Notebook layout view in pages

hey everyone. is it possible in pages to have something on the order of the word:mac notebook layout funtionality?

Brett
When you open a new pages doc, you do so by opening a template.
You therefore need to File>Save as Template... and create new documents from that new template you create as a result.
You can change any other document characteristics too so build an empty class note taking template exactly how you would like it when you opened it and off you go.
I'd recommend that you read the pdf user guide that is accessible from the home screen on Pages Help there is a whole section on creating your own templates with lots of useful tips.

    No.  Create a playlist that you then sync to your iPod, and choose whatever view you wish of the playlist within iTunes.

  • Why won't my Macbook Pro save documents in Notebook Layout View?

    Whenever I try to save a document in Print Layout View, it works fine. But when I try to save a document in Notebook Layout View, it says that it is saved but it actually doesn't save it and I lose all my work. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?

    So it looks like my FireWire port on my 2007 macbook doesn't work :-/ I hooked both macs to my External, and the external wouldn't show up on the 2007 threw fireWire, but it did using USB....
    Is this a normal thing? do Firewire ports just give out over time, or could it be a software thing.... should I upgrade the 2007 to Lion? Will Lion even run smooth on the 2007? I'm kinda bummed about the port not working, but I ended up putting the large files on the Ex-HDD then transfering them to the 2007 via USB... wasn't the fastest, but it worked.....

  • Word notebook layout view, reader for pc?

    Hi all,
    Stumbling upon it by accident, I really came to love the notebook layout view in word (2004). I used it yesterday to take structured (! that's a first...) notes on each step of an extensive data analysis and this document will be a great help when further processing these data. The feature that's most important to me is the possibility to collapse lines. This way I can note in 'level 2' that I performed one test or another and put details, graphs and interpretation notes on level 3 and 4 and then collapse the whole bunch so that it only reads the test done and can be 'decollapsed' (?) again for more detailed info. With all sections collapsed I just have a list of all tests performed and this gives SO MUCH overview! (sorry for this detailed description... I am just enthusiastic and I'd like to illustrate my problem )
    The thing is: I want to show my work to my supervisor who doesn't have a mac and therefore... no notebook view available O.o And without notebook layout... it looks... totally chaotic!
    I have been googling around and I am aware that there officially is no possibility to preserve mac word's notebook view for pc... but I so hope that there is some kind of workaround somewhere... like a reader type program (to be run from my portable HD for instance) or anything.
    Love to hear any ideas on this!
    Best,
    liw

    Thank you, both of you.
    The reason I didn't went to microsoft forums is that I've understood that microsoft has no intention to create this compatibility between mac and pc. For pc there is onenote (a standalone program with this functionality that creates files with extension .one) which won't be released for mac and for mac there is this notebook view (for .doc files) that won't be implemented for pc.
    My hope was/is that someone macledgeable created some kind of reader or workaround and could let me/us know so...

  • All Content Not Viewing In Layout View

    I just installed InCopy CS3 on a user's recent IBM ThinkPad and for some reason when viewing a document in layout view SOME pages are not displaying content. All text content displays fine in galley and story view? This is a fresh install. Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Danny

    The strange thing is everything views fine on my 3 year old Dell. I have seen this issue on a virgin InCopy CS3 install on an old Dell desktop. Just attributed the issue to the age and lack of RAM on that workstation. The files were created on a Mac in InDesign CS3.

  • Microsoft Word - Notebook layout has taken over.

    Every time I open a word document it automatically opens in Notebook Layout view. I have changed the original settings and all the the settings of the files to the way I want before saving, but upon re-opening they immediately go back to Notebook Layout. How can I change these settings so that they will stay?
    I'm using microsoft office 2008 with all current updates.

    To the best of my knowledge there is no way to do this once a document is in Notebook view, Matthew. It is a longstanding bugbear with Word that people have complained about for years.
    The only "solution" I've ever been able to find to copy and paste the content of the "Notebook" document into a completely new, "normal" blank document. The internal structure of a "Notebook" view document is apparently modified, and can't be simply converted back for some reason.
    Might be worth heading over to the Microsoft Mac Office forums ( http://www.officeformac.com/ProductForums/Word/ ) and venting a bit of spleen. Many have done so beforehand!
    Cheers

  • "Web layout view" in latest Pages?

    I write for magazines and frequently have multiple text windows open at a time — the document on which I'm working plus two or three others containing text from interviews or research. In Word I've used "Web Layout" view as I can re-scale and re-size the boxes but still see all of the text (or as much as I like) at one time. Just upgraded my ancient laptop and I'm considering switching to Pages but I don't see anything like this. A quick search reveals that past versions of Pages didn't allow for writing in this fashion (multiple windows, all scalable with all text in view at once). Has the latest added it somewhere? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for replying, PeterBreis0807.  I am talking about multiple windows of different documents, however...
    As it currently stands in Pages (apparently) re-scaling a window doesn't affect the "page" within that window, so when I type the sentence, "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog," and then make the window narrower, I can only see "The quick brown fox."
    In Word's "Web Layout" the re-scaled window would simply push the remainder of the sentence down a line so that all text was still visible inside the narrower window.
    Maybe there's a way to accomplish this with Pages? Again, I've never used the program so please forgive me if there's a simple button or something that will keep all text in a window and "zoomable" no matter the window's size.
    Thanks

    Ok,
    very frustrated here. i made one template with a blank saved text box and am trying to make another (i think totally the same way) but am not allowed to lock the text box.
    it is in page layout view - i have downloaded the pages user guide - i followed that to get the first template correctly and saved it.

    could you share how you did it?

