Notes section in iPod

I've been trying to put some files in the notes for my iPod but every time I do it, weird letters and numbers show up instead of the file. Does anyone know how to do it correctly??
Thanks!!

1 - Ok, to put notes onto your nano, you'll first need to enable it for disk mode. When it's plugged in, go into iTunes, and open up iPod preferences. Check the "Enable disk use" box.
2 - In your Windoze file browser (what you click on files in), locate your iPod, which should be located in My Computer. Open that up, and locate the notes folder. That is where you can put any notes, in the form of text files, that you want.
3 - Make the notes. iPods only recognize plain text and html files. So, when you open the text file up in a word processor, make sure to save it as a plain text file (.txt extension). Then, just drag it onto your iPod.
In disk mode, your iPod will need to be ejected before you unplug it from your computer. Right click on it (in your My Computer folder) and click "Eject"

I am running Windows 8. Although my contacts and notes from my Ipod touch  show up on icloud my calendar entries do not show up even though they do show up in my Google calendar and my windows phone calendar. Any suggestions not already covered in trouble shooting articles?

As I mentioned earlier, you have to decide which calendar you want to use.  You can either use Google or iCloud, but not both.
If you want to use your iCloud calendar, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Calendar section) and set this to your iCloud calendar.  After doing so, all new events you add to your calendar will be added by default to your iCloud calendar, and as a result, will appear on icloud.com and your computer (if it is syncing calendars with your iCloud account).
If, on the other hand, you want to use your Google calendar (as it sounds like you are doing with your iPod), simply add the same Google calendar to your phone and your computer.

  • ITunes does not detect my ipod

Much to my chagrin I made the mistake of upgrading Windows Vista to Windows 7. Then I d/l the latest version of iTunes and now iTunes can not detect my iPod. I receive the message "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install iPod's software."
I have completely unistalled iTunes numerous times and then ran into issues attempting to reinstall. I attempted to change the registry key which did not work so had to install Windows 7 again to fix issues.
When I run the iTunes diagnostics it tells me I have 2 issues:
    1. iTunes Helper is not running
    2. No iPhone or iPod found
I have attempted all the suggestions that come up in the help section for "iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes". I am hoping that someone out there can help me. I am going insane trying to fix this issue and am cursing myself for jumping on the Windows 7 bandwagon. At least I had all the Windows Vista issues figured out and my computer actually worked.

    Does anyone have any ideas????

  • ITunes 7 not recognizing my ipod - RESOLVED!

    Good news, gals and guys!
It appears that I managed to solve my problem of iTunes 7 not seeing my iPod Nano.
I went through all the support steps but had no success in fixing the issue.
I decided that even though Appled did release a beta version of iTunes to the public, the COULD NOT have screwed up so badly as to release something completely unusable so I decided that the trouble must be with my system.
I went to the Services section in Windows and enabled all of the windows services that were previously disabled (yeah, I know that enabling anything in windoze above and beyond what's necessary just to boot the thing is a recipe for disaster but hang on) so I enabled every disabled service by setting its status from DISABLED to MANUAL and rebooted windows.
After reboot, I connected my iPod and voila, it appeared in itunes. synced the iPod, disconnected from the laptop, closed itunes, reconnected and repeated several times and every time I did it, the 'pod was recognised just fine.
Now, I have to investigate which services iPodService relies on (it claims to rely only on RPC but that's clearly not true because that one has always been active on my machine). It will take a lot of reboots and flipping before I nail it down to only the necessary stuff but I thought I'd share the news with the crowd here because I'm quite possibly the first person on the net who went from having it not working to having it fully working properly.
For those who want to try it out, go to Start->Settings->ControlPanel->Administrative Tools->Services. Sor the list by "Startup Type" then right click each service with the startup type "Disabled" and set it to Manual (right-click, properties, change to Manual, hit OK). Once you've enabled all of the disabled ones, reboot windows and try your iPod, iTunes combo.
Good luck and let the forum know how you made out.

I got a couple of confirmations from a crossposted thread that this indeed fix the issue for some users. If you read the message above and it DOES fix the problem for you, be nice and come back to this thread and confirm your success. Thanks.

  • Notes On The iPod

If I have Notes on my iPod Touch I want to save, how can I transfer the notes to my Mac & View them on My Computer? I think the notes are what count as my 'Other' filling of my Giga-Bites!

To view the notes on your mac, you need to have the email and notes portion of iCloud activated.  After you enter the Mail app on your Mac, there should be a notes section on the left side.

  • HT1567 My computer is not recognizing my iPod NanoPod - therefore the 'Devices' is not showing up on the Left side in order to sync Playlists to my Nano Pod?  What can I do about this please?

    Hi
My computer is not recognizing my iPod NanoPod - and as a result 'The Devices' section is not showing up in order to sync new Playlists to my Nano-Pod.  Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?
    How to reset iPod
Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • ITunes could not restore the iPod . . . because an error occurred

I recently upgraded my iPod Touch (3rd Generation) to iOS 4. I an effort to enable the hardware encryption functionality of the device, I followed Apple's instructions to backup the iPod, erase it to factory settings (using the "Restore" button on the status pane of the iPod section of iTunes and attempt to restore from the backup I just made. Unfortunately, the restore now fails 100% of the time with the error "iTunes could not restore the iPod [iPod name] because an error occurred." There are no error numbers listed.
Any assistance anyone can provide would be much appreciated. A decent chunk of data that was local to my device now seems to be missing.

