Notebook not detecting printer

I had a network between my pc and notebook.  Now my PC which is old and not worth fixing isn't working.  so I have connected my printer (USB) directly to my notebook and it will print things from the notebook but I couldn't scan anything.  (HP C6280 all-in-one printer)  I tried installing with the disk so I could get the HP Solution software on the notebook. I the install stopped at one point because it can't seem to detect the printer.  I don't know if it has some thing to do with the printer port?  It is now on a USB port with virtual printer port for USB.  I guess what I want to know is,  is the network hook up keeping me from installing the printer directly to the notebook?  How do I fix this?

You say the "PC" was old and is now not working.  I'm guessing you had a disk with your printer installation files on it that worked in that old PC.  I'm also guessing that your laptop is a lot newer and may have a newer OS on it.  I would delete everything on the laptop that has anything to do with the printer that came from that CD and then download the latest complete installation file set for that printer that is designed for the OS on your laptop.

My PC is not detecting the printer I have hooked up to my iMac. I've activated printer sharing, and file sharing on the iMac. In fact, my PC does not even detect my iMac, though my iMac detects the PC. Thanks in advance.

  • C4580 Does Not Detect Printer Cartridge

My C4580 is flashing an error message on the LCD screen that says "Print Cartridge missing or not detected."  I printed several pages within the hour before this message appeared.  Both cartridges are there and printed the earlier pages with no issue.  Any ideas what's causing this?  I did take out both cartridges and re-inserted, no change in error message.

Welcome back to the HP Community, @Bacalhau
I read your post about your Photosmart D5360 not detecting an ink cartridge, and I am responding with my suggestions for you.
I would first recommend troubleshooting the issue by following all of the steps found in this guide:

If the message continues, your next step of action would be to contact HP's Technical Support to discuss printer replacement options with you.

  • Notebook not detecting Wifi or available networks

So usually when I start up my Notebook my computer starts up and automatically connects to my home WIFI. Well yesterday when I turned on my laptop it didn't connect or even show the WIFI signal at the bottom right notification bar. Instead there was this new icon that said I had to connect my laptop to a Ethernet cabel that looks like a phone jack? When I went to my Available Networks setting Wifi wasn't even an option. This laptop has a tendancy of making changes overnight so now this is frustrating cause I can't connect to the internet of use my laptop. Someone please help!

All you got to do is wrap your Notebook in a towel (make sure notebook not exposed) then let it be in there for 5 hours. Once thats complete then your notebook should be able to detect wifi or avalible networksaalvarez391 wrote:

  • LaserJet Pro MFP M276nw software installer not detecting printer via USB or wi-fi - Windows 7

I am trying to install a LaserJet Pro MFP M276nw on Windows 7 Home Premium x64, and I know the printer functions fine, as I have installed it on both Windows Vista Basic x32 and Windows 7 Professional x64 all on the same desktop. The operating system has been changed a couple of times, hence the multiple installs.
I downloaded the full featured software from HP.com and went through the routine of installation as per usual, except that now the software doesn't detect the printer when it requests that I connect it via USB.  Trying to install via wi-fi doesn't work because the printer still needs to be attached via USB in order to create the proper wireless handshake.  Windows 7 detects the printer, and in-fact installed the drivers for it automatically.  However, the printer installation software suite does not respond to the printer being connected, and just hangs there, waiting for it to appear.
I have tried multiple USB ports and it's the same issue.  I've installed the basic driver also available for download on HP.com, but that software does not appear to include an option for scanning files to the computer.  The printer itself will scan to email or to to a USB thumb drive, and even to a network folder, but not directly onto the computer.  If it wasn't a necessary function of an all-in-one printer, I wouldn't bother with the scanning feature and simply make do with the basic printer driver.
Anyone have some sort of idea regarding this issue?

    Hi @KP_ ,
I see that you are having issues with setting up the printer on the one computer. I would like to help you out today.
I would uninstall the software, turn off the Startup programs, Antivirus software and update the driver during the install by the post I have provided.
    Disconnect the USB cable.
    Uninstall the software.
Here are the steps to run the uninstall from the computer or the CD.
    To uninstall from program files:
Touch the Windows key and the E key to access the computer window.
    Select the C drive.
Select program files or program files x86.
Open the HP and printer name folder.
    Select uninstall.
Uninstall the software from the CD:
Touch the Windows key and the E key to access the computer window. Right click on the CD for the printer, left click open in a new window, double click on uninstall.
I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software to see if there is a program interfering in the back ground. How to use MSCONFIG . Click on the start up tab and click disable all.
Download, save and then run the latest drivers. Don't Connect the USB cable until prompted during the install.
HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.
Right after connecting the USB cable, follow this document immediately. A Fatal Error Displays During Software Installation. Disregard the title. If the printer stays listed properly, don't worry about updating the driver.
    Test the printer.
Then you will have to go back and enable the Startup programs and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a great day!
    Thank You.

