Not seen in windows (or anywhere else!)

I have a problem..
I was given an Ipod - I am assuming it is a mini, but I'm not 100% certain - All I know is it has a touch wheel, is marked with 4Gb on the back, and it has a monochrome screen.
There were NO cables, manuals, or CD's with it.
I went out and purchase a FireWire cable for it, and it is charging up fine with that.
However, I seem to be unable to do anything else with it!
It does not appear in windows or in ITunes. I have read through all the advice I could find but the Ipod doesn't even appear in places where I should be able to fix this problem (nope, not even in Administrator Tools under Control Panel!)
When connected to my PC, the normal Ipod menu comes on screen, but no other messages or icons (ie: do not disconnect, the sad smiley etc).
So any suggestions as to how I can make this work?
I AM able to reset the Ipod (flick hold switch on and off, hold menu and select for 6-10 seconds etc) and I DO see the apple logo when I do this.

Are you sure it is an Ipod?
The reason i ask is that there are cheap mp3 players knocking about that look like ipods but there are in fact made to look like them but are no good.

Satellite A - DVD drive not seen by Windows Explorer

THe DVD deive on D is not seen by windows explorer. It used to work but has now disappeared. The dvd hardwars starts up at boot then ceases.

Try removing the CD/DVD Filters from the Registry.
When CD/DVD related software is installed (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), they install filters into the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.
1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
4) Reboot.
If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).

Ipod not seen by windows or itunes

Hello, I'm totally frustrated and have been searching for hours. Please someone help.
- Nano 8 gb
- Windows xp
Neither Windows (my computer) nor Itunes sees my ipod. Ipod is working fine: did the menu/select thing, cable is good.
When I plug the ipod in the usb port I hear a bleep and I get a message bottom right "new hardware found ipod"and the icon is a usb cable. Ipod is not in My computer window. Ipod is not seen by Itunes
Tried Device Manager/I see Ipod with a ? Yellow. If i right click on it and do update driver the ms computer management system crashes and sends error report.
I tried dowloading the USB driver and placing it in the directory, but I got stuck because there is no windows/inf directory. I tried to update the usb driver with the same ms crash.
I'm completely frustrated, please can someone help me.

I was having the same problem the other day. I'm not sure what it was but I think it has something to do with the i tunes and i pod 1.2 update.
What I did was:
1. Uninstall i tunes
2. Restart my computer
3. pluged my ipod in a slow usb line
4. waited until my pc recognized it in there. It took a little while.
5. re installed i tunes from apple.com
6. waited until i tunes recognized my ipod
7. updated my i pod with my library it took a long time because i was in the slow usb plug.
8. re plugged my ipod into a 2.0 usb line
9. i tunes recognized it.
10. I then updated my ipod to the new 1.2 version
11. The problem started happening again
12 I repeated what I did before and now it is working.
It was very frustrating! I hope it works for you.1

5th Gen IPOD - Won't Sync and Not Seen by Windows

Help!!!
Tried the 5 R's. I have the IPOD in Disk Mode but whilst it will happily charge, it still is not seen by ITunes or Windows Explorer (though is visible inDisk Defragmenter). I have already un-installed and re-installed ITunes etc.
Prior to putting it into Disk Mode the IPOD still had my library on it and owuld happily work.

Bluetooth not seen in Windows

I installed Windows 8.1 through BootCamp and Bluetooth device is not recognized by Windows. I am talking about the new 2015 12' macbook.
It is not seen in the device manager list.

Can you check the version of BC drivers in bootcamp.xml on your USB?

Firewire external writer not seen by Windows 7

I have Windows 7 x64 running very sweetly in my MacBook Pro 2.2 on a Kingston SSD 128 V series. I installed the X64 drivers from the SL disk as detailed elsewhere in this forum.
Everything is working except a Freecom LS Pro external DVD writer, when connected by firewire. Windows 7 simply doesn't see it. Not in Device Manager or anywhere. Fine connected USB.
The same LS Pro works fine with firewire in a Vista Bootcamp partition on my Mac Pro, and on the Mac partition on the MBP.
Firewire external hard drives work fine on the Windows 7 partition.
It looks like a missing driver for firewire DVD writer in Windows 7 bootcamp.
Will I have to wait for the imminent new Bootcamp release, or is there another solution?
Anyone have the same problem?

I managed to work out why iTunes couldn't see the ext writer [I didn't check it in the drop down menu...]
So, although I didn't manage to get AIFF files written to the disc to work on my CD player... the situation is now resolved.

E3000 Media Server not seen by Windows Media Player (v 12.0) on Win 7

I've enabled the Media Server on my E3000 router. My PS3 can see the server and play media from it by my PCs can't!
I'm using Windows Media Player v 12.0 on Windows 7 and some older version on Windows XP and it's my understanding that the Media Server should appear under the "Other Libraries" section but it does not.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a bug in the E3000 firmware (I have the latest as of this date) or is the Media Server simply not compatible with Windows Media Player?
If it's an incompatibility issue, can someone please point me to a compatible media player for Windows 7?
I did read a post about a firmware upgrade on the 4200 that broke the media player, but I don't know if such a problem exists for the E3000.

This is what you can try in getting the Computer to see the media server on the E3000:
(Obviously make sure you have the media server enabled on the router and at least one folder shared....and make sure you have scanned the folder(s))
1) Turn your computer on.
2) Disconnect your external usb drive.
3) Pull the power on the E3000.
4) Connect the external usb drive.
5) Plug the power back into the E3000.
Then see if that works or not.

IPOD suddenly not seen by windows any more - I am desperate!

