Notes to home desktop?

Does anyone have a quick trick to bring their notes files to the desktop outside of mailing them? I screen-write on my iphone and just convert it from the mail to .txt then to Final Draft. Was hoping I could skip the mail part.

Remote Desktop Connection ok on work wireless but not from home

I've succesfully logged into the Win 2003 SBS (Terminal Services) from within the wireless connection at work using Mircrosoft's "Remote Desktop Connection". However when I try to do this from home I get the following error message "Either remote connections are not enabled, the computer is too busy to accept new connections, or network problems are preventing your connection. Try connecting again later or contact your administrator."
I've got the firewall on the mac on.
Now what I can't work out is why it works when at work and not from home. I have been searching for ages and can't work this out - annoying as I am sure it is very simple!
One thing I can think of is that the first time others connect via PCs they have to download the connection manager from the company web site which installs a security certificate. However this is an .exe file so cannae work on the Mac.
Do all I need to do is ask the IT administrator to email me the certificate and drop it into the keychain?

Probably because, if your work is smart, they have a firewall in place, blocking external access to the ports needed for use with RDC.

QuickTime will not reinstall on my home desktop

Somewhere between April 27, 2011 and last week something happened to the Quick Time installation on my home desktop and now I cannot get it to reinstall.
Pentium IV class processor
Vista Home Premium
iTunes (latest version) installed
When I try and reinstall Quick Time I get this error message:
Insights on getting this squared away will be apprecited.

Re, what else is not working? iTunes is also locking up, which I attribute to some connection to the Quicktime issues.
Yeah ... although the connection is a bit more hazy nowadays, given that a full version of QuickTime no longer needs to be installed for iTunes to work.
I'm not sure why a QuickTime install would need to do anything with those files. But let's try taking the message at its word and see if we can make some progress that way.
Download and save a copy of the QuickTime installer to your desktop. (Don't run the install just yet.)
Configure the PC to start with a clean boot as per the following document:
Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or program
Restart the PC. Don't open any applications. Try an install.
Does that go through any better?

Firefox runs in background (appear in Task Manager Processes Tab) only and does not appear on Desktop

I have been using Firefox on my Desktop PC with Windows XP for a long time. However, today possibly due to some virus (I attached an infected flash drive to my PC) a suspicious change in homepage (www.delta-homes.com) of my firefox occurred. Simultaneously an error message of "WinZip" appeared on screen. I figured that there must be some software in "C:\Program Files\" which is also causing problem to my firefox. I opened Program Files and removed that folder named WinZip. (Tried to uninstall it but it won't happen so I had to use "Unlocker" to kill processes this folder was associated with and then deleted the folder.)
From that point onward, My FireFox started to behave weird. Whenever I click on Firefox icon or access firefox.exe from any source (start menu, quick launch, program files, Run Command), it starts but appears only in "Task Manager Processes Tab". In that Processes Tab, firefox.exe is continuously using 50% of CPU but it does not appear on Desktop at all.
To go a step further, I uninstalled firefox and tried to re-download from Firefox official website but the download fails in the start saying "Download is interrupted". (See attached Image). So I downloaded a previous version of Firefox (v 34.0) from www.filehippo.com and installed it but the same problem is happening with this version too.
I am confused and surprised what might be causing this problem. Everything else on PC running fine. Kindly help me restore my Firefox so that I may not lose any precious Bookmarks, Settings and other Data. thanks

The installer is not loading home or apps

I just upgraded my operating system to 10.8.5, and now the Creative Cloud Installer is not loading home or apps.

Please uninstall CC desktop and install again:
1. Go to Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers and uninstall Creative Cloud desktop
2. Navigate to Applications/Utilities and look for Adobe Application Manage folder and move it to trash.
3. Run the CC cleaner tool and look for any traces of AAM. If present remove it:http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
4. Navigate to Libraray/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE and rename to OOBE.old
5. Download and install CC desktop from the mentioned link:https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud

If you can find it via the spotlight search screen then it's on there somewhere. You've checked all your homescreens and app folders, and how many homescreens do you have ? There is a limit of 11 after which apps are only accessible via the spotlight screen. If you have 11 then you can put apps into folders so as to make more apps available on the screens - which might be easier to do when connected to your computer's iTunes via the screen mock-ups on its Apps tab
You could also try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout which will re-arrange all your apps (and any app folders that you currently have) and might make it easier to find.

Apple TV with not recognize home sharing

Wi-fi Works correctly, but Ethernet connect wil not recognize "Home Sharing."
Ethenet is connect, but all other Ethenet function are workin, i.e. NetFlick and Radio Stations.
I have tried all of the obvious fixs, i.e. reboot Apple TV, reconnect internet, and many others none seem to work.
It worked with Microsoft 7, but this is a new computer and does not work with Microsoft 8.

so i tried the method Winston Churchill suggested.
This is what i did:
Start Terminal (this is a program found in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder, you can also get there by clicking on the desktop, select "Utilities" in the "Go" menu, then double click on "Terminal".)
Type exactly these commands into terminal:
networksetup -setv6off ethernet
(then hit enter)
networksetup -setv6off wi-fi
(then hit enter)
Then close Terminal, and restart your mac.
Viola!
Then close Terminal, and restart your mac.

