NOTEBOOK MOUSE CURSOR FREEZES

Hiplease help ...my mouse curson freezes frequetly and that is irritating me alot. drivers needs update???

Not here. Your description matches a worn mouse. Have you tried cleaning the bottom of the mouse and also the mousepad? How old is the mouse? If you have access to a known-good USB mouse, try using that and see if that indicates that the OS X update was coincidence, and that your present mouse may have a frayed wire inside the cable or other fault. Replacement three-button scrollwheel USB mice sell for anywhere from US$20 to $90 and should be a matter of just plugging it in (additional driver software is only needed if you want to access additional model-specific features).

  • G570 USB mouse cursor freezing constantly

The problem will be explained lower but let me tell you how this was.
So I've had this problem like 1,5 years ago, after I bought the laptop. So I bought a cheap mouse for it back then, and I noticed that the laptop had problems with the USB mouse, fine, I thought it was the poor mouse, so I bought another cheap one, and it worked fine. Then I bought a gamepad, and again, this problem.
Today I bought a gaming mouse, and the problem re-appeared. I've been searching through the internet all day long.
Basically, the mouse cursor freezes constantly, also with that "plugged-unplugged" sound, but the touchpad works.
I've been looking all around, tried the mouse on another laptop and it works fine.
    I've tried:
    - Starting the laptop in safe mode.
    - Uninstalling/reinstalling the realtek USB reader or w/e its name is.
    - The device manager trick (I think you know what I'm talking about)
    - Been changing the OS many times after I bought the laptop, that problem persisted with the gamepad.
    - Tried different ports around the laptop.
None of them helped. BUT, I saw that actually it hangs when the CPU is throttling. I've changed my power plan to energy saver and the problem went away. I've changed the maximum/minimum CPU power, the problem went away.
But the frequency sets constantly at 800 MHz. What can I do to keep it at 2200 MHz (i3-2330M clock speed) and also keep the mouse working well?

    Hey Barrett_killz,
      Welcome to the forums
I would suggest you trying out a different USB mouse and see if that helps
Cant suggest anything else as you have already uninstalled and installed the Drivers
    keep me posted

  • New condition baffling mouse cursor freezes if I put it on a flat surface even with ac plugged in

    Hi all
I am now really stumped.  Here is the situation
ac adaptor plugged in mouse freezes
UNTIL I plug in WIRED and working lan cable.
if I unplug the lan cable from the router the mouse cursor freezes.
NOW that would be strange enough BUT if I unplug the LAN cable the mouse freezes again as expected UNTIL I lift up the S10 ( doesn't matter how I do it) the mouse starts to work again!!!! with the ac plugged in. So now you are all thinking it's the ac socket !!! nope thought about that and it's got nothing to do with it.   The mouse freezes the moment I put the computer down on a flat surface or even near it.
It's as if the bloody thing is effected by proximity to a mass ? anyone got any ideas

    Hi majorkong,
Additional ideas are possible shorts internal to the system.  I definitely have a reason to believe that the unit has a hardware problem.  This is either through the touchpad, touchpad cable, or on the motherboard.
As I see here you have already communicated with us before.  Here is your previous thread with us.
    Have a good night.

  • Mouse cursor freezing up

I am a new iMAC user after many years on a PC. Quite often my mouse cursor freezes up on the screen and my only remedy seems to be to shut down and reboot. This can't be right! There must be a better solution. Can anyone out there assist me?

I've had the exact same problem ever since I upgraded to Leopard, and the successive updates, including the very latest 10.5.3, have not solved it! I am so disappointed. This is a severe bug. I used to be able to fix it by logging in and out, but today I had to shutdown and restart because my keyboard logout command was not getting through. I can't be sure about this, but it seems as though the problem occurs if I happen to be still be moving the mouse cursor and the logout sequence is engaged. It's as if moving the mouse cursor at this critical time is causing the system to have to keep track of it AT THE SAME TIME the system is trying to kill my user processes. The mouse cursor process ends up dead alright, all the way to the login screen! (Those who are familiar with how UNIX manages processes will understand what I'm talking about.) Please Apple, fix this. Please. This didn't use to happen in Tiger, so how does something like this get broken?

