Nothing happening when I plug nano in for the first time- no "source" tab
I have a 2nd generation 4GB nano, brand new. I used to have a 20GB ipod, hard drive crashed. So I have updated my itunes to 7.0, and charged my nano on a wall outlet.
I plugged the nano in, with the itunes open, and nothing has happened (it's been over an hour). I've read discussions, everyone keeps referencing "choose nano in the source panel"--I do not have any "source" panel or button on my itunes. The nano screen just says "do not disconnect."

Are you saying that the nano does not show in iTunes? The source panel is always there....it's the panel on the left hand side of iTunes that allows you to look at created playlists (Recently played, music, videos, podcasts, etc). In that area you should see the nano (whatever you named it or it may just say "iPod"). If you don't then go to the Windows "Safely Remove Hardware" utility (it may be open in the area at the far bottom right of your computer screen where the time is. It is an icon with a green arrow pointing left and slightly down in case you are not familiar with it). You can "eject" your iPod using that (click on stop and then another box should open. Click on the iPod labeled drive listed and then click the ok button). Then restart iTunes and reconnect your ipod.

I’ve tried to update my i-Tunes version after the site suggested I should following my i-Pad Air being plugged into it for the first time. The update seemed successful but the program would not open at all despite switching off the PC and re-starting several times. I then tried wiping the original software from the computer and re-downloading from scratch. Each time I tried the download failed with a message saying “Service “Apple Mobile Device” failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services” At this stage, the only way forward was to “abort” the download. This I have done now four times and the same thing happens. When I did finally manage to get an i-Tunes shortcut on my desktop, the program wouldn’t open saying: “i-Tunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install i-Tunes. Hi,
I plugged my iPhone for the first time to my computer. The iTunes screen automatically came up and asked if I wanted to register/set-up my iPhone as new phone or using the backup from my iPod. Without knowing what was going to happen, I clicked on the backup from my iPod and then I lost everything I already had in my phone: mostly contacts and pictures. Although afraid of the answer, is there a solution to retrieving the info, especially the pictures?
Thank you!by any chance did you do a back up to iCloud? if not there isn't a way to retrieve lost info with out a back up.

I PURCHASED RINGTONES ON MY IPHONE 4S BEFORE I EVEN PLUGGED INTO ITUNES THEN I PLUGGED IT IN FOR THE FIRST TIME AND RINGTONES HAVE DISSAPEARED FROM PHONE HOW DO I GET THEM BACK?
Try restoring from the backup created at the beginning of the sync process:
Without connecting your phone, open iTunes, go to Preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"
Connect your phone, right-click on the name of your phone when it appears on the left sidebar in iTunes
Select Restore from backup, choosing your most recent backup to restore from
Disconnect your phone and confirm that your photos are back
Go back to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and re-enable automatic syncing. -

I have only just upgraded to iOS 7 on my iPhone 4 and am having a problem with Viber. When my phone came on for the first time after the update I could see I had 2 new viber messages, when I went to open viber it asked me to register my number, which I did. Once the app was open I noticed all my message history was gone...
I still have an itunes backup of my phone just before the update, I restored it to this backup, followed the same process and now viber will not even work (the access code wont sms to me and the phone call option for recieving this code also come up with some error about not being able to do this at this time).
I have been able to access viber using another phone number (I have two sims which I use as I am currently overseas in south korea, my referenced australian sim has worked previously on viber overseas and I definently do have roaming on) but again I have no message history.
So to questions:
1) Why is my activation not working under my referenced australian number?
2) Can I recover all my message history which should be saved in my itunes backup? I am willing to revert to this backup state again if needed.

Thanks.Look iTunes>Preferences>Devices...is a backup listed for your iPhone 5 dated BEFORE you restored your iPhone 4 backup to your iPhone 5? If not, your data is gone. If there is a backup, on your iPhone 5: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You should now be able to restore that backup, if it exists, to your iPhone 5.

When I set up email for the first time, I had to enter a 4 digit pin. Since then, every time I switch my phone on, I have to enter this pin. How do I remove or bypass the pin so that I can switch on the Iphone without having to first enter a pin?
Go to Settings>General>Passcode Lock>tap Turn Passcode Lock Off, enter your "pin".
Edit: Are you saying you are getting a prompt for your email pin, or are you talking about the passcode lock that appears when you turn the phone on? -
Plugged my headset for the first time into my iphone4 to listen to music and the sound came out of the phone and not out of the headset. Anyone else experience this problem? is there a way around it?
Sorry saker, but if you have not backed up your data anywhere, and you told the computer, in essence to clear the data and restore it with your iPod data, then you are pretty much out of luck....

