  • Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c does not support RHEL 5.9 but did oracle have any plan to release patchs to support RHEL 5.9?

    To Forum Users,
    Below is my issue description:
OPS Center 12C is successfully installed & configured on RHEL 5.9 but post installation while trying to configure controller (enterprise & proxy) using http url it redirect to secure port https but doent promts login screen page. Later i found RHEL 5.9 O.S doen't support Ops center 12c.
Did oracle have any bug / patches for this issue ? or any planned release for / against this vulnerabilities ?

       Hello AkankshaSheoranKaler
We have done the following, but we aren't able to resolve this issue. Thank you for your help!
    lf
“This  happen if the software library is not accessible, readable or unmounted (if it is in shared file system).”
On Enterprise Manager server [nsn175-105], we did the following:
    1. we modified /etc/exports to include this line: /export *(rw,no_root_squash,sync)
we start nfs service by executing command “service nfs start”.
On Management Agent server (nsn175-89), we verified that we are able to mount /export directory of EM server.
On Management Agent server, we started firefox browser and were able to run successfully https://nsn175-105.us.oracle.com:4904/empbs/genwallet
After making this change, we ran agent deployment again. We encountered the same error as shown above.
“You can fix the software library or you can download the agent bits in offline mode.”
For fixing the software library, select Setup->Provision and Patching->Offline Patching, then select Offline Patching radio button, download: https://updates.oracle.com/download/em_catalog.zip. Next upload this zip file.
    “Try downloading the bits again”
We are not sure what agent bits are. Would you please explain this and provide procedure how we can download this?
(Here I have attempted to fix the software library, but I am new to Enterprise Manager and not sure how to interpret this).

I am not sure to completely understand your logs since they don't seem to be written in English but
could it be that you are using Firefox 4.0 ? ( only firefox 2 and 3 and IE 7 and 8 are supported ).

  • Configuration issue with OPS Center installation on OEL 5 update 5

    Hi,
I have installed OPS Center 11g on an OEL 5 update 5. All prereqs, i think, is met and installation gives no warnings or errors.
When I try to access the web page to run the configuration wizard. It hangs with the "LOADING" message, after logon. And nothing more happens.
In the bottom left corner of the browser i have the DONE message. But an error behind.

  • How to receive notifications from Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c

    Hi:
    - I have a question.
Previous versions of Ops Center could forward notifications via JMX to users using:
    OBJECT_NAME = "com.sun.xvm.services:type=NotificationService"
    OPERATION_NAME = "getGeneratedNotificationsForUser”
assuming that at least one user is configured to receive the notification.
    - I pointed jconsole against Ops Center 12c, but when I invoked the getGeneratedNotificationsForUser method,
Ops Center 12c did not forward any notifications.
    - Has anyone else encountered this?
    - Is this an Ops Center configuration issue?
    - Is there another operation and object that can retrieve notifications ?

  • Configuring email alerts in Ops Center

    Hi all,
I have been struggling quite a while to get email alerts working from Ops Center with no success in 11g nor 12c. In the Ops Center GUI, Administration -> EC -> Local Users -> configured user to receive all alerts and emails. I have also configured email relay host correctly(checked a million times).
Sending emails from the host through the email relay works fine, so I'm baffled.
    #mailx -s " Test from Ops Center" "my.email@work" < text-file
Do I need to configure something else in Ops Center or what am I missing here?

The email alerts from Ops Center are working for me, I performed...
    1.) You must be able to send email from the command line on the Enterprise Controller to the intended email address, ie;
    # mailx -v [email protected]
Subject: Email test from Enterprise Controller
    EOT
    <control-d>
That test must be successful, and the email received!
2.) Setup the Notification Profile in the BUI...
Administration > Enterprise Controller > Users
Highlight the root user, select Configure Notification Profile (the wrench icon)
Notifications via >> Subscribe to All Notifications
User Interface > "Problem updates and all Severities"
Email: > "Problem updates and all Severities"
    Pager: None
    Notifications Delivery Details
    Email: [email protected]
    Pager Address: <blank>
    Mail Host: localhost
    Port: <blank>
    Mail User: root
Mail Password: <enter the password for root on the EC>
    Connection Security: STARTTLS
    Select: Update Notification Profile
3.) Go to Assets > Operating System (second level down) of some Asset
In the center pane select the "Monitoring" tab
Under "Threshold Monitoring Rules" highlight "Memory Usage Percentage"
Edit Alert Monitoring Rule Parameters (the pencil)
    Monitor for alert limits continuously
Toggle: Generate Alert after 1 Minute
    Change Critical MemoryUsage.usedMemoryPercentage > 2%
    Change Warning MemoryUsage.usedMemoryPercentage > 1%
    Apply
Wait one minute, you should receive an email that resembles the following:
Notification is generated by (90037): myserver

  • Ops center SDK

hello, for OEM OC i found this document http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27363_01/doc.121/e27340.pdf for tuning monitoring rules. On page 5 the author is mentioning a SDK for ops center, which should be on the EC server e.g. SUNWxvmoc-sdk.pkg, but i can not find this file on my ec. does anybody know where to find/download this package? Peter

