In Mac OS X v10.6.8 and earlier, wake the computer up by clicking the mouse button or by pressing a key on your external keyboard."
I'm running OS X Lion (10.7.4) but it does not function as described above. Instead, the MBP display stays on. The only way I can get it to turn off while I'm using the external display is to shutdown and restart the MBP (with lid closed). I use my computer at home and at the office so this daily shutdown and restart is getting old. Is there any way that I can force the MBP display to shutdown (ONLY when an external monitor is connected)? Or, can I just go back to the OS X 10.6 mode without going back to 10.6? Thanks!

Using Oracle Data Developer 4, I cannot get the example on https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E57998_01/doc.41/e57984/tut_data_modeling.htm#DMDUG36173 to work as described. The Foreign Key fields in the logical model are not generated. They are only generated in the relational model when I develop the logical model. However, the names follow the template {table}_{table}_ID, which will cause problems for long table names. Now I have two questions:
1. How can get the foreign key fields to be generated in the logical model, as descibed in the tutorial?
2. Where can I see the default naming rules for generated fields used by the program and where can I change them? - I found a description how this works in Version 3, but these options do not exist anymore in Version 4.

In version 4 the template definitions are defined in the properties for the Design.
Right-click on the Browser entry for your Design and select Properties.
In the tree in the left panel of the Design Properties dialog, expand Settings, then expand Naming Standard and select Templates to display the Template definitions.

Why is Podcast specification is not working as described, in iTunes?

I have created a podcast as per the latest podcast specifications mentioned in
http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html
But not everything works, as expected.
1) The "Artist" column is displaying "Unknown" even though, the <itunes:author> tag has a value in it.
2) Keyword search is not working. When I perform a search based on the keywords mentioned in the <itunes:keywords> tag, my podcast is not showing up in the search results. Does iTunes search engine take a few days to index these keywords with the podcast?
3) The image is not showing up, even though I have specified an image in the <itunes:image> tag. And the spec says that it takes a few days before the image appears. Approximately how long does it take for the image to appear in iTunes, after a Podcast is submitted on it?
In general does it take iTunes some time before it shows certain content for a podcast? Because, all of these things work in other podcatchers (for e.g Yahoo podcatcher), but they dont work as expected in iTunes.

Make sure to set images on a per podcast basis as
well (tunes -. Get Info - Artwork and fill in other
areas) Save file and the nupload.
iTunes search and update is affected by the phase of
the moon so no one really knows. Key words need to
have commas but even then it doesn't seem to work
most of the time.
I still need to know why certain columns are not being populated correctly, for example the Artist appears as unknown even though I have supplied a value in <itunes:author> tag. And there are many other issues.

Why does Android Reader smart zoom not work as described on Google Nexus 7 2013 tablet?

The smart zoom feature in Android Acrobat Reader allows you to double tap on a text column and the reader will zoom up to the column in improve readability. This feature works great on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smart phone, but only appears to zoom half way on the Google Nexus 7 2013 tablet.
Is this a bug?

Message Packaging in PI not working as described?

Yesterday I made some tests with the new feature message packaging. I noticed some strange and very impractical behaviour. Generally it says that PI takes packages of n messages when available and sends any message at least in time t. First restriction: This is per queue, i.e., when n messages arrive in one queue, a package is built. I reduced queues to one and sent test messages, setting n = 3 and t = 10. No matter how many messages I sent, the system always waited the 10 seconds and then started processing, even though I sent 3 messages. If I send 7 messages, the system waits for 10 seconds, then grabs 6 messages in 2 packages and then waits again for 10 seconds till the last message is proceeded.
Then I configured 2 scenarios A and B. I set n = 3 for both, but for A t = 10 and for B t = 30. If I send now messages BBAAAB, the system waits 30 seconds and then processes all messages (in 2 packages), although t = 10 for scenario A. If I send ABBBAA, the system waits for 10 seconds, then processes all As, then waits again for 20 or 30 seconds till processing the Bs.
Has anybody made similar experiences? Did I forget something somewhere?

I followed the steps there, and the problem does not seem to be due to some configuration made there. Any comments like "will be fixed in SP6" or "set parameter X to Y and it works" are really welcome.

P.D.: I am really quite annoyed that entries in smpprel3 seem to be made only for scenarios with a mapping and that the message packaging retrieves interface data from there. Most of our scenarios don't use mappings, and creating entries for these scenarios manually is really not a nice task.

FF4 does not work as described. How can I revert to FF3.6?????

