Not synching modified pictures

I noticed that the iphone is not synching with the modified pictures, and wondered how I could change this.
While I don't necessarily mind only having the original photos on the iPhone, there are several pictures where there is red eye, and I removed it through editing, but the edited (modified pictures) don't show up.
Is there a way to get it to synch with the modified folder and not the origingal folder.
I tried synching first with the album de-selected, and the photos were deleted off the iPhone. I then selected the album again, and the pictures were placed back onto the iPhone, but they were still the originals.
I am running iLife 08.
Thanks in advance.
Russell

I'm having the same type of problem. I modified a picture within iPhoto08 that was part of an album that was already on the iPhone and created a new album. I deleted the old album from the iPhone and re-synced it with the new album with the modified pix.
BUT... the same unmodified pix still comes up on the iPhone!
I deleted the album from the iPhone again. Shut the iPhone down, restarted, and re-synced with the correct album on the MacBook. The unmodified pix still comes up.
Anyone figured out a way to truly get rid of an old pix on the iPhone and replace it with a new one?

  • Modified pictures not updated in iPhoto

    Hi everyone,
I'm using iPhoto 11(9.3.2) to manage my photolibrary. Best tool ever.
For modifying my pictures, I use the external application Photoshop Elements 10(10.0)
Opening the external app, including the chosen picture works fine. Saving also.
However: if I try to see the modifications I've made (with PSE) in iPhoto: No modifications.
I found out that the modified picture was saved in the 'Preview'-folder (find it through finder)
So: Photoshop Elements seems to save the picture in that folder; not in the 'master' or 'thumbnail', and I don't know why, and how to change that.
Does anyone have a clue, how to solve this?
    Thanks for your advice!

Hi Terence, thanks for your comment so far.
No what I do is as follows:
In the external editor, I make the modifications.
After that I choose Save from the File menu.
    Then this screen appears:
So there is a field named Save as, NO save field. Whether I choose a different name filename, it doesn't make sense.
Now, while I was writing and figuring out the previous sentence, I found out what contributed to the problem:
The initial filename format in iPhoto is *.JPEG
When saving the edited picture in PSE, it automatically calls it *.jpg, so without the E.
If I add this E to the filename, it updates the thumbnail in iPhoto -> Problem solved.
But there is a strange extra to this:
the picture I was modifying was scanned on an HP All-in-one scanner. For these pictures, this problem occurs.
When editing a photo, which comes from either my iPhone, iPad or my Panasonic DMC-FZ38 there is no problem.
So I may come to the conclusion that somewhere in the scanningproces on the HP an 'invisible' tag or flag or something like that is added to the picture which may caus this problem?

  • My picture folders that are checked are not synching on my iPad.  Why would that be?  I have had no issues in the past.

When synching my pictures folders that are checked, the two that I added and checked will not appear on my iPad.  The folders that I have checked and added pictures, the new pictures also do not appear on my iPad.  I am not doing anything different.  There is no "Apply" to click on; just "Synch".  Any answers to this are appreciated!

  • IMac contacts do not synch with iCloud, iPhone & iPad contacts do

When I add/modify contacts on my MacBook Pro, the changes do not synch to iCloud, or my iPhone or iPad.  Calendar items and iCloud mail do synch and contactys synch between my iPhone and iPad.  What am I missing?  I have Lion.

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

  • Creative Cloud is not synching

I started using Creative Cloud's files synching function earlier this week. I started a job at work then synched it to my home. Last night I did some updates at home but when I opened the (supposedly) synched files at the office today, some were not the latest variations.
Weirdly, though, the modification dates all show the time I finished working last night (and saved). There are also new files that I added to the folder at home, now showing up here at work. The only file that is not synching is my .muse file but that is also showing as being modified at home so I'm unclear why, contrary to the mod date, it's actually a day or so out of date.
Creative Cloud Desktop reports that all files are synched and up to date. Synching is activated from both sites so why is my Muse file not right?

