Notes can not be enabled

can not enable icloud notes in system prefs running mountain lion, although it works on iphone and ipad. suddenly stopped working and we can't figure out why.

I loged out of Icloud on my mac pro ( now Im asking why) then loged back in and Im haveing the same problem with Notes and Mail. (so I set up mail manuly dont no what to do about Notes thow.

I've got some problems with the setup of iCloud notes on my Macbook Pro. My iPad & iPhone are syncing, but I'm getting a message on my Mac.
The message that I get: "Notes can not currently be enabled" (see screen http://rido.me/l0p1, it's in Dutch).
I've tried the method that I read on the forum (disable & enable iCloud on my iDevices), but that doesn't work.
How can I fix this problem?

Now this I can't quite believe. (edit: also it would be of no use posting here, if you'd "tried everything", as nobody can suggest more than that)
So you've:
re-installed ML,
checked in a different user account that the problem exists there too,
and finally
wiped the drive and installed ML

In version 4.2 on the controller SSLv2 is disabled by default. IE by default doesn't do SSLv3. Either enable SSLv2 on the controller or SSLv3 on the client.

I have yet to resolve this issue. iPhone 4S works fine with iCloud.
Thus far I have done the following.
- reinstalled OS; basically an archive an install from the bootup menu.
- pram reset
- smc reset (power cycle)
- single user mode
- repaired disk and permissions in disk utility
- trashing system preferences plist from user library & cache folders from system and user libraries; rebooting then emptying the trash
- changing icloud password; then updated everywhere it was used
- opened ports on router; 993,480, 143, & 80; network is WPA with 10 digit numerical passphrase, no firewalls or antivirus on router
- removing and readding iCloud account to mail application
- mail also doesn't work and never has with my icloud account. I know it is a separate issue but mail connection doctor prompts:
"could not connect to this iCloud IMAP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. if is does not, deselect "Use SSL" checkbox in teh Advanced tab of Account preferences"
*Needs to be 'imap.mail.me.com" No matter how many times I remove or re-add the iCloud account, mail will prompt needs an incoming mail server. It will not let me put it in there, just has a 'mail.example.com'
On 10.6.8 I used to be able to move mailboxes to desktop, delete everything in mail folder, reboot, put back mail boxes and everything so as to really reset the mail application, but ML looks like it has disabled that as a troubleshooting feature... *but I guess the resintallation of of ML does the same..
The only logical explaination I can think of which would be in congruence with the mail issue, is that iCloud has messed up the location of where my all data is on the server... and there is not a way to fix it. I'm considering creating a whole new Apple ID but that is my last resort.

Thank you for the reply. I am on a home network. ISP is centurylink DSL service located in midwest, so USA. WPA security type with 10 digit numerical password. I verified IMAP does work on my network, my gmail account adds perfectly fine in mail on the mac. I also checked that there is not a proxy server setup. *this has been occuring in all 3 of the places I have lived in the past 5 years or so, no matter the ISP.
What is really bizarre is my iphone 4s works fine with everything. Notes sync with icloud. Mail syncs with my icloud and gmail accounts fine. The iphone is also connecting to the same wireless network. Another thing, my iphone works with a hotmail account too, which is POP (dang microsoft), but I wonder why apple won't let it work on mail on the macs.

Since I updated to OSX I have problem with mail and notes. Mail is very slow and I can't sync Notes. I see them on Icloud and on iPhone but not on my iMac.

Notes doesn't work for me either for a while, I am sure it is an iCloud problem that Apple is getting fixed. Notice that the iCloud.com website doesn't include Notes while the beta website does.

Was working now not, Can not boot any more system error

I've got a Summer 2001 Snow iMac that was working under 10.3.9 but my attempt to back date has failed and now only get the classic OS 9 folder with a question mark which means can't find system files. It all started when I selected a OS 9.0.4 folder using the startup pref in 10.3.9 and now can't get it to do any thing. I have tried every thing I know but can't get it to boot up from the OS 9.0.4 or a 9.1 cd nor back to 10.3.9, not even holding down the option key works. The only thing I have are the two OS 9 disc, is there any thing I can do? I can get it to boot to the firmware mode but don't know any commands. PLease help.

