Notes app not opening correctly

Notes in Mountain Lion..When I open the new Notes app in iCloud the appearance of the app is not the
3-paned window as described in all of the articles I have read...it does not have a pane showing the accounts..how do I get that to display ?
I want to take advantage of the new "folders" feature in the Notes app, but have no way to do so..
Also Notes that I change or delete on iCloud are not syncing to the iPhone or iPad ..and since there is no way to sync among the 3 devices now
thru iTunes is there something in settings that needs to be changed ?
Thank you for your help

Thank you..I appreciate it...
I am now able to sync my Notes among all 3 devices..
However I still cannot open the Notes app via iCloud to show the 3 window panes as described in all the
articles I have read about the new Notes iCloud app..

Irrelevant if you cut and paste the content of the note into an email.

  • HT1338 how come I cant get my notes app to open?

When ever I try and open the notes app in the launchpad a window pops up and a whole bunch of numbers come up and it says EXC_BAD_ACCESS. or something like EXC_I386_GPFLT, what do I do now?

Game Centre is not compatible with the iPhone 3G (compatible devices are listed here http://www.apple.com/game-center/) - I'm not sure whether a reason why was ever given (maybe it wasn't deemed 'powerful' enough).

  • IPad Notes App. not syncing with iMac

I just set up my new iMac and began to sync my iPad (3rd Gen.) to the iMac over the iCloud with WiFi enabled.  Seems like everything syncs except for the Notes App. on the iPad.  When I open Notes on my iMac, I see "updating" listed on the title bar of Notes but nothing happens.  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I was having the same problem with Notes not syncing. I also got duplicate notes. I found that spryt's solution fixed my syncing problem and signing in and out of icloud on my local devices finally fixed the duplicating notes problem. I am not using a networked home directory. Using Mavericks OS and believe the problem started with the upgrade.
I did notice one peculiarity: on my iMac, it shows that I'm syncing notes to "All [email protected]". However, on my Macbook Pro, Notes shows I'm syncing to "All icloud". I tried to change my iMac to "All icloud", but I can't seem to find that preference. I hope they are one and the same.
Syncing is almost instantaneous across devices including iphone and ipad now. If I find that I encounter any more problems, I'll update this thread.

  • Notes app not holding changes since new iOS4 update for 3GS

I didn't notice it right after the update, but I've noticed that recently my Notes app (the one that came on the iPhone) isn't working correctly. I use this app for a ton of things, & it's VERY frustrating for it to not work. So I've got a note I've been trying to update, & when I make a change, it doesn't stick. It completely goes away, as if I never made any changes. But this problem seems to be random, because as far as I can tell, another note of mine seems to be letting me make changes. SOMEONE PLZ HELP!!!

Is there a way to get the notes that were created in my email acct folders into my iPhone folder? I didn't even realize I had these different folders until a few notes after the update. How does it even determine which folder it saves a new note into anyways?!?! Well thank you for your reply. I think this will solve my initial problem. Now to just figure out how to get all my notes into my iPhone folder for notes. sigh ...

  • Notes app not syncing properly

I have Yosemite on a Macbook Pro and an iPhone with iOS 8.1 installed.
My notes are on my iPhone and on iCloud.com
My notes are in the Notes app on my mac too, however, many of them are blank. The list of notes is correct and complete, but when clicking on the notes, many are blank.
I have signed in and out of iCloud multiple times on all devices and have specifically turned on and off syncing for Notes in iCloud settings many times.
Syncing seems to work fine with new notes created on either my phone or Mac and edits work.
EDIT: I realized I could try adding a space on my iPhone to each note that showed as blank on my Mac to initiate a sync. Sure enough, the notes successfully updated and were no longer blank. I had under 10 notes, so it wasn't a big deal, but I am posting this nevertheless as a bug report for Apple.

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • Notes App note being backed up by Time Machine.

I'm having issues with the new Notes application in Mountain Lion not being backed up by Time Machine. If it is being backed up then the new OS is keeping me from accessing the time stamps or backups. Normally I could just open up an application and enter into the time machine to find the stored local time stamps but the Notes screen minimizes and the finder window opens automatically keeping me from accessing stored backup of the new Notes app. Is anyone having this same issue?

Thanks a million for your assistance.
I did disconnect first the Mac from Internet and restored the contents of ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes/Data/Library/Notes directory. It worked like a charm as I could see again all my previous notes listed in the main window of Notes app.
The hiccup is that it only lists Icloud folders and I can't seem to find a way to create 'On My Mac' folders so that I can copy them to a local folder. The moment I turn internet on, there are automatically deleted as you rightly suspected. If I only wanted to restore them and have them on Icloud that would be just fine. In my case, I want them away from Icloud and only stored locally hence the initial decision to untick the sync with Icloud which triggered the whole havoc...we are getting close though...

