Notebook pavilion dv2520ea RAM upgrade

Can I upgrade the actual RAM (2x512MB PC2-5300 DDR2 667MHz 200 pin) using 2x1GB PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHz SO-DIMM 200 pin, and the notebook is able to really run this RAM at 800MHz?
Thanks.

Hi,
You can upgrade to 2Gb of RAM but this will only run at 667 MHz.  An example of compatible memory modules is on the link below.

Hope this helps.

  • Pavilion g7 RAM upgrade

I would really like to play computer games on my laptop but they all lag really bad. I was wondering if upgrading the RAM for the system would help or if that's even possible. I have a 4 gB RAM right now but I would like to upgrade to  6 or 8. I think the product number is QE304UA#ABA but that could be wrong. Does anyone know what I can do?
P.S. if I have the wrong product number and it's blatantly obvious, just let me know and I'll try to find the real one.

    Hi,
The following link shows the specs and model of your machine:
       http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c02974952
You can use the following information to buy more RAM. You can buy from them or use the info to buy elsewhere:

  • Hp Pavilion dv6765ev RAM upgrade

    Hi all,
I have an Hp Pavilion dv6765ev notebook, which I own since April 2008. It came with a total of 2GB RAM (2x1GB). Since it is already 6 years old, I am making some changes (for example, I ordered an SSD to replace the original HDD disc), and I was thinking of upgrading RAM.
I would like to be sure what RAM to buy. If I am not mistaken, I can upgrade up to 4GB, it's DDR2 (2x2GB)? For example, is the following kit ok?
    MUSHKIN 996559 4GB (2X2GB) SO-DIMM DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHZ DUAL CHANNEL KIT
Do you have a specific brand to propose? What should I pay attention to?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
    This is the manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01295877.pdf
    Specs: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay?javax.portlet.begCache...
The RAM config you chose is correct for your system.
The brand details I don't know, but it had good rating in newegg-
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146697
You can put the 2 memory sticks replacing the two pervious ones.
    For related info:
The part numbers listed in manual for replacement if ordering via HP post store are:
    http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=453774-001
    http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=457437-001
They are replaced by this new part -

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00350GJWA?pc_redir=1407318668&robot_redir=1
So, 800MHz is backward compatible with 667MHz too.
This CRUCIAL RAM is a good one too:

  • Pavilion dv6325ud ram upgrade

I was given a pavilion dv6325us notebook with vista home premium 32bit, running an amd turion64x2 tl-52 (1.6 ghz) with 1 gb ram. My researh suggests that I can upgrade the ram to 2gb. But I found a similar notebook, HP Compaq 6715b with vista business 64 bit with the same processor and that review said it could take 4 gb of ram. So, should I go to 2gb and be happy with that, or can I upgrade to 64 bit os and possibly run 4 gb of ram?

Only 2GB max memory is recommended for your notebook dv6325us. It is risky to use 4GB on your unit as I am not aware of any testing being done at hp or even successful installation from any customers.

    Oddball1959, welcome to the forum.
    Here are the Motherboard Specifications.
Here is the memory that is supported by HP and the motherboard:
    Single-channel memory architecture
    2 x 240-pin DIMM sockets support unbuffered non-ECC 400/533 MHZ DDR2 memory modules
Maximum HP/Compaq approved memory is 2 GB
The maximum memory is 2 GB (1GB x 2).  This is a 1 GB stick in each slot.
The maximum memory for a 32-bit OS is 4 GB (3.25 GB actually usable).  However, HP has only allowed for the 2 GB maximum in this motherboard.
This guide will explain the difference in ECC and non-ECC memory.

Comuter was running good with 2, 512mb RAM cards. I replaced them with 2, 1mb cards which one of the  2 was bad. When I installed the cards and turned on the computer I got no display on the monitor, I then touched the new cards and found one of the two was very hot. I turn off the computer immediately, took out the new cards and put the originals back in but the computer never came up again. I am a EE rather familiar with computers. Hi,
Given this, my feeling is you have burnt the motherboard of your machine. Much better spending time to check the motherboard rather than check other components.

At the same time please can I upgrade the RAM to 16 GB DDR3L? which is the Maximun RAM Upgradable?
    Best regards
    Christian

    Hi, Christian:
Yes, if you replace the hard drive or memory, the warranty will be voided as neither component is a DIY (do it yourself) project.
Please see the service manual at the link below, chapter 6 for the authorized service center removal and replacement procedures for those components.

  • RAM upgrade on HP EliteBook 8730w

Hi, I just bought two new hynix 4GB SODIMMs (4GB 2Rx8 PC2-6400S-666-12) and tried to install them into my laptop without luck. The computer starts with black screen and after a second or two the numlock and caps lock indicator LEDs starts to flash in blocks of three. The computer won't boot past this. From what I can gather 8GB RAM upgrade is possible and the mentioned RAM should be the correct one. Could either or both RAM sticks be faulty? Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
Generally, it's best to upgrade memory with matching modules so a suitable upgrade can be seen on the following link.
    http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Pavilion%20dv6-3225dx&Cat=RAM
If your notebook already has 1 x 4Gb Module and you just wish to purchase an additional one, use an application such as CPU-Z to match the specifications to your existing memory ( check the Memory and Spd tabs ).

  • HP dv6-6c75sa Windows 7 64-bit RAM upgrade

I am running an HP dv6-6c75sa on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, with an Intel Core i3-2350M processor. My installed software is a combination of 32- and 64- bit compatible.
When I purchased the computer, I installed a RAM upgrade which took the total onboard RAM to 8GB. Due to a system issue which I cannot now recall, a search query informed me that my system would only recognise 6GB of what I had installed.
My computer is now 2 years old, and to extend its lifespan, and help it keep up with a recent software install which it cannot seem to cope with (Native Instruments Traktor 2, and Kontrol S4; I would like to make a new RAM upgrade.
I think that the reason only 6GB of my 8GB installed was recognised, may have had something to do with the 32- vs. the 64-bit system, but I can't be sure.
I know that the maximum RAM for Windows 7 Home Premium is 16GB. What changes could I make now that would allow my system to work at or near 16GB of RAM capacity?
Also, where I have a mishmash of 32- and 64-bit software, on a clean install running 64-bit, I believe that I should be able to get all of my software running again. Are there any traps I should look out for that may hamper this.
Do you think that my processor is the thing that is limiting my RAM capacity?
    I would appreciate your input.

    Hi @hyfpxm ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6-6c75sa  Notebook and concerns with system recovery.
Here is a document on performing a system recovery. Here is a document on troubleshooting issues with performing a system recovery.
Always back up important information before attempting a recovery.
This system supports up to 8 GB DDR3  10600 1333-MHz and I would recommend 2- 4s. Here is a link to the manual page 60 for the memory. If the specs are correct for your memory I would reseat it.
Use the built-in Windows System Information utility to view information on Operating System, CPU type and speed, 32Bit or 64Bit design, and installed RAM memory. The section marked Find specifications using Windows System information.
    Hope this helps.
