Not showing in Itunes (different)

Hello,
I have read the other posts regarding this issue however I have a different problem
I am not seeing the ipod in Itunes (ver 7)
However my computer recognizes it, and the updater recogizes it, firmware wersion 1.2
In Itunes when I run Diagnostics it SEES it, lists the device and the serial number and bus speed.
Why won't it show in the left column and update the playlist??

make sure you have installed working usb driver for the computer
try a different usb port
try rebooting the computer
test with another computer to verify that the issue is not with the cable or the connector in the iphone

Ipad 2 does not show in itunes

My ipad 2 was completely dead last night so I plugged it in to charge using the 10W wall charger that came with it and noticed that it did not vibrate when I plugged it in nor did it show the lightning bolt showing it was charging. I left it alone from a few hours and when I checked, it was up to 12%. Normally a few hours will almost fully charge it. I swapped out a few different cables, chargers, and even plugged it into my mac USB, and none of them vibrated and showed the lightning bolt. When I plug it into my Mac, it does not show in iTunes at all under devices. I plugged in my iPhone and iPod and both showed instantly. I decided to leave the paid charge overnight on the wall charger to see what would happen.
This morning it was up to 53%. I updated the iPad 2 software to iOS 5.1.1, updated iTunes to 10.6.1, updated all software on my Mac (I have OS X 10.6.8) and still doesnt show in iTunes and none of the chargers or cables make it vibrate when plugged in and none show the charging bolt. I deleted iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device driver and then reinstalled thinking perhaps the mobile device driver was messed up - didnt help.
On the iPad 2, I went to settings/general/reset/reset network settings - no help.
Of course, throughout this I have reset my Mac several times, reset the iPad both by sliding the bar to shut down and by holding down the reset button & home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears, and as stated above tried several wall chargers and USB cables that works on my other i products. So I do not think its something obvious like that.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Let me know when you figure this out. I am experiencing the exact same situation. Just started this morning after I switched my mobileme account to icloud. I can see my iphone in itunes, but when I plug my ipad in, nothing. Not on any computer. I have always been able to sync and charge with no trouble. Now my ipad is slowly turning in to a door stop.

Does it say that it works with iOS devices (iPhone, iPod touch or iPhone)? iOS devices have a different format/file system than other iPods.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

If the "old model" is the 2nd gen shuffle, are you using it with the original USB docking cable that came with it? It has a mini-dock at the iPoid end. The docking cable for the 3rd and 4th shuffles do not work with the 2md gen shuffle, because the connector is different.

I have transferred my music to new computer but music is not showing in iTunes - although is on the computer as if I select a song from the folder it will play that song via iTunes. How can I get my music to show?

I have transferred my music to a new computer following the instructions carefully but for whatever reason the music does not show on iTunes on the new computer. The music is there as I can access it via My Computer and if I select a song it will show in iTunes and play - however I can not do this for every single track! If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Next try on another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem.

when i connect my ipod to my computer it charges but does not show under itunes or in windows. i've tried all the Rs except one...restore. and the only reason i haven't tried restore is because i can't access my ipod under itunes to run the restore! someone pls help if u can...i'm just about ready to smash the thing!i've spent hours these past two weeks trying to get it to open under itunes with no luck. sometimes it pops up as a "new device that is not working properly", but then it just disappears again and i can't find it under my devices!! somebody, anybody, pls help!

I have a simelar problem. My wife had an ipod mini which was synced to itunes, I brought her a 4GB ipod nano yesterday and I told her just plug it into the computer and then it will have auto instructions.
Actually what happens is nothing, I plug it in and it charges, nothing else. I have uninstalled itunes and downloaded it again but it still has my mums ipod mini songs on there.
basically the ipod does not seem to sync with itunes...any help will be appriciated.

On an iPod Nano 2G, the iPod will not show in iTunes

Using an iPod Nano 2 G, when I plug it into a Mac, the iPod will not show in iTunes. The iPod will charge, but will not sync. This happens across multiple Mac's, so the issue seems to be the Nano, not the computer(s). The iPod will actually show for about 2 seconds in the left sidebar, then it disappears. Any suggestions about how to either fix this, or maybe how to restore the iPod's software. The iPod otherwise seems to be working correctly, i.e. will play music, etc. we have tried switching ports, cables and computers, same results.

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

Before you connect any device to a new library go to the Devices tab of the the preferences panel via Edit > Preferences (Windows) or iTunes > Preferences (Mac) and ensure the box next to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically is ticked. You can now safely connect the device to your computer without the danger of media being automatically deleted or overwritten.
To get all your content off your connect your iPad to your new computer.
Then use a 3rd party piece of software to transfer your content
