Notebook PC frequently makes Windows sound as if found new hardware

My daughter asked me to take a look at her 1-1/2 yr old HP m6-1045dx Entertainment Notebook PC (Product Number:   B5S08UA).  Among other things, it frequently makes a Windows sound similar to when the OS finds new hardware.  However, nothing new shows either in Device Manager of the SysTray.
I cleaned up some other things on the system and then started to look into this issue.  I discovered I could replicate the issue by slightly closing the screen/lid from the full open position.  I only have to move it aout a 1/2 inch and the OS makes the same sound as if a new piece of hardware was found.
Loose connection?

Hi IMRedeemed,
From the steps that you have described, it does sound as though the cable has come loose from the connection. I have included the HP Pavilion m6 Entertainment PC - Maintenance and Service Guide. If you scroll to page 29 it will show you the different spare part numbers that are available for the display.
If you go further down through the manual to page 93, you will see the necessary steps on how to open up the display. As well show you where the display panel cable is connected.
Please let me know if after these steps, your still getting the same noise.
Thank you.

My Ipod is stuck at restore mode, when I downloaded fixrecovery and zlib1, they gave me a file which I can't open iBSS.n72ap. Fixrecovery wanted me to put it in DFU mode and I did but a window from my computer pops up telling me that it found new hardware and wants a CDrom to install. The ipod did not come with a CDrom software. It wont go back, and iTunes does not recongnize it. What should I do?

  • Hi,everybody there,now I'm facing some sounds problem with brand new iphone5

I made preorder for iphone5,64GB in apple onlinesotre/singapore from my country,Myanmar
via online agent! Fortunately, I got it early at 28/09/2012 in Myanmar! But now, unfortunately it doesn't
work correctly in sound sections! I showed it some professional apple devices cares in Myanmar and
All they suggested me to replace it at apple store! Please answer me that what I need to replace my phone
Because no voucher, where I can replace and how many days I get to replace it!
Please reply me as soon as possible and now I'm so disappointing with it!
    Thank you so much!

I seem to have the same kind of problem. My iPod Touch 8GB is frozen on a screen showing a USB cable pointing to an iTunes icon. I updated the iPod Touch today, then had to update iTunes in order for some apps to transfer. After updating iTunes, when I plug in the iPod Touch, iTunes does not see or recognize it. Windows XP pops up a window that says, "Found New Hardware Wizard".
I've tried force quitting the iPod Touch several times, it still opens to the "frozen screen image" stated above. I've stopped and started AMD, I've stopped and started iPod Service, under Administrative Tools.
I've restarted the computer several times.
I'm stuck for now. Will try to tackle this tomorrow.

  • Windows doesn't recognise I-pod, "hardware not found"

    Hi all,
I've looked on many different sites including this forum, but can't find an answer to my problem. I've tried to connect my new I-pod classic 80gb to my computer (windows XP) but it doesn't recognise it. The computer gets as far as the "found new hardware" window. It will then try to install the ipod, but can't find a driver for it. It says "the wizard cannot find the necessary software". If I go into the Computer Management the Ipod is visible, but with a question mark icon beside it.
The ipod connects to my husband's pc without trouble! His pc is older than mine. I can't work out why it won't work on my pc. Needless to say the ipod doesn't show up in i-tunes, either.
I would be very grateful for any help! Thanks in advance.

Try resetting the ipod first, it`s in the menue list at the bottom.
Remove and reconnect the plug into the ipod.
Boot up the PC wait until stable.
Connect USB connector to a different USB port than the one you have been using.
Check for the safely remove hardware icon in the row of icons near the clock icons.
If still not working I would suspect a corrupted windows file or the regestry files need cleaning up if you are confident to do it.
The easy way if you think it was worth it is to reset your PC to factory settings but this would mean copying your personal files to a disc or a external drive.Reloading loads of windows patches. It takes 2-3 hours, it`s a pain but it should get you over your problem.
Even easier take your PC and IPOD to a computor repair person and get them to sort it, at a price of course.

Setting up your phone "as new iphone" is covered in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
Before you connect to a new PC, make sure that autosync is disabled in Edit/Preferences/Devices, otherwise your phone will be wiped during the following sync.
If you have data on the phone you want to save, back up manually:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing. Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards. Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.
Since changing your iTunes library will erase your phone again, do the same process when you change back to your normal PC.

  • A tiny little cry for help: mic in bootcamp makes me sound like a mouse!

