Mac side.
How can I force the update on the Mac side?

    Markus,
I have also another hint from SELinux.
When I change the SELinux parametr from Enforced to Permissive, and I run the SAPinst program, the SELinux pops up the following alert:
    Summary:
SELinux is preventing java from loading
    /tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so which requires
    text relocation.
    Detailed Description:
[SELinux is in permissive mode, the operation would have been denied but was
    permitted due to permissive mode.]
The java application attempted to load
    /tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so which requires
text relocation. This is a potential security problem. Most libraries do not
need this permission. Libraries are sometimes coded incorrectly and request this
permission. The SELinux Memory Protection Tests
(http://people.redhat.com/drepper/selinux-mem.html) web page explains how to
remove this requirement. You can configure SELinux temporarily to allow
    /tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so to use relocation
as a workaround, until the library is fixed. Please file a bug report
    (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/enter_bug.cgi) against this package.
    Allowing Access:
    If you trust /tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so to
run correctly, you can change the file context to textrel_shlib_t. "chcon -t
    textrel_shlib_t
    '/tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so'" You must also
change the default file context files on the system in order to preserve them
even on a full relabel. "semanage fcontext -a -t textrel_shlib_t
    '/tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so'"
The following command will allow this access:
    chcon -t textrel_shlib_t '/tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so'

  • Listener Port 1521 Unavailable....

    Hi,
I was installing Oracle 8i Enterprise on a Windows NT 4.0 with Service Package 6 platform. The installation goes fine until Oracle tries to detect port 1521. Oracle responds with the Port is already being used by another software.
I checked the ports using Windows utility 'netstat' and did not find port 1521 in use. I tried a whole range of Port numbers, but Oracle responded to each one as already in use. I accepted Port 1521, but Oracle informs that it will not be able for usage until the problem has been resolved.
So now SQLPLUS comes up fine locally, but no Client is able to connect to the Server as the Listener could not be configured.
Why is Oracle seeing these Ports as already in use ? I have minimal software on the machine...NT and now Oracle.
Any Ideas or tools/utilities that may be of help will be greatly appreciated.

    I figured it out.
