Notes on iCloud

i recently upgraded to mountain lion
now my notes are not syncing to iCloud
-it only shows updating at the top of the app and it's not being pushed to my iPad
-Notes on iPad and iMac iCloud are both on and i already tried to toggle them off and then on again

I have the same issue and am also hoping to find a solution to get my old notes stored on my iphone up onto icloud. I have over 380 notes, too many to email one by one. Hopefully Apple get this sorted and don't leave us stranded. If I had known the default Apple Notes app would be this hard to sync I would never have started using it. I know they have options for those with a Mac or those with a PC with Outlook... But what about the rest of us, the bulk of us who are on a PC and don't have Outlook? I thought that iOS5 was billed to be PC free?! I guess its not quite there yet eh, especially if you need to own a Mac or a PC with Outlook on it to be able to get your flamin notes off your flamin iPhone... Sheesh!

You are getting this message because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC by signing with your Apple ID. You can only sign into an existing account on a PC. You first have to create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher. After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using this ID on your PC.

It is not possible to create a new iCloud account using a Windows machine. You must create the account using a Mac (10.7.5 or more) or an IOS device (iPhone etc). Once that is done you can sign into and use the account on your Windows machine.

In addition to what's mentioned in the article, if you have lots of photos and videos attached to your text messages, these are all included in your iCloud backup and deleting them can sometimes significantly reduce the size of your backup.
If worse comes to worse, back up your phone to your computer rather than iCloud. To do this, connect it to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Back Up and to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases. This can be used to restore your data when you get your phone back. Usually if it says your Apple ID is not an iCloud account, that means you have not yet enabled your Apple ID as an iCloud account. So you did set it up correctly on your iPod touch?
If not yet, please see Set up iCloud on all your devices.

These types of messages often indicate a problem with the devices serial number, have you had your phone repaired at any stage or did you buy it second-hand.

You may only sign up for an iCloud account via one of the following systems or devices.
You can sign up for iCloud on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or through System Preferences on a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later. Just follow the setup instructions for your iOS device or Mac.

Music purchased from the iTunes Store is automatically available in iCloud. This is "iTunes in the Cloud" and does not require an iCloud account. The music is stored in the iTunes Store, not in a personal iCloud account.
If you don't have any Apple devices you will not be able to create an account. It wouldn't be any value to you anyway as it syncs data on you computer with your Apple devices. If you don't have any, there is nothing to sync.

Go to the 'Go' menu in the Finder and hold down the option key to reveal the Library. Then navigate to library > preferences > system configuration and drag the 'Networkinterfaces.plist' file to the trash and restart for mac. Now try again.

If you have not already created an iCloud account elsewhere you cannot do so on PC, and that is the error message you will get. You can create an iCloud account on a Mac or an iOS device and then you should be able to sign into it in the iCloud Control Panel in Windows.
