Nothing is working....now what?
my sister updated her powerbook and when it said to restart she did. Now she only has a blue screen with an apple logo. Nothing happens. We tried taking out the battery, jiggled and reseated the airport...just blue apple of death. Help please
insert the tiger DVD and restart holding the 'c' key and boot from cd and run disk utility to check the smart status of your hard drive...sounds like the Disk may be failing...
also while in disk utility repair permissions and see if that helps...

It may not be your computer telling you this, it is probably the company providing the shows to you over the Internet. If that is the case, no setting on your computer can change it because the media company is going by your network address (IP address), which is where your Internet modem (cable or DSL) connects to the outside Internet. If the location of your Internet connection appears to be outside the US (even if it is mistake), media companies that distribute shows under contracts with geographical restrictions may lock you out.
If you use a service like a VPN service, you may have the ability to use IP addresses from other countries so that you can appear to be connecting from there. But it takes some setting up. -

I updated to ios 6 when it first came out and nothing happened till now. My wifi is grayed out and not working and my Bluetooth isn't working too please somone help this is getting annoying. I tried restoring the setting and resetting everything but nothing worked.

No Service 3GS with valid SIM card. NOTHING has worked. What now?
"No Service" when valid SIM card inserted in iPhone 3GS. iTunes occasionally reads valid SIM phone number while phone still says No Service. I have tried everything and NOTHING has worked. The phone had two bars of service once, while it was connected to iTunes, for about a minute then went back to No Service. I bought it used from Game Stop in really nice condition. I would like to get this problem fixed, as I need a better phone than what I had previously. Please help!

There is a very high probability that the phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it, or was water damaged an/or repaired by a 3rd party.
Make an appointment at the genius bar and see what they have to say about it (be prepared to pay for an out of warranty replacement) or return it to game stop and get your money back. -
My itunes has stopped playing music. I recently downloaded more music and now it has stopped playing, it says it is playing but there is no sound and the time bar does not move from 0. I have uninstalled all apple apps on my laptop and reinstalled and then updated the software. I have tried 'repair' aswell but nothing has worked.

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

I already tried to restore the iPod, and I tried unchecking and checking every option for what I want to sync to my iPod. I restated my computer as well as iTunes, and I feel like I am out of options. I tried doing everything in all of the help articles as well as the steps given in the article written by the tech specialist on the apple website. I feel like I am out of options. my iPod is not even 2 years old, I do not have coverage, and I cannot afford a new iPod of any kind. Please help!!!!

goto itunes and hook up your ipod
click on the ipod in itunes and goto music tab in right hand screen
untick sync music option
apply / sync
go back and re-tick the option
apply / sync

I have been trying to get somewhere with a PowerPC G4 Quick Silver (base model but with a DIY installed Super Drive).
I had to remove an 80 GB Slave HD that was failing.
I used Super Duper! to make a bootable copy of the failing 80 GB Slave drive via a partitioned 500 GB FireWire HD before removing the failing HD.
The original 40 GB HD is runing on Jaguar 10.3.9 which is incopatible with Super Duper! Argh !!!
I tried upgrading to Tiger 10.4 via Internet but the Install Disc 1 did not work. I get it was corrupt.
I reinstalled a new 160 GB (120 GB recognized by the G4) that is runing on Tiger before my original Discs failed me.
I tried simply turning the G4 on but I get an endless white screen.
I tried PRAM but to the same result.
I tried Holding the Option key upon startup, but nothing.
Now the Mac won't recognize ANY drive. ARGH !!!

Could it be that Tiger cannot be installed on a 40 GB HD ?
That should not be an issue. Tiger should be able to install on any size drive having at least 3GB free space available (8GB or more free space is safer).
Check the health of that drive. While booted to the Tiger install disk, run Disk Utility and let it examine that drive. If it finds something akilter, let it repair what it can.
I'm not that familiar with the install options for the various OSX versions, but I think you should be able to do an Archive & Install - that should place everything currently on the drive into seclusion, in its own folder.
You should be using a retail install disk set of OSX 10.4 (Tiger) - a set of disks that shipped with another Mac (an OEM set) will probably not work. There is no full-install set of Tiger disks available for legal download - the only Apple downloads for Tiger are updaters only, each of which requires an earlier version of Tiger to already be present. None of those updaters can update OSX 10.3.x to OSX 10.4. -
I just updated my IPad to IOS 50.1 and now I can not open my apps. When I try to open them the screen flickers and goes back to my regular screen. I tried a reboot and that did not help. Can someone please give me some advice on what will work. Thank you

