Notes and reminder app not responding

Using Mountain lion and I cannot seem to get these two apps to work.  They sync and remind me etc just as you would expect.  The problem is when I try and click on either of them, to make a new / edit a note or reminder - nothing happens.  I click on them nothing.
When they appear through notify on the top right hand corner, I cannot close or snooze reminders.  Does any now what the issue could be?

Hi, tried this but still slow to respond.  Running an iMac i5 with 16Gb of RAM, shouldn't be an issue here I would think.
Quite annoying really, especially as you've forgotten the note or thing to be reminded about by the time is starts working again....

  • Calendar and reminder app problems with alerts

I’m new to iphone and i have a scenario i need some help with.  Suppose I schedule an event in my calendar for 8 pm tonight and set the reminder for 5 pm tonight.  Then I schedule a different event using the reminders app for 9 pm tonight and set the reminder for 6 pm tonight.  At this point I have 2 different events at different times using 2 different apps. I then power down my phone for 2 days. When I turn it back on, these 2 reminders do not “pop up” or work.  Is this how these 2 apps are supposed to work?  In other words, if you power off your phone during a period of time when reminders are set , you “lose” them?   If this is how they work (for better or for worse), does anyone know of a stand alone calendar/reminder/scheduling app that would work in this scenario?  I would also like to have the ability to set custom reminder time periods and custom snooze time periods.
Thanks for your time and help.

If you set the appointment and reminder for tonight, then turn the phone off for two days, why would a reminder for an event in the past pop up when you turn the phone back on? I can't think of an app that would give you reminders for things that have already happened. But, there are a lot of apps out there.
For an app that gives you more options, try Week Cal.

  • Apps "not responding" and general lag

More than ever it seems apps are freezing and then the message that the app "not responding" comes up and do we want to wait or close. Is there any fix ? Also, my phone still has lag which is possibly uncurable ?  Sony making no friends here - a kitkat upgrade would be welcome but isn't coming ! One thing I did do was disable Chrome and install CM browser for android - makes searching less painful and would recommend.

You could reinstall the latest update with PCC Keep in mind that apps are getting heavier and hardware demanding, chrome its known to have an issue at the moment, memory leak, and the Xperia SP has only 1GB of RAM not an ideal combination with this latest updates on apps.

  • Computer generally sluggish and apps quick to switch to "(not responding)"

I've had my Mac Pro since last June. I've been becoming steadily unhappy with it. It seems to be running slower and slower and yet I don't think I'm expecting any more from it than before (or even more than I did from my prior Mac, which was a much weaker computer).
The pattern is that I typically have a few programs running and sometimes I'm rendering in the background (i.e. modifying some audio in Audacity). iTunes, Safari and a few other programs will slow down--not a surprise--but way too often nowadays I get the pinwheel and in the Force Quit window these apps will say "(not responding)." After a few minutes, this passes.
I have to stress: I'm not doing anything any differently than I have for years. It just seems that my apps clench up at the drop of a hat. If I'm patient, it passes. But as we all know, to wait 3 or 4 minutes for the pinwheel to disappear is an eternity. (Also, for the money I've spent, it doesn't add up.)
Could I have a virus? Is there one that would give my Mac the computer version of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? What's the best software to diagnose something like that?
    Thanks!

I only suggest this from personal experience. If you have external hard drives connected, dismount and disconnect them. Did this help with the speed? If so, connect your hard drives one at a time and check that they are spinning up as they should. My computer was exhibiting the same symptoms as yours and I determined that the computer was waiting for the hard drive to spin up to speed so it could access it. The power supply for the external hard drive was only producing 9 instead of 12 volts and sometimes the drive would spin up (weakly) right away and sometimes not at all. Replacing the power supply cured the problem.
It is my theory, the hard drive being used for my time machine backups, had to spin up in excess of 10,500 times in 14 months just for time machine. And that doesn't include the times the hard spun up when the computer, for what ever reason, wanted access to it. Although, amazingly, the hard drive can handle all this cycling, I don't think the power supplies were designed for the current loads imposed on them by all this. Somebody suggested deselecting the "put hard drives to sleep when possible" check box in system prefs>energy saver and I found that this further improved the performance as the computer never has to wait for the hard drive to spin up so it can access it.
I hope this helps. If not I don't have any other ideas.

  • HT3226 my mail will just not open, when i try to open it it just gets stuck with the mail home page half open and when i click on the icon at the bottom it says app not responding, is there anything i can do myself or is this a trip to the Apple store?

