Nothing Imported ??!! JEG ?

I am using PSE 9.0, and just recently I converted all my slides onto an SD card, then downloaded onto my PC. I chose PSE to to download the photos which went OK, but when I then took the next step in PSE to load to Organizer, it gave me an error message about 3 seconds into the process. The message inside the "Getting Media" box stated: Nothing was imported. The file(s) of folder(s) selected to import did not contain any supported file type, or the files are already in the catalog. Well, checking the catolog was a no brainer, they certainly were not there yet as this was the first attempt. I checked the "properties" tab on several of the photos and they are all jpg. So this leaves me terribly confused as this is certainly an acceptable type for PSE. I can open all the downloaded photos using other media such as Windows Photo etc, in fact every other type that I have on the PC opens the photos fine. So what gives with PSE 9.0?
My system, not that it matters for this issue, is using quad i7, 6 GB ram, Windows 7 ultimate, 64 bit. I can save other photos from email and import those just fine in PSE 9. so why not the ones from the SD card ? Anyone have any ideas for me? Thank you in advance,
Dick

The SD cards come already formatted, and the equipment that I was using to do the scans was an ION PICS 2 SD converter. It scans all the slides to jpeg format onto the SD card. All the scans are on the SD card, and they all downloaded OK via selecting PSE to gather the photos off the SD.
I was able to get them into Organizer late last night by going to Library on my PC and selecting My Pictures, from there I opened the folder that contained all the photos and then retried downloading all the photos. This time it worked! Now the question is: WHY did PSE not do this several tries earlier? PSE is supposed to go to FOLDERS also, and look for all photos, I had that selected. WHY did "I" have to open the folder before PSE would find them? Curious!!
A word of thanks to all who answered the call for help on this issue, very much appreciated !!!!!
Regards,
Dick

  • Tethering with D3, nothing imports in

I used to tether with my D3 on Aperture 3 no problem, recently I seem to have trouble tethering.
Aperture recognizes D3, it would starts tether session, I can even fire shutter remotely from the hub, however nothing imports in after short periord of importing. Shots: stays at 0, Last Shot and Version Name: stays blank.
Any clue? I had no problem with Aperture tethering in June - July, this is recently, I don't know what happened... tried to change the cable, that didn't help either.
    OS X: 10.6.8
    Aperture: 3.1.3
    Nikon D3 Firmware: 2.02 A/B
PS: Tried with Lightroom tethering later, seems like Lightroom able to tether for the first 3-4 shots, then it almost feels like Camera went to sleep or something, lost the connection after 3-4 shots.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I ran into the same issue with Aperture and my D3, the night before an event shoot... I removed Nikon Transfer, tried repairing permissions on the hard drive, neither of which worked.
In the end, I was able to work around it by changing the location of the image storage from my Pictures folder to the Aperture library and the image capture started working.

  • Import Mailbox (.mbox) - Nothing Imports

I keep searching for an answer to this but for whatever reason, I cannot figure out the right terms to use. I primarily use Gmail and I'm trying to do a backup as I change jobs. I'm downloading different parts of my email - using their data download. For instance, I have labels for "Family", "Work", and "Personal". Some mailboxes will import - there doesn't seem to be a pattern that determines which do (or do not). The mailboxes all have considerable sizes (which tells me that they are actually downloading emails (622KB, 25MB, 42, 50, 100) - the 622kb and 42mb worked but not the 25 or 50. I've been able to fix this once - by renaming one of my folders that didn't work. As you may know, Gmail only allows a certain number of downloads per day/week - so empty downloads suck (I just used my three of the day - so I'm stuck with these mailboxes, which I'm sure have emails in them but I can't get to them).
So - any ideas? I go to Mail, File/Import Mailboxes, and click on the file. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Double-clicking the file in Finder doesn't seem to do anything other than open a message in Mail and attach the file in a new message.
    Thanks!

An additional note - it's always obvious when a mailbox will import or not. Imported mailboxes take ~15-25 seconds when I tell it to import; mailboxes that don't work take about 2 seconds before it says it's done and that I should click okay (and then it's empty). So it seems like it just doesn't pull the files that should be there for some reason.

  • IMovie and Sony camera can connect, but nothing imports

My iMovie and Sony HD camera can connect fine...I can control my camera from imovie, but when i click import, it plays (plays on camera and timer on imovie starts) but the screen remains blue and no video is actually imported.

Did you try Sue's excellent suggestion of the Garage band trick anyway?
Also, try deleting iMovie's preference file...the plist found in YourUserName->Library->preferences->com.apple.iMovieplist. Close iMovie, trash the plist. iMovie will create another one when you launch iMovie again.
Do you have the camcorder plugged directly into your computer's Firewire port? Some camcorders don't work properly if they are connected into another device. And, just to be sure, you do have the camcorder set to VTR, right?