  • Photos not synched correctly on iOS

    Hi and thanks for reading.
Sometimes it happens that some photos are not synched on my iOS devices through iPhoto and iTunes.
For example, I have the option to sync my last 3 months events. Everything is synched but there is one event of which I have 20 photos, all shown on iTunes iPhone synch options, but after synch I have that event with only 10 photos on the iPhone.
This is not the first time it happens.
    Any help?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

  • Syncing original (CR2) and modified pictures of iPhoto 6 on two computers

I've just faced a problem with iPhoto 6 and as I haven't found any good solution to it on Internet, I'd like to share with you all the solution I've finally applied.
I'm using iPhoto 6 both on my MacBook and my iMac. When I'm travelling I shoot in Canon Raw 2 (CR2) format, upload my pictures to my MacBook, and, eventually, I edit them in some way. When I arrive at home, I'd like to sync my iMac with Macbook's iPhoto library (both the original CR2 file and the modified files in jpg). However, this turns out to not be so easy.
I cannot just copy both the "iPhoto Library/Modified/YYYY/Rollname" and "iPhoto Library/Original/YYYY/Rollname" to iMac's iPhoto, because it isn't a file browser, but a database-based photo manager. If I import the "Original" folder with iPhoto and then copy the "Modified" folder with Finder, iPhoto won't recognise the modified picture, because according to its database that picture has never been edited.
The solution I've used it's been to import the "Original" folder, so that CR2 files are put into iPhoto. Then, modify in some random way all the images that I had edited on my Macbook (easyly identificable without the "RAW" tag), so that iPhoto will know which pictures are modified but I don't have to take care with the editing, just modify something. Next step would be to copy Macbook's "Modified" folder to the iMac. And finally, I have to execute iPhoto while keeping Command + Option keys down and select the two first options (regenerate thumbnails).
    Hope this helps someone
    Miguel

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Well, easier might be to simply use iPhoto Library Manager to move the pics, all the versions and attached metadata between libraries.
Standard warnng: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.

  • CS3 will not print color pictures

Photo Shop will not print color pictures. It printed fine for over a year then just quit printing in color a few months ago.  A work around was given by our Higher head Quarters but when printing this way the pictures do not print properly and the pictures can't be adjusted or modified any.
Machines having this problem are running Windows XP.
What are the proper setting for this program?
Do I need a software update?

Check the updater and make sure you installed the updates for Photoshop CS3.
But most likely this is a configuration issue with your printer driver.
Many drivers do have settings that force black and white printing, overriding what the application sends to the driver.

  • Finding modified pictures in iPhoto

I am creating a webpage on iWeb and am trying to put edited pictures that are in my modified folders on the page, but I'm not sure how I can find my modified pictures in the media section. Whenever I want to access my modified pictures normally I do it through finder because I don't know how to find them in iPhoto. (It appears that I HAVE to use iPhoto in iWeb and can't directly import it from finder) I know they have to be there somewhere because I tried to drag the particular modified folder I wanted into iPhoto and it says it is already there. Also I notice when I search for a particular folder in finder the path that it got there was through iPhoto then either original or modified.
Sorry if that doesn't make any sense, I've been working on it for a bit now and just can't figure it out. Any ideas?

Okay so I found this thread and it helped for future reference as far as how I can save the files in a way that I can have the edited pictures in iPhoto http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2438840&tstart=0 My only question with that is, are my originals still somewhere? Also often I like to edit a picture a few different ways, is there a way that I can edit the same picture a few different ways and have them show up in iPhoto?
How can I get photos that I have already edited and "saved as" which I now know is a no-no. There is no way I can go back through and re-edit them all. There has got to be a way somehow to add my already edited but saved wrong pictures into iPhoto so I can put them on my iWeb page.