A +Summer 2001+ iMac G3 cannot boot Mac OS 9.0.4. It came pre-installed with 9.1.

Macs can generally boot a version of Mac OS that it came with, or LATER (up to hardware limitations), but NOT earlier. 9.0.4 is earlier than 9.1.
Try resetting PRAM.

The startup disk setting is stored in PRAM. Resetting PRAM should clear the current setting and use a default choice (which hopefully will boot 10.3.9).
If that does not work, restart holding down the X key. That should force a restart with the installed Mac OS X system. If you get it to restart properly, trash that 9.0.4 system.

Can not load any power point files, the Microsoft version will not work as well only open systems works

After upgrading to 10.8.3 I cannot load files into keynote, the apllication will freze about 75% of the load. My Microsoft Power Point application will load them but the when I try to play the presentation it will freeze. Only OpenSystems will load them and then play them with no problem. If the SIM is out of your phone, find my phone needs a data connection, so could use wifi - IF in range of a wifi and one that it can join (ie. a known network or one that is wholly open so no login required). Your phone could also simple be turned off, so not findable, or it may have been restored (plugged into iTunes and restored as new) again, making it permanently unfindable. Honestly, for someone stealing an iPhone, this is likely the first thing they do - restore as new and it is theirs forever.
Find my iPhone is tied to the users iCloud account - the find function is part of the iCloud account's services and it communicates with the iCloud servers over a data connection - either wifi or 3G.
Have you set up your iCloud account on your replacement phone, and is it working properly on that phone?

What OS are you running.. this is usually only a problem in Mavericks.
If so I recommend you mount the hard disk manually..
Use Go, Connect to server.
Type in the IP address if static.. eg
AFP://10.0.1.1
Or the name.. but you will have issues unless the name is short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. if you are using bad names.. fix it by a full factory reset in airport utility and give it all names that comply to the above.
Type in
AFP://TCname.local Where TCname is replaced with the actual name.
You will be asked for the password the first time which is public unless you changed it.. please remember to save this in the keychain.
Copy files then to a new directory you create on the TC.. do not place files inside the TM sparsebundle. Nor directly under the main directory.

Can not "Enable disk use" on second computer

We have two computers. One was our main system (and had all my downloaded music) and a newer laptop with nothing but loaded CD's.
I am now attempting to transfer everything onto my laptop, (This is my primary computer.) but when I select "Options" the "Enable Disk Use" is checked but greyed out and can not be accessed.
Everything else works fine. The outlook syncs up and I can organize music. I just can't utilize the disk.
Any advise?

I can relate...sort of! My iTunes doesn't even HAVE that option. Can you believe it??? It's a brand new (although outdated) 40gb HP iPod, and I'm running HP version of iTunes 6. The manual says how I should enable (configure) the iTunes for use as hard disk--but it failed to tell me that no freaking icon would appear in that little corner. FRUSTRATED

More than likely its a hardware issue, I have never encountered such a problem and best bet is to just go get it replaced. If you have insurance on your device apple will replace it as long as there was no water damage, if you dont have insurance they will charge $200 more or less. Hope you get it fixed

I think this is the problem. .hackers is no valid cookie domain. You have to use something like:
.xy.ab
(two points)
I fear it is not possible to correct this easiely. First change the hostname to something allowed e.g. hackers.com
Then open an ldap browser and edit ou=iplanetamplatformservice,ou=services,dc=hackers
There is an entry with an xml. Copy the xml to an editor, search for .hackers, change it to a valid domainname.
Im not sure if a restart of the webserver is necessary here.
Another idea: You could also try to set the cookie domain to solnce.hackers, maybe this is accepted, even if it is not a cookie domain. But I dont know if this works...