My mail app will not open at all, it just gets stuck half open and then when i go to the icon below it says the app is not responding, is this something i can fix myself?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
    Quit Mail.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you'll have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Reminder app not working correctly, issue started around Sept. 1,2014. Will not allow me to set date and time for a reminder.

Today I noticed an issue with my Reminder app on my IPhone 5s. Using OS 7.1.2. I called Apple, and the tech didn't know what he was doing and just trying different things. The reminder app will not let me set a date and time for reminder. Finally he escalated the call to a senior advisor who was rude, arrogant and unprofessional. He insisted the Reminder App was updated with the new update of IOS September/October 2013. Not true, the issue just started about 5 days ago August 31,2014. Now there is an additional reminder line for reminder entries that I have to use and have to transfer all my reminders manually from the other part of the app. The feature does exist; if I try to set a date and time for the reminder it appears for 1-2 seconds and then disappears.
Has anyone else noticed this issue?

He insisted the Reminder App was updated with the new update of IOS September/October 2013. Not true
    Yes, it is true.
iOS 7 was released 18 Sep 2013. At this time, the Reminders app was updated (with most everything else).
the issue just started about 5 days ago August 31,2014.
Your issue just started but the app was not updated 5 days ago.
Now there is an additional reminder line for reminder entries that I have to use
I don’t understand what this means...
Open Reminders, type the reminder, tap the i at the end, turn on Remind me on a day and enter the date/time.

  • Reminder and Calendar app info not showing up in Today View

Both the reminders app and calendar app are showing up as empty, that is, they are not showing any information, in the Today View of the notification center, yet I have multiple reminder lists and calendars on my computer.  What's going on?  How do I select which lists/calendars show up in this section?
Thanks in advance for whatever help you can offer.

Ok. So to make things clearer....
I was able to undelete the yahoo [CICAL] service book so now both my emails are back into play.
After reading some more posts, this is the problem I'm having (sorry if I'm repeating stuff from my previous comment, I just wasn't sure if I made sense).
    Issues:
    * In the Today theme, my calendar entries are not showing up on the home screen
    * It looks like all my calendar entries went to the "Device Default" calendar setting
    * If I enter a new calendar entry, it says it's using my yahoo email address (which is what it was doing before) and now that entry will show up
    * However, ALL my calendar entries are under the "Device Default" so it would take forever to re input all my calendar entries so that it's posting under my Yahoo account
Any suggestions on what I should do? Is the only option to just wipe my entire calendar and reinput everything?
    Thanks!

My ipad has locked-up, it has frozen while running an app, and will not respond to any button,  what do I do?
It simply stays on the same screen image, and does not respond to anything.  When I plug it into itunes, there is no indication of its presence.
The ipad's clock has also stopped.

    Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo.

  • Purchased and downloaded an app.to IPhone 6, but it will not respond.

I purchased and downloaded an app to my IPhone and opened it, but it will not respond.

    @barbara251
Visit the Appstore and see app requirements, because I noticed you are running 6.1.2
If it supports, try re-installing the application and test.
I would delete the application with the steps below
settings>general>usage>manage storage>find the app and tap on it>delete the app>reboot the device>reinstall the desired app
If unsuccessful, contact the developer for further assitance
    Cheers

My notepad app is greyed out and is labelled waiting. It will not respond. No other apps appear to be waiting. I have tried rebooting to no avail. Any suggestions?

    Try this:
Log out of the iTunes Store on your device:
Settings>iTunes & App Store...tap your Apple ID, then select "Sign Out"
    Reset your device:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

The music app on my Iphone 5 is acting up, it keeps skipping  songs and wont allow the to play. You can see the music icon the on notification bar play and pause. When i go back to the app is states the url is not responding. I have restored it from the backed up cloud save. It is the music app, I played music on pandora and it worked fine. I think it must be the app or the ios.

restore with itunes not from an itunes backup or cloud save they do absolutely nothing only a clean restore will solve your problem

My IPAD 2 is freezing on the principal internet access page.  It comes up through a light grey filter and does not respond to any touch or keys.  All other internet dependent functions seem to be working fine (mail, various APPs).  How do I "unfreeze"?

Go to Settings-Safari and Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data.
Another thing you can try is to double-click the Home button.  A row of recent Apps will line up along the bottom of the screen.  Scroll across and find the Safari icon.  Press on it for a couple of seconds until it starts to wiggle.  A red minus sign will appear on each icon.  Press on Safari's minus sign to remove it.  This may clear its memory of the bad Google page.
If this does not help, try resetting (rebooting) the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

    You might start with:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
If the above reveals nothing helpful, then create a new user account. Log out of your account and log into the new account. Do the problems cease?