Calendar Services working, now what?
OK! so I managed to set up a new OS X server and managed to miraculously get Calendar to work. My experience is from iCal publish/subscribe era, and not exactly clear to me how this new protocol works.
Server:
Calendar Service is ON and I created 2 locations in "Location & Resources".
Network Users: User 1(me), and User 2. Only User 1 has admin priv.
Client:
I have successfully added a calendar account. BUT, if I authenticate with User 1, then I can see the 2 locations that I set up on the server, but can't see them if I authenticate as User 2.
I tried to edit the "Manage access to my account..." in iCal and gave write permissions to User 2, but still User 2 cannot see those calendars.
I realize that my problems are maybe that I am stuck in the publish/subscribe thinking, but have run out of ideas.
Questions:
Is there a setting somewhere on the server to allow users to see those location Calendars? Or a different authentication credentials?
Is this how it is supposed to work: If I want my assistant to read and write My Calendar, that I should add My Calendar to her client computer by authenticating using my credentials?
I am convinced I am missing something, because then what is the point of granting access to an account, that others still cannot see?!

PatrickFor server based calendars and contacts there is no sharing across user accounts where you can have one person owning a calendar and you give another account read-only access.
It is pretty rudimentary actually nothing as sophisticated as available on platforms like Microsoft Exchange.
What you need to do (well what I did after I found out from my own research the level of functionality and how to set things up) is:
Create a pseudo account for DAV access (Calendar/Contacts) I set mine up as (where domain is 'example.com' and server is 'server.example.com'):
Name - "DAV Service Agent"
account short name = "davagent"
email = "[email protected]"
No home folder
Restrict to Calendar / Contacts / Mail services.
Create DNS service records:
Service type = _caldavs._tcp ; Port = 8443 ; Host = server.example.com
Service type = _carddavs._tcp ; rest of data as above
At client machines setup Calendar & Contacts to connect to server using pseudo user above.
It works, I have all Mac & iOS machines setup to have server based shared contacts and calendars.

First, try to do a hard reset of your phone. (Hold down the Home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time for about 10 seconds. When the screen flashes and the Apple appears again, release the buttons.)
If that doesn't work, then you may have to put your phone in restore mode.
Power off your phone and disconnect it from the USB cable.
Close iTunes.
Then press and hold the Home button and while keeping the Home button pressed down, connect the phone to the USB cable.
Continue to hold the Home button pressed down.
After a few seconds, you should see the display prompt you to connect to iTunes.
After that, you should be able to restore your phone from iTunes. -
After installing Firefox 4.0 this morning it does not remember my scroll position any longer. For example, I go to another page within a application and need to go back to the previous page where I left off to remind me of exactly where I was, but it always opens at the top instead of where I was at, so I have to scroll each and every page. I searched the forum, but nothing helped. I'm thinking of going back to an older version of Firefox, but I shouldn't have to lose out on new feature's. VERY frustrating!!!

Ouch! That was not the way to get dust out. Running that damp rag anywhere near an electronic component, even if you were wearing a properly grounded writs strap, was way dangerous.
Did you lay the machine on its left side when you replaced the RAM? That is much safer (though the recommendation only shows up in the service documentation, not the user guide, for some reason).
What I would do at this point is to remove all RAM and try to power the machine. If other stuff is OK, you won't start but you will see the lunar LED flashing in a repetitive pattern above the power switch. If you don't see that happening, then things are exceptionally serious. -
Proximity Sensor Issue - Replacement Phone Still doesn't work - Now What?!
My face continues to press keypad buttons, mute, and End. I got a replacement yesterday and am still having the problem. This is disrupting my business calls and I'm getting very annoyed by the problem.
How has Apple not considered this a known issue? There was a post about this problem that had over 180,000 views and it has somehow disappeared.
I'm not really sure what else to do except return the phone and wait till they completely address all issues.

I got my first iphone and knew of the proximity sensor problem because my sister was having the same issue-- i had issues right away and called the next morning (I called apple support)-- they set me up to get a new phone.... I got my new phone and synched it right away-- OF COURSE IT HAD THE SAME ISSUE.... I called apple support AGAIN and this time I got someone with common sense-- he got me to a senior advisor right away.... and this person suggested I try restoring the phone to "new" and isntead of backing it up from 3GS back up-- to do it as a "new" phone-- this made EVERY app i EVER downloaded in 2 years go back on the phone and took about 3 hours to get back to how I like it... and of course-- its still having the issue-- I am now on the phone with Apple Care AGAIN--- they are in the process of getting me in contact with an apple senior advisor---
I know that I can return it-- but id hate to return it and find out that fridays press confrence is going to address ALLLL of this and that there is a fix....
soooo as soon as I am off of here this time I will let you know what they say.... -
So my Ipod classic starting acting oddly when I docked it recently. I took it off my docking station, which I'd used many times before and have no issues with, and the symbol for "docked" was still hovering over the battery. I didn't think anything of it until I came to dock my Ipod with my laptop and it said that it had to be restored before I could use it again. I restored it but this practically blank screen came up and just keeps flashing "Do not disconnect" and nothing else. What can I do?

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
