Notes problem after Mavericks upgrade

Notes will not sync after Mavericks upgrade, other apps - mail & contacts & calendar do sync

First check that all your settings are correct, that notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the notes you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone'  or other non iCloud account (you can do this by checking in accounts on an iOS device, or the left side panel in mail on a computer), non iCloud notes will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your notes are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling notes syncing.

Why is Time machine backup not working after Mavericks upgrade?

I had the same problem due to the Fire Wire port.  Apple tested it told me it is OK!, I tried a new cable, and have tested both ports on my back up device.  I find it strange that as soon as I installed Mavericks.  The drive does work using USB.  It could be a coincidence, I don't absolutely know at this point, my back up drive ports could stop working, but I doubt it!

    Hey there sarunelis,
It sounds like after updating to 10.9 the zoom function is not functioning at all. It sounds like you may need to check for 3rd party plugins. This article will help you check for that.

  • Problems after Mavericks upgrade

A few days ago, I installed the latest Mavericks upgrade.  I now cannot access the app store, which opens but doesn't show any icons or information - the pages are just blank.  Safari is also not working properly - it won't recognise the certificates from any secure sites, including this forum.  Facebook won't load properly, it only shows the bare html page.  I've tried restoring the system from a previous backup, but this doesn't work.  Can anyone help?

    Hi everyone,
    i have a solution!
well at least that worked for me.
It is nothing like a bug or software problem. It is just that after mavericks install for some reason i found a change in my Preview app preferences. So i set it correctly and now everything is back and working correctly.
Go to the Preview Preferences, then choose the "Images" section/tab, then choose "Size on screen equals size on printout" option, and thats it!
Try this out and I hope this works for you too!

  • Preview app retina resolution problems after Mavericks upgrade

    Hi everyone!
after upgrading from Mountain Lion to Mavericks, the Preview app (Version 7.0) stops working in Retina resolution.
For instance, a 2500pix graphics now does not fit in the monitor (2880x1800 pix native resolution) when displayed at actual size, i.e. 1 image pixel per 1 screen pixel. It is rendered at twice as low resolution.
As with the previous os x mountain lion, in Mavericks too I am using "Best (Retina)" screen resolution mode in the Display Preferences.
Any idea how to resolve this?
actually, I belive this is some sort of bug of the Preview app.
Is there anyone else having the same issue? If yes, please reply to this

  • Microsoft Word 2011 not working after Mavericks upgrade?

After my upgrade to OS X Mavericks yesterday, my Microsoft Office Word 2011 program has not been working properly. After a short while of being open in the background while using other applications, it stops responding and causes the whole computer to act extremely slow. It causes me to Force Quit the application. What can I do to fix this? It never did this before.

You were not using Mavaricks before either.
You will need to contact Microsoft for Mac Support  and/or post in their forums.

  • Imac not responding after mavericks upgrade- black screen

Ever since I upgraded to Mavericks 2-3 weeks ago ....if I leave my mac for a while and then try to wake it up with a touch of mouse or keyboard, the screen remains black. The mac is still on as its warm .The only way to recover this is to :
    1. Pull out the plug - gives fresh reboot
    2. Keep the start button pressed for approx 5-10 secs, then press it again and the mac powers up...to the state it was when left ie not a fresh reboot.
This is very annoying , has my wife yelling at me and no longer gives us the instant access from sleep we used to have ...
    Any help appreciated !
    Thanks Jon.
I have a 27" iMac from August 2010 (ie v soon after CPU upgrade) , core i3 processor

OK I appear to have fixed this ...after the Mavericks upgrade the screensaver was reset to loading photo's from "national geographic" which it did after a few mins...i have changed this to another option photo's of earch/space etc..now i can wake the imac from sleep immediately as before ....so now fixed !

  • Most of the default Mac Apps does not work after Mavericks Upgrade

Hi, I did everything, but nothing has brought me out of this misery .
I Updated Maverick just 2 days after its release. Had no problems, other then slow Finder. I restarted my iMac last week, and got caught with these issues, known to me, not sure what all bugs are there.
All these apps does not work: App Store, TextEdit, Preview, Terminal, iBooks, Maps, Calendar, Contacts, Mail, etc
I do not know how to do a clean install, as I had upgraded from Snow Leopord to Mountain Lion and to Maverick using App Store, which does not open at all.
Hoping to get some response soon from Apple support team to help me.