  • Some modified pictures showing as original on iphoto

I have Photoshop Elements 3 for Mac and when I update my photos, the horizontal ones show up in their modified form on iphoto but the vertical ones show as the original. In the library both show the modified versions. I have to copy the folder to my hard drive and then send it to iphoto to get all the modified pictures to show on iphoto.
I always replace the originals to the modified in the library from the Photoshop application and they then show up as original.
Is there anyway to get iphoto to show the modified vertical pictures without doing this?

    joeytrom
It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss
Have you set PSE as an external editor in iPhoto. You can do this in the iPhoto => Preferences => General:
Edit using: and use the drop down menu to select PSE.
This means that when you double click on a pic to edit it will automatically open in PSE, and when you save it will be - again, automatically - be saved back into iPhoto.
Navigating through the folders of the iPhoto Library Folder is a recipe for disaster.

  • IPhoto for iOS : Impossible to delete modified pictures ! Bug ?

    Hi everyone,
Just downloaded iPhoto for iOS yesterday. Amazing apps except for one thing.
It seems that it's impossible to delete a modified picture and the modified pictures album !
I even tried to delete the original one in the Photos app but now I can't see my original (which is fine) but I'm still seeing the modified version !
Do I really need to delete the app and reinstall it in order to delete the picture ?
    Thanks.

    Are you sure ?
Couple of questions if so :
-> every time I make a change to a picture there's the "modified pictures" album that gets created. If I delete the original picture, the modified one stays here forever even if I revert to original. Impossible to delete ?
-> I you only have one picture in your library and you hide it, it's impossible to acces it again. I had to take another picture to show the first one ! It's not a bug ?

  • IPhone not synching all photos.

I am having a strange issue with synching my iPhoto library with my iPhone. For some reason, only about half my photos get synched onto the phone. I had first noticed this when trying to dig up some photos of my son and noticing that I only had the ones from right after he was born about a year and a half ago. Even more curious, when I tried to reset photo synching by turning it off, the phone retained the pictures.  Even stranger, I could not delete them from the iPhone by going to Settings>General>Usage.
My iPhoto library is on my Mac Mini running OS 10.6.8.  My iPhoto version is 9.2.3 (can't upgrade further without upgrading to Lion). I knew this was not an issue with insufficient space on my iPhone because the status bar at the bottom in iTunes indicates that even with the entire iPhoto library synching, 6 GB is left over.
I had seen a similar issue on someone's iPad, and the solution was to back it up through iTunes, restore the OS onto the iPad, and let the restored backup re-populate with data. Unfortunately, this did not work for my iPhone.  I even turned off photo synching before the restore to confirm that there were no photos on the phone after the iOS restore.  I then turned photo synching back on, and once again, only half of my iPhoto library synched.  I got an error message on my phone that "3,268 photos could not be synched to your iPhone because of a problem. Check iTunes for details." However, there was no message in iTunes to indicate what the error was.  The photos just did not synch.
Next, I tried emptying the iPod Photo Cache inside the iPhoto library and synched again.  iTunes rebuilt the cache, but still did not synch the photos.  I got the same error message on my phone, and no indication of a problem in iTunes.
The next thing I was going to try was to rebuild the iPhoto library, but if anyone out there has seen this issue and resolved it, please let me know, as it would save me a lot of time.

  • Trying to import pics from iphoto to imovie- can't import the PSE modified pictures.  I see them in iphoto.

Trying to import pics from iphoto to imovie- can't import the PSE modified pictures.  I see them in iphoto however they don't appear in the thumbnails in imovie.

Drag the PSE modified pictures from iPhoto to the Desktop. Open them in Preview then save as jpegs (File > Export - then choose Format JPEG). They may already be .jpg files, but are not readable by iMovie. Exporting them from Preview may fix this. Import the saved files to iPhoto - they should now work in iMovie.

  • Bluetooth does not synch with YouTube video

I like to watch YouTube videos on my Chrombook.  The sound from my bluetooth speaker does not synch up with the video.  My Macbook and Fire tablet do not have this problem.  I've tried 3 different bluetooth speakers, and the HP is the only device that does not synch properly.
I don't see any way of modifying bluetooth on the HP.
Has anyone else noticed this problem?  Is there a fix?
