Notepad Application recommendations?

I'm moving to the iPhone from a Treo, and the one thing in the Treo that I really miss is my old Memo Pad program. Apple's "Notes" program is definitely not good enough as a replacement. So I've been poking around the Apps Store, and haven't found anything yet. Here are the features I'd like:
-Create, edit and delete notes on the phone (seems obvious, but at least one of the programs on the Apps Store can't do this)
-Put notes into categories (Notes can't do this)
-Put notes in any order I'd like (as opposed to forced sort by date)
-Some easy way to get notes off of the phone, whether that's e-mail integration, sync to a website, sync to my computer...whatever, I'm not picky.
Are there any iPhone apps out there that do all of that?

Have you tried YouNote? The developers claim it is backs up to your computer so that should you ever need to restore your phone, the information in YouNote is not lost. They also say the ability to send email from the program will be coming in the next update. It's a cool tool that's organizable by alphabet, date added or color-coding. Besides text memos, you can do photo memos, 1-minute voice recordings, drawings, and web screenshots. Some memos can even be combined. And all text you input is searchable. Sure worth it since it's free! (I have nothing to do with them; I just spent a couple of hours today looking at their YouTube videos - no sound..., their website, and playing around with it having downloaded it a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't used it because I didn't think it backed up to the computer and was, therefore, not safe enough...but they claim it is.)

Start by going through the Swing tutorials linked from the topic listing page of the [_Swing forum_|http://forums.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=57]. When you are confident of being capable of displaying a dialog with the components you need, correctly layed out, check out the API for GraphicsEnvironment#getAllFonts and Font@canDisplyUpTo.

With all of the applications available, what other applications recommended to use along with Captivate 8. I do not heed to install all of them, just what I need.

Personally I use both Photoshop and Audition (both in CC) a lot when using Captivate 8. There is roundtripping possible with those two Adobe applications. If you have a CC subscription try it out! And when needing HTML5 output, you can insert published Edge Animate files, to replace former Flash animations. As you can see in CP8, Edge Inspect can be used to test the output on mobile devices without having to publish or to deploy on a webserver.

IPhone Unofficial Applications - Recommended??

hi guys, just wondering if anyone had downloaded and installed any of the various unofficial applications that are widely available?
One in particular that caught my interest was an application that allows you to add themes to your iPhone to change the appearance of your home screen.
Has anyone had any problems after installing such applications to their iPhone?
Would you recommend doing so or do you think its a risk not worth taking?
My iPhone was purchased legitimately from an o2 store on contract and has up to date firmware (1.1.4).

Independent Volume Control - control by Application - recommendations?

I need an application that allows me to control volume of applications independently.
What I need is to be able to a) make Garageband louder, because it's super quiet, and b) make browsers quiet (e.g. for noisy ads). Bonus would being able to make Screenflow louder and Mail quieter.
Can anyone give me recommendations? (Paid app, free app, whatever actually works.)
I'm on Lion right now but will probably upgrade to Mountain Lion soon. MacBook Pro 2012.

That is sort of what I mean, but like I want to mute everything but one application in the case of an accidental sound, i.e. I want iTunes running with full volume, but volume off on Safari in the event I stumble upon a webpage with sound. I'm running a presentation but would like the ability to use other functions of the comptuer without worrying sound will accidently be made. In other words, most applications I'm talking about don't really have volume control, like Safari, Finder, Mail, iChat, ect. without setting it to never make sound or turning the volume off completely.

Project time tracking application recommendations?

I'm a freelance worker and am having trouble finding the right time-tracking and project management software "for me."
I'm using Adobe Klok, whose interface and layout I really like, but as it's based on a web app, it's a little cumbersome to use (I like using more keyboard shortcuts and having a more flexible interface).
The dream feature I'm hoping exists out there is something that lets me activate the program with a keystroke (like Spotlight or Quicksilver) to just type in text in order to update whatever I'm doing. I often switch what I'm doing every 10-15 minutes, and updating Klok on what exactly this is so often is irritating and hard to stay up on.
Anyone have any recommendations?

Online Demonstration - Web Conference Application recommendations

Hi Folks.
I want to be able to perform an online 'web conference' style demonstration of my APEX application.
In other words I want to invite a bunch of people to connect to a URL where they can passively watch a demonstration of my application that I will perform.
I wondered if any of you had any suggestions for an economic way of doing this.
I was watching Marc Sewtz's APEX 4.0 demo for the German guys earlier today. I guess I'm after something just like the Oracle Web Conference app but, as I only need to do this a couple of times I'm looking for an economic, ad-hoc way of achieving something similar.
If any of you have any recommendations, please let me have them.