PLEASE HELP ME!
I have been using my 30Gb ipod happily since Xmas with no problems at all, until suddenly 1 week ago my main computer (through which I synch my ipod with itunes) stopped recognising the IPOD (not found in device manager or my computer etc), but continues to charge the ipod normally (ie the charging icon appears).
I have gone through document Knowledge Base Document #61711 and done everything to no avail.(When I say everything, that is except carry out the restore option which I can't do beacuse the updater doesnt see the ipod - why do they put this advice if windows not recognising ipod?)
I have tried plugging the ipod into other computers and the same happens - they charge the ipod but do not see it, even in disk mode.
I don't know what else to try. Is it possible to manually restore the ipod? I managed to get through to some diagnostic tool on the ipod manually (M25 diagnostic) by clicking left and select after the resetting, and the automatic diagnostic didnt find anything wrong??
Any ideas? Please help as this is now getting me down..

i have the exact same issue. this article doesnt help beucase windows can't see the ipod at all. i've done as much as i can but i can't do anything to the actual ipod becuase my computer can't see it! booooooooooooo

I hate to be beating a dead horse. I have just read pages and pages of this BS. I had not updated it for months, because I have been way to busy. I added songs as recently as june 6th. I update today and poof no iPod?
As I read down the other massive numbers of posts, I noticed no answer or resolve at that time?
I am wondering if a definative answer actually ever occured. Since they locked that one up and threw away the key I had to start a new one here.

I must say, for people running out to get anew iphone seems quite a bit ridiculous, considering Apple can't get this issue straightened out.
Consider the following, there are literally hundred of thousands of posts on the internet reguarding this major issue. No clear answer or resolution?
Even after: doing the 5 R's, and everything else Apple has listed, nothing works. Then moving on to microsoft for an answer that was linked on the Apple website, that fails to work. Apple passing the buck to microsoft, then microsoft has links passing the buck to Apple.
The fact is Apple made it, it should work. Hard to beleive this is a state of the art company, that has used quauntum physics to help develop their chips and other resale to have a mishap like this one.
In additon, a major company like this should not have a hiddiously slow website that is competition for the snail and Medussa herself.

Nano 5th gen, not seen in windows or itunes, older ipod IS

OK my ipod is a Nano 5th Gen and the Mrs is 2nd gen, as soon as i plug her ipod into my win 7 pc it comes up fine in both explorer and itunes so my system is working fine i guess.
However when ever i plug my in nothing happen, not showing up in itunes or windows explorer or right clicking on my computer and selecting "Manage" right clicking "Disk Management" or "Device Manager" there is NO mention of Apple device, tried resetting it by turning lock on then off then menu/centre button, which did reset the ipod but still not showing up in either windows or ituens.
Just wondering what i'm missing her, I do have access to the mrs laptop with ituens on but of course it has her music on, **** while i was typing i got hers out plugged my ipod into her laptop and again nothing in itunes or explorer so i'm 99.9% the issue is with my Nano.
So is she dead and times to go and buy something new or does anyone have any suggestions for a fix?

Try one or more of the following:
Restart your computer
Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes
Reset iPod (will not delete everything)
Check in My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista & 7) and see if it shows
Restore iPod (will delete everything)
Make sure iTunes and iOS firmware is up to date

EA4500 Windows 7 cannot index files so files not seen by Windows Media Player

I have setup a disk on the USB port of the EA4500 and have 4 folders. One being music. I want to access this folder via my Wireless laptop with Windows Media Player but I only get a handful of the 3000+ songs on the disk. A hard wired PC can access the files but not a wireless laptop. I'm not sure where the issue is. If I use the drive via //host/Music the Star ratings are not available but I get all music, if I map a drive then I get star rating but only a handful of songs. I have tried to change permission but I cannot change the file permissions on the Linksys.

You should be able to change the permissions in the router page. Are you using the Classic Firmware or the Linksys Smart Wifi? If you are using the Linksys Smart Wifi firmware, it is under USB Storage > Folder Access. If you are using the Classic Firmware, it is under Storage > Administration. The laptop should be able see all files just like the desktop.

Files not seen by Windows 7

We are running a windows SBS 2011 Standard server. Sometimes when we scan a document from our Xerox 5755 scanner to a folder on the server we can't see it on the first Win 7 machine to open the file. You can go to another Win 7 machine and see the
files. If you change the name of the file on the second machine it shows up on the first machine. Any ideas?

Did you mean that you can access the folder, just can’t find that scanned file?

Would you please let me know which user account you used to logon the problematic Windows 7 client computer? Please use another user account (even domain administrator account) to logon this Windows 7, then check if the same issue still exists.
3. Would you remember whether there has any difference between the problematic Windows 7 and that good one? Such as: different updates, different settings (firewall and so
on)? Anything you can find, please feel free to let me know.
4. Please use following hotfix and monitor the result.
SMB2 directory cache is not updated correctly if a file is
deleted in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

Photo CD created by Disk Utility not seen by Windows

With my Disk Utility, I created a photo CD (appendable) - common .jpg, nothing special. When my daughter tried to print the pics with Windows, her PC said that the disk was blank. The Genius Bar at the nearest Apple store was not much helpful. Besides, my iMac considered the blank CD-R just 88Mb capable. Can anybody help?

Yeah OS X's Disk Utility doesn't burn using the ISO 9660 file system while Finder does (I could swear I made a copy of an MS Office CD with Disk Utility, but maybe I'm remembering wrong). Anyway, Disco (a program I got in a MacHeist bundle) will make an exact copy of CDs. Anyone looking for a free solution, check out LiquidCD and burn, which may have the ability to copy Windows CDs (appears to be on their lists of features, but I haven't tried them myself).
