Nothing in notification center preferences.

Right basically I've just upgraded to Mountain Lion.
I opened the notification center on the right-hand side of the screen but there was nothing there, so I opened the notification center preferenes and there are no apps listed.
I know that not many apps support the notification center yet, but the native apple apps should appear there.
Anyone know why?

Try this...
Quit System Preferences
Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library"
then go to Preferences folder and delete
com.apple.system preferences .plist
Also anything in your ByHost folder within your Preferences folder that contains
com.apple.system preferences .plist (may have numbers after the name)
EDIT: Let's add com.apple.systempreferences folder in your ~/Library/Caches folder for good measure
Launch System Preferences > Notifications and test
(You may have to reset some system preferences)

I am trying to reset all the settings under the menu 'Settings > Notification Center'.
For example if i customised the Mail notifications so that it didn't display an update when i got an email, i would like to reset this. However i don't want to have to manually reset each app which i customised the notification settings for induvidually.

  • How do I get my missed call notification to show in the notification center? Everything is turned on but nothing shows up.

I previously posted a question about not being able to see any of my missed calls in the notification center. I have the iPhone 4S running on 6.1.1. The notifications previously stopped working but somehow the calls started to show up. (I can't remember what I did to make them show up). However, after I went to General>Reset>Reset All Settings , the missed call notifications disappeared again. I have tried turning everything on and it still does not work. My settings are Phone> Show 10 Recent Items> Banners > Badge Icon On> View In Lockscreen On. I have also tried to set it as alerts but nothing happens. The only way I can view my missed calls is on the lock screen and in the recents tab in the phone app. They do not show up in the notification center at all. Can someone please help me?

  • Notification center not saving preferences

    OSX10.10 MacBook Pro, 2.8 GHz, i7, 4 GB
I have most notifications turned off.  When I reboot, the Notification Center resets to defaults.  Won't save my prefs.  Anyone else find this and hopefully have a solution?  Thanks.

Here are the instructions I got from AppleCare from an Apple Engineer. I'm not sure if the fix was specifically for my machine or if it'll work for someone else. Follow at your own risk.
    1. Open the Library folder in your Home folder.
    2. In the Library folder, open the Application Support folder.
    3. Locate the folder named NotificationCenter. Drag this folder to the desktop.
    4. Next, open the Terminal application.
Copy and paste each line of these commands into the Terminal window, in order. Press return after each line:
    cd `getconf DARWIN_USER_DIR`
    rm -rf com.apple.notificationcenter
    killall usernoted; killall NotificationCenter
    5. Close the Terminal app.
    6. Restart your computer.
The notification preference changes won't stick until you restart a 2nd time after this.

  • My sorting preference of notifications center apps does not save.

So in order to arrange the notification center app groups in the order of my preference, I went to settings>notification and tapped "sort manually". Then I tapped edit and arranged the apps in the order I like. I click done. Leave the app, and open notifications center and my preference is not saved. When I go back to the notifications center settings, it seems none of my changes were saved! The order of the apps is just what it was before I moved them around.

Has anybody solved this problem? I've had this issue with the iPhone 4s from the first day, running iOS 5.0.1.
Notification center seems to arrange the apps by itself, regardless if sort "manually" is checked and i arrange the icons by myself.

  • HT4623 How do you get your notification center to pop up nothing comes on mine and i don't get tweet notifications to my phone

How do i get my twitter notifications to my phone using notification center?

Is twitter listed in Settings/Notifications/notifications center?
    Additional Information
If you have an app that could send frequent notifications (for example, Mail with high-traffic email accounts, Twitter apps, and so on), your iOS device could wake frequently to display the notification (and affect battery life). You can disable "View in Lock Screen" for a particular app in Settings > Notifications > <app name>.
    Troubleshooting notifications
Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If you are not receiving notifications for a specific app, try these steps:
Verify that the app supports notifications.
After installing an app or restoring a backup to a different iOS device, open the app at least once to begin receiving notifications.
If the app requires entering or logging in to an account, you will need to do this before receiving notifications.
Check Settings > Notifications to ensure that the app is configured for notifications.
If notifications do not appear only in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.
If you are still unable to receive notifications and you are using a Wi-Fi connection, verify that the network or firewall is not blocking access to port 5223.

  • Notification Center missing! Nothing to pull down.

    Hi,
Suddenly the notification center has disappeared from my phone. I can't open it. I used to use it evrytime, but now I have tried more than 100 times to pull down on different screens, it just don't appear. Please help me out!

