I'm a high school student who need to create a portfolio of artwork before graduation. I'm
planning to become a photographer and filmmaker and I need a notebook for digital photography,
video production and games (Like GTA IV,The Sims 3 and Crysis). I want to know the top

My ex just purchased an MSI GT627-218US for $1299 - by all reviews and its specs and EXCELLENT notebook and amazing "bang for your buck".
I'm probably going to be purchasing one myself in the next few months.
One problem though:  Best Buy does NOT carry that laptop, or anything else made by MSI.  Probably 3/4 of BB's notebooks are HP.    (I have a very strong dislike for HP computers in terms of build quality.)

  • HP 2000 Notebook - No sound and some slow motion in video playback

I had plugged in headphones while watching a video on youtube.
The video on youtube suddenly got snow and stopped playing and the sound in the computer  stopped working as well. The sound icon has a red X.
The system is not detecting any problem.
I am not computer savvy so need simple steps please.
I checked the speakers, tried to update the software but no software update needed.
    I have tried rebooting.
My last option is to do the recovery which I do not want to do.
    PLEASE HELP!
Also the DVD player sometimes do a slow motion play while doing T25; it wasn't doing this before. I thought it was maybe how it was but its not.

  • Why when I play a video on my HP G2-34OUs Notebook the sound does not go with the video?

When I play a video from a CD, the sound does not go with the pictures/film.  Sometimes the video just stops and will not move forward.  This happens on a number of players that I have enstalled.

    Hi henryjd,
Sorry to hear about the videos issues, I know that can be frustrating. I will be happy to help. It sounds like you are having an issue with either your video and/or audio drivers. What version of operating system are you running?

  • No video on dv4-2165dx but video displays on external monitor

I have a dv4-2165dx that has suddenly stopped showing video on the screen. I can see video on an external screen via VGA or HDMI output.  When I turn the computer on, the screen stays blank for a few seconds but as the computer boots up, the screen truns a little lighter than the black color it shows when it is off. It seems that something is going on on the LCD since it turns some type of different color but (i.e. some type of energy has been put through the lcd) but I cannt see anything or use it at all. I have read several places where you can do hard restes, remove the battery, change the angle of the screen, etc - I have done all tips that I can find online and nothign works. I am at the point where I plan to try to replace the cable, adn possibly the inverter since the issue does not seem to be the video card given that it works on the external monitor. I have alos heard that there is a list of defective laptop models where HP would rfix the issue for free. Every link leading back to this list does not work anymore. ANy help would be much appreciated.

I grasp that your display is no longer functioning,  When you power on your notebook the screens goes blank for a few seconds and when booting  turns a little lighter and then goes to a black color the same as when it is powered off.  Your secondary monitor is still displaying your screens.  You have tried a hard reset but no change.
Here is a link to Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot
Should you require a replacement display and are interested in doing the repair yourself, here is a link to HP Pavilion dv4 Entertainment PC. Please note page 26 or chapter 3 page 3 for a list or replacement displays.
    I hope this helps!

  • Need VGA connector connect notebook and PS3

    Hi,
Anybody can tell me what kind of VGA Connector should I buy (show me the web site pls), which for my Toshiba Satellite to make connection with my Playstation 3. Then I can use my Laptop to play the game and need not to use my TV set.
    Thanks

    Hello
I also think something like this will not be possible. you must understand that your notebook and graphic card are designed to send video/audio signal to external device and there is no port for video in.
All I can imagine is to check for some external product like external video card that can send video signal over USB port or something similar.
Try to speak with your local dealer in nearest electro store.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook - Blank video screen

I was running the Skype Windows desktop client on an HP pavillion dv6 notebook. About a week ago the main video screen (the other caller) went black. It has been that way ever since. The people at the other end are having no problems and can be seen on other machines.
    Skype software version is 6.22.81.104
    I attach a dxdiags dump
    Thanks

With it connecting to an external monitor and working just fine, it would indicate an issue with either the lcd or the video cable. Usually, a completely black screen is the lcd panel itself. But you said you had it replaced...
Go ahead and boot up with the external monitor. Once you are booted up, press Win+P. That should bring up the shortcut for your projector screens. Select Laptop only. Could be a setting just didn't get back to normal.
If that doesn't work, I would take it back to whoever replaced it. Did they test it before giving it back to you? Did it work at all after having the screen replaced? I do this kind of work all the time and would lay 10 to 1 odds still that it is the lcd panel. If it hasn't worked at all, I would have them double check to make sure everything plugged back in correctly, done that a time or two... If they are positive the screen is good, change out the cable. In my experience, one of those has to be the issue.

  • New to the HP Pavilion Dv9000 (Dv9310ca) Help?