I posted a question of the forum, received a reply, tried to fix ff4 as was detailed in the reply, to no avail. Nothing suggested worked. So, rather than deal with a bad update, I want to revert to FF3.6 that worked fine. In my control panel it only shows FF4. If I uninstall it, will I be reverting to FF3.6? and if not what can I do to get back to FF3.6?
Secondly, the user name and password I used when I registered several days ago, was not recognized today. So I created a new registration in my wife's name. This has enabled me to post this. Talk about frustration!!!

9 slice scaling - not working as described

In order to create a 9 slice scaled object, I have tried
Flash help and various tutorials on the web and none of them
produce the result they say they will. All of the instructions say
basically this:
Create a movie clip symbol
Enable 9 slice scaling in its properties
Open the symbol in symbol editing mode
Move the guides where you want them to define the
non-scaleable regions
Place an instance of the symbol on the stage
At this point, I am supposed to be able to scale the object
with the guides taking effect. I have NOT once been able to do
this, the whole thing always scales and distorts the corners in the
way the guides are supposed to prevent! One tutorial told me that I
had to preview the movie and then I could see the result, but that
was not true either. Is there a step missing? Flash is constantly
one of the apps where I find tutorials and help often don't produce
the advertised result.

Don't know what to tell you. I've never done 9-slice and I
just looked it up in the help files and it worked both on the stage
and on publish.
Do you have Control -> Enable Live Preview checked?
That is what is needed to see it on stage.
Are you trying to scale imported bitmap images? They won't
9-scale.
Does your clip have nested clips inside it? They won't
9-scale.
Can't think of anything else.
Oddly enough I almost always find the help produces exactly
the advertised results.

You have, as far as I can tell, found a bug in Sun's compiler.
Java language Specification 3rd edition, p#9.6.1.6, says:

A Java compiler must produce a warning when a deprecated type, method, field, or constructor is used (overridden, invoked, or referenced by name) unless:

Batch Procedure Not Working For Image Resizing in Fireworks 8

Scaling graphics with a batch process. You can alter the
height and width of images being exported using the Scale option in
the Batch Process dialog box. To set scaling options for
batch-processed files:
Select Scale from the Batch Options list and click Add. In
the Scale pop-up menu, select an option:
Scale to Fit Area makes images fit proportionally with the
maximum width and height range you specify.
If you have chosen either Scale to Size or Scale to Fit Area

those documents that are currently larger than the target
size. To do so, select the Only Scale Documents Currently Larger

Just FYI, we did not have the box checked to only apply to

honestly, I think the FW team missed it in the last upgrade.
And you're talking about more than just scaling - you are
most likely
including an export command as well, this was not indicated
in your
original post. Keep in mind your scaling occurs BEFORE any
saving of the
file at any new optimization setting. Maintaining a low
compression
would help, yes, but I'm not referring to quality loss
through
compression, I'm referring to quality loss through data
extrapolation
(interpolation?). When you resample an image to a large pixel
count, you
are asking the software to use an algorithm to create pixel
data that
did not exist in the original file. Whether it's Photoshop or
Fireworks,
quality loss will happen in a bitmap file. In short, you're
asking the
software to make an educated guess about the data in these
new pixels.
As for your end results - you did not indicate the original
size of your
files (pixel dimensions), nor how much you are upsampling. If
your
files are not being upsampled too greatly, and/or there is a
great deal
of pixel data to begin with and/or the final upsized images
are not
really large then it's possible that you do not notice any
significant
loss in quality.
My assumption was you were working with small files in terms
of
resolution. Generally, though, web images are not large to
begin with
and do not have a huge pixel count, so resizing them upwards
would
usually be noticeable.
All I am pointing out is that the file would not have the
same quality
as the original, even if the option was working. Whether that
difference
in quality is noticeable . . .
For example, I took an image that was 72 x 54 pixels, resized
it 200 %
to 144x108 pixels. Bigger image, but quality is low and
noticeable.
I do the same thing with a file that is 1024 x 768 and I can
still see
some loss, but it doesn't look quite as bad. IT is however,
noticeably
more blurry than the original.
And now how about a possible FW solution? ;-)
Open ONE file in FW
Set your jpeg quality to 100 (Type the value, do NOT use the
slider)
Go to Modify > Transform > Numeric Transform
Set your new image size to the desired dimensions
Click OK
Go to Modify > Canvas > Fit Canvas
Find those three steps in the History panel and save it as a
custom
command.
You will now be able to access this step in the Batch Process
Wizard, in
the Commands menu. or in the Commands menu in FW.
Add your other batch steps. You do not need the export option
because we
set that up in the custom command, but you might want to use
the Rename
operation.
Click Next
Choose an export directory if you wish
Save the script to create a complete custom command that
handles both
sizing and exporting and file renaming and a custom location
for saving
the file.
This one script can then be used either from the Batch
Process Wizard OR
from the Commands Menu in FW.
One note, if you choose a custom location for the files to be
saved,
that directory gets written into the command, so whenever the
batch is
run - that is where the new files will go.
As for other programs, Photoshop comes to mind. I'm sure
there are
other, specialized batch processing programs out there which
could do
exactly what you want.

