Note on compatibility

Hello,
We hope you are able to successfully install and use these new Add-ons for Workbench
The Archive file is intended for Workbench ES2 (version 9.0.0 GM). Some folks have reported problems applying the Add-ons to a Workbench environment that is already updated with earlier distributions of these Add-ons, or when using a preview release of Workbench ES2.5. In both instances you may see an error "no new features found" when you apply the Archive file. Currently the Add-ons are targeted at LiveCycle Workbench ES2 only, not on top of any other Workbench preview distributions you might have obtained since we released ES2.
A few people have also reported problems after applying the Add-ons to an ES2Service Pack 1 (version 9.0.0.1) version of Workbench. This is indeed supported for the Add-ons. But there is a known bug on Windows 7 and Windows 2003 Server where some Views do not display properly. You will need to launch Workbench as the Windows "Administrator" user (right click in the Start Menu -> select Run As.. Administrator). This was caused by a recent move in Service Pack 1 to use JDK 1.6. We are working on a fix for that.
So in summary, if you are just using Workbench ES2 GM you should be fine. If you are using Workbench ES2 Service Pack 1 on Windows 7 or Windows Server, you may need to launch as Administrator while we work out a bug.

This reads backwards, It is the other way as "Norton update is compatible with Firefox 9".

  • Adobe Acrobat -Create PDF 1.0 does not work in FireFox 4.How do i directly convert pages to PDF??Why is that your products are not backward compatable.U people are in the IT industry and should know this.Shame on You people.learn somthing form the IE team

While Updating to Fire Fox 4. It said Adobe Acrobat -Create PDF 1.0 is not supported. How come 3.6 supports but not 4. I believe you people have never heard of the term "Backward Compatibility" .U people will loose your customer/support base if every new version doesn't support some existing stuff.

    '''Problem Solved FINALLY !'''
    Solution:
I just updated my '''Adobe Acrobat X Pro''' to '''Version 10.1.0'''.By the way, I have to complain, Adobe is really slow in solving this problem...
Here is the official link for the Adobe Acrobat update.[http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5135 <click me!>http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5135<click me!>]
After update, the extention changed from "Adobe Acrobat -Create PDF 1.0" into "Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.1". And the '''"Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.1" is compatiable with the firefox 4.0.1'''. A screenshot is attached as a proof.

  • Compatibility Mode Error when NOT in compatibility mode

I have a Dell Studio XPS 16 running Windows 7 Ultimate (RTM, not RC). iTunes installs fine but I get this error when I open it:
"iTunes.exe has been set to run in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. For best results, turn off compatibility mode for iTUnes before you open it."
Once you click OK, the program runs fine. But this still bothers me. Thoughts? Under the application's properties, compatibility mode is NOT selected.

I'm getting the same thing, if you find a solution let me know!

  • Group Policy not populating Compatibility View List in IE 11

I am currently a domain admin in a large, multi domain controller environment. Our AD was much out of date (2000 mix mode) and we are currently updating it in steps (2003 Native at this point)
At the same time other technicians have started patch testing, moving us from IE10 to IE11. However, there seems to be one major catch so far. Users require access to a website that will only run properly in compatibility mode.  This was true in IE10 and
    is true in IE11.
As such, this website was set as a mandatory compatibility mode page in GPO (Administrative Tempaltes\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Compatibility View\Use Policy List of Internet Explorer 7 sites). This has worked fine for 8, 9, 10 for this site and
    others.
However, it was not showing in compatibility mode in IE 11 it is showing in normal mode and breaks. The policy is applying normally and the list is accurate in rsop.msc. If the site is added to compatibility mode locally inside IE11 it works fine.
Our patch testers are all seeing the same problem. However, I have been unable to establish if it is just this site or others are affected (mostly it's old billing and intranet sites I don't have access to).
I'm not sure what the disconnect is.

    Hi,
There are also more modes. The detailed information is below:
•Via X-UA-compatible meta tag: The webpage developer used a meta tag to specify a legacy document mode.
•compatible HTTP header: The web server has requested a legacy document mode via an HTTP header.
•Via local compatibility view settings: The site was manually added to the Compatibility View settings.
•Via the compatibility view list: The site is on Microsoft's Compatibility View list.
•Via intranet compatibility settings: The "Display intranet sites in Compatibility View" box is checked in the Compatibility View settings.
please remove all website from "Use Policy List of Internet Explorer 7 sites" list.
Remember to run "gpupdate /force" command to apply the new group policy object.
Then open the websites, click F12 key, check their Document mode status.
Based on my test, this is also related with web itself. it will adjust status according to its design.

  • 5.0 not backwards compatable???

I just compiled some 1.4.2 code in 1.5, and I got a compiler error. It's not a huge deal, and easily fixable, but I just found it odd that it wasn't backwards compatable. It's suppsoed to be, isn't it?
    It's code that implements Comparable
    public int compareTo(Object o) {
      return toString().compareTo(o);
}compareTo(java.lang.String) in java.lang.String cannot be applied to (java.lang.Object) at line 92, column 25
Just incase this was already fixed, I tried compiling this in the latest 1.6.0_01 and I get the same error. The code looked like it was meant to compare the string versions of the objects if the objects were not of the right type. I suppose this case is no longer even valid using generics in Comparable, but like I said, it should still compile if it worked in 1.4.2.