  • ICal update problem after Maverick upgrade

When trying to sign out of ICloud, I receive the message "If you stop using ICloud for Calendars, Calendars stored in ICloud will be deleted from this Mac". However I have checked the box for Calendars. If I hit "Cancel" (because I want to use ICloud for Calnders) it won't let me sign out. If I hit "Delete from Mac" it then sends a message that indicates that it doesn't recognise the next checked box. In essence, ICLoud isn't recognising any of mt checked boxes. I have had a problem with insufficent storage on ICloud however I've cleaned up the Mail files and now have 4 GB out of 5GB available and I have just upgraded to Maverick.

Yes.  Your computer and devices will keep a local copy of your iCloud data so you can access it when you're not connected to the internet.  If you make any changes to the data while you are offline, the changes will update iCloud and your other devices when your device goes back online.

  • Applications not responding after Mavericks upgrade

Just upgraded an IMac-2009 of a friend from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and faced Mail & Contacts not responding (spinning ball).
May be there coud be addtl applications not responding but i only checked the major ones and those 2 causes problems.
I just asked him to re-install OS-X (01:40) and i will see (am living far from him)
I have also read a lot of communities questions and have some lines of thinking like preferences & permissions.
    2 questions :
    1) Some ideas to help me
    2) is there a way to manage his IMac from home (I have a MacBookPro using Mavericks)
    Thank you in advance
    Best regards

    Hi,
Thanks for everything you provided to me : it helped me a lot.
The last status is (for info)
    - i decided to re-install Mavericks (for the 3rd time !!!) as the upgrade was so badly installed and i was surprised to see that this time, the re-installation shows "complements modules to re-install" (translated from french) with a schedule of 01:02 (against 01:40 before)
    - and apparently my friend called me later to say : everything is working fine. He recovered all applications.
Strange but I am happy by now.
    Thank you again

  • Mac Mail not working after Mavericks upgrade

After successfully updating to Mavericks, Mac Mail app does not launch (window does not appear on screen) and requires force quit to stop. I also have Outlook loaded and it started up and works fine.  I would rather use Mail. Anyone else have this issue?  Is there any easy fix?  The app doesn't launch completely so I can't clear any of the accounts to try to start Mail fresh.

Here's my issue and how I fixed it. If you have this problem then try what I did.
When I lauched Mail, it appeared like it opened but then wouldn't display any windows at all and wouldn't
update my mail count on the icon.
Within mail there is options to display. The setting was set to "assign to none". That makes mail appears as though it is not working and seemed to bottleneck how mail operates.
In the dock - click and hold on Mail - open Options and chose the display you wish to assign the window to display
    mail.
    Hope this helps.

  • Wi-Fi not working after mavericks upgrade

I just upgraded to Mavericks and get the following message in network diagnostics:
Wi-Fi has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.82.167 and will not be able to connect to the Internet.
I am not very technical and don't understand wheter this is the IP address of the computer or my router or what and why it is a problem. Has anyone seen this and do you know how to fix it?
I have two wifi networks in the house and cannot connect to either one. One is on an airport. The other is on a comcast modem, router. They both yield the same message. Help! Please!

Download and run the combo updater to refresh your files, then try to connect.
OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 (Update (Combo)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1746
System Preferences > Network > Select you internet service (be it Airport, Ethernet etc) then click advanced tab > Select  DNS and enter the settings
Add 8.8.8.8 if you are unable to connect. This is Google's server settings.
Let us know if this helps. We can do further work on your DNS settings.

  • Back mouse gesture not working after Mavericks upgrade

    Just upgraded to Mavericks.
No matter what website I'm on and no matter how many pages deep I'm in, the "one finger swipe" to go back a page is not working.  It's acting like there are no other pages to go back to.  However, when I click on the back arrow, it goes back like normal.
    Anyone else have this problem?
    Anyone else find a fix?

    Found the solution.
Somehow during the upgrade, this gesture gets turned off in System Preferences.  Go there, to Mouse, turn it back on.  Back to normal!

  • Printers and Scanners preference pane does not work after Mavericks upgrade

I upgraded to Mavericks on my late 2011 MacBook Pro, and my printers and scanners preference pane stopped working. Sometimes it comes back as an error and wont open, other times it opens but the list of printers is obscured and not really showing, and it does not react normally. I tried reinstalling from System Restore with the onlie version, but that just took 6 hours but did not really help. I am going a little crazy as I cant get my Canon MX330 scanner installed and recognized. Does anyone have any ideas for me please??

I'm assuming that you're referring to the Printers & Scanners in System Preferences (not a preference pane, which is a different animal).
While I haven't experienced your issue, one thing that users find helpful is to go to System Preferences/Printers & Scanners/, and delete the printers listed by tapping on - (minus). Then, reenter the information when it's required later.