LDAP compare not working as documented in SDK

I'm developing a Java application against Novell eDirectory 8.8 SP6 with
LDAP and seeing some differences between the Novell LDAP SDK
Documentation and the actual LDAP implementation inside eDirectory for
LDAP. The problem is that compare(java.lang.String dn, LDAPAttribute
attr) method of com.novell.ldap.LDAPConnection is not working as
described. I've noticed two strange issues:
1) LDAP COMPARE THROWS AN ERROR WHEN IT SHOULD NOT
According to the documentation ( the value FALSE should be returned when
the entry does not have the value or the attribute. However, eDirectory
return a -603 LDAP error when yo do a compare on an entry which does not
have the attribute (it does exist in the schema though).
In example:
Compare on User John Doe without any value for myauxattr:

Moreover, if you don't have the Compare Rights to that attribute,
eDirectory always returns FALSE on a LDAP compare, which I beleive is
not correct. A return value of FALSE implicitly states that the compare
could be done, but no match is found. However, insufficient rights
prevent the compare, so eDirectory should throw an error. Something like
LDAP: error code 50 INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_RIGHTS.
In example:
Compare on User John Doe without any value for myauxattr and no compare
rights:
ldapcompare -x -H ldap://ldapserver.test.com -D cn=limiteduser,o=org -w

Thanks Ab for pointing that out. That explains the error when doing a
compare on an entry without that attirbute. However, if no compare
rights are given, LDAP compare shoudl throw an error as well. This part
seems like a bug to me. My conclusion is that the documentation of JLDAP
is incorrect and we have a bug upon insufficient rights. Interesting is
that also the code Examples for LDAP compare in the SDK are invalid as
well: no check is done if the attribute exists on the entry before
calling LDAP compare.

I'm trying to implement CONTEXT_SENSITIVE RLS policies:

Server re-evaluates the policy function at statement execution time if it detects context changes since the last use of the cursor. For session pooling where multiple clients share a database session, the middle tier must reset context during client switches. Note that the server does not cache the value returned by the function for this policy type; it always executes the policy function on statement parsing. Applies to only one object.
What I have discovered so far:
1. policy function executed each time when query executed from SQL*Plus. Independently of context changes.
2. policy function executed only once when query executed from PL/SQL.
3. When we have a PL/SQL procedure like this:
begin
<query>
<change context>
<query>
end;
Additionally, query (cursor) is not present in PL/SQL cursor cache, then
policy functions executed only once when first query executed.
So wrong results are possible when application context changed in a way that policy function returned predicate also changed.
4. JDBC: policy function executed each time when query is executed. Policy function executed only once when I enabled statement caching:

Signature of DBMS_RLS.ADD_POLICY procedure was changed in 12c with additional arguments: NAMESPACE, ATTRIBUTE.
I tried to use them with no luck, results are the same.
In my opinion statements below are contradict to each other:
1. Server re-evaluates the policy function at statement execution time if it detects context changes since the last use of the cursor.
2. it always executes the policy function on statement parsing.
First, documentation says that the policy function evaluates at statement execution time.
Second, documentation says that the policy function executes on statement parsing.
I have used Oracle Database 12.1.0.2 for testing.
I provided a script that I have used in my tests:
rls_policy.txt - creates test schema and policy
rls_sqlplus.txt - runs simple select against query with RLS policy
rls_plsql.txt - more complex example, runs some anonymous blocks with queries against table with RLS policy.
In my opinion, context_sensitive policies does not works as described in the documentation.
Is it a bug or I'm missing something?

Spotlight Search in Mail does not work.

I use Spotlight in Mail every day... all day. About an hour ago it just decided to stop working. Contacts, subjects, nothing returns any search results.
I have restarted, done all system updates, and repaired disk permissions. Still nothing.
Any ideas?
Using Mail on Mountain Lion.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
syslog -k Sender mdworker -o -k Sender mds | grep -v 'boxd\|Norm' | tail | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
If any personal information appears in the output, anonymize before posting, but don’t remove the context.