    I just compiled some 1.4.2 code in 1.5, and I got a
compiler error. It's not a huge deal, and easily
fixable, but I just found it odd that it wasn't
backwards compatable. It's suppsoed to be, isn't
it?No, it's not. Nobody ever said that all code that was compilable with javac 1.4 would be compilable with javac 1.5. Only binary compatibility was guaranteed. That means that you may compile the code you're showing with a 1.4 compiler or with the latest javac if you set the option "-source 1.4".
After compilation, the generated class file will then be usable by all Java programs, even those compiled with Java 5 or 6.
BTW, with or without generics, the code looks so highly suspicious that you should be very glad the compiler finally rejects it. To make any sense, it should look like this, which is fine with every Java version:
    public int compareTo(Object o) {
       return toString().compareTo(o.toString());

  • Mp3 players - mac compatability  ? (NOT itunes compatability )

    hi
    i want to buy a cheap mp3 player ...
btw i dont use itunes music store so i dont need any compatability
with itunes buttons and all that.
i want to use it for my audio book collection.
I'm a bit confused about the mp3 player- mac compatability debate.
Seems like when alot of people say mp3 players are bot compatable with macs - what they mean is not compatable with itunes music store downloads.
Am i correct in thinking that all mp3 players can be mounted as external drives and i could drag n drop folders of mp3s - and that this is a universal rule of thumb ?
If this is so, does it not mean that all mp3 players are effectivly compatable with macs ? If it doesnt , then why ?
Thanks for helping me work this out
    d

I think, as you said, it is that they have not written any software to specifically work with the Mac. Also, even if they think it should work with a Mac, in the case of a Mass Storage Device, if they haven't specifically tested their products on the Mac, they are not going to claim any compatibility to avoid angry customers if it turns out to not work as smooth as they assumed.
I use a flash drive, 512MB Sandisk model, and previous used a 128MB Lexar version. In both cases I never really had any trouble using these in Mac and Windows systems and in fact have used the same flash drive in Win 2000, Win ME, Win XP, Mac OS X, and Mac 9.2.2 systems and it works on all of them. It shows up as a removable drive and you can drag and drop to or from the flash drive just like any other drive on the system.
Because I want the flash drive to work on both Windows and Mac systems, I don't format with a Mac format but always use DOS format (as it is called under Mac OS). If formatting on a Windows system, be sure to use Fat32 format rather than NTFS. Mac OS X.3 can read NTFS format, but not write to it. I think Tiger might be able to write to it now, but Fat32 is pretty universal and will work on all the above mentioned operating systems.
My guess is that Sony will work just fine on your Mac.

  • ITunes will not launch if it is not in Compatibility mode.

I am running Windows 7 64bit and whenever I try and open iTunes regularly, it crashes and fails to launch.
However, when I put it in Compatibility mode (XP SP3), it works fine at the cost of the features of Aero
Are there any fixes for this?

I too, could kiss your feet! I had to scrub my work computer, and I can't work without muzak. It was driving me crazy!!!! You have saved me a large amount of sanity.
    Thanks! Have a great day!!

  • Not a compatibility issue... error 2096

I have an iphone 3gs, Ive searched this huge thing we all call the internet, and I have found no solution for my problem, my problem isn't with installing iTunes, but when I go to run iTunes, quick time fails to initialize error (-2096) everyone says it seems to be a compatibility issue. I have tried a lot to make this work, I'm running windows server 2003. I hioe this helps me, this is my last resort... I dont want to get rid of this thing because I cant activate it, If you know how to fix my problem, please it would be much appreciated if you could throw some advice my way

but when I go to run iTunes, quick time fails to initialize error (-2096) everyone says it seems to be a compatibility issue.
    It's certainly where I start with a 2096.
Are there *no boxes whatsoever* checked in either the iTunes.exe or QuickTimePlayer.exe compatibility tabs?

  • When the next iPad comes out, (the iPad 4), will the iPad 2 be discontinued and not be compatable with future iOS versions?

I will not be buying a new iPad just because it was just discontinued.

<Opinion>Look at the iPod Touch family as a guide, that's probably the best model to look to for how this will probably go down. Probably 2 or 3 generations back will be okay if a new generation comes out, so following that logic the iPad 1 would likely stop receiving major iOS updates. But hey, nobody but Apple knows. I would suggest not worrying about it and getting what you can afford, they all become obsolete eventually.</Opinion>

  • Samsung CLX-3175 printer (not wireless) compatability with

I have a Samsung CLX-3175 printer (not wireless)Am i right in understanding that if i connect an airport extreme to it, that it will become a wireless printer? any issues i should know about this before buying an air port? thanks all

You might want to check with Samsung support to verify if your model will work at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme.  If it does, then you will be able to print from your computer using the wireless connection.
There is a good chance that the printer will work because it does appear on Apple's list of compatible models:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP
Important Note......If your printer is an All-in-One type device, only the print function will work when the printer is connected to the AriPort Extreme.  Copy, Scan, Maintenance, etc will not be supported.  You will need to connect the All-in-One directly to your computer for those features to be available.
If you are asking about printing from an iPad, even if your printer is supported, you will likely not be able to print from the iPad unless you install an App like Print Central on the iPad.

  • HT201071 How can Apple NOT update compatibility for the Nikon D4S??

Man, this is such a let down.  I'm working with this camera every day and it's such a pain to have to either convert to DNG or shoot JPEG.  C'mon Apple...

You should let them know here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
I did that for my Canon and 2 months later, there was an update for RAW support.
FWIW, the D4 is on the list (and so is a D3s, so it should definitely help to submit feedback)

From another post (but has your phone been jail broken?) -
Delete your .ipsw file(s) and try updating again (this re-downloads iOS 5.1.1).  You will find the file(s) at one of the following locations:
Windows XP : Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
    Vista/
    Windows 7: Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