Can I Share Itunes between computers when not at home and not both computers are turned on?

I have my Itunes library on my desktop IMac. Just bought a Mac laptop and want to have Itunes library on both computers. I figured out how to home share, but I want to be able to access my library on my laptop when not at home. Can I do this?

Using my mini iPod on both a home desktop PC and a Laptop

I have iTunes on both my home desktop and laptop. When at home I use my desktop to update my iPod on a daily basis with latest podcasts/add music etc. When I am away from home/on holiday I take my laptop. When I want to update podcasts/add nore music I connect the iPod to the laptop and click 'no' when asked to sync the iPod with the laptop, so as not to lose all the stored podcasts music etc. So, how do I add more music and podcasts using my laptop when way from home?

To do what you're wanting to do, you'll have to manually manage your iPod's contents on your laptop (and maybe your desktop, too).
This means that iTunes won't automatically sync with your iPod and immediately transfer any new podcasts to your iPod when you connect it, but it will allow to you store your songs on your iPod, even when it's being managed through two different computers.
To transer content to your iPod when it's being manually managed in iTunes, and not set to auto-sync, you drag-and-drop whatever songs you want on your iPod from your iTunes Music library, to your iPod's name in the left panel of iTunes.

On my HD it does not say ,restore, in yourname -pict. Iphoto lib.,

The back, forward, reload and stop buttons are greyed out, the address bar stays blank when I go to a website and firefox loads to a blank page, not my home page. There are 3 users on this computer and it only happens on one user.

Firefox loads to a blank page, not my home page. When I click on the home button it takes me to the home page. The back, forward, refresh and stop buttons are greyed out and not usable. The webpage I am on does not show up in the address bar. If I type something into the address bar, that address stays there no matter what page I go to next.

Drives are not mounting to desktop on macbook pro.

External USB drives, SD cards and even DVD media is not mounting to desktop when connected.
This is a new problem for me and have not had this issue previously. I have successfully connected the same devices in the past.
They all show up in the disc utility as connected. I am unable to mount them from disc utility (this button is disabled) and they are not showing up in Finder either.
Please help!

Sorry for the late answer. I live in Europe, so that's why I was asleep ;-)
Basically the command tells your computer to unhide everything on your Desktop, so if you don't have a Desktop, something is definitely wrong.
My guess is that there's something wrong with your account on that computer. You can check that by creating a new account in System Preferences (click on Accounts, click the lock in the bottom-left corner and then click the "+" button just above).
Then try mounting "some" media and see if it appears on the new user's Desktop. If not, I would highly recommend to reinstall Mac OS X.

I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem. The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6. (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time!

AFP-High CPU Load-Not Using Home Directories-10.5.6

We recently rolled out a Leopard File server (AFP, SMB services only) this past Monday using 10.5.6. We have about 30 AFP and 15 SMB users. We have 5 Apple XRAIDS connected through a Sanbox 5200 switch to the Leopard server. We are not using home folders for the users.
Similar to some users in this article (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1685965&tstart=0), I have noticed an increase to 100% CPU usage in just a few hours, and the second day 200%. Although the server does keep allowing new logons, performance is being affected. As noted by others, manually disconnecting all active or sleeping connections does not lower the CPU usage.
I though that following the suggestions in this article (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1765) about disabling Allow Host Cache Flushing in the XRAID performance tab would help, and it did, but just for a short while, and then at about noon, when the XRAID had been accessed for about 6 hours, and the 20th AFP user logged in, the CPU usage spiked back to 100%.
I am wondering if this is related to the number of AFP connections (more than 20), or if I have some client machine causing havoc when it logs in.
Here's my XRAID configs:
Use Controller Write Cache
Not Allow Host Cache Flushing
Use Drive Write Cache
Read Prefetch: 8 stripes (512 KB/disk)
Fiber Channel:
Speed: Automatic
Topology: Automatic
Firmware: 1.5.1/1.51c
At this point, I really am stumped as to why the AFP service won't let go of the CPU, even when users are kicked off. I haven't added any of my XRAID shares to the private portion of Spotlight, but the volumes have already been indexed long ago, and since then I've rebooted several times, and not many new files are getting created any way.
At any rate, I don't think this issue has anything to do with Home Directory sharing, as I'm not using them.

I'll also mention that most (95%) of our clients are still using Tiger 10.4.11. We have very few Leopard clients (10.5.5 & 10.5.6).
