Not the supposed 7 hours as advertised

I recently bought a MacBook Pro for college, and for the most part I'm really pleased with it. However, a big reason I bought this computer is because of it's advertised 7 hour battery life. Since I got it yesterday, I've kept it plugged in, so this might have something to do with it, but when I unplug it and it's at 99% capacity, it says it only has about four hours and twenty minutes of life left (though sometimes it'll go up to five hours and thirty minutes, but then go down to four hours or some odd minutes). In either case, it's not the seven hours I expected. I understand that running some CPU heavy programs can limit it's battery power, but I'm only running Mozilla, iTunes and iChat. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I think this is the biggest negative to the new MacBooks not having user-replaceable batteries. I bought my MBP in March and was disappointed to not have gotten in on the new units that came out in June.... UNTIL I realized I was getting 8-9 hours or so out of my two swappable batteries, with the ability to add more batteries/time if I choose. On the newer models, once that battery is out, you are out of luck until you find an outlet to plug into. I travel enough overseas, and take my MPB on enough extended outdoor trips (where the nearest power source is 20 miles away) that this is a big issue for me.
And yes, other users are correct that the percentage setting will give you a better estimate of remaining usage than the time setting. I sometimes switch to time setting near the end of battery life to see about how long I can go before I have to think seriously about saving (even though there is a warning, I don't want to start any functions that may require more time than I've got left).

Since Apple doesn't repair iPhones (they replace them) you will have to take it back to whoever "fixed" it. Since it's been opened by an unauthorized 3rd party, it is no longer eligible for replacement by Apple.

That is because you don't have a web server configured and running to serve the html page. In order to see the page in a browser you need to access it using a url similar to http://localhost/~yourUserName if you are serving the page from your user account.
Prior to Mountain Lion you could go into web sharing and turn on the web server. With Mountain Lion there is no option, other than using terminal, to turn on the web server. The web sharing menu item has been removed in Mountain Lion. Apache is still on your computer but it will take a little searching these forums or the Internet to find how to turn it on.
If you want a graphic user interface to turn on/off the Apache server you could download and install a server application like xampp, http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html. I use this and it works well.

Total Baseline Hours For A Resource Does Not Equal the Sum of the Weekly Baseline Hours for that Resource

I am using Project Server 2010. I have a project schedule that has been baselined and no actual work has been charged to it. The project has 3 resources. I am in the Resource Usage View. With 2 of the three resources, the hours in the Baseline Work Column
on the left side of the view do not equal the sum total of weekly hours in the Timephased Grid. For instance, for resource JB the Baseline Work hours column says 1,392. When I total his weekly hours in the timephased grid I get 1368 hours; a variance
of 24. Resource RS has 794.5 hours in the Baseline Work column but the sum total of his weekly timephased grid hours is 710.5, a variance of 84 hours. In both cases, the sum of the hours in the timephased grid is less than the hours in the Baseline Work column.
What would be causing this? (I am cutting and pasting the weekly hours in the timephased grid into Excel and using the Excel sum function total). Is there a better timephased view I should be looking at to try to find the "missing
hours"? I have seen this before in project and it really has me stumped. Thanks.

I could not reproduce your issue. Is your Project Server patched with the latest SP and CU?
Also can you reproduce this unexpected behavior with another project?
Can you split your screen from the resource usage view, display the resource form and click right on the grey part selecting "schedule"? Then you'll have the scheduled start and finish dates for the resource's assignments. This is to be sure that
you are not missing any parts of the assignments due to a wrong zoom in the timephased grid.

That said, I dare say the clipId parameter effectively tells the server and/or player what content to display. If you had a packet sniffer installed you could probably find a URL for the content you are trying to (illegally?) download

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

When I click a link on a web page it will take me to an advertising page not the page it should take me to. This is only happening with firefox not the other browsers I use. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and this did not solve the problem.

Additional info on this:
I strongly suspect this is time machine-related. Even though time machine has been turned off, this happens at intervals of exactly one hour.
A single entry appears in the kernel log at the precise moment the (first) popup error box appears. This is:
"AppleSRP started."
Anyone have any clue how to go about diagnosing or fixing this? I don't even mind trying something brute force (short of wiping the HD and reinstalling lion, which I really DON'T want to do; I don't mind a non-destructive reinstall).

My texts say they are sent to an android phone, but the android does not receive them for hours, or even at all.

So, recently my texts are not being received by an android phone. It says they are sent on my phone, but the android phone does not get them for hours or even at all. When they do come through, they come in random order. It is really aggravating and I do not know how to fix it at all. I have reset my phone multiple, updated it, I have tried everything. Contact your carrier. There are no settings on the iPhone regarding SMS. SMS is a carrier function. Have the carrier check to make sure that your account is provisioned correctly.

However the trick is that it cannot download at all.I m asked to download the application. Then I put my Apple ID, then it start to download but just 1s... Then ....Nothing. No application, no error message... Just a nice invoice....