  • ITunes no longer imports or plays CD's

I'm running iTunes 8 on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and I've run into a problem where if I try to import a CD, iTunes starts to import the first track, then just proceeds to skip through every track until it reaches the end with nothing imported. As it tries to import, you can see the little animated importing animation to the left of the song, but it only lasts a second or so then moves to the other tracks and does the same until the end.
I get this same issue when trying to play a CD, with iTunes skipping through all the tracks trying to play something. I've done the iTunes diagnostics for the CD drive, and all tests have passed. CDs play fine in Windows Media Player BTW.

I have a nearly identical problem. I can import part of the first track, and for some reason, part of the 6th track and then skips over the rest. It shows the play times as a huge number (somewhere around 667 hours) but imports nothing. I cannot play the CD with iTunes either.
I bought vista home premium and was disappointed to discover it does not come with a x64 bit disk. I used vista 32 bit software and had absolutely no problems with iTunes. After a fresh install of vista for 64 bit iTunes no longer works properly. I can still play anything I transferred from my backup HD but no importing is possible.
I have tried the error correction with no success. I tried installing and running 32 bit iTunes and it gives me an error saying something to the effect of "iTunes is improperly installed. You may need to reinstall iTunes to fix this problem."
I have a hard time believing that this is due to a x64 bit problem as Apple has used this technology longer than most. Is this an issue with the latest iTunes? I am going to fuss with it some more but I'm very frustrated that I can bearly use the new iPod I bought. Any suggestions from Apple users as well as Dark Side (*vista or windows in general :)*) users would be awesome.

  • I am unable to import Raw files taken with my new camera Canon SX60HS.

I am running Elements 12, I have just downloaded and installed Adobe Camera Raw v 8.7.1 as it indicates that it supports raw files taken with this camera model.  I continue to get the error that nothing imported as it did not contain supported file types.  Do I have to do something further to connect this ACR program to Elements in order to have it work or am I missing something else.

The SX-60 HS requires ACR 8.7, and PSE12 is only compatible up to ACR 8.5, so you’ll either need to upgrade Elements or use the DNG Converter 8.7 or newer to convert a folder of raw files to DNG files, and then those DNG files will open in your older ACR.
You can get the DNG Converter from here:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

  • Importing in 3.1 - I can't do two SD cards in a row without restarting?

I have just upgraded to Ap 3.1. I used to import multiple SD cards in succession after a trip away, and it seemed fairly simple:
    1. Insert card 1 to iMac card reader
    2. import images
    3. use aperture to delete files from the card, and then move on to the next card.
However, tonight, I tried to import 4 cards one after another, and each time I had to restart Aperture in between each import. If I didn't restart, it would go through the motions of allowing me to select the images I wanted to import, selecting the destination project or folder or whatever, and letting me click 'Import all checked' or similar, but then nothing would happen.
Nothing comes up in the Activity Window, nothing imports, nothing happens. It just shuts the import screen and goes back to the previously open project.
I then close and reopen Aperture, and it works fine.
Any one else had the same issue?
    Thanks

Same for me. I was importing from hard-drives and dvd-backups. It would do the first import just fine but on the following imports it would either not display thumbnails for a given folder (close import and reopen import helps sometimes) or it would hang (beach-ball) after selecting the images and clicking "import selected".
Closing Aperture and restarting Aperture helps. Sometimes the images (some of them) were imported sometimes nothing was added to the designated project.
This issue startet after upgrading to OSX 10.6.5 (and Aperture 3.1)

  • Import my own class into servlet problem

Hello, everyone.. I fail to import java classes that i create myself into the servlet. I wonder what is the problem. I would feel grateful if anyone can solve my problem. I noe that if it is in the package let say myclass , C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.1.29\webapps\lis\WEB-INF\classes\myclass. It will be
    package myclass;
    import myclass.*;
But, I put all my class file into below directory not in a package.
    C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.1.29\webapps\lis\WEB-INF\classes
and i wish to include let say DBManager.class file into Login.class file which in in the same directory as above. What is the correct code i should put? Thanks for anyone who willing to help me out ~

You don't need to import classes from the same package. They are automatically available in the same namespace. Just use them.
    package myclasses;
import myclasses.*;  // this line does nothing
import myctherclasses.*;  // this line is necessary to use classes from another package.Having said that though, it is always preferable to put your classes in a package. Classes in the "unnamed" package are not guarunteed to be available anymore.
Particularly servlet classes which are not in a package aren't found by Tomcat.
In short: always put your classes into packages.

  • I am unable to import raw images into elements 11 camera raw from my panasonic lumix 200

I am unable to import raw files to E11 from my Panasonic Lumix 200. I get a response that says "nothing imported - no supportive file types" also "can't complete request as file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by installed version of Camera raw". I think I understand that I need at least a 7.2 version and don't know what I have.  The camera is a fairly recent model.

I'm new to all of this and didn't know to look further down the menu. I started browsing under help and found how to register the product which I hadn't done and have been thinking that was the root of the problem. Turns out with your suggestion to get me started I was right - I hope, haven't tested it yet. I had 6.4 It is still running.