As I can see, you are using OS X Lion on your MacBook Air, and Notification Center is a OS X Mountain Lion feature.
As it looks like you have already purchased OS X Mountain Lion, just open App Store on the MacBook Air, go to Purchases tab, and download OS X Mountain Lion. While it's downloading, make a backup of your data with Time Machine and/or Carbon Copy Cloner, and check that your applications are supported > http://www.roaringapps.com
When the download finishes, the OS X installer will appear, so follow the steps

  • How to setup Facebook notifications on OS X Mountain Lion notification center?

    Hi!
Well, I'm having a bit of a problem here on my OS.
I had a Facebook account and I used to receive notifications in the OS Notification Center about comments, likes, messages, etc., as if I was at my iPhone or iPad.
In the meanwhile I deleted that account on Facebook and lost all my information (permanently) because I 'arrived' late at the recovery date and the OS was linked with that account.
Then I have created a new account and linked the new on the OS. The post function at the Notification Center is working well. No problem about it.
As for the notifications, they just don't appear. Nothing. I recieve them on my phone, on the page... But not on the OS Notification Center!
I have already been at the System Preferences, Mail/Contacts/Calendar, deleted the Facebook login information, configured once again. It doesn't work.
Do I have to do anything about the privacy or settings on the Facebook website?
I hope you can help me solve this little problem.
    Thanks!

  • Why are Facebook notifications not showing up in Notification Center?

On OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 Facebook account is setup in Internet Accounts preference pane in System Preferences.
Facebook is configured in Notifications preference pane in System Preferences.
The Share Buttons widget is configured in Notifications preference pane in System Preferences.
When I view my Facebook account via my web browser I usually have notifications available, but these notifications are not showing up in Notification Center.
I do receive Calendar, Mail, etc. notifications in Notification Center so I know it works.
I can send posts to Facebook via the Share Buttons widget in Notification Center, but presently I can receive nothing from Facebook..
Anyone know of a solution to this problem?
    Thanks!
P.S. I read in another thread how Facebook can be setup in iMessage, but I don't want to use iMessage if I can get Notification Center to function properly.

I got it to work yesterday. I tried none of the advice from discussions dealing with changing settings, enabling/disabling accounts, terminal commands, etc. All I did was ask a Facebook friend to respond to a post, and I was able to see the notifications in Notification Center.
I know most have their settings configured correctly in System Preferences, but this is how my preferences are configured on OS X Mavericks 10.9.3:
    (1) Internet Accounts preference pane:
There isn't much to configure here. I signed into my Facebook account. I checked or unchecked the Calendar and Contacts selections. It doesn't matter. I left the Description, found in the Details button window, as Facebook, but it doesn't matter, either.
    (2) Notifications preference pane:
Facebook alert style is set to Banners, but Alerts will also work just fine. This setting is crucial because if it's set to None, no alerts will be received. I left Show notifications on lock screen unchecked, but it doesn't matter if I check it or not. And I put a check mark in Show in Notification Center, and the number of Recent Items can be set to whatever available setting desired, mine is set to 20 Recent Items.
    (3) Notifications preference pane:
I placed a check mark on Show share button notifications in Notification Center, which is found when Share Button is selected in the list of notifications like Facebook, Calendar, Mail etc.
Again, I did nothing else, and it just works. As a side note: before I got it to work I called AppleCare and a senior advisor spent considerable time with me trying to find out why it wasn't working. And his last bit of advice was that I should reinstall the OS. He needs retraining because that bit of advice was ill-advised, to say the least.
I simply had no experience with receiving Facebook notifications in Notification Center 'on OS X', and the AppleCare employees had no training in this area, but if Notification Center is part of OS X, and Facebook notifications are part of Notification Center training in this area should be standard, but the AppleCare employees were guessing, not advising, which certainly is not technical support. Hence, my AppleCare dollars were not at work as expected.
So without prior knowledge as to how the specifics of 'Facebook' notifications worked in Notification Center on OS X, my assumption was I would be notified each time someone tagged me, someone liked a comment, post or photo of mine, someone commented on one of my posts, or someone sent me a direct message.
When I asked one of my Facebook friends to help me test it out, the following occurred (I don't remember if I had Safari up and running at this time - Note: I was signed into Facebook via Safari. I say this because AppleCare employees did explain on OS X some applications must be launched in order to received notifications, which in my mind is wasted time and code for Apple developers. Why offer notifications if the application is already launched? Ridiculous, if you ask me. That's what configuring each applications preference to set badge app icons, if it's not already coded by default.):
    (1) I sent a Facebook post via Notification Center using the Facebook Share Button.
    (2) I communicated with one of my Facebook friends by private message via iOS device and asked for a response to the post I sent.
    (3) My Facebook friend responded to my private message, but I don't remember if I received a notification in Notification Center.
    (4) My Facebook friend liked my post, shared my post, and commented on my post. I received two separate notifications in Notification Center on OS X, yet I received notifications on Facebook for all three actions, seen via iOS device. By the way, I wish Notification Center notifications would stay in Notification Center until we manually remove them. If they did stay until we manually remove them I would have time to find out which action of my friend I was received the notification for in Notification Center.
    That's it!

