Not sending attachments

My MacBook Pro stopped sending attachments through e-mail and all other web applications. Any idea why this is happening?

When I send attachments from my Exchange account, it shows that I sent them, but the receiver of the e-mails does not get them??

    Hi
Since moving to iCloud my mail not sending attachments any answers?

After the migration I started having problems with all NON Apple things.
Now, as of July, 6th this is my situation:
Lion devices and iOS5 devices (MacBook, MacPro, iPhone 4s and iPad I) - fine
have a look here for info:
AUTOMATIC SETUP FOR APPLE MAIL ON LION MACS

Snow Leopard - set up after some trouble using these instructions:
OLDER SERVER FOR APPLE MAIL ON PRE OS 10.7 MACS

Non Apple clients should work with these instructions but I still cannot get MailForge to work:

With my HP (Palm) Pre 3 I am still figuring out why every single day they change the servers:
this however might help you as the Palm is more similar to the BB than the iPhone:
PALM PRE 3 SETTINGS: I also have updated the password on iCloud, deleted the old iCloud account on the Pre, created a new one. Please note that it now sends using the older server, I do not know for how long.

  • TS3276 Hotmail on Mac Mail not sending attachments

I have my hotmail account set up with Mac Mail. I can send & receive emails without any problems, however as soon as I attach anything (small or large) it will not send. The same attachments will send fine if I log onto Hotmail through Safari/chrome. This has only been happening in the last week or so.
What do I need to do?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Why can I not send attachments with emails?

Since updating to Maverick have been unable to send attachments to emails. WHY?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Mail will not send attachments

Ok riddle me this: I can send and receive mail without trouble. I cannot send any email with attachments. On my campus (high school) all other mac users cannot send attachments. It all started around 12 noon today. We're pretty sure its not an account setting or something. Thanks!!

What indicates you cannot send attachments? Any errormessages?
    Here is what I discovered:
    1) When I send email with an attachment (2 screendumps that I just made) to my Tiger mailserver at home (over the internet) the transmission stops (in this case) at 27%... Looks like the connection was lost... Mail.app tells me that it cannot send email using this smtp-server and offers me to choose another one...
When I look at the log-file on the server at home I see:
Nov 29 08:13:48 Server postfix/smtpd[17690]: timeout after DATA from pbo....
    2) I changed SMTP-server to a relay SMTP-server at the office and retransmitted this email...
The SMTP-server accepted the email and tries to send it to the next relay-SMTP-server...
The process aborts with the message that the 2 SMTP-relays lost the connection while sending the body. This means that while the message has gone out of my Mac, it will probably NEVER reach it's destination!!!
I then logged in onto the relay that the Mac sent the email to, the relay that cannot send it to the next relay.... I went to the postfix directory and found the 'deferred' email...
When I looked at that email-file I was surprised to see that it looked like a mess... Not the kind of email-files that I was used to (I have been a postmaster for many, many years, so I know what email-files should look like!)... It seems that Mail.app has created an outgoing-email-file that is far from perfect, and that SMTP-servers are having troubles receiving those...
Sure wish Apple fixes this problem soon!!!

  • Mail not sending attachments

On behalf of a friend who I usually do phone support for when he has a problem.
    This problem has stumped me!
    Mail 4.5 (1084)
    Mac OSX 10.6.8
He has mail set to access Gmail (IMAP) and it works fine when sending a normal email, however, when sending an attachment, the activity monitor, goes halfway and then the reate drops off and the mesage about cannot be sent from this outgoing server is displayed. - mesage goes to outbox. - Open that message back up, delete the attachment and send, it goes no problems.
Tried to work out what the problem is, by:
checking Gmail (with attachments) through browser, sent OK
trying different file types, jpg, txt, zip, and different ways of attaching them, either from menu or dragging them into the meassga pain. - No send
repair permissions for mac, incase any pref files corrupt. - No send
brand new jpg created from photoshop - No send
image emailed from me, copied to desktop and then sent back to me - No send
So wondering what it could be.
I'm thinking of suggesting he updates to Lion, however, he has some equipment and software (scanner and camera) that may not work with Lion!
You guys got any ideas? - thanks in advance!

    Thanks Gerry
The files are tiny (few kb)
I thought about windows friendly files, but we are both Mac (and Mail) users. I will suggest that.

  • Mail not sending attachments properly

Hi- I'm trying to send clients emails with attachments. They are receiving the emails, but with no attachment. I sent it to a coworker and the attachment was there. Additionally, another coworker sent the same message to the client, and the attachment was sent with it. "Always send Windows-friendly Attachments" is checked, the whole attaching process is completely normal, but some clients are not getting my attachments.
The machine I am using is a Mac Mini with OS 10.5.8, Mail version 3.6.
Any ideas of what I could do?

You aren't the only one having this problem. Maybe this will help. If you monitor the "More Like This" box, other solved threads appear. Opening them usually displays other threads.