  • Baffling mouse cursor freezes if I remove the WIRED ethernet connection??

    Hi all
I just installed XP professional on my S10  model 4231 bios 14cn34ww  dated 08/26/2008
so if I run it connected to the lan using the wired connector all is well BUT the moment I take out the rj45 the mouse cursor freezes. If I plug it back in then all is well again.
I want to use this outside so I need to get this fixed.
    any ideas please?
    thanks
    Solved!

    hi majorkong,
It sounds like there's a possible short somewhere on the system.
    Try to do the following:
    1. Restart the computer in Safe Mode with Networking (continuously press F8 during boot-up).
    2. If all is well, perform a clean boot and observe.
    3. If same problem, open Network Connections (press Windows Key + R, then type ncpa.cpl)
    4. On the network connections, disable the Local Area Connection.(do a right click > disable)
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
    5. After disabling the LAN, reboot into normal mode & try to use the Touchpad
    6. If the Touchpad responded without any issues, try to re-install both the Ethernet driver and then re-install theTouchpad driver

  • Mouse Cursor Freezes

The mouse cursor is freezing momentarily before resuming. I have changed ports and plugged in another mouse (used) and it still happens.
I am running 10.4.11 on an eMac G4.

Also, Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them.

  • Quirky Mouse/Cursor Freeze

    Greetings Again,
My iMac is running pretty well but it has developed a quirky habit of a temporary freeze if I move the mouse (cursor) too fast! Has anybody experienced this fun thing ? I move the mouse to a distant point it will not follow me without first going into a freeze maybe midway and then it catches up with where I'm going.
If it does this this too much then can eventually go into a permanent system freeze which will require a system restart and then it goes through the Disc Repair routine, etc.
My first inclination was to toss it off as "oh well, this is just iMac, what do you expect" but then when I recover I tell myself "no,no, it never did this before !."
I've tried the usual - Rebuild Desktop, temporarily cancel Extensions, move files temporarily to Trash, etc.
    No change !
I'm using my Mozilla browser with Netscape.
    Thanks,
    Jack

I'm using my Mozilla browser with Netscape.
Do you mention this fact because this mousing problem happens when you are running Mozilla? Or does it happen all the time?
    I've tried the usual...
Did you reset the PRAM? Also, your PRAM battery can be weak or dead, which can cause unusual problems.
    temporarily cancel Extensions
Is that a "shift boot" (hold down shift key during start up until you get the "extensions off" message)? If it's something else, try a shift boot to see if the problem persists. If it does not persist, you may have a system extension conflict, or some other problem with our current system installation. If it does persist after an "extensions off" startup, you may have a hardware problem. Try a different USB mouse, if you have one. Also, try a different USB port with the same mouse.

  • Mouse cursor freezes a few seconds after start-up? Need help!

    Laptop: Samsung Series 9
    OS: Windows 8.1
Problem: since booting up my computer today, my cursor will freeze about 30 seconds after boot-up. Prior to this, I'll be able to move my cursor for a few seconds as I normally would, but then I will inevitably see the blue loading circle next to the cursor
and then my cursor will be frozen in place. I can still use my keyboard/everything else functions regularly. I decided to boot up my computer in safe mode and my cursor works fine. Clearly then, there must be some software/start-up issue?
I should note that I used my laptop fine yesterday night. When I booted it up today my cursor froze and I saw the restart prompt that said windows will restart on its own in 1 day to update. So I updated/restarted and the problem persists.

    Hi,
Mostly, this issue is caused by third party services or programs conflict problem.