I use GotoMeeting (http://gotomeeting.com) for online demonstrations and the like. You can get a free 30-day trial so that you can test it out for yourself. After that, it's $50 a month for any number of meetings (limited to 15 participants).
My advice is that no matter which conference system you choose, use a regular phone line for the audio portion. I have yet to see a successful web-based audio system work for more than 2 minutes...

Seeking a good quality Slide show application recommendation!

Need an audio editing application recommendation

I wasn’t sure where to post this question so this seemed like a reasonable fit.
I’m going to be using a voice recorded to do some interviews for my business. I want to then be able to take the recordings (typically resulting in an mp3 file) and then edit them, so be able to cut, move and splice segments. Then maybe do some basic cleanup and filtering and save for upload to a webpage where it becomes an information resource for our clients.
I’d also like the ability to import from and export to various file types. So, for example, export an MP3 into an AAC, or vice versa.
Doesn’t need to be anything fancy, but it needs to be easy to use and effective. Any recommendations?

I checked out Audacity and the reviews I read said it has some stability issues. I’m also not a fan of cross platform apps. They just never quite feel right to me. But the good news is my research then led me to find Amadeus Pro. Beautiful Mac app, only $40 and pretty full featured. Was able to start using it productively right away. So I'm good and your tip got me started so thanks again.

Running multiple User Profile Service Applications -- recommendations, pitfalls, etc.

I have a farm with one WFE, one APP, and one SQL server. The User Profile Service runs on both WFE and APP, the User Profile Sync Service is on the APP server. There is a single User Profile service application running that pulls from 4 different AD
import sources: two in the US, one in London, and one in Mexico.
There is a nightly incremental synch.
There is an issue where the London users need the synch to occur hourly.
There are some complexities with one of the US sources in that would make it difficult to run the current User Profile service hourly, plus there is a performance concern.
I'm interested in possibly creating a second User Profile Service Application that reads only from London and runs hourly.
Beyond creating the User Profile service and scheduling hourly, what should I be concerned about?
Will I need to (re)create new Audiences based on those from the original User Profile Service App? Run them immediately after User Profiles? Will there be an interruption in access during that gap?
Recreate custom User Properties?
Recreate any Forefront modifications?
New Profile/Sync/Social DBs?
etc?

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to use multiple user profile service application.
Yes, you can do it. Only one user profile application can be configured to work with the Profile Synchronization Instance. If you want more UPS instance, you need to start UPS on different server.

Using notepad application with lion

how can I access and update my old notepad documents now that I have lion installed?

Could someone please help?
I have Lion installed and am using Pages for my resumé, but when I go to save it as a .doc file, the option "save as ... " isn't there any longer. It's replaced by Duplicate and Save a Version.
How do I get Pages to allow me to save my document as a .doc file?

Yeah a poll would be good. I guess you could set up a poll within each category. Though this could turn out to be just like a small scale version of this so maybe just keep it as it is, unless enough arch users are inclined to vote.

Does the latest version of Firefox support Trusteer Rapport 3.6.1105.60? This is a recommended application by my bank.

The last time I downloaded the latest version it would not support the Trusteer Rapport application recommended by my bank to secure my password etc. information.

JWS application won't start

I'm having trouble getting by Java Web Start to work. I'm trying to follow along with this tutorial: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/webstart/deploying.html and I'm getting stuck at the point when the application is supposed to start. Instead, it gives me the error message:
"Unable to launch the application"
and under details --> Exception it says:

For some reason, it can't find the HelloWorldJFrame class.

}I know it works because I compiled it and ran it from a command prompt. It's just a simple GUI (JFrame) with a label that says "Hello World".

</html>The jar file was made (as instructed in the above tutorial) from the compiled file HelloWorldJFrame.class and possibly HelloWorldJFrame$1.class (though I have no idea what this last one is).
I've searched online for a solution to this problem to no avail. Does anyone see where I went wrong?

Actually, the problem was that I had to make the class files part of a package and to specify that package in the application-desc tag. The question that leaves me with is whether and how it's possible to do it without packaging.
I went back to unpackaging and tried your suggestion. There's some difficulty however as it is not running under a domain name, it's just sitting on my desktop. So I tried:
<jnlp spec="1.0+" codebase="C:\Documents and Settings\gibran.GIBCOMPUTER\Desktop\java\JavaWS\" href="helloworldgui.jnlp">
and variants thereof... none of which worked. It tells me:
The field <jnlp>codebase has an invalid value: C:\Documents...

Path of the application which is entered in Viewer option

Hi,
What is the path of the application that is entered in the viewer options. I basically want to see the applications that are available for the MIME types. Also is there a way by which we can add new applications.
Ex: Lets say I want to open the CP output directly in Notepad. Is there a way to achieve this. If notepad application is not there already is there a way to add the custom applications. Kindly let me know.