  • USB Ports on HP G60-230US Notebook Not Detecting USB Devices

I've had an HP G60-230US Notebook PC for about three and a half years now, and all of a sudden tonight my USB ports decided to all stop working.  I first noticed it when I tried to hook up my iPod to sync it and it didn't show up in iTunes.  I unplugged my wireless mouse to see if the other USB port would work with no luck, and when I plugged my wireless mouse back in it wasn't detected either.  I tried restarting my computer twice to see if that would take care of the problem but it didn't.
My notebook currently runs Windows Vista.  On a normal day I'll have my external harddrive (WD My Passport Essential 500 GB), my wireless mouse (Microsoft Wireless Mobile 3500) and my Targus Chillmat with 4 USB hubs in the back plugged into my 3 USB ports.  My printer is usually plugged into one of the Chillmat's USB ports.  When I want to sync my iPod I usually unplug the Chillmat because none of the USB hubs on it will detect the iPod.  At the moment my wireless mouse will still work if I leave it plugged into its USB port when I restart my computer, and all the chillmat is doing is cooling my laptop down.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

You may have exceeded the available power capacity of the USB ports in your notebook PC too many times. That can result in non functioning (forever)  ports. That is the specific reason that I recommend only using externally powered USB hubs.
You can check the current carrying capacity of the USB ports and see how much they are using via the device manager.
Open Device Manager and then right-click a USB root hub. Select properties and then the Power tab.
This particular system has many ports available.

"HP Solution Centre Cannot Run because your device installation is not complete"
After trying all solutions re device and software installation on this forum I have not been able to resolve the issue. However I believe I have narrowed down the problem and require expert advice on how to proceed.
Taking a step back, all I want to do is to be able to SCAN MULTIPLE PAGES, perform OCR (Optional) publish/print to PDF. If you can advise me how to do ALL of this quickly and efficiently without HP Solution Centre I would also be happy. Note the following are NOT valid suggestions as they do not allow me to scan mutliple pages into a single PDF.

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
My hunch is that HP Solution Centre cannot see my printer because it cannot find the CUE_Device_ID in the registry.
My hunch is that HP Solution Centre cannot see my printer because it cannot find the CUE_Device_ID in the registry.
Given I have uninstalled (Inc using the Uninstall_L4.bat) and re-installed several times, this is either because the installer is not configured correctly for Windows 7 Home Sp1 OR the HP Solution Softward is searching for the wrong identifier - i.e. "CUE_Device_ID" instead of just "DeviceID".
To help you diagnose, below is the contents of my registry for the below registry path. Point to note is that there is NO SUCH IDENTIFIER with the entry of CUE_DEVICE_ID.

    Troubleshooting performed:
I installed basic-only software/driver, then Dital Imaging Monitor and HP Solution Centre.
I received the "HP Solution Centre Cannot Run because your device installation is not complete" error.
I uninstalled all HP Software and re-installed FULL software from support site for this model (same error).
I browsed the forums, ran the uninstall l4 bat and re-installed using USB-Cable mode, but this also resulted in the same error when opening HP Solution Centre.
I Ran HP Print and Scan Doctor and this gave me the pointer that something was still wrong in the registry "A problem was found with device registration" (see attached).
I came accross the HPDiagnosticCoreUI_PSdrServer.log file and saw the specific registry path issue, and that it was not fixed by the tool, but do not know how to proceed.
Connection Method: Initially wireless but also tried USB.
    Thanks

Hello - Is there an HP expert in the house?? HP Expert day is today!!

  • Webcam Ultra live for notebooks not detected?

I recently tried to install my Webcam Ultra live for notebooks. I couldn't find the installation CD, so I downloaded the driver in accordance with Creative Labs email.

Unfortunately Snow Leopard removed many thrid party cam support. They keep working under Leopard and Tiger, though.
To get a cam working under 10.6 be sure it uses the UVC standard.
A good and safe choice is the Xbox Live Vision which works perfectly with 10.6.