  • Stocks Won't Turn off in the Notification Center

I got an iPhone 5s yesterday. I don't want the stocks to display in the notification center so I turned them off (made sure the stocks button was unchecked). I also turned them off in the background app refresh area under Settings > General. The stocks are still appearing in the notification center (even with both options off). I reset my iPhone and they are still appearing. I tried to search online and I can't seem to find anyone else with the issue.
Do I need to restore my iPhone and start over? I would appreciate any help since I do not want the stocks to display at all.
    Thanks in advance.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Mountain Lion notification center shows no events/items at all!

    Okay, so,
I've updated Lion to Mountain Lion.
I've gone into the Notifications area in the system preferences area and everything is enabled.
I've swiped my fingers across to pull the notification window into view.
I've sent myself an e-mail from my gmail account in a browser to the account in my mail app
But there is nothing in there! Nothing but the Click to Tweet button type thing and the show alerts and banners switch.
Why is my notification center not showing anything?!?!?!?!
Thanks for any help in advance

    Notification Center is empty!
I have an iMac and Macbook Air, I sent myself a test email and nothing showed up in NC on either Mac.  I set a reminder on my iMac and it showed up in NC on the iMac but not the MBA, vice versa; I set a reminder on the MBA and it didn't show up on the iMac NC.  Both event reminders pinged my iPhone though.
I did just get an email notification from MLB.com that I can save $30.00 though, that showed up in NC on both machines.   Stumped.
The settings on both machines are identical, all apps that should be notifying me are minimized but I am getting nothing!
my understanding was that the NC was cloud based and not local to keep all Macs in sync and harmony, this just isnt the case for me.
debating on whether or not to book a Genius appointment to go over this, I'm hoping that the issue resolves itself or that an update is in the works.
I don't anticipate 1000 Notifications in the near future but would like to have a centralized spot to view them, I love the NC on the iPhone but the Mac NC is very frustrating.

  • Notification center issues

OK here's what I've done so far - and I still can't get Notifications to work:
    1.  Notifications Center fails to load at startup
    2. I find it it System/Library/Core Services, double click on it and it starts up
    3. I include in the login items in my account, just to make sure it loads
    4. The ONLY notifications I want are for Mail. Nothing else.
    5. In System Prefs/Notifications I select "Alerts" for Mail and click on all the other options including "play sound for notifications"
    6. "Do not disturb" is OFF
    7. I send myself an email.
    8. I check incoming mail.
    9. the email arrives and I see a badge on the Mail icon, but I get NO NOTIFICATION ALERT and NO SOUND.
    10. I read everything I can find here and elsewhere about why Notifications doesn't work. I try everything suggested except the really dumb suggestion about going to the AppleStore to see an Apple Genius.
    ANY SUGGESTIONS?

P.S. another issue is that every time I log in, Notifications Center has turned on "Do Not Disturb" option even though I have it turned OFF in the System Preferences and I want it to stay off.

  • Unable to open notification center fully?

    Greetings, all.
I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion, and when trying to use Notification center, I find that it does not work. I can try to use the trackpad gesture, and I get a situation similar to this: http://i.imgur.com/Ow5PD.jpg
If I click the NC button in the top status bar, it does nothing. I am running a 2011 MacBook Air, newly upgraded to Mountain Lion. 13". Anyone else having this issue, or know how it can be fixed?
    Thanks!
    matt.

One more thought - assuming you're using your machine's built-in display, it might be worth checking System Preferences ---> Display and making sure "Best for Built-In Display" is checked.
Clearly there's no attempt to assign blame with these suggestions, only to help resolve the issue.

  • Why can't I post on Facebook in notification center

    Hi all,
The function to post on Facebook in Notification Center works when I just updated to 10.8.2. Right now I can still see Facebook notifications, but I'm not able to post status update by clicking on the "Click to Post" at the top of Notification Center. (Nothing happens when I click it.)
Another similar question is using Facebook account to chat in Messages. Before it works fine by signing into chat.facebook.com, using Account Type: Jabber. Now it doesn't work even though when I go to System Preferences to re-enter my account password and no password error message occurs.
    Anyone can help? Thanks!

    Hi,
For the Messages bit I would check your Facebook settings and see if "Chat" is still Enabled.
