Not sure of zen microphoto feature

Hi,
Been browsing on-line for data and reviews on microphoto, which I intend to purchase. I am very interested weather it can be used for direct photo transfer from digital camera (in my case konica minolta a200) this would be a great feature for me when travelling longer periods.
I've also followed the discussion on the forum (and @ nomads) about the firmware requests? Do you think (or have you seen) that there will be continuous development of the zen series thru firmwares or will it plain "new feature-new product" non consumer friendly strategy?
I've also been stupendified on the fact that the MP does not work unless XPsp is installed due to the MTP? Naturally the section made as hard dri've can be used as normal, lettered dri've under all os's? or have I misunderstood it's
All comments and info especially is most appreciated.

pumpuli .. re item , I (have just bought the microphoto) but highly doubt you could direct xfer photos to it while travelling (although is a great request and I'd use it the same way). It does not have a card reader, and if you connected a card reader to it via USB, I doubt that the unit has the drivers etc. to do that. not that it could not be developed by creative but it would have to be prioritized...not sure if there's any hacks out there to do this..would be interesting to see. can't comment on the other items. good luck!

    Hi,
Really like my Lumia 800 on the whole, however:
1 It would be nice if the player remembered the last position of a podcast. If that’s not possible could it be made possible to scroll to a position in a podcast rather keeping fingers on next or previous track keys
    2. The call/voice command option on the inline remote is unavailable once you have started using the music player. I had to reboot the phone to be able to use it to voice dial.
    3. When on vibrate and using the music player with earphones the player didn’t pause on an incoming call. It would be nice if on vibrate you still had some audible alert (only when earphones are connected and played through earphones etc..) when you have an incoming call.
    4. Brings me nicely to notification volume when earphones attached. Way too loud.
Yes I have updated to the latest firmware.
    Thanks

This isn't the correct site for these types of request. Nokia do not create or control the OS of the phone, Microsoft do
    Try http://windowsphone.uservoice.com/forums/101801-feature-suggestions for feature suggestions.
That is the official site for this kind of thing.
    1. It would be yes, but this is the way Microsoft have designed it, this can be requested at the link above.
    2. The remotes still works, hold the button down for a couple of seconds and it will go into voice activation mode.
    3. This is a bit of a strange request, you want vibrate only and an audio alert at the same time? Why not just leave the ringer on, note that you can add custom ringtones so you can make it make whatever sound you like.
    4. This is a known bug with the latest update, hopefully Nokia is working on it and will fix it in a future update.

  • New Zen MicroPhoto not seen by XP or Vi

I'm a total newbie to Creative MP3 players. Just got one yesterday from Electronica Direct via Amazon's store. Running Vista on an HP Pavilian dual core (just 3 months old so very new cutting edge hardware) and running XP on a 5 year old Sony Vaio laptop. Both have latest MS service paks and security fixes.
Also, I appear to be running latest Creative stuff since when I check for updates it reports it doesn't find any. The Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer reports v5.0.2 and:
Creative Import Wizard File (Version .0.25.0)
Creative Audio CD Ripper (Version 5.00.20)
    Creative Sync Manager (Version 5.20.09)
    Creative Playlist Wizard (Version 3..5.0)
    PIM Editor (Version .3.0.0)
Creative Media Explorer reports on both PCs when Zen MicroPhoto plugged into USB:
"Your player is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer."
I can play the music that comes with the Zen. I have used the supplied cable to plug into various USB ports on both PCs. Each time the Creative Media Explorer reports it doesn't see anything.
Under System info the MicroPhoto reports it is version .20.0.
If I unplug the USB plug from the MicroPhoto and then plug it in the MicroPhoto starts itself up. So does that mean it is seeing something electrically from the PC?
In both XP and Vista if I try to close the Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer clicking on the red X does not close it.
In the HP Vista Device Manager under Portable Devices I only see:
    USB CF Reader
    USB MS Reader
    USB SD Reader
    USB SM Reader
Right clicking and doing "Scan for hardware changes" does not help.
In the HP Vista Device Manager under "Uni'versal Serial Bus controllers" I see Intel chips, a USB Mass Storage Device and a bunch of USB Root Hub entries. No Creative device. Also, doing "Scan for hardware changes" does not help in this category either.
Similarly, I do not see the Zen MicroPhoto in the XP Vaio's Device Manager. The Vaio XP Device Manager does not show a "Portable Devices" entry in the main list.
Also, the Vaio's original USB ports are v.. If plug into one of them I can power up the MicroPhoto. The Vaio also has PCMCIA USB 2.0 extender ports and they appear not to provide enough power to start up the MicroPhoto. Does the MicroPhoto need USB 2.0?
I am open to suggestions for things to try...