    Hi 2708924,
I assume your EC is on Solaris Environment and any command is executed by root (or root role).
Try to move in "/var/opt/sun/xvm/update-saved-state" :
    For example on my EC
    root@myEC # ls -la /var/opt/sun/xvm/update-saved-state
    total 25
    drwxr-xr-x   7 root     root           7 Mar 31 19:24 .
    drwxr-xr-x  30 root     sys           60 Jul 26 04:00 ..
    drwxr-xr-x  10 root     sys           13 Dec 19  2012 update_EC_minor_bundle_12.1.2.2161
    drwxr-xr-x  10 root     sys           14 Jun 12  2013 update_EC_minor_bundle_12.1.3.2305
    drwxr-xr-x  10 root     sys           14 Nov 29  2013 update_EC_minor_bundle_12.1.4.2319
    drwxr-xr-x  12 root     sys           16 Mar 31 19:51 update_EC_minor_bundle_12.2.0.2663
    drwxr-xr-x   8 root     root          10 Dec 17  2012 update_satellite_bundle_12.1.1.2076
    root@myEC #
Move to latest installed distribution bundle packeges version path:
    For example on my installation:
    root@myEC # cd /var/opt/sun/xvm/update-saved-state/update_EC_minor_bundle_12.2.0.2663/distribution/xvmoc_update_bundle/packages
    root@myEC # pwd
    /var/opt/sun/xvm/update-saved-state/update_EC_minor_bundle_12.2.0.2663/distribution/xvmoc_update_bundle/packages
    root@myEC # ls -lah SUNWxvmoc-sdk.pkg
    -rw-r--r--   1 root     sys         117M Mar 31 19:51 SUNWxvmoc-sdk.pkg
    root@myEC #
If you don't find can try executed "find /var/opt/sun/xvm -name SUNWxvmoc-sdk.pkg -print". Go to step 2 at document http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27363_01/doc.121/e27340.pdf

  • Ops Center 12c - discovery of OVM Manager fails

Ops Center 12c - discovery of OVM Manager fails
I am trying to discover OVM Manager and the OC job fails, I noticed that its trying to connected using port 54321 which only listens to localhost.
is there any way to change Ops Center discovery to use port 54322? I followed this process to enable port 54322 (port 54321 will only listen to localhost) http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27300_01/E27308/html/vmiug-manager-tcps.html.

Did you get an answer to this? I am in the similar situation

  • Storage Plugins for Ops Center Storage Discovery

Oracle VM provides for several vendor storage plugins when connecting to iSCSI storage.
Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center allows for discovery profiles but only has a SunZFS Storage Appliance SCSI plugin in its drop down, not even the Generic iSCSI plugin OVM uses.
Can the Oracle VM plugin be used with Ops Center?
What are the plans to support vendor specific storage plugins for Ops Center?
Is there a development guide for writing a storage plugin for Ops Center?

We had some discussions along the same lines in our organization, and it came down to SA's and DBA's requiring different toolsets and their comfort level with them. Of course, a lot of this was inherited from the hardware being Sun before it was merged into Oracle, but the situation remains. Also, the SA's came to the conclusion to use Ops Center before the DBA's got around to installing their management interface (we came from a script-based management environment) -- that has something to do with it as well.
If you get to start from the ground up, that's a slightly different matter.

  • After Installing Solaris11 through Ops Center the OS Asset is not showing in Ops Center UI.

After Installing Solaris11 on T4-4 through Ops Center the OS Asset is not showing in Ops Center UI. Any Reasons why?

This is because probably caused by the following bugs:
15940804 - The LDom Control Domain OS asset is missing for the t5120 therefore it's unable to successfully provision Solaris 11.1.1 CDOM on a t5120 asset - see workaround above
15818412 - delete asset is not properly cleaning the __local mbeans in the domain model - Fixed in DU3
To reapply the deployment plan, delete the access point and rediscover. Still the plan fails upgrade to the latest version of Ops Center.

  • Wanboot installation trhough OPS center

    Hi ,
Does somebody known how to install a remote server using with ops center ?
I've build a deployment plan with a flar archive using jet template
    Thanks

I believe it is suggested to NOT install both on the same server.  We have Ops Center installed on 1 VM guest and EM on another VM guest, but technically on the same physical box.

  • Deploying software with Ops Center

    Hi all,
OK, so Ops Center will provision an OS, patch the OS, and upgrade the OS, but is it also capable of deploying additional software after the OS is up and running ?
For example, packages for third party backup agents (TSM, Networker, Netbackup etc).
Basically, can I import non-OS packages into the software library, and create projects/plans to deploy those packages on remote hosts after the OS has been provisioned ?
    Cheers,
    Graham

Absolutely, you can use Ops Center to deploy any 3rd party application, scripts, TAR/ZIP files, configuration files and pre/post action scripts. After uploading those as 'Local Content', you can either deploy them through "View/Modify Catalog" under each OS asset, or use OS profile to automate the deployment of multiple components together.
Please review the following document about Local Content:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27363_01/doc.121/e27511/ftr_software_libraries.htm#BABEJICB
And how to use OS Update profiles:

  • Performance report in ops center.

It is possible to create performance reports in ops center like PRM module in SunMC is doing for CPU Usage, Disk, Memory, Network.. etc.. ?
    Thanks
    Antonio

    Hi Antonio,
You can also look at the Halcyon Neuron Performance Manager (http://www.halcyoninc.com/products/PerformanceManager/index.php). It hooks into Ops Center and/or SunMC to automate a lot of the reports (on top of what Ops Center provides out-of-the-box).
Note: I work for Halcyon, but part of my day job is also deploying and configuring Ops Center, so I hope this post is considered relevant.
