  • Can't print to Lexmark X5270 (printer model is not in the "Print Using" box

I recently purchased this iMac and cannot get the printer installed correctly. It all seems to be going well during the install -- the printer shows connected to USB in the print browser. I select it, but when I go to the "Print Using..." drop down box my model of the Lexmark printer is not there! I tried downloading the driver for MAC OS X from Lexmark, but it is a weird file that the Mac does not recognize ("5200 Series Web Installer...sit") So I select the general driver from the drop down and add the printer. Whenever I try to print something, whether it's a simple text file or a drawing the printer does not respond.
    Please help!!
    iMAC   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi there,
I think you will find that like the Canon BJ's, the Lexmark utility should automatically set to the model of printer you have in the Print Using menu, rather than you having to browse for it. This would mean that the application to do this would have to be installed and preferably written in Universal for your Intel iMac.
Therefore you will have to use the Lexmark application you downloaded. The .sit is a Stuffit file. You can download Stuffit Expander for free (http://www.stuffit.com/mac/index.html) and once the file is unpacked there should be an installer that will add the necessary files to your iMac. Once this is done, you should find that when you select the printer in the Printer List, the Print Using menu will change to the correct driver and allow you to print.

  • Is Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 adequate?

Before I break the seal and open the box, a question:
The system requirements listed on the Aperture materials list several nvidia GeForce graphics cards, but not the 5200 card I have installed in my G5. Will aperture operate with the 5200 card? Or should I abandon my plan to use the program and return it unopened to the retailer?

    Supported? No.
Can be made to work? Yes.
Do a Google. You can modify a part of the Aperture executable to remove the limitation that stops you using the FX5200. You will have to do it after each update.
    Adequate? Depends on your patience.
Its very slightly buggy in that the loupe doesnt always completely fill, though that seems far better under 1.1.2.
Its not especially fast and your milage will depend on what camera you use it with. I have a D70 and mainly use for sorts/selects with up to 500 photos in a project folder and for my usage, it works fine.
The thumbnail browser works fine and a pic will 'load' to full rez in 4-5 secs (if not already cached) on my G5 Powermac 1.8 single.

  • Installing APERTURE 1.0 to upgrade to 1.5

I have aperture 1.0 but am unable to install it because my video card - GeForce FX 5200 - is incompatible. Now 1.5 is compatible with my card but I can't install the update without version 1.0 being installed. Any help would be appreciated.
    g5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I don't believe Aperture 1.5 supports that card. It supports the FX 5200 Ultra, but not the 5200:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/
Regardless of what it "supports," you would do well to upgrade that video card... I would suggest the Radeon X800 XT.

  • Apple 23 Cinema not working with nvidia 5200...help!!!

    Hey all!
I have an Apple 23" Cinema that is not working with my Windows XP machine using an NVIDIA 5200 128meg graphics card. The montior, when booting Windows, just flashes its power light 3 times...goes off...then repeats the sequence.
So, I tried a Dell 2007WFP with the XP machine using the DVI port of the card. When booting, it seems like it's going to fire up the monitor (shows splash screen and Windows logo) but then goes blank when it hits the desktop.
Oddly enough, when I plug in my Apple 30" into the DVI port of the NVIDIA card, it works just great. No fuss or muss (other than a resolution change).
The 23" also works fine with my MacPro BTW so I know the monitor is golden.
    Any takers on this one?
    Thanks in advance!

Hi Talon, I just accidentally came across your thread. Maybe I can help. I own a 23-inch cinema HD display but mine is ADC and I have to run mine through an ADC to DVI adapter.
    Anyways on to the discussion...
The nvidia 5200 is a rather old-ish card (or chipset). The feature set in these older cards are not necessarily symmetrically reciprocal (what?) throughout the feature set. In other words, the feature may work in one mode and not in the another mode...etc...
You may have seen these specs on your 5200 card/chipset:
+Dual RAMDACs (up to 400 MHz) for display resolutions up to and including 2048×1536 @ 85Hz+
and thought this would be great, my resolution is less than that @ 1920x1200 on my 23-inch cinema display. However I believe this may be referring only to the vga output signal and not the DVI. Read on...
Further down in the specs for the 5200 card/chipset you'll see:
+DVI support for compatibility with nextgeneration flat panel displays with resolutions up to and including 1600×1200+
Unfortunately, this is not enough resolution to power your 23-inch display at 1920x1200. Windows may even show the resolution 1920x1200 as available (if you're able to get to the screen) but what I think it's not telling you, it that in order for you to be able to use that resolution you'll need to switch to dual mode DVI, and the card does this automatically.
For example: 640x800 to 1600x1200 uses single mode DVI and anything above that (like our 23-inch cinema HD monitors @ 1920x1200) +using this particular card/chipset+ will be using dual mode DVI whether the monitor can support that mode or not. From my experience with my HD cinema it uses single mode DVI.
As someone said above your 23-inch is in *single mode DVI* and from my experience only accepts *single mode DVI input* from the graphics card.
From my understanding of the specs and your description of the delimma, I would suppose that you are able to get the 30 inch display to work because the 30 inch is a *dual mode DVI monitor* and your graphics card does work in dual DVI mode up to your 30-inch resolution but ONLY in dual DVI mode.
Here are the specs on it:
    http://www.nvidia.com/page/pg_20040109440047.html
I hope this helps you out.
If you were to ask my recommendation, I'd go buy a new video card that has higher resolution on the single mode DVI output. I can tell you that my ATI 2600 HD Pro (AGP) (windows version, not mac only) has two DVI ports that are both dual mode DVI capable but also dumb down to single mode DVI signaling at high enough resolution to support our 23-inch cinema HD single mode DVI displays.
    Good luck!

