I know this not the right category, but I've talked to many here about the free program MPEG streamclip. I have a friend who has a Koadak HD zI8 camcorder and is unable to edit the .MOV files using anthing else, other than the Koadk software that he doesn't like.
He would prefer to use Windows Movie Maker (ya, I know), which takes WMV files as well as AVI files.
Does anyone know if MPEG streamclip for a PC will work for this scenario?

Well I got this to work using a poop quality setting, which was DV/DVCPRO-NTSC but this was not HD or widescreen. Doesn't MPEG Streamclip have a setting that will preserve a little more quality and work on a PC since it works on a PC???

If you are going to reformat the hard drive, wiping out all data on the computer, there is no need to uninstall. Deactivation is enough.

My Driver is not the right kind but my software is unreadable????

I have a very complicated problem with my Ipod nano. My USB port does not have the right driver to update my nano but the driver needed is on the nano software, which my computer does not recognize. I have tried the 5 R's three times now, no result. Oddly enough, everything ran smoothly with my old Ipod Mini. What Is Going On?

If by the nano software, you mean the installer/updater, you can always download the most recent version of that (and iTunes) from Apple.

three computer in a dental office which i've installed the dental software on. (connected to a server)
2 of the three work flawlessly however one computer gives this error when trying to connect to an EDI server or print.

The only difference between the computers is two computers were natively MS XP Pro, and the one with the problem was originally an HP computer that shipped with XP Home edition, and was upgraded to XP Pro.

They have no internet in this office, so it's hard to trial and error and do research on location, any help is appreciated.

Sun's Java can be uninstalled using the "Add/Remove Programs" function of Windows.
You might want to test to see if the difference in the PATH is the cause. Temporarily change the PATH of the problem computer to be the same as one that works. Save the original PATH value so you can restore it after testing.

I've just got back my ibook g4 WITH leopard now installed but with all files/apps etc wiped clean; some recovered on external drive - log job to trawl through...
However, as a part shortcut to this I could possibly transfer many duplicate files/apps from my imac - if I knew how. I have them both connected via firewire but unsure how best to achieve without further potential calamity.
any advice gratefully received...

you could use Migration Assistant (it's in /Applications/Utilities) to transfer your data, apps and accounts from the iMac to the ibook.

For a start, go to the Sharing Pref Pane, enable Personal Web Sharing, then type this into your Browser's URL bar...

Please make sure that the next button is pinned to the right side as there in the attached image.
If it is already pinned, you can try removing any embedded HTML code and checking it.

unfortunately - you can not. you can't even buy outlook by itself at microsoft's own website.
does it have to be outlook? maybe you can get away with using something else that's outlook compatible.
how about trying Thunderbird for Mac OS?
or maybe you can call apple and let them know you purchase the wrong version - they might give you a break and just pay the difference for the home and business version.

Possibly.
You could test that by dropping a largish image into a test Pages document and duplicating it until your document won't send.
Some eMail clients have ceiling levels for file sizes, as do some receiving servers.
Also test to see if you can simply export your file to pdf, in which case it will be retained on your iPad. That would be a first step.

your going to have to put the ipod into recovery mode and restore the device. Unfortunatly you will lose all the info on the device after the restore but if you have a backup for the device in itunes you will be able to get all the info back if no backup is on itunes all info will be lost you can find the backups on in itunes under the edit>
preferences>devices and check for the backup
to put the ipod into recovery mode disconnect the ipod from the computer
power down the ipod
press and hold the home button than plug the device in and the itunes should give a message that states
itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode and must first be restored before it can be used
than click the restore option in the summary page and issue resolved

When importing a spreadsheet with redeem codes into apple configurator, it says it's not the right codes for the app. But it is the right codes. I used one of the codes to purchase the app in itunes.

I have a cart of 25 ipads with a macbook air. I have logged into my VPP account and purchased the needed number of copies. I downloaded the spreadsheet. I took the first code from the spreadsheet, and logged into itunes using a regular account (not my VPP account), and used the code to download the app. I put the app into configurator and then tried to add the spreadsheet with the codes in it. It comes up and tells me that it is not the correct spreadsheet for that app. But it is the correct spreadsheet!! I tried re-downloading the spreadsheet again and even tried re-downloading the app. So I've now used two of my redeem codes and still can't get it to accept it into apple configurator. I removed the app from apple configurator and re-added it. The error message says it's not the right codes for the app "Grammar Games by Tap To Learn" and to please get the codes for "Grammar Games by Tap To Learn." It's the same one!

I tried taking the version number out of the title. It looked like there were two spaces in the title "Grammar Games by Tap to Learn". So I even made sure that matched. I still can't import my codes. Any other things to try would be really appreciated.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Trying to import video"Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document"

When I try to import a video into Photoshop CS6 I get the error: "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document".
I have tried multiple formats with no luck.
I was able to improt it into Photoshop CS5 by dragging and dropping.
Im using Photoshop CS 6 64bit, have tried 32bit with no luck
If I try to drag and drop it, I get this error: could not place the document. Because no parser or file format can open the file.
I have tried opening a .mov, and a .avi file. I thought it might be a codec thing but why can cs5 open it but not cs6?
I noticed other posts with the same issue but they did not get resolved. Any help would be great.

We are still investigating this issue and would appreciate your assistance.
To rule out problems with the files you have, could you please verify the Photoshop CS5 sample file "CheeziPuffs.mov" will also not work? (program files\adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\samples)
Also would you please verify the following:
Virus/security/parental control software hasn't trapped parts of Photoshop, Bridge, Premiere, Lightroom, or any Adobe app using DynamicLinkMediaServer. (Make sure the Adobe apps are added as exceptions if needed.)
Ensure you have the latest version of QuickTime
Close all Adobe applications - wait more than 30 seconds, then launch Photoshop and try to open the file.
- If unsuccessful, view Task Manager/Processes to verify necessary processes started up when importing video (dynamiclinkmanager.exe, dynamiclinkmediaserver.exe and Adobe QT32 Server.exe)
- If unsuccessful, please capture the full error message text.
4. Close all Adobe apps, wait 30 seconds - launch Bridge and try to open the file.
If everyone is on Win 7, it makes me wonder about permissions...

This problem has been re-occuring for a day now, and I honestly have no clue why, I followed the directions. I updated my camera raw plugin, and photoshop to the lastest version. I am trying to open an avi file but it won't open it. About 4 seconds long. Usually I could but yesterday when I tried opening it, it says "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." Any suggestions because I'm trying to make gifs but I can't because photoshop won't let me open the avi. file.

Thanks, but I have a 64-bit pc, I do have photoshop cs5 64 and 32 bit but it's only avaiblable for 32 bit, i'll use it for now but if anyone has a solution for 64 bit photoshop it'd be great.
