Nothing Works after 10.10.2

After installing the 10.10.2 update, none of my applications will work. At best, they will come up, then freeze and stop responding, but mostly now the app will just sit and bounce for a few mins, then stop, and never open up. My MacBook (mid 2009 15 inch Pro) was working great until this update, now absolutely nothing will work. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a solution of any sort? Thanks!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take an action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

    I've been having an issue where randomly when I wake my computer from sleep wifi isn't working and all the apple apps have crashed or crash at start up. If I try to restart nothing will happen and it stay on the grey screen for a long time after force quitting almost everything. I've tried doing a restore and that didn't help at all. Any ideas?

    For problems like this you need to start as small as possible because it can be rather difficult to figure out just what the problem is and you can wind up spending lots of time blundering about when the problem turns out to be right under your nose. So:
    Step 1: unplug everything from the computer but monitor, keyboard, mouse, and Internet cable. If the problem stops you know it was a peripheral device and you can start adding them back one by one.
    Step 2: create a new account and log into it. Don't configure anything, just spend a bit of time browsing the Internet and then let it sleep. If nothing happens you'll know there's something in your account or some program you are using that is causing the problem. Otherwise:
    Step 3: Run the Apple Hardware Tests and boot into the Recovery Partition to run Disk Utility. If the hardware test passes and the drive directory is okay then we move on to the last 2 bits.
    Step 4: The next time this happens make a note of the time and force quit, then as soon as the computer has finished rebooting, start the Console program (it is in Utilities) and scroll down to the bottom (those are the most recent). Look at the time stamp of the log and find the ones closest to the time you force quit the computer. You may find a hint there about what caused the crash.
    And finally:  If you booted into the OS X Recovery system and used TimeMachine to restore your computer it is entirely possible that all you did was restore the program right back onto the computer. Boot back into the Recovery system, erase the hard drive, download OS X 10.7 again and then use Setup Assistant to migrate your account and applications. Doing this is different from a restore because you'll be installing a fresh copy of OS X rather than copying it from your TimeMachine backup.
    Steps 1-4 can be done in any order really but the last step really should be the last step because it is the most time consuming and so often the problem is found in steps 1-4

  • Nothing works after reboot

    I have Oracle Database 11g installed. I configured the database with RCU. I was able to install Weblogic and the Identity Management components (OID and OVD). I was able to connect and configure OID, add users, etc. Cool. I restarted the system, and nothing comes up. I searched and figured out how to start the database.. obnoxious... but i got it up. We have some guys that use weblogic on our team, so I followed their directions on starting that: $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/domains/IDM/bin/startWeblogic.sh of course, none of the IDM stuff comes up. I looked at the error messages for odsm, and was able to start the nodeManager. oid and ovd still fail to start because they cannot connect to port 6701 and that OPMN is probably down.
    1st) why is this so difficult? am i missing something easy.. like makethiswork.sh?
    2nd) if there is no way to make this clunky horribly designed software come up automatically, how do i bring it up?\
    (Disclamer: I am forced to use this because of our need to match our customer's environment. I am extremely frustrated that we have to use this, and would much rather use something that actually works)

    If you are on linux:
    0-type: 'ps -ef |grep opmn'
    1-type 'env' command or 'which opmnctl' and find where is opmnctl script.
    2-Once there type: 'opmnctl stop' or kill it using 0 item above.
    Other options:
    If you want to check ports that are being used: 'opmnctl status -l'
    there is a relationship between ODSM and OPMN. Oracle Process manager(OPMN) comes from the old application server(OAS). So, it was added as part of WLS. So, if you want to kill it thru WebUI, you have to do to ODSM EM.

  • Wifi, phone calls, nothing works after IOS7. I got this phone a week ago!!!

    The title says it all.  I got this phone (4S)  as a replacement for a damaged one.  I upgraded to IOS7 straight away and can now not make phone calls and my wifi is blanked out.  What the **** are you people playing at?  I need this thing to work and you come out with an operating system that doesnt do fundamental things like make phone calls or download data. 

    This indicates corrupt files.
    A restore should resolve.

    It sounds like you got at least part way through the update before it stopped going any further.  Try the steps in this article for an update that didn't finish.