  • GeForce FX 5200 and Dell 20" 2005FPW - not recognized

    Hello,
I just got a dell monitor figuring that my computer could support it as it's the same as the apple display. It works with my powerbook - recognized by name, but that's an ati card. With the G5, it works in the VGA, but not at the correct resolution. it won't go to 1600 and there is no 1620 X 1050.
When the dvi cable is connected, the self test dissapears, but the monitor just goes to sleep.
I have the 64mb card....maximum res is 1900+. What's the deal? PC users can force the resolution with a utility. Am I stuck buying a new card for my machine??
    thanks for any help.

    Sam,
Don't waste your money. Your GeForce FX 5200 will run your Dell. In fact, I'm writing to you with my Dell 2005FPW monitor, running on my GeForce FX 5200. In this discussion group, I saw a suggestion to zap (reset) the PRAM. It worked for me.
Using the monitor that does work, zap your PRAM. When you zap your PRAM, as the G5 instruction manual says, release the 4 keys after the second chime. Then, you must go in and reselect, thru System Preferences, your Mac HD as the boot-up drive. Your manual says all this. ShutDown.
After I did all that, I reconnected my Dell, started up, & VOILA! Not only that, but when I went into System Preferences->Displays, I saw the Dell's 1680x1050 resolution as the selected resolution, so the GeForce seems to configure itself to anticipated device resolutions.
However, reading other threads in this group in trying to solve my problem, I saw that zapping PRAM doesn't always work. If it doesn't work for you, I suggest you go thru all the threads that seem to apply to your problem, because other considerations (not necessarily solutions) are offered.

  • FX 5200 TDR128 driver not pass the windows XP logo testing

    Hi there,
I've just bought an FX 5200 TDR128 VGA Cards, the problem is I cant install the driver because the driver is not pass the windows XP logo test (the error massage box says yhat the device driver is not designed with windows XP logo. So what can I do now? My VGA wont work properly if I do not install the driver which designed for microsoft windows XP logo.
    Best regards

A MS signed (WHQL - Windows Hardware Quality Labs) driver is not a requirement - MS may make a big deal about it, but do you really think that MS has the time to test each and every driver (and their many revisions) that are made by all the hardware manufacturers in existence??!
Fact is, by the time MS finally 'certifies' a driver, odds are the manufacturer has built a newer and better one (especially in the case of graphic card drivers).  Odds are, MS only really tests certain driver revisions as submitted to them by the author.  (and, if you happen to install older hardware, the last driver available for that hardware may very well not be signed - what would you do then?!)
That said, you can ignore the warning message that Windows gives you about a driver not being signed.  In fact, you can disable the driver check altogether in - Control Panel -> System -> Hardware tab in Device Manager section click the 'Driver Signing' button and set to 'ignore.'
Finally, after all that, the current nVidia driver (v.56.64) is WHQL signed - browse to it here or go directly (Win XP/2K) here.

  • Workspace error 5200:members not in same generation

    Hi,
This is for 9.2.03 Hyperion workspace.
A user was getting 5200 error : members not in same generation. I went in the File>Preferences, and turned ON the user POV. The user is still getting the 5200 error, but this time it says : Period and Dec are not in same generation. Its looks like somehow Dec is locked in the POV and even if user selects the whole period, he gets this error.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks!

    Hi Don,
The reason why i posted the item on 'data Connectivity issues' is because i suspect the problem is with the connection string.Though i had provided the correct connection string,re-writing the connection string with the same info might help to fix the issue with loading the report.
Does it mean that there is a problem in the connectivity?
I have a risk here that i cant re-write the connection string..i.e to open the RPT file in VS2005 and bind it.The production web server & database server sits in a  third party environment and it is not in the company network. So i cant connect to this server to re-write from any other severs in the network.
Is there any fix which can applied to the server to get this issue resolved?
    Cheers
    Nithya.