I had a software update on my phone and tapped it to start the update then decided to cancel it. Now it will not let me back in my phone and has a picture that is telling me to plug into iTunes. I had to download iTunes on this computer first because it wasnt on this computer. It has downloaded, but nothing happens when i plug my phone up to the USB port in my computer. The picture telling me to plug into iTunes is still on my phone.

Norton antivirus says my licence have expired when switch my computer on for the first time.
I just bought new touchsmart 520-1002 ru (LN649EA). It had norton antivirus preinstalled when i started it for the first time. After few hours of working antivirus informed me that the licence have expired. But before it was like 60 days. What to do? I'm affraid of sirfing the web without antivirus protection. So i'm using iphone. May be i should return it and buy second hand mac?

Welcome to HP's forum and your new computer. Nothing to worry about. That was a trial verson. What ever time limit they gave it has expired. I think you miss read it It flashes a reminder all the time. You can still use your computer. Until you purchase or install an anti virus software. The only thing Norton will not do is up date it's self but it will still scan your computer when you open it up and click scan. Try to get anti virus software. Titanium Maximum 2012, McAfee, and Norton are the top choices to choose from. Try to stay a way from the real cheep ones like Kerpsky that will not protect your computer. My freind installed Kerpsky asked to fix his lap top. Well I did fix it first thing I did was get it on line and run Trend House Call it found over 250 different virus. You just bought this computer Mac's are great computers but you are very limited to what you can do on them. This one will last you for a very long time ounce we get the bugs out it. My Touchsmart 600-1050 is going strong going into it's third year now. Just had it's frist full recovery done now my computer runs faster and much better then when I first bought it. Yes I had some minor issues fixed on it at first like anything you buy today is not perfect HP covored it all during the one year warranty. My recovery was performed because I picked up a new virus that no anti virus on the market could delete it had to be manually delete it but to much damaged was caused in the operating control software. Otherwise I would be still using Oginal set up. -

I was setting up my IPod Nano7 for the first time and purchased 3 songs. When I went to play it on my IPod the screen said "No Music". What did I do wrong?
We are going through same thing and looks like alot of other people also. Seems to me Apple would have invalid email instead of us loosing the gift card all together. Very irratating. Good Luck.

App freezes when JComboBox.addItem is called for the first time
I have a Swing app that intermittenly freezes when the users go
to a certain screen. I've tracked it down to a specific line. There is
a JComboBox on the screen. The application freezes when the
app tries to load the first item into the JComboBox using
myComboBx.addItem(Object o). I pass in an Integer.
The strange thing is that this only happens once a day, or
sometimes less, in a group of 4 users. But when it does
freeze, it always freezes on that line. After freezing, the user
can go back into the app, and go to the same screen(no
data has changed), and they can get in without it freezing.
So it seems to have nothing to do with the data - it's purely
intermittent.
The only thing I can think of is that the underlying native peer
for the JPanel that the JComboBox is on, has not been created
yet, and I'm trying to load an item into a combo box that doesn't
really exist yet. Anyone know if this is possible? It may only
happen when the user's machine is running very slow.
I've included the relevant code below. Any feedback would
be greatly appreciated.

New York, NYI am facing a similar problem with JComboBox. It is responding to the first time when items are added to the combo box. Later on, listener does not seem to listen if items are added to the combo box. Can anyone think of a solutiuon for this problem. (it works fine in 1.3 but does not respond in 1.4)

I just set up my new ipad, and on the first time when I got on the apple store, a small screen for a bundle of apps was suggested, for word processing and find my ipad and other usefull apps, I should have chosen to download them all in one go, but I didnt, how can I find it again without going to look for each individuale app manually.

Another problem when trying to open iTunes8 for the first time
I have just downloaded iTunes8 and after the installation received the message: - "iTunes has been installed successfully./"
However, when trying to open it, I too have a problem and the message I get is: - "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please re-install iTunes."
The previous version ran OK and I have de-installed it and re-installed it 3 times and each time I get the same message that it has been installed successfully but the same message sayind ome files are missing when I try to open it.