I had this exact problem, just as described by the original poster. I went to the Apple store, but the Genius Bar was totally unable to help. I am glad I went, however, in that they did have a possible explanation, which was as alarming as it was unexpected: the backup files are probably corrupt (in my case, perhaps by an (unwanted) simultaneous iOS upgrade to 4.02?). Apple had no solution, but the only choice I can see is restoring a previous, good version of the backup image to your computer, and then trying the restore again. Hopefully you have Time Machine or something similar--for once in my life, I am prepared. The files in question are located in different places on Mac and PC. See:
    http://forums.macnn.com/103/ipod-iphone-and-ipad/355013/iphone-backup-file-locat ion/)
Restore the entire folder, just to be safe. iTunes now accepts the backup and seems to be working normally. It has reset, and the full restore is in process. I won't know for a few hours if my all app data is intact, so I'll have to report back.
PS: Do to some panicky monkeying around earlier in the day, I also had to restore earlier versions of these 3 files to make it work, as iTunes was no longer recognizing the old image files as belonging to my iPod. I'm not sure which one is truly responsible for the confusion.

  • I tunes could not contact the ipod software update server

Hello all,  I am running a Dell laptop running windows 7 professional with mobile broadband.  I have the latest i Tunes software installed.  I have a ipod touch that I am trying to update the software but keep getting the same error.  i tunes could not contact the ipod software update server because you are not connected to the internet.
I have seen many potential solutions and have tried them all.  What can I do to remedy this situation?

    Thank you Illaass
None of the suggestions in your link fixed my problem.  HOWEVER, I did find something that did!  I used the network diagnostic tool in i Tunes.  It was not recongizing the internet connection.  It offered some solutions, which include the ones at the link you provided plus a few more.  The fix seemed to be to de-select the option "check for server certificate revocation*" in internet options -> advanced -> scroll down to the "Security" section, 5th item in the list.  I am not a computer guy and I'm not sure why this worked, but it was a suggestion from i Tunes network diagnostics.  Hope this helps someone else.

  • Can Mail sync notes from multiple ipods?

Can the Mail app in Leopard sync seperate notes from the Notes app on two different iPod touches?  In other words will it keep track of notes created on iPod #1 seperately from notes created on iPod #2?  I don't want to hit that 'sync' button on iPod #2 until I'm sure

I'm still on Vista - that's interesting. There's no email client? Is there any other option for you to sync notes with in that tab? You have to scroll down to the Other section where you can also check to sync bookmarks.

  • Installed security software. now, Itunes does not recognize my Ipod

Yesterday I loaded Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. When I opened Itunes today and plugged in my Ipod nothing happened. It did not recognize my IPOD.

I tried your suggestion with my iPhone and it fixed the connection problem for the iPhone.  So then I tried the same thing with my iPod but Windows told me that the driver was up to date.  The iPod still will not connect to iTunes 11.4.1.  Any other ideas?
See the further information section of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. The link there on device connectivity might help, or you might need to tear down and rebuild again.

You cannot backup photos to iCloud.
You can enable Photo Stream (in Settings > iCloud) but only for 30 days and only a max of 1000 photos.
Then what does this mean? It was copied from the kb article that I posted above.
Reducing the size of your Camera Roll backup
If you take lots of photos and videos with your iOS device, you may notice your Camera Roll takes up most of your iCloud Storage backup. To check the size of the Camera Roll backup on your device:
On your Home Screen, tap Settings.
    Tap iCloud.
    Tap Storage & Backup.
    Tap Manage Storage.
In the Backups section, tap your device.
In the Backup Options section, the backup size is displayed under Camera Roll.
To reduce the size of your Camera Roll backup, save your photos and videos locally to your computer with iTunes, and then manually back up your iOS device. If you want to keep your photos and videos on your iOS device, you can turn off Camera Roll in Backup (see the "Deleting backups and turning off Backup for your Device" section above) orpurchase additional storage.

  • Notes section is now empty

Recently my iPod Classic has stopped displaying the notes in the Notes section, but when I enable disk mode and look at the iPod's Notes folder in My Computer, there they are - large as life! The instructions note is there, along with two more in .txt format but none of them appear when I navigate to Notes on the iPod itself.
I have tried to delete and replace them, but it has made no difference.

    Hi Carolyn,
Nice try but, no mention of my issue. No technique for moving folders as a group from the left Pane.
I had seen those two links several times when you posted them in reply to other questions. I did search the forums, Safari help & Google b4 I posted.
I had to restore slowly. I found I could option drag the folders from the left pane to the right pane when the empty Bookmarks Menu folder was selected. Had to do it 1 x 1. Then for all my bookmarks that were NOT in a bookmark folder, I dragged 1 x1 into a finder folder on the desktop & alphabetized the order & then dragged as a group back to the now full Bookmarks Menu folder.

  • Can I view previous notes on my ipod touch 4g?

Restore from backup if your last backup was after you made that note but before you deleted it..