  • Freezing Mouse Cursor

Hi, Every once in a while my mouse cursor freezes and I have to power off and then start the Mac again.
What should I do about this problem? I use a Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver 2002); run Mac OS X Tiger.
    Angel

    Hi Angel,
Two things to try, first try unplugging the Mouse wait few seconds & plug it in again.
    Second, try another mouse.

  • After Software Update, USB Power Issues and Cursor Freezing

I have a 1.8 dual g5. After the latest software update I experienced some seriously quirky usb power fluctuations, a card reader frying and sudden, but temporary, mouse cursor freezing. I did some research and went for a clean install from original Leopard disc and downloaded the combo update 10.5.2 from apple support. I then restarted in "safe mode" and ran the 10.5.2 update, restarted, zapped the pram, restarted to disc warrior to repair permissions and clean the drive... then restarted again. Same deal: Spinning lines on gray 1-2 minute. black (sometimes white) screen 3-5 minutes. blue screen 1-2 minutes. log in.
Tried cocktail, disc utility permission repair and removing log-in applications/drivers. Same deal... ****** computing. I feel like it's 1999 all over again.
Cost me three full days work so far under a very tight deadline and a lot of stress..... Apple is 100% responsible for this messy release and needs to address it quickly.

My problem is similar to the others already posted, but quite different too. Perhaps someone else has had this strange issue occur. I attach my nike+ receiver and set my workout as usual, and then I come to selecting playlists. I select my playlist (which is titled running) and my work out starts. HOWEVER, the playlist that I selected plays music from another playlist such as sarah mclachlan (which is not in my running playlist). I have tried everything that you guys already posted short of doing a restore. Any thoughts? I posted this same question on the nikeplus.com web forum but no one has replied. I can find no sequence to the playlist malfunction. For example say I choose to play my sarah mclachlan playlist it will play my irish playlist instead and so forth. Make sense? HELP!!!!!

  • Please help: Mouse cursor on MBP repeatedly freezing for a few seconds

    Hi all
I bought a MBP last week, and today I started experiencing problems with the mouse cursor. No matter whether I'm using the trackpad or an external mouse (I've tried using both a wired Mighty Mouse and a wireless Logitech), when I'm moving the cursor it keeps freezing for a few seconds (perhaps less than a second), and then I "regain" control of it, only for it to freeze again after a short while.
The only thing that I can think of that might have something to do with this is that I replaced the 2GB of Apple RAM with 4GB of OWC RAM a couple of days ago. Can this be the reason?
Please help me, as this problem renders the computer impossible to use:(
    Thanks in advance
    Daniel
PS: I'm running Mac OS 10.5.1 and I've got the Keyboard Freeze Update Installed.

    Hi.
I have a similar problem, however I realized it is somehow related to weather the airport is on. If I turn it off, there are no freezes. It is weird, and I'm going to go with it to Apple.

  • I am also having trouble with my cursor freezing after installing Mavericks. Never did it before. I called tech support at Apple and they had me restart computer and mouse together from a complete shut down. So far has seemed to work.

I am having trouble with my cursor freezing between applications after installing Mavericks. Called Apple on my 3 year warranty and opened a case. They suggested a complete shut down of computer and turning off mouse. Then a reboot and turn on mouse. So far iit has seemed to work. Hope this continues??
    Hope it helps others.

I think you can solve your problems by removing your AppleID email address from BOTH the Messages setting on your iPhone and the iMessages settings on your Mac.
    On iPhone:
    Settings > Messages > iMessage > Dissabled
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > touch the "(i)" < touch "Remove This Email"
    On Mac:
    Open "Messages" application
    Click "Messages menu > Preferences
    Click "Accounts"
    Select your AppleID account
Under the "You can be reached for messages at" settings, uncheck your AppleID email address and your phone number
Then uncheck the "Enable this account" setting
And lastly, ask all of your friends with iPhones to delete all iMessage conversations (blue bubbles) in their entirety.
To test, send a friend a new text using their phone number (not their email address) and watch the color of the bubble.  If it's green then you are using SMS.