    To reset, press and hold the Home and power buttons until the silver apple appears.
    I would delete the app, reset the phone and then download the app again. Your calendar information should be stored on the phone as Week Cal uses the Calendar app information.

    iTunes STORE not “connectable” with my otherwise perfectly-working internet connection, viable, up and running for all other uses.
    Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio.  People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.
    Read the many web comments and you won’t be pleased with yourselves: the suspicion is that if you ruin internet radio on iTunes, Apple will somehow make more money on music downloads, etc. Bull.
    Also, thirdly, my old playlist of 20 or so internet radio stations in the Ambient category STILL PLAYS !
    Then fourth, I installed the latest available version of QuickTime Player 7.app Version 7.6.6 but it didn’t solve the problem either. I had QuickTime Player.app Version 10.2, but substituted what Apple website said was the latest, LOWER NUMBERED QuickTime Player version of 7.6.6
    Fifth, I can't connect to iTunes store no matter what I do or what user group's advice I try. So I can’t buy or download anything from iTunes. Bad for business.
    Sixth, I updated to the latest version of iTunes but this weird problem remains. All suggested Apple fixes or user group fixes are useless. Where is Apple’s famous technical competency, vaunted customer support?, and user-friendly product reputation? Get it back, please.

  • Can't open firefox after upgrading to the latest version. All programmes affected, basically nothing works and it's driving me mad!

    Having updated firefox, it does not work. After an hour or so to try and open firefox, it says firefox has crashed and gives option to restart or quit.
    Same with internet explorer and chrome - no response. After about an hour, excel finally opened but so slow to be able to do anything.
    Also noticed a message bottom right corner of screen saying this version of windows is not authentic. I have windows 7 and it is legitimate and have not seen this message before.
    I have read lots on the internet but nothing seems to match my problem if nothing working. I am unable to change settings or look at set up of any programmes because I cannot get in to them.....
    Any ideas would be so gratefully relieved please!!

    I have tried everything i could find online. uninstall and re-install. tried even full uninstall, giving up my profile data (i back it up in chrome).
    Nothing worked. the firefox.exe process appeared in Task Manager for 3 second and disappeared.
    Finally i downgrade to FF26 - an unofficial version from the web and not of my locale.
    You should provide an option to download older versions.

  • The last version stopped working and after an upgrade, nothing works. Add-Ons are absent...it will access internet but the entire browser is messed up.

    Was using version prior to latest version 16. Had a problem getting rid of Incredimail search so came here. Instead of doing the reset procedure, I uninstalled-reinstalled Firefox after exporting my bookmarks, etc. I used Revo Uninstaller. That solved the problem of the incredimail issue but went to put my usual add-on's onto browser and that's when the problems started. Last Pass log in button has a small drop down menu I have never seen before..no text just icons. At first the browser showed I had add-ons, but when I would click the options on say: Last Pass, that brought up a menu that was blank. No way to set options. Nothing works. So I reset to original. That didn't work. So...I removed the folder from my programs file and uninstalled Firefox again. Then I upgraded to the latest version...16. Same story. When I click my add-on's, it comes up to the find add-on's, essentially the browser is saying I have none installed. None of my add-on's show up at all. I am probably not making sense here but Firefox will connect and browse the web but that's about it. The add-on's I use, such as, again, Last Pass, are not there. I DO have Windows XP SP3 and my computer is up to date. Don't know if this matters, but I also have Chrome and use some of the same extensions for it that I use for Firefox.

    Revo Uninstaller is just that. A simple program(s) uninstaller. When I couldn't get rid of the Incredimail search bar, I used Revo and completely uninstalled version 15 Firefox. Before doing so I exported my bookmarks, etc to another browser.
    I reinstalled Firefox, put my add-on's back, just as if it were my first time using Firefox. I had a list of add-on's and extensions and plug-ins showing up on Firefox as was normal. I logged into Last Pass and when I went to set the options, the entire form on the add-on's page was blank. The drop down menu for Last Pass had some weird icons...icon of man and woman, some kind of emoticons...not sure what they were because they weren't marked and they would not do anything once clicked.
    After having to copy and paste from Last Pass Vault just to get on my various sites, I reset Firefox. Same problems. I then went to my C:/program files and removed the Mozilla Firefox folder as specified by Mozilla. I then upgraded to 16. Now I don't have any add-on's, just the search for add-ons page. When I tried to add my Last Pass, Clear Preview..etc...they installed but would not show up anywhere on Firefox. I then did another clean uninstall with Revo. I did a clean install for 16 Firefox. Same thing. None of the add-ons I put back show up. I have Windows Professional Edition XP Service Pack 3 and all updates are current. I have Zone Alarm Professional Security Firewall and anti-virus, System Mechanic, Spybot Search and Destroy. I have no idea what is causing my problems. I do use Chrome for some web surfing and I do have many of the same extensions on Chrome that I use(d) on Firefox. Would that interfere? Thanks for the prompt reply!

Firefox just sits on the default search page and attempts to connect to websites by typing URLs, or by clicking on the links on the default search page don't work.

    You could try the following:
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.
    Let us know if this fixed your problem!