  • How do I get 'Layout Editor' to show my page in 'layout' view???

    I'm not sure what I did.....
    But I only have a blank page when I click the 'layout editor' tab. I use to see the layout of my page.
    It works in some pages and some pages are blank. I've tried to click everything to see if it makes
    a difference but nothing seems to help.
    If I click the triangles at the bottom left then I get a split screen screen with the top empty and the
    bottom has source code.
    Can anyone tell me:
    What I did to make this happen??
    How to undo it.
    Thanks!!!!

    um.  Compare the code of the unworking pages with the working.  It sounds as though you have a line of code missing at the top of the un-displaying pages.  ??
    Did you fix this in the last two months?!  I hope this helps.

  • Question: Viewing one page at a time

    How do I change from viewing a spread as two pages to just viewing one page at a time?

    If the doc is set up with spreads then turning spreads off may change the structure of a document. Or, at least, it did back in CS4 when I turned spreads off to look at a document in single-page layout because I was working on a laptop. When I turned spreads back on, lots of features (like anchored objects or text wraps set up to align to spine or "outside edge" for example) were broken.
    I never researched any further - I simply got in the habit of exporting PDFs and viewing those in single-page mode, instead of trying to affect layout in InDesign. Maybe this isn't broken anymore, or perhaps there's a non-destructive method of getting a single-page view. Or, more importantly, maybe the document you're looking at doesn't have any of these spread-dependent features. Or maybe you dont need it to keep the spreads features. Anyway, be aware that you might lose something if you untick that box.

  • In MVC, do i need a View or Page with flow logic for POPUP window

    Hi All,
    I have the below scenario using the MVC pattern.
    I have a main view with 3 trays, each tray has two buttons, for example first tray has Create Order button. When I click on this button, I need a popup window to come with a tableview and a button(Create), where I select some rows and click on the button Create  to create order.
    But as per the MVC pattern I canu2019t call the view (popup) from another view(main view).  So should I create a VIEW or PAGE WITH FLOW LOGIC for the popup? .
    I need 6 popup to be called from the main view and once the function is done close the popup.
    Please suggest me the flow for this scenario.
    Cheers,
    Srini.

    Srini,
    1. You can call the view in pop-up because you will be calling the controller using open.window.
    Here is the sample code:
    method DO_REQUEST .
      data:
            li_vw           type ref to   if_bsp_page,
            lv_form_field   type          string,
            li_md           type ref to   zcl_model01.
      dispatch_input( ).
      li_md ?= get_model( 'm01' ).
      lv_form_field = request->get_form_field( 'invoice_create' ).
      if lv_form_field is initial.
    *------ Request to display main page
        li_vw = create_view( view_name = 'main.htm' ).
        li_vw->set_attribute( name = 'model' value = li_md ).
        call_view( li_vw ).
      elseif lv_form_field eq 'true'.
    *------ Request to display Invoice page in pop-up
        li_vw = create_view( view_name = 'invoice.htm' ).
        li_vw->set_attribute( name = 'model' value = li_md ).
        call_view( li_vw ).
      endif.
    endmethod.
    Layout:
          function do_Invoice()
          { var s=0; r=1; w=300; h=300; x=screen.width/2;
            x=x-w/2;
            var y=screen.height/4;
            y=y-h/2;
            popUp=window.open('main.do?invoice_create=true','win','width='+ w
            +',height='+ h +', left=' + x +',top='+ y +');
    Option2:
    Ofcourse you can't bind the model in page becos those are 2 different things. But all you need to do is access the model to get some value. To know how to access the model from Page w/flow logic look at [this link|Passing model reference to a page in a Popup].

  • Export Layout view

    Hi
    I know its a wrong place to Post this question but i could not get the answer from Incopy forum
    How to print the layout view of a document. When it try to print or export a doument to PDF the story view is exported or printed. How to change it to Layout view.
    Does anyone have the InCopy reference Guide. I could not find it anywhere in the Adobe Site.
    Thanks

    Maybe you're not entirely clear in your terminology.
    Story view? Layout view? For an InDesgin user it makes sense if you mean the Story Editor with the first, and your regular page view window with the second. However, that does not compute with your problem, which is (if I understand it correctly) that you export or print the
    i first
    one; i.e., the Story View. That can't be done in the ID I have.
    Perhaps it's an option in InCopy, as that is all text oriented (as opposed to Plain-InDesign), and probably not meant to be used in the way you describe. I recall that InCopy is designed to edit texts, while the actual layout work has to be done in ID.