  • Notes app not working properly on 3GS after 4.2.1 update

The Notes app no longer works properly on iPhone 3GS after update to iOS 4.2.1 the other day.
Now when in Notes app, found that I went into a Note, edited it and then couldn't leave it - the navigation has disappeared, so cant get out of the note back to the list. Only way out of the note is to press the Home button and exit Notes.

Wow...I also just noticed I have songs that also are not showing up. Should I just do a restore?

  • Mavericks Notes App not syncing with iCloud

The notes.app stopped syncing with iCloud after installation of Mavericks for users with networked home folders.  Was previously working properly with Mountain Lion.
Notes syncing is enabled in icloud preferences.
Signing out of icloud and signing back in does not fix the problem.
Unselecting the notes checkbox and re-selecting has erratic effects->a)  sometimes crashing the notes.app unrecoverably (app won't reopen after force quite).  b) sometimes crashing the icloud system preferences altogether.
All other icloud apps work fine: contacts, calendar, reminders, etc.   (all except icloud documents which is greyed out for users with networked home folders see: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23544576?ac_cid=tw123456#23544576 )
Any fixes or work-arounds?  We use our notes app extensively and this is really debilitating.

I was having the same problem with Notes not syncing. I also got duplicate notes. I found that spryt's solution fixed my syncing problem and signing in and out of icloud on my local devices finally fixed the duplicating notes problem. I am not using a networked home directory. • Unable to locate or sync "Notes" app. . "Notes" app. not found at Itunes app store

I'm unable to locate the "Notes" app in my desktop iTunes App folder, however  the "Notes" app is found on my iPhone and iPad ? Why am I unable to locate the "Notes" app at my desktop iTunes App folder.  How can I sync the "Notes" entry information from my iPhone and iPad to my Desktop iTunes acct if the "Notes" icon is missing?. When I tried to locate the "Notes" app at the iTunes app store, I was unable to discover an identical "Notes" app icon. The "Notes" app displayed at the Apple Apps store is visually different and the description isn't a match. My "Notes" icon appears as "yellow ruled paper with a brown binding at top, labeled as "Notes".

Notes is an app that is has been included in iOS for some time if not day one. Apps included in iOS do not appear in iTunes or the Store since they are included with the iOS software. Notes syncs up with the Notes feature in Mail on the Mac. Syncing is turned on through the iPhone/iPads sync settings Info tab in the Other box.

  • Notes app not displaying iCloud account at all

Anyone else experiencing this issue?  I only use iCloud account for Notes and confirmed that the Notes option is enabled in both Preferences/iCloud and Preferences/Internet Accounts/iCloud.  I've toggled Notes ON for my other Internet Accounts such as Yahoo! and Exchange accounts and restart Notes and see them at least appear on the left pane in Notes application.  I cannot seem to get my iCloud Notes to appear though.  I've even deleted the iCloud account and readded it, no luck.
    Any hints?
    Thanks!

    I resolved this by
Deleting all copies of com.apple.notes apart from the help files.
    Repairing the disk permissions
switching on notes on my iphone and in mail accounts
    restarted macbook
    launched mail app
    launched notes app.
This brought in all my notes which are synced with my iphone.

  • Notes App not connected to Gmail any more

    Hi,
During a short while, the iphone's Notes App was linked to Gmail, creating an email with the label "Notes" every time you entered a Note on you iphone and vice-versa.
Does anyone know why it stopped?
Is there a way to get it back? Ask it back?
    This was REALLY useful!
    YThanks a lot,
    gus.

Go to Settings, Notes, and reset the Default Account to Gmail - that ought to fix it

  • Notes app not recognising mail account with notes (SL upgrade to ML)

I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion but all my notes disappeared. I researched this online and realised that now Notes is a separate app. I looked in it but the notes are not there.
I researched futher online and it appears that the email account setup in system preferences needs to have the notes box ticked. I checked this but there is not a note box against the email address. see screen capture below.
this is a POP mail account and presumably the account that all my notes are associated with.
I found the notes.mbox file in my SL backup and imported this into email so I have a copy of the notes but I can't edit any of them.
Any ideas - what I need to do to resolve this.
    thanks.

  • Notes app not syncing

since installing lion, the notes app no longer syncs. i can have the sync button ticked - by which i am told that notes will be duplicated - or not ticked, makes no difference.
syncing over the air isn't happening either (network is running fine), although it must have worked once since an ipad note appeared in mail on the macbook.
    grateful for any pointers.