The problem I've had in Mac Pro with Hauppauge's USB myTV.PVR (which also had Eskape CD - 32 Bit that ran in Leopard but not Snow) was same message in Vista U. 32Bit : this device can perform better...
which I ignored. The message does not occur in Windows 7. I do have problems with MCE not recognizing the tuner occasionaly but prefer to use Hauppauge's WinTV 5,6,7 App. in any case.
If you have not been to Hauppauge's site you may see something that helps including driver updates here:

  • HP installer will not detect networked LaserJet MFP M1536dnf just on some PCs

    Hello,
this printer/scanner was working fine (printer still works fine via a Windows print server). Then scanning (via network) stopped working on one PC (Windows 7).
Tried to uninstall drivers / HP software and reboot. Then tried to install again - HP Installer will not detect printer on the network no matter what. I can ping the IP of this printer, access its web interface without any issues on the same PC. Tried specifying IP address in the installer - does not detect, the same issue with MAC address.
Had a Windows 8 machine with drivers / software installed on it, tested - scanning still worked fine on that PC. Tried to remove HP software to see if problem will appear. And it did! I cannot install the same software package which I still had in downloads - it will NOT detect the printer on network.
Upgraded printer firmware - no change, even though I don't expect this to be a printer issue as it worked fine until I have uninstalled software on this W8 machine.
Tried using HP Scan & Print doctor. That thing doesn't see printer/scanner installed and only suggest to download and install software which is not helpfull at all.
I also tried extracting HP installation files and finding *.inf files which could be used to add scanner via Windows directly, but haven't succeded with that (I would also be not sure how to specify network IP address in such a case anyway).
Any help is MUCH appreciated. We are kind of stuck...
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Run some diagnostics and see if any issues are discovered.
There have been reported issues with the NVIDIA 650 with some of the HP PCs. Additionally, most models of the NVIDIA 650 require a 400 watt power supply as the minimum and some models require a PCI six (6) pin power connector which the 300 watt power supply in your PC is not provisioned.
There is a BIOS update posted for your PC so you might want to consider installing that update.

Since updating to Firefox 3.6.15, I can no longer print coupons from SmartSource. The error message is that Java is not detected. The check box is longer showing in the Options/Content of this version of Firefox, so I can not enable it.

Same PC as I used to post the question. When I go to the "plug in check" page, it shows I am up to date and it is not disabled.

  • Canon MP560 Printer is not detected by System Preferences

    Hi everyone,
I am using a 2010 Macbook Pro with OS X Version 10.7.5, I have had this Canon MP560 Printer for about 2 years now and it has been working perfectly until lately when it starts to keep on returning "a communication error has occured" whenever I tried to print something.
I have read through the forum and noticed that people have experienced the same thing as me.
So for me, I have tried the following solutions:
    1. Checking if the LAN connection is working and printing the LAN test page from printer. It does print ad says that wireless LAN is enabled an active.
    2. I deleted the printer and scanner from System Preferences and try to re-add it
    3. Update my software
When I tried to re-add it, there is no printer detected. I tried doing the step-by-step that PAHU recommended that worked for some one but unfortunately it does not work for me. My printer still does not appear when I tried to look up a printer.
(Here is the step by step that I followed:
The printer component of the MP560 can take longer to appear than the scanner component. The scanner uses Bonjour to advertise itself on the wireless network, while the printer component uses a proprietary protocol called "canonijnetwork". If you select to add a printer and have the Default Add Printer view open, you will see the MP560 as Bonjour Scanner in the Kind column. But if you wait at least 15 seconds more, the printer should appear showing "canonijnetwork" in the Kind column.
If this printer component does not appear after 30 seconds maximum then it would suggest a problem with the printer driver installation. So open Finder and navigate to HD > Library > Printers > Canon > BJPrinter and trash the contents of this folder. Then download the latest MP560 driver via this link and run the installer. With the installation completed, try to add the printer again.)
Since I have tried these suggestions but still is not successful I wonder what's wrong with my Printer/Macbook and if there's any other way to add printer (using IP address for example ). If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

Yes I can Ping the IP address from Network Utility.
Before, my Macbook couldn't even recognize the scanner, but now I can add the Scanner from System Preferences.
However, my printer is stll not detected. I am missing some sort of an application or something?

Product name :HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PCProduct no.: D4B10PA#ACJOperating system: Windows 8.1 64-bit version Hi,My PC does not detect my wireless connection.  All other deviced like my iphone, ipad etc do, so I know that the router is fine.also, I can see other networks near my vicinity but for some reason MY home network is not detected by my PC!My OS is up to date, so is my wireless adapter. I am using this forum by connecting to the internet by LAN cable. Please Please Please help me! Thanks,MS

Hi ,  Thank you for your query.   I grasp that your notebook does not find your network but does find others.  Your wireless drivers are up to date  as well as your OS. First what frequency is your network set to.  If you have it set on 5.0 GHz  please try changing it to either mixed mode or 2.4 GHz as that is the one the notebook works best on. Can you connect to a different network or hotspot? Have you ran the Windows troubleshooter? Have you ran the  HP Support Assistant ?
Here is a link to HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 8)that will provide more steps to try.   To show appreciation for my replying please click the thumbs up icon below. If this resolved your issue, please tell people by choosing solution provided.   Best of Luck!
