Notes will not open.

(NSSQLiteErrorDomain error 8.)
System Preferences closes when select Mail, Contacts & Calendar

Same issue as of today, 4.1.13, Notes will not open.
The operation couldn't be completed.

I use Notes daily on my iMac.  I have notes open next to my browser at all times for (Big Surprise) Note taking. I rarely use / open Notes on any of my other devices; iPad, iPhone, etc.
iMac Mid 2007 / Processor  2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / Software  OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)
For the past couple days it has been unexpectedly and repetedly quitting.  I have had to close all applications and restart my computer to open it back up. Most often, only other Application running is Safari.  Occasionally I have had Pages, Calculator, Real Time Player, PDF Viewer, Preview open besides Safari and Notes.
I found this post and attempted to follow:
"Check the Mail, Contacts & Calendar preference ..."
System Preference window Quits, no error message, closes, as soon "Mail, Contacts & Calendar" is selected.
I found this too was an issue that followed in a reply to original post.  I follwed through to next Post:

In reference to your Post Step 1:
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messagesfrom the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

Thank you for your help.
My saved iphoto library is in iphoto 09 and I have now iphoto 11 in my iMac as I upgraded from OS X Lion Mountain to OS X Mavericks.