I posted this on the InsanelyMac forum, and I thought I'd post it here too because I'm just that desperate for help... thanks in advance for reading.
I run a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo. When Snow Leopard came out I installed it and partitioned my drive to allow me to run Windows via bootcamp for the purpose of playing Aion with my husband.
The game works fine, although it only works correctly when I'm hooked to my large Dell monitor. The built-in display makes the mouse/cursor not function correctly in-game.
But that's relatively minor... the biggest problem is that the built-in mic, as well as any mic I plug into the Line In, makes me sound like a mouse when I speak. I SO don't want to be known as the squeaky mouse over ventrilo. (The problem occurs in a regular sound recorder too, so it is NOT ventrilo specific).
The audio device is listed as Intel High Definition Audio: Device ID 0x83847680, Audio ID 30 - whatever that means.
When I dive into the Control Panel audio preferences when booted into Windows, the driver is listed as IDT audio.
Audio output seems to function perfectly.
I would sure appreciate help if anyone has expertise or experience with this sort of thing. I'm at a little bit of a loss.
    TIA,
    Jen

Hey, I had a thought, I don't know if it'll work and won't get the chance to find out until later tonight if I'm not too tired or until later tomorrow.
I think that if the IDT drivers aren't installed in the first place, perhaps the issue can be averted entirely. However, it's going to take a bit of knowledge to do and some patience. The partition will need to be remade entirely so that one may end up with a fresh operating system. When the SL disk is put into the computer, instead of running the full driver setup, pick the drivers directly off the disk by exploring its folders and only install the ones you need. Instead of using the IDT drivers, I believe the SL disk also has Realtek HD audio drivers (if I remember correctly from the last time I looked). My thought is that this manual method can prevent having to deal with the IDT drivers which I believe are part of the issue.
I understand that reinstalling XP is a process in itself, but this is the only solution I can think of. If manually installing doesnt work, my next move would be to use the drivers that come off the Leopard disk instead of the SL disk.
Like I said, this is just a thought I have so when I get to it later I'll let you know how it goes unless you decide to give it a try before me.

  • System(Windows) sound is quiet

I have a dv6-1355dx and until a few days, the sound was just fine.  For some odd reason, now the Windows system sounds have gotten quieter.  I checked all of the sound settings and everything is on high volume.  Even other video/audio clips are as loud as it should be, but the Windows sounds just seemed to be muffled.  I've installed newer drivers, reinstalled the original driver and nothing makes it different
Does anyone have any clue as to what could be the cause?

    - Go to Settings>Music and see if volume limit is turned on.
    - Try resetting your iPod.  Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
-Try fully inserting and then pulling out the headphone plug about five to ten times.
    - Restore the iPod.  First from backup and if problems persist. restore to factory defaults.
    - If still problems. I wold make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IDT Audio ((((Missing Enhancements Tab )))) in Windows Sound Speaker Properties

    I have owned a HP Pavilion G4 2129TX  core i7 3632QM windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
last week, my computer crashed in a big way so I reinstalled Windows 7. I figured out all of my drivers and my Sound Works fine. The only problem is that I no longer have access to the   Enhancements Tab in my Windows Sound...
now my speaker seems too low in terms of sound not like as before.. my IDT driver is already updated but nothing changes. ..Any help to get it back would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Whether you have an enhancement tab in the Sound properties window depends on the particular audio driver loaded - some give this option and some don't.
    Try the following.
First of all, uninstall your current IDT driver from its entry in Programs and Features and when done, restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, download and install the version on the following link.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55501-56000/sp55977.exe
When the installation has completed, restart the notebook again before checking if the enhancements tab is now available.

  • ITunes disables my Windows sounds and takes away the volume control

I have searched and found no answer to this- others have posted this same question.
I installed itunes and it removed my volume control from the task bar. It disabled my Windows sounds and took away the volume control from the System Tray next to clock. My media buttons no longer affect the volume either. I have to go into control panel to change my system volume.
At first- it only happened when my daughter would plug in her iPod and use iTunes, and then after we'd reboot the computer, the volume control would come back and no longer be disabled. Each time she used iTunes, it would happen again. Then a computer restart would bring it back. Now all of a sudden, nothing brings it back. I have to go about 4-5 screens deep into Control Panel to adjust the volume there. This is ridiculous and an absolutely unacceptable side effect of iTunes.
Does someone have an answer or do we need to delete iTunes and never again buy a crappy apple product?

    Figured it out!
Go to Control Panel -> Sound
In the “Playback” tab, click on your Speakers to highlight it, then click Properties. In the “Advanced” tab, under “Exclusive Mode”, uncheck the box that says “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”. I restarted my computer after that, but I am not sure if you need to.
Then you can go to your taskbar and right-click and choose “Properties”. In the “Notification Area” tab, under System icons, “Volume” is no longer grayed out and you can now check the box to make it show up down near your clock again.