Bump... I am having issues with duplicate tracks and allt he other crap that goes with mediasource...any help to get my explorer back would be appreciated.

  • Installing Zen Microphoto 8 GB on Vi

Windows Vista (32bit) does not install my Zen Microphoto 8 GB.
Upon connecting the device via USB, it tries to install it as an MTP-device. The installation fails. ('The device does not start' Code 0.)
According to the Driver Availability Chart support should be native.
I have already upgraded the firmware to .3.0e (on another PC).
I tried to connect it via USB connections on the front and at back.
    I used different cables.
    All to no avail.
    Any suggestions

the screen? really? i was thinking some sort of power/battery glitch, since i get no backlight, no lights on the keyboard, no light on the on/off switch when it's not hooked up to the computer via usb. also coz that "your battery level is too low" error message.
actually, it's probably BOTH a power issue and screen issue, now that i think about it. *sigh* guess i'll contact the seller and see what he'll do. yeah, normally i have luck on ebay. my little zenv plus was certainly a good buy. oh well.
thank you for your prompt response.

  • Zen Microphoto works with USB1.1, but not USB

I recently bought a Zen Microphoto 8gb. After some trouble installing it, i finally got it to work. My computer has 6 USB-ports, where 2 is USB. compliant, and 4 are USB2.0 compliant. I connected the Microphoto to one of the USB. ports, and Windows XP installed it automatically after a few seconds. This works fine.
But I want faster transfer speeds, so I connected the player to one of my USB2-ports, expecting it to work equally there. What happens when I do this, is that Windows XP acts as the player is not installed.. A message at the systray tells me "Creative Labs ZEN MicroPhoto found", and a driver install window pops up telling me to insert the included CD to install the driver (obviously because the driver now isn't implemented in XP)
I then tried to uninstall the players drivers and then plug it in the USB2.0 ports. Just the same problem.
Windows finds the drivers when connecting it to USB., but not when connecting it to USB2.0
I have Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Media Player 0. Can anyone help me, as I am a music artist, and need a working MP3-player.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I have the same problem actually. Works fine on my USB1.1, but it was a bit slow, so i bought a PCI USB 2 Card. When I plug it in, I get the generic hdd and nothing in iTunes. I got it working a few times in the USB2, but only after reinstalling and installing the iPod software, but it stops working the next time i connect to it.
Not sure what the issue is so far.

  • "the device is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to your computer" ?

Hi I have just bought it today, and the installation went thru without any trouble. Then when I connected my mp3 player as the book says I for one cant install it (since there's no driver for it) and when I look in the 'Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer' it claims that my device is not connected even though my computer has detected it - but can't install it for some reason. Any solutions, suggestions anything?thx in advance

I'm having the same problem with my zen vision m. It worked the first time I plugged it in, but now it doesn't work. The player says it's docked, and the computer says it detects it in the taskbar, but none of the programs recognize it. I've tried WMP, Musicmatch jukebox, the media explorer, and the source organizer but nothing recognizes it. I've restarted the computer, restarted the player, clicked "refresh devices" a hundred times and it still doesn't work. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Zen microphoto-computer does not detect it, help ple

I got my zen microphoto for christmas, so i have had it less than a month. a few days ago the screen froze on me while i was looking for music to listen to. i had been listening to it for about an hour or so, the album once done and i went to get somehting else to listen to and it froze. I tried plugging it into the computer and that didn't make a diffrence. i couldn't shut it down, turn the lock on nothing. but it did make noise when touching the arrows and stuff. just didn't do anything. i let the battery go dead. then i plugged it into the computer and charged the battery. when i turned it on i got the page where you can reboot. so i rebooted and that was it. the last option of the four. it rebooted and i could listen to music, battery charges.
I notice when i plug it into the computer the little charge icon is over the battery and flashing and the battery charges but i don' tget the picture of the usb connection to the comptuer that would show up before when i plugged it in. also the computer doesn't make the little noise that it used to either when i plugged it in. zen creative says i need to plug in my device, windows media player doesn't see it either.
i tried reinstalling the creative stuff, turn off the player and take out the battery and all that, and i cleaned it (first option) and then rebooted (last option). i didn't do the two in the middle, reformating and the firmware thing.
if anyone can help me that would be great and much appreciated.
    thanks-alex