  • 5200 Calendar - beginning of note not showing

When I look at the calendar the day is in bold type but the beginning of the note is not displayed below the calendar. Is there a setting I should use? I really want this function - and in the handbook it says that it will display. Any help anyone?

Maybe this is copy&paste error from 5300 manual.
5300 (which has larger screen, but otherwise similar to 5200) is displaying beginning of the note.
There is no setting to enable this in 5200.

The touchpad beeps but the welcome signal and the ringtones are not working.
    Any advice appreciated.

    hey,
    ensure there is signal strength.
if you are using a headset ensure it is detached as it won't ring through the speaker.
check the phone's profile isn't silent, flight, online.

  • Hp LaserJet 5200 can not set IP manualy.

    Hi!
In my HP LaserJet 5200, field where input IP address (configuration -> JetDirect -> TCP/IP) is empty.
How I can set IP addres?
    Thank you!

This printer needs "JetDirect" to operate as a network printer.  Or, you would need to set up printer sharing through the computer you have it connected to.
Do you have any of the following on your printer?
    , optional Connectivity
    for HP LJ5200
HP Jetdirect 175x Fast Ethernet Print Server (J6035G), HP Jetdirect en3700 Fast Ethernet Print Server (J7942G), HP Jetdirect 620n Fast Ethernet Print Server (J7934G), HP Jetdirect 625n Gigabit Ethernet Print Server (J7960G), HP Jetdirect 635n IPv6/IPsec Print Server (J7961G), HP Jetdirect ew2400 802.11g Wireless Print Server (J7951G)
If your model is not network ready, you'd need to buy a print server.
For wireless connectivity, you might take a look at Apple's Airport Express, which allows a USB printer to be plugged in to it, and then wireless connectivity from network computers, that are wireless capable.
If you've had wireless connectivity with this printer before, then you should be able to access it from the computer it's attached to, I'd think, by going to printer settings, and configuring from there.
Sorry I can't be of more help, as I've not had personal use of that particular model.   Maybe someone will chime in.

  • GeForce FX 5200 (Fix or Not a Concern)

I am just wondering if Apple Inc. is going to do something about the GeForce FX 5200 graphics cards not displaying the semi-transparent menu bar? Apparently this is still not displayed correctly after 10.5.1 even though this was clearly an advertised Leopard feature.
Apple Inc., are you working on a update for us NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 owners, or are we forced to have less than the mentioned features advertised for Leopard?

    Richard, I'm right with you.
It's an advertised feature, and a fundamental part of Leopard's new UI, and nowhere did Apple say prior to the release of Leopard what the required graphics cards are.
Further, I do have a problem with the fact that the GeForce FX 5200 came on my iMac G5, which cost me $3000 in January of 2005, while computers (e.g. some iBooks, for instance) that cost half that, that were also in some cases even replaced before the iMac G5's debut, support this feature.
And another thing: let's assume for the sake of argument that the menu bar hinges on support for what has the highest minimum requirements: Quartz GL. We all know the GeForce FX fits the requirements for Core Image. But in fact, it fits the requirements for Quartz GL also, since when it was known as Quartz 2D Extreme in Tiger (though in disabled form), as you'll find all over the Web, was supported on Radeon 9600 or better or the GeForce FX or better.
So the fact that Quartz GL is not supported on this card in Leopard seems rather odd. Keep in mind the initial support doc said all Core Image capable cards will do the effect. The new support doc specifically excludes the GFX 5200; it "may" not have the necessary OpenGL capabilities. What is "may"?
I think the whole thing has been mishandled.

  • 5200-903: Agere Mini-PCI will not find WLANs

    Hi all,
I have recently installed the correct Toshiba Mini-PCI card (Agere drivers) onto my Satellite. Drivers installed fine (v. 7.62.0.390), but card refuses to find my access-point. Config-Free utility says: no connection with WLAN. I've checked cables more than twice :-), know what configured (IP, WEP etc.) ... After de-checking that WIN XP should configure WLAN, it did not work either (MSKB 871122).
Is this a know issue to anybody, or are there other compatible config-tools for the Mini-PCI?
Thanks for any help in advance!

    Hello
I hope that WLAN antenna is connected properly. Check if the white cable is connected to the MAIN and a black to the AUX.

  • [TV5200] fx 5200 not working

i had the fx 5200 running  so smooth on my computer and then all of the sudden one day i turned my computer on and it wasent working.....it stopped being read by my computer and is no longer visable in the device manager...any ideas as to what is wrong with it? it works as a basic video card but with very bad grapics and none of the special features work...

Try unistalling the drivers for it, disable any onboard graphics in device manager and bios, take out the graphics card (shut down obviously), put it back in and boot up the system. Hopefully it will now be detected and work properly.
Did you perhaps change or delete some settings?
    Try the above anyway.
    Good Luck