  • How do I NOT send attachments to CC and BC recipients

I used to be able to do it in Entourage. I want to forward and email with attachments, but not have the attachments go to CC and BC recipients. Looked everywhere in preferences. I'm stuck. Is this possible?

    Mail doesn't support that.
According to the RFCs that cover e-mail, the Cc and Bcc are simply headers that control the copy and deliver of the message. They should all receive the same body of the message. The behavior of Entourage was dependent on a feature of MS exchange that subverted the normal rules for how e-mail is transferred and would strip the attachments if requested to do so. Standard mail client software wouldn't do this.

  • I can not send attachments while using Firefox. I can send attachments with Safari. Can you please help me?

When I try to attach a file I click attach and am able to select a file but when I try to send the email a box appears saying that the attachment is still downloading. I have tried leaving the email about 5 minutes before I send it but I still get the same message. If I do send the email it arrives without the attachment.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 20.0: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Mac
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • Mail wont send attachments..

My mail program (2.2.1) wont send emails with attachments, particularly images. It places them in the outbox, sometimes without the attachment. If it is with the attachment, when I open them up and try to send them, it crashes the entire program.
This is particularly frustrating as I am a photographer who needs this desperately...
I'm not sending attachments larger than 10M as I know this is my limit, I've looked through previous posts and tried deleting plists and rebuilding things. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be. I had a g4 12inch powerbook and I had no problems with this....
    Thanks.

It places them in the outbox, sometimes without the attachment.
Do you get an error message when this happens?
when I open them up and try to send them, it crashes the entire program.
Does it really crash (i.e. quit unexpectedly) or does it freeze (i.e. become unresponsive)?
    <hr>
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations, and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
Do you have any Mail plug-ins? In the Finder, go to each of the following folders (if they exist). What do you see there?
    /Library/InputManagers/
    /Library/Mail/Bundles/
    ~/Library/InputManagers/
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles/
To make accurately reporting this information easier, you may open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, type the following command (you can just copy it here and paste it in Terminal), and press <Return>. You can then copy the output of that command from Terminal and paste it in your reply to this post:
    ls -1 /Library/InputManagers /Library/Mail/Bundles ~/Library/InputManagers ~/Library/Mail/Bundles
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • Can't send attachments, can barely send emails at times since updated OS.

Mac's Mail app. 2.1 will not send attachments anymore (on or about the time I updated 3 of my copmuters to OS X 10.4.7. At times I can barely send emails, especially if they have more than a few lines of content! I can, however, receive email. My ISP, Adelphia, in Los Angeles, says everything's fine on their end and it's the Mail application. This is ridiculous. It started a week ago, then stopped doing it, and now it's totally worthless again. I've read numerous accounts of this in the discussions, but every "solution" seems needlessly complex. Can anyone help?
    Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hi Freder,
    That's interesting...
Possibility: Some mail or account setting or preference file is corrupted
Make a new user account (System Preferences > Accounts; click the lock icon to authenticate, then the "+" icon). Log out of your account (under the Apple menu) and log into the new account. Run Mail and set up the Adelphia account. Can you send from here? To avoid confusion, don't receive mail in the new account -- look at Mail > Preferences > General and the check for new mail option to prevent an automatic receive.
Possibility: There's something else going on on your system
While sending a large message you know will fail, watch your system with Activity Monitor (in Applications/Utilities). Be sure the popup at top says All Processes, then click the % CPU column to show heavy CPU users. What is using your system? How much CPU is used? How much free disk space and free RAM is there? (The latter two items are under the Disk Usage and System Memory tabs at the bottom.)
Possibility: the connection to Adelphia is a problem
Web browsing is OK? You say that web mail works fine. Would you notice a drop out of your network connection for, say, five seconds while browsing the web? That's long enough to interrupt mail but short enough that you might just put it down to a slow page load. Watch network activity in Activity Monitor, the Network tab at the bottom. Does it drop to zero for a while before Mail fails?
If you can try the suggestions and answer the questions, I think we'll whittle this down enough to propose a solution.

  • How can I send attachments as an icon and not a full page pasted in my document?

I send a lot of attachments in my job and I am new to apple.  90% of the time I can not get an attachment to be the same as when I used a pc.  It paste it as a full document.  I have looked at help and I have been able a few times to click "view as an icon" but often that is not given to me as an option.  I have checked in the send mail box 'send word friendly" but still most of the time I can not send an attachment properly. does it need to be a certian extention or what?  Why?  Help!!

The easiest way to do this from the Finder is simply drag the document icon onto the Mail icon in the Dock. That will open Mail with the document already attached.
If the recipient reports problems, try compressing the document first. Highlight the document and choose "Compress" from the Finder's File menu. Then drag it to Mail.
If the recipient still reports problems, you may first have to save the document in Word in a compatible format. If your PC colleagues are using an earlier version of Word you will have to use the lower common format.