snoweagle-you are the best. thank you so much. still wasn't really sure what you are talking about with the SP (service pack) stuff. but i went to downloads for zen micro and there were three options. took the first application download. downloaded it, installed it, restarted my computer...and it works. i have the docked word with the usb icon on my screen and i can open up and edit my music. (haven't tried to import something yet but i'm sure i'll be able to) i didn't know that i had to keep up with the new downloads and such. thank you so much. i was on the verge of tears...thank you and i hope you are around for awhile in case i have other questions. thank you thank you thank you-alex

  • ZEN Microphoto will not sta

I have a Zen Microphoto that freezes at the Creative logo on start up.
I have tried recovery mode but it will not do anything e.g. reload firmware, format etc. Also it is not recognised by the PC allthough it does charge from the USB when battery is completely flat.
Anybody know how to fix this?
Or can anybody tell me how to get it repaired by Creative?
    Thanks

    I can help..
I've repaired about 5 Microphotos. When you can't boot beyond the initial Creative screen, it's the hard drive that's died. Don't quote me, but Creative quoted me something like $5 to replace the HD. Not really worth it IMHO. I've been buying the Microphotos on eBay for about $0 each, and there's a vendor on eBay that sells new 8 gig HDs for about $45 FOB Taiwan or something like that. Taking the Microphotos apart is a bit tricky, you can snap one of the connectors off the PC boards when you pull the unit apart. It happened to the first unit I opened, and happened once more when I pulled the 0th one apart or so.
If you want, email me at [email protected] I have a few parts and such including a new hard dri've left over from all of the ones I bought. Now that I have 7 working 8 gig units, I don't need any more.. I can either repair it for you or send you a hard dri've. Contact Creative though first in case the quoted price by me above is inaccurate.

  • Zen microphoto not charging through

I'm trying to charge my zen microphoto in a friends computer and it just won't charge. The signal is flashing the computer recognizes the device but the battery is still in /3 although there's been 6 hours since I plugged it...
note that I have a usb connection, that the computer is a laptop, I don't have the software installed, and I haven't updated the firmware...
    what could be wrong?

For my Micro there is an option that you can set the player in Lock mode and then insert the usb cable to the pc which has not drivers installed to enable charging of the player. Try that out.
However, this is with an updated firmware to at least ..0 for my zen micro. Check with the microphoto firmware for more infoMessage Edited by microm3 on 08-02-2006 0:9 PM

  • Creative Zen Microphoto Not Detec

    Hello all,
I bought a Creative Zen Microphoto yesterday and when I try and plug it in to my USB port nothing happens. I've tried holding the on/off button, I've tried it when it's on. I've tried all of my USB Ports. I've tried it on two different computers.
My computers are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2. I've disabled Norton while trying all of the above. Before plugging my mp3 player in I installed all the software that come on the CD.
    Just to clarify this:
The Microphoto won't charge, be detected, etc while in the USB port. It runs fine off my PC ( plays the pre-installed songs, etc ) but as I cannot plug it in to my PC to charge it, add, songs, etc I cannot add my own songs.
Windows doesn't even pop up saying new hardware has been detected, or a USB device has been detected. It just remains how it was before I plugged the device in to my PC.
My computer doesn't show it in removalable devices, nor in Windows Media Player 0.
    Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.Message Edited by Kemik on 07-3-2006 05:3 AM

Try this, go into the Control Panel and click Add/Remove Hardware. Just click next and see if it detects newly added hardware.
Can your computer detect any old flash dri've?

  • Zen microphoto not work

i got my zen microphoto about 3 months ago and about 2 weeks ago it starting messing up. when i turn it on it will just say creative on the screen and thats all it will do. its like it freezes up.
anybody know what i should do?

Our Micro photo started doing the same exact thing. We eventually noticed that it will turn on, but only after the player has been frozen at the logo screen for 20 or 30 minutes. We also noticed that it will turn off and on within very readily (within 2-3 seconds) when it's been running for a while. Basically it won't turn on when it's "cold". Why would this be and any thoughts on how to fix it's
We have reinstalled the firmware. It didn't help.