Normally I use a mac but today after fixing my aunts Dell Desktop PC (Bad RAM) She gave me her old HP Pavilion Dv9000 with the HP xb3000 Notebook Expansion Base. The laptop displays no video and the hard drive makes a repetitive clicking noise.
I removed the 120GB hard drive with Vista Home Premium 64-bit  and replaced it with a blank 320GB hard drive. As for the RAM, it had 1GB (2x512MB) which I removed and replaced with 4GB (2x2GB) but I needed to play a little game of mix and match to get it working as these only support 2GB acording to HP. After swapping around a different aray of 2GB sticks in each slot I finally got it working with two sticks in totaling at 4GB of RAM.
Now I have it running with a fresh copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed but it's having major heat issues I believe, I'm not really comfortable with these raging fan sounds, as a Mac user I rarely ever hear the fan unless it's under extreme conditions. Should the fan in this Dv9 be running at what sounds like 75% useage all the time?!
The laptop is also getting super hot and I've only had it on for about an hour (Installed Windows 7, Set it up, Downloaded and installed AVG free, now I'm here.) This is also the 1.6GHz model so it should be running super cool compaired to the 2GHz model with the HD-DVD player.
I've also installed CPU-Z to check on the CPU Temp and I noticed it's only reading around 800MHz from what should be 1,600MHz no? (1.6GHz CPU)
Another question is that why replacing the broken 120GB hard drive I noticed the second hard drive expansion which I thought was pure genius! I've never seen anything like this before and I wanna know if there is any way to put it into RAID with the first bay hard drive.. Perhaps I'll keep this beast and put in two 1TB hard drives for it, make a 2TB RAID Media Center as this also came with the media center remote that plugs in the side of the laptop too and with the xb3000 it'll look all the better beside my TV.
    Thanks for your time
    -Ben

So this "heat problem" was in fact a problem. I ended up getting the ever favorite blank screen of death!
After a bunch of searching, I found some great Disassembly videos of the HP DV9 on YouTube. I performed my own Mother board reflow for the Nvidia GPU, as well as the penny mod, and I upgraded to some really high end silver thermal paste with Diamond dust in it.
The reflow process was to reseat the GPU, the "Penny Mod" is to place a copper penny in between the GPU and the Cooling pad before the heat sink to create more downward pressure on the GPU it self which will hold it on the motherboard much better, and finally the Thermal Paste upgrade is simply to reduces the chip temperature as it makes removing heat from the chip far faster and more effective.
I also cleaned out the fan which was probably the cause of the GPU to fail.
All together, it took me about 2 hours from gathering all the tools I'll need to turning the laptop on and admiring my work.
I hope more people see this thread and do the same, it was extremely easy to do, it just took forever to find all the information I needed to do it.
    EDIT:
I was also reading that HP doesn't support Windows 7 on the DV9 so that is a good probability to why I have no Wifi anymore. Windows Update probably installed some generic Wifi driver which wasn't fully compatible. The best solution I've found for this is to install the OEM Vista Home Premium 64-bit, then use my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit to upgrade it. This way it'll keep most of the Windows Vista drivers that are still supported in Windows 7.

  • How to connect Satellite C670D-11K to my LCD TV?

    Afternoon,
Slowing losing whats left of my hair trying to get my laptop hooked up to my LCD TV. :(
I've purchased a VGA to HDMI lead plugged it into my tv and my lappy and nothing, my brother on the other hand plugs his laptop in via he built in hdmi port he has and the picture appears straight away.
Any ideas/solutions would be much appreciated...

VGA to HDMI adapter would not work because you cannot send a video signal from the analogue port to a digital port (but from digital to analogue).
For such purpose you will need an expensive and special converter.
Therefore I would recommend using another solution. For example connection the notebook to TV using an VGA to s-video cable or VGA to scart

  • What's the difference between Mini DisplayPort and Mini DVI?

I've got a two month old unibody MBP. I want to connect it to my TV with an HDMI cable and therefore I need an adapter cable.
I've searched online and found Mini DVI to HMDI cables and they have the same symbol on them as the port on my mac, but the specs for my mac call the port a Mini DisplayPort.
Is Mini DVI and Mini DisplayPort the same thing?

The icon that appears beside the port indicates "video out", not any particular kind of port that can be used for that purpose. Apple has used at least six different ports to provide video out on notebook Macs in the last several years: S-Video, VGA, mini-VGA, DVI (and dual-link DVI), mini-DVI, and mini-Displayport. I believe the same icon appears beside all of them, but the ports and plugs don't look alike.

  • Sat M40-236 Blue Screen of Death

Just a few days ago i've bought Toshiba Satellite M40-236. I disliked the pre-installed Windows XP Home Edition and installed Windows XP Pro with SP2 integrated. Afterwards i installed all the drivers provided and advised by Toshiba from: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU&teddProduct=5 38&cmsFamily=Satellite&cmsSerie=Satellite+M40+Seri es&cmsCategory=Notebooks&mode=allMachines&action=s earch
Updated Bios, Video drivers and so on. Everything worked fine, installed all the updates from Microsoft update site and then tried to install Windows Media Player from microsoft site. Then, when tried to open music file in media player the Windows shutted down with the blue screen of Death. After restart the blue screen remained. Tried to load to Safe Mode, Last good known configuration ... no result ... the blue screen remains.
Tried to reinstall Win XP HE from Recovery DVD-Rom, the same result ... after files are copied to HDD and the system is rebooted, Win XP Logo with running progress bar and suddenly Blue Screen of Death :(((
Tried to reinstall different verions of Windows (2000,XP Home, Xp Pro, 98SE) - no result, after it says Starting Microsoft Windows (during installation) the blue screen of death and nothing more .... STOP: 0x0000007E or STOP: 0x0000007F.
May be someone has the same? May be any solution of this problem? I think due to the Notebook is new one ... maybe there is smth with RAM ?

    Hello Kresh
Well, its very difficult to say what is wrong.
I dont think that the BIOS is wrong because a wrong
BIOS update procedure has damage the motherboard and it would be not possible to run or start anything.
Sorry I dont have a proper answer.
In my opinion you should contact the Toshiba service partner because I dont think that you will solve this issue by yourself.
Ps: You cant downgrade the BIOS.
Only the ASP has a possibility to do this.
