Notebook won't charge ??

Hi can anyone help last night I plugged my hp pavilion notebook in to charge and all I got was a white flashing light that turned red and went straight off without charging the battery. I've tried unplugging the ac and removing the battery holding down the power to no avail. It seems as if the charger has power as when I plug it in to the laptop the white light flashes and then goes off hellppp

Hi,
Could you mention the product number and model number of your notebook. And can you try the below steps and let me know what happens
1. Remove the battery and connect the AC power adapter to laptop, check if the laptop turns ON or not.
2. If the laptop does not turn ON, check the lights on caps lock & on power button. If its blinking or not.
You can follow the steps as listed below if the lights are blinking.

  • Brand new G780, battery won't charge

I got my G780 a month ago. It was brought to me from USA (I'm in Europe) where it was only tested for a few minutes. Yestarday I started it up for the first time. Battery stays on "0% (plugged in, charging)" and it won't charge. I tried to take it out and hold the power button for a minute - nothing.

    hi,
Can you try turning on the system without the AC plugged in see if that'll work.
If it does not turn on I suggest you check this international Warranty Hotline numbers.

  • DV7-3165 battery won't charge

Hi my HP Laptop Windows XP DV7-3165 model won't charge when I plug in my power chord.  It hovers at 18% charged and has the message (plugged in, not charging). This never happened before and I tried looking at the power options menu in the control panel but nothing can get the computer to recognize the power chord anymore.  Any thoughts?

    Hi,
It may be worth trying the following.
First of all, shutdown the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for a full minute.
Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here.  When the uninstall is complete, shut the notebook down, unplug the AC Adapter, insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and then start the notebook.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - see if this has helped the issue at all.

  • PowerBook G4 won't charge battery

    Hi all
My last-generation PowerBook G4 won't charge its battery. It will run fine off of its power adapter, but it won't attempt to charge the battery, which the system states as having a 0% charge.
I don't think it's the battery; the last time I ran the PowerBook off the battery a few weeks ago, the battery was still holding a charge for over an hour. The battery has been used for 179 cycles; iStat Pro describes the battery health as being 87% (this may be wrong, of course, since it is also describing the battery as charged). The PowerBook just isn't trying to push a charge to the battery.
I only use my PowerBook every so often; usually it spends its time off, and not plugged in. Last time I found the battery had completely drained, to the extent that the clock has lost its time, so I put it on to charge, and left it. The next time I tried to use it was when I realised it wasn't charging. The notebook hasn't taken a knock that I'm aware of (at least, a new one), so I'm not sure why this is suddenly happening.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated. I don't want to waste time and money dropping £100 on a new battery if the issue lies with the PowerBook itself.
    Cheers!
    (PowerBook specs: 1.67GHz PB G4, 2GB RAM, Mac OS X 10.4.11)

Well, I left the laptop unplugged (and with the battery out - not that it would've made a lot of difference, since it doesn't currently have enough juice to highlight ANY of the charge indicator LEDs) for and hour and a half, booted the machine, and the clock kept its time. I'm not sure what that proves at this point, if anything.
As for the charging circuit, well the computer still isn't charging the battery (the main battery, not the PRAM battery). From your suggestions, the socket seems fine, maybe a touch lose, but then it's not exactly new, and my old adapter used to be worse. The only similar charger I have to hand is an adapter from an iBook that's about a year older, so I'm not sure the wattage will match. That said, surely since the adapter is actually powering the computer, it won't be the adaptor or the DC-in board, since I assume they are also responsible for getting the power to the computer itself?
I assume (and I am assuming here) that it is either a knackered battery or logic board. This machine has already had its logic board and DC-in board replaced, for what its worth, back when it was only 5 weeks old (probably irrelevant).
Thanks for your help thus far!

  • PowerBook 5300 won't charge

my old PowerBook 5300 won't charge the other day I got it to boot by wiggling the cable but if it moves a little bit it doesn't charge anymore. The battery still holds a charge but once it's dead it's almost impossible to get it charged.

This is not an unusual problem with notebook computers. The solder joints at the DC-in jack work loose. Anyone with basic soldering skills could resolder the pins. You can find disassembly guides, for example, at ifixit.com. Repair instructions regarding this very issue on the PowerBook 5300 can also be found on the Internet.