  • Files won't import from Nikon D3200 camera into LR5

I've just installed LR 5.7.1. I have the camera plugged in directly (Nikon D3200). The thumbnails from my camera are available (I've deselected a few of the images that I don't want to import). The default 'Pictures' folder on my hard drive is the selected destination. I click the 'Import' button and the "Importing files..." message appears and just hangs, nothing imports (camera battery dies after a few hours). The "Copy and Import photos" progress bar at the top left doesn't show any progress. Any suggestions?

    * Thank you for the suggestion.
Additional info: I can not get the images onto my MacBook Pro via Image Capture either. Same situation, the images appear in thumbnail but after I click import nothing happens. However, I am able to get the pictures onto a separate MacBook via Image Capture indicating that there is something wrong with my system or it's settings. Both computers are running OS X Yosemite.

  • IPhoto not importing from Quick Look

iPhoto does not import from Quick Look.
    • Sometimes the image will check in Quick Look, iPhoto starts up, but nothing imports.
    • Other times, the item appears already checked when it open in Quick Look, but same result, nothing in iPhoto.
This happens with old images, new images, a just saved screen shot for example.
I have reinstalled iLife, repaired Permissions, scrapped the iPhoto Library and let iPhoto create a new one with defaults. Nothing has worked.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks

And with no configuraton changes, just plugging in the iPad [after walking around a bit] and the import worked as expected - nice that is works, bad that it is not consistant :-/

  • LR 3 will not import images

I just installed LR 3 on a brand new MacPro. I imported 27,000 files in from an external hard drive, which I had already put through LR3 on my PC. (Yes I tried to export the catalogue from the PC to the MacPro, after four failed attempts and hours on the phone with Adobe tech support I gave up and did it this way.)
These images all imported successfully. Then I tried to import from a CF card using a good card reader. The images all showed up in the import preview screen I selected the location to which I wanted them to be copied and an import preset. But LR will not import them - it gives me an error message: The files were not imported because they cannot be read." These are files from a D700, the same camera I have been importing files from on the PC for over a year. I purged the camera raw cache preferences & tried again with the same result.  Using another good card reader reached the same result. I can open the files with no problem in PS CS4. The files are fine.
I then moved the files to a folder on the desktop and tried to import from there. This time the error message is: "LR could not copy files to the requested location" and nothing imported as well.
    Any ideas?

Thanks for getting in touch, away from the desk at the moment, but
    1. The installation process was a nightmare, check the forum for how many people had a problem with that
    2. As for screen shot, it is just the import screen the moment after you hit "import" it just hangs I will comply upon my return
    3. As for where "I" went wrong, as the process has been precisely what I have consistently done for the last 6 years I'm fairly confident this is a software situation- I won't say never, but I'm good on this because LR3 can still be utilized in the same way AND I can create a catalog that LR 4.1 will open, the only workaround so far.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • Can't Import my Movies from my TRV520 Sony Camcorder

    Hello,
I recently installed iMovie '08 to my iMac G5 and was trying to import some movies I have in Hi8 cassettes using my TRV520 Sony Camcorder. I have no problem controlling the camera from iMovie '08 (like rewinding, forwarding and stopping), but when I hate play in iMovie the movies plays in camcorder screen but not in iMovie screen instead I just see a blue screen. Same thing happens when I try to import the movie, I only see the blue screen and nothing imports. I went back to my iMovie '06 (the earlier version) I was able to see the movie and import. I tried this also in my MacBook pro and the result was the same can't import movie in iMovie '08.
Is this mean that iMovie '08 does not support my camera? Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way for me to make my camcorder work in iMovie '08? What should I do?
    I really appreciate your suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Omar
    Message was edited by: iOmar

When I connect the camera to the computer it does not automatically open iMovie.
Was actually asking if plugging in the camera, turning it on (in the VTR mode for tape capture), and then opening iMovie '08 automatically recognized the camcorder and opened the "camera import" window. Some have reported this workflow was more successful in ensuring the camcorder was properly recognized.
When iMovie was open I clicked on the import import button.
Did this workflow get the iMovie '08 "camera import" window to recognized the camcorder "by name?"
I could not open or play movie in my computer but when I use the controls in iMovie it plays and stops movie in my camera.
Are you using the "Automatic" or the "Manual" setting? (I prefer "Manual" since I don't import every clip/file for editing.) In this mode, you use the "controls" in the "camera import" window to rewind/fast forward and start/stop playback of the tape in the import preview window. When you want to "capture" something, you just press the "import" button to begin capture and and the "stop" button to stop capturing a segment/clip. As soon as you stop, the captured clip/segment should be save and the thumbnails created. You then repeat this procedure until you have "captured" all of the files you want. Have never used it, but believe/assume the "Automatic" mode should automatically rewind your entire tape, place it in the play mode, and proceed to capture all clips contained on the tape. In any case, I had no problem capturing using the set up and manual workflow with my TRV520.