  • [SOLVED] Putting mouse cursor on system tray = freeze for 1~3 sec

Hello guys, I got 2 problems with setting up my graphical package or something.
    1. I've installed "Arch 64bit + Openbox Stand alone + Catalyst" on my desktop.
When I put my mouse cursor on the system tray, whole system freezes for  1~3 seconds.
    2. When I open "Thunar", randomly icons and fonts are blurry. Sometimes it opens clearly but sometimes not.
There is no problem at all when I install "ArchBang 64-bit". This seems to be that I missed to install some specific package.
    Any idea?

This is a strange problem, and probably something stupid I've done. If I move my mouse to the lower right hand side of the desktop
(bottom panel or system tray it freezes for a second or so).
This problem is repeatable on Xfce4.8 and also E17 desktop.
I have a microsoft optical mouse, so its not (mechanical mouse ball). More specifically I'm running at 1280x1024 res and the area
where the mouse pointer sticks is about 4cm from the right hand screen edge and 1cm down.
I am using an Ati Radeon HD4770 card with the proprietry fglrx driver  Catalyst 11.5 and graphics acceleration is fine.
    My /etc/X11/xorg.conf below:
    Section "ServerLayout"
        Identifier     "aticonfig Layout"
        Screen      0  "aticonfig-Screen[0]-0" 0 0
    EndSection
    Section "Module"
    EndSection
    Section "Monitor"
        Identifier   "aticonfig-Monitor[0]-0"
        Option        "VendorName" "ATI Proprietary Driver"
        Option        "ModelName" "Generic Autodetecting Monitor"
        Option        "DPMS" "true"
    EndSection
    Section "Device"
        Identifier  "aticonfig-Device[0]-0"
        Driver      "fglrx"
        BusID       "PCI:1:0:0"
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
        Identifier "aticonfig-Screen[0]-0"
        Device     "aticonfig-Device[0]-0"
        Monitor    "aticonfig-Monitor[0]-0"
        DefaultDepth     24
        SubSection "Display"
            Viewport   0 0
            Depth     24
        EndSubSection
    EndSection
Being lazy I actually used this xorg.conf from PCLinux but I dont have the same mouse probelem on E17 or Xfce in PClinux.
When the freeze occurs  I cannot use keyboard, then about a second later, I have control again. The system works normally and no
    errors are wrote to /var/log/messages.
Only thing I can find in /var/log/Xorg.0.log is a warning:
[  3651.919] Warning: LookupWindow()/SecurityLookupWindow() are deprecated.  Please convert your driver/module to use dixLookupWindow().
Before using fglrx I was using the radeon driver. This is probably something stupid on my part, I am installing a  new hard drive shortly so will
    be re-installing.
The problem is as if some application is stealing the mouse focus, but I cannot understand why it is happening to that specific area on the screen.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
    Some hardware:
    Intel i5 750
    Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 (Intel P55A chipset)
    ATI Radeon HD5770
MS Wheel Mouse Optical (USB connector not PS/2)

  • [Solved] Login freezing with busy mouse cursor and black screen.

After installing some recent updates I have suddenly found a problem when starting the login manager for Cinnamon.
After booting I am greeted with a black screen and a "busy" mouse cursor - like a stopwatch. I can't ctrl-alt-backspace to restart X.
What fixes it is - if I ctrl-alt-F2 to a new console and kill -9 the Xorg process. This causes X to restart normally. I have to do this every time now
I don't know if this is systemd related or what, but it only seemed to happen after the updates below.

    WOW! That did it
Could you explain what happened or why this fixed it please?
    Thanks for your help.
I don't know the details to be honest, but the title of your post basically describes my situation with GDM when I used accountsservice >0.6.25, so I figured it was worth a shot, since the symptoms were the same.
Also, Cinnamon depends on accountsservice if I'm not mistaken, so it didn't seem unreasonable that the update broke Cinnamon too.
I'm glad it works now. Let's hope a updated, working version of accountsservice is released soon.