  • Re: my hp chromebook 14 won't charge

My hp chromebook won't charge fully ! How long should a battery last ? I ran the test no problem found ! How much will a new battery cost ?

    Hello @mustlovedogs1 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a great  place to find answers.
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I grasp that your notebook does not fully charge the battery but it  tests fine no problems found.
The time for a battery to drain will vary as power requirements change when using the notebook.  The heavier the load, the faster the drain.
Here is a link to Troubleshooting hardware issues using diagnostics  to guide you to know if the battery requires replacement
You can check the user guide for a part number for a replacement battery and then do a search to obtain some prices.
As you did not provide which Chromebook you have, I  could not search for  the maintenance and service guide for your notebook.
If this has not fully addressed your concerns, I suggest contacting HP support for further assistance.
Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside of the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Phone Assist Worldwide

  • My 4th gen iPod Touch won't charge

    Hi, folks:
Suddenly, my 4th generation iPod Touch won't charge. I don't mean it won't hold a charge; I mean it WON'T charge. There's no (peep!) when I attach it to a Mac, a Windows box, or to the wall. I've tried not only at my place but at my doctor's office, too, on his computer. Rats.
It fell three feet onto a concrete floor a week before this happened, so I'm unsure of cause/effect there. However, chances are most excellent that I touched it while filled with static electicity (my bed is exceedingly staticky). Maybe I touched the charging port? I have no idea, but I kinda sorta have a memory of having gotten a shock while touching my pod and wondering whether that was bad.
It'll be a couple more days before I can get to a Genius Bar (but thank cow I'm in New York City and have my pick of them!). In the meantime, can anyone calm me down about my situation? Do you imagine it's doomed (it IS still operable provided I keep it plugged in, though iTunes can't see it since it won't mount), or do you spose the installation of a new battery might bring my precious baby back to me? It IS freshly backed up (again, thank cow!), but I'm not in a position to buy a new one right now, and unfortunately, I don't know what to do with my eyeballs without a Touch in front of them.
Oh, how I hope someone can tell me that this has happened to him, and an Apple Genius merely did something magical and handed it back intact and amazing again so Ican cry happy tears. It's been four days and I'm just sick without it (and having to look at this gigantic Mac, with its large and beautiful text in many windows, means I can't RECLINE! WAAAAH!).
Thanks for any soothing words you have, and if you have sad ones, well, I'll vag up and read them, as I've prepared for the worst anyway (sob!). Just please deliver them gently.
    I appreciate it!

Wow, Kevin; that's a tantalizing theory! I don't like it (I *never* like to think about logic board damage for any piece of hardware), but it's tantalizing, as it would explain my pod seemingly charging out of thin air, and it'd also explain why my pod doesn't just DIE altogether from a dead battery.
I feel like an idiot: I have iTunes set to never sync automatically with my pod, so it never automatically recognizes the pod. I'll bet I could sync it if I clicked to "apply," as I've been downloading new apps since 2/21 (the last time I backed the pod up, mere minutes before it failed), but I don't want to risk not having a connection that's 100% and bollixing up what's on the pod now. (I'll be in the hospital for a day and will need something to read the whole time; I'll need an intact pod!)
Thanks for sticking with me, Kevin; I always like figgering things out, and your theory's interesting. I'll mention it to the Genius. It doesn't give me any hope, but not having any hope, I can always be pleasantly surprised, whereas if I go in all hopeful, someone can dash my dreams. This way, I'll prolly just have my expectations met.
I appreciate your talking it out with me a lot!

  • My iphone 5 won't charge :(

My iphone 5 won't charge with the cable I bought, I don't know if its because maybe it isn't an apple product? Can somone please help me! thank you

If you did buy a 3rd party product, that could be a reason. Can you check with an original Apple USB cable?
To ensure the best possible experience, Apple has created special compatibility requirements for accessory manufacturers. Products that are engineered and certified to be compatible have a "Made for" label on their package. To ensure compatibility when purchasing third-party accessories for use with your device, look for accessories that are authorized to use the "Made for" label associated with your device (see below).