  • Is there a layout view in the New Numbers?

    Hi there,
    I loved the layout view.  I could work with my document, add and remove cells, resize the documents before I decided to print.  Now I can't do the rezing before I print, so I have to go to print to see how it is layed out on the page and if I don't like it, I can't add / delete / resize cells without backing out into the edit pane..
    This makes my editing more time consuming..
    Does anybody know if there is a way to replicate this funcionality in the new numbers??
    Thanks
    Chad

    Barry,
    The temporary solution you sent me will allow me to edit my existing files.  I received another file from an iPad today and that would not open it without version 3.0.  I am now behind 50 reports that cannot be billed because of formatting problems.  My records [reports] are reviewed by 3 national inspection agencies as well as state and local agencies. These agencies have the ability to shut the major corporations and municipal operations down based on my records.  My records can not be late incomplete or inaccurate..
         I must conclude that IMac and Ipad’s are no longer suitable for business use for myself or my sister companies. The IMac’s can still be used with office for mac but the Ipad’s must be used for pictures and music at home.  I will advise all sister companies that I will no longer accept data in pages or numbers and can no longer provide reports for their technicians in those programs.
         I am deeply disappointed that after almost 2 years development that proved to be a great savings in time due to iMac iPhone and iPad dependability the project must be scrapped because an update did not add features or correct problems. It removed features and added problems.  The reports sent to me from Ipad’s must be completely rebuilt before they can be used.  They were emailed which further degrades their usability.
             I will go this evening and purchase Windows products that are suitable for business.  I can not wait until Macintosh gets around to a fix [if they do] Because of the numerous hours spent converting these forms to mac and now back to Microsoft I am extremely offended at the lack of consideration for my time and support. Between reports I will take my break and get my frustrations out by writing bad reviews on every business forum I am a member of or simply can find.  You are costing me money time and frustration.
             My conclusion in every forum will be Macintosh systems are very dependable but cannot be trusted due to software changes that delete common features necessary to do business.  They are not concerned with your business or time.  They may or may not react but as a business consumer I have to get the job done not wait for them to realize their mistakes and get around to making the products they sell usable.

  • Unable to see layout design in page editor

    I am using JDeveloper version 11.1.2.0.0.
    I downloaded the hands-on practices from the site Tuhra2 – Sample application for the Oracle JDeveloper 11g Handbook.
    When I open the jspx files under Web Content, the visual design does not show up in the Design tab, instead I can only see the tags in text form.
    What can I do to see the visual layout of the page?

    I'm having same strange behavior.
    Before my JDeveloper 11g R2 Design Page work OK. Than I checkout application from SVN to another folder in FS (my JDev was closed meanwhile). I opened JDev and closed "old" app and open "new" (from that different folder) app and my Visual Design Page Editor does not work well (it is rendering well unusual with some kind of structure view).
    I have checkouted my app on another computer which has JDev installed in designer works ok. So obviously this is not app-based issue but JDev-vbased issue. What now?
    And if I enable Tools -> Preferences -> JSP and HTML Visual Editor -> Show Design Time Messages in Log I'm getting:
    WARNING: [ADFbc, ADFc, ADFm, ADF_FACES, TRINIDAD] features were found in ViewController.jpr but are not installed. Install these technologies before you proceed.Edited by: zmeda on Sep 1, 2011 11:55 AM Added WARNING

  • Display view scrambles pages that display fine in browser

    Help would really, really be appreciated.
    I have a number of pages for a site (at
    www.cognographics.com) which display perfectly in the browser.
    Until recently, they also displayed perfectly in display view in
    DW4. Then I replaced my PC (power surge zapped it), reinstalled
    DW4, and now the same pages appear scrambled, with layers scattered
    across the page, tables mixed up, etc.
    Nothing changed in the code, and as I said, the pages display
    fine in IE7. I know the code is not the cleanest, with some of the
    styles in the CSS style sheet and others defined on the page, but
    (a) the browser does not complain and (b) when I created the pages
    in DW they looked fine.
    I have installed DW4 on four different PCs, I've even tried
    my pages in a friend's DW MX -- same result: Perfect preview in
    browser, but pages are messed up in display view in DW.
    I'm at my wits end -- any help would really, really be
    appreciated
    Thanks

    It's entirely possible. Dreamweaver's Design view is not
    nearly so
    forgiving as a browser's rendering.
    > I've tried an upgraded DW (MX);
    Ahh right. The bad news is that DMX is just pretty awful at
    rendering CSS
    layouts. Unfortunately the only thing you can do about this
    is to upgrade
    to a more current version of DW. The Design view in DW CS4 is
    perfect, for
    what that's worth. This page contains all the elements that
    will cause DMX
    to fall down (floated containers, and absolute and relative
    positioning).
    Sorry about that. And since DW4 is the immediate predecessor
    to DMX, it's
    not going to do as well as DMX even.