  • Creative Zen Microphoto 8GB hangs

    Hello,
I have seen a lot of posts on the same subject here, but have not seen any resolution yet.
I am sure the story sounds familiar... hangs at "Creative" logo, I go into recovery mode, and run scan disk or format etc... They don't work. I have even left the player on "formatting" overnight until the battery drains and it never finishes, same goes for "Scanning".
I am on my 4th player now and am having the same issue again. This time the player is now out of warranty so I can't return it, and I am not paying money out of my own pocket to get this thing fixed. Please don't tell me this product is defecti've... I don't buy that excuse. And it isn't a corrupt file, because a reformat would fix that.
Once it hangs, my computer won't recognize it, so I can't even try to update the firmware or anything.
Any new updates or information on this issue? It is obviously a well documented problem...just google "Creative zen freezes" and see how any hits you get!
I am pretty disappointed with this player. I should have followed my gut instinct in the first place, and just bought an iPod. I spent a lot of money on this paper weight. Any help, advice, prayers,or donation$ (for a new iPod) would ge greatly appreciated!

Right you will need to download the latest firmware from this site.
Here is a hyperlink to where you can download the firmware:
    http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...lect=4&x=9&y=2
You might have to put some details in.
Once you have downloaded the latest firmware just start the program up.
Plug in your Zen into the PC and then press the "Reload Firmware" button on your Zen.
You should see your computer screen pick it up.
Then you click on your PC to install firmware.
    That should be it.
    I hope this hel
    ps.
Got any questions you have just post on this space.
I do apologise if this does not make much sence my grammer is not that brilliant.

  • Zen Microphoto Pixel Problems (Red Li

OK, so I have a BRAND NEW Zen Microphoto and ever since I first turned the thing on I have this RED LINE (about pixel wide) running vertically down the middle of my screen. It's like you can still see what's there behind it if you look closely.
I actually had gotten it go away for a little while, and it has come back and has been there since. So I don't believe there is damage to the actual OLED screen, but who knows I'm no professional here!!
Other than the annoying line the player seems to be working fine.. but like I said, its ANNOYING.
I have tried a few things to fix it.. I've formatted it and rebooted it from Recovery Mode.. I've TRIED to update the firmware, but I can't seem to get the Firware Update to connect to my Microphoto. Windows, Windows Media Player, and Creative MediaSource Organizer reads it being there.. yet NOT the Firmware Update. Actually I THINK I got WIndows to update the Firmware for me or something because accorinding to my Microphoto it already has that version on there?
If anyone has any suggestions, or heard of this happening PLEASE let me know. I'm not really sure what to do at this point. I looked all over the place to find one, and when I finally did I'm having problems with it!
    Thanks!

I am having the exact same problem with my Zen Microphoto. There is a vertical red line in the display. It appears to be pixel in width extending the height of the screen, top to bottom. EXTREMELY annoying!
What is Creative's policy to fixing this?

  • Just got my white Zen MicroPhoto (warning: large pi

I finally got my white Zen MicroPhoto in from Singapore yesterday (I'm in the USA).
Overall I am very impressed and so far, the only thing that I have found that I'm not really fond of is the size/shape of the screen. It is definitely more of a square than a rectangle, which leads to more of the song info being cut off as opposed to the regular Zen Micro.
The sides and back (battery cover) are now made out of annodized metal instead of plastic. And the hold button, usb port, and headphone jack all seem a lot more sturdy, but at this point in time I'm not willing to do any further testing on that (especially the headphone jack) for obvious reasons.
Also, there is a piece of paper in the box that says the PlaysForSure feature will be available soon via a firmware download.
Feel free to ask me any questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability.
    Cheers, Alex

Yup, I had a 5gb Zen Micro, one of the first ones that came out (and I didn't start having the headphone jack problem with mine until about 0 months after owning it). I cannot notice a difference between the sound quality but I will say the sound quality is greatly affected by which headphones you are using. When switching between the stock head phones and a pair of iPod Headphones, the iPod headphones sounded slightly better but the volume was much lower. I've honestly never listened to any other current MP3 players so I can't make a good comparison there, but I will say there is little if no difference in sound quality between the Zen Micro and the Zen MicroPhoto. I do not find the OLED screen to be dim at all, it's bright enough to be read in almost any condition I've used it in so far. The screen looks very nice, it's not anything spectacular but it shows photos quite nicely, minus the fact that the screen is a little square. I would probably rate it around an 8 but I'm going to take a look at my friends iPod Photo on Monday and see if i can compare.
