Notification Center disappeared

Hello! This is my second support question about my MacBook Pro. This forum has helped me in the past, and I hope it does so again. A few days ago; for no explainable reason; my notification center stopped appearing on login. What I mean by this is that in the top hand-right corner of the screen there is only the Spotlight symbol. I first noticed this when I was listening to iTunes music and the song I skipped to didn't appear. I can re-add it through /System/Library/CoreServices/ by double clicking on the Notification Center icon but it won't still be there at login. I tried the solution that worked for my friend; which was entering a Terminal command.
Command: sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.notificationcenterui KeepAlive -bool true
This command SHOULD make it so that the notification center stays on; however, it did not work as it should. I tried numerous times and have to re-enable NC every time I start up my computer manually.
OS X Mavericks 10.9.2, Macbook Pro Mid-2012

Bump. Please, it is still happening.

  • HT3576 How do you fix the problem that happens when if I open my notification for an app, it disappears on the Notification Center?

I was updating an app on my iPad (seeds pro), and when it was fully updated, I opened it. I tried to use a feature on it, but it said I need push notifications enabled. I was looking around in the notification part of the settings app, and when I go back to the specified app, it still didn't let me use the feature. But the additional thing is that now, when I open a notification for ANY app, or at least open the app, it disappears from the Notification Center. I really need help in fixing this bug or problem or whatever it is.

It didn't work like that before. And I know it wasn't a new feature in the iOS7 update, I've never had my notifications deleted from the Notification Center until a week ago. Before that, I kept my notifications in the Notification Center.

I myself am having this issue and its driving me crazy. I search the internet and find posts just like this, one with no answer or solution to the problem. Please help this is really annoying !

  • Apple reminders do not disappear from "all" and "missed" view when dismissed from "today" view of notification center by marking the circle by the reminder. why is this?

Firstly, I really like the new reminders in iOS 7. However, I noticed that apple reminders do not disappear from "all" and "missed" view when dismissed from "today" view of notification center by marking the circle by the reminder. it requires me to take an extra step and click on "all" and then click the "x" to make it completely disappear and clear from notification center.
why is this? am i doing something from?

unfortunately, that does not address my question. your link describes how to clear the missed section of center.  I know how to clear the missed section of notification center, as I said in the original question. I will re-peat my question to clarify. it is:
apple reminders do not disappear from "all" and "missed" view when dismissed from "today" view of notification center by marking the circle by the reminder. it requires me to take an extra step and click on "all" and then click the "x" to make it completely disappear and clear from notification center.
why is this? am i doing something wrong?
the behavior I would expect would be that when i click the circle on the "today" view. it would clear it out from the missed and all view so i would not have to clear in 2 areas.
    I Hope this clarifies...

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
Also consider deleting and reinstalling the Mail Account in question.

How is Acrobat 8 not fully Windows 7 compatible?  I see discussions on this Adobe Community saying how Acrobat 8 does work on Windows 7 and with 64-bit.  It appears that if Acrobat 8 is updated to the latest version, then this should fix AA8-Win7 issues.  And I am at the latest AA8 version, 8.3.1.
And how are Acrobat 8 and Reader XI are not compatible?  I have always had Acrobat and Reader installed on the same PC, without ever having any issues.  And Adobe allows the installation of one after the other.  So apparently Adobe allows them both to exist together.  If they are incompatible, then why would Adobe allow them to exist together?
Anyway, I did uninstall the FileOpen Plug-in and the Reader XI, then reinstalled the FileOpen Plug-in.  So now Reader is not installed and only Acrobat 8 is installed.  I then tried to load the PDF file, but I still get the Acrobat 8 error described above.

  • Weather in iOS 7 Notification Center flashes and disappears

    This is weird.
Upgraed to iOS 7 on lauch and the weather description in notification center quickly flashes then is gone.
The weather description as text only is instead of the the graphical widget, in my opinion, is far less usable than it used to be. But still, I'd rather it worked, even if it's a problematic design.
    Cheers,
    James

OK. I went to the Weather app noticed there was a problem. For some reason my home city, which is set as the location aware first item and the second item too, wasn't working properly. It would appear as night time (correct) and show the temperature on the saved item, but the automatic location item wasn't getting the data properly.
I gave it a few minutes, then it connected and now the weather shows up in Notification Center, which makes sense now, but still weird  .

  • How do I get my missed call notification to show in the notification center? Everything is turned on but nothing shows up.

I previously posted a question about not being able to see any of my missed calls in the notification center. I have the iPhone 4S running on 6.1.1. The notifications previously stopped working but somehow the calls started to show up. (I can't remember what I did to make them show up). However, after I went to General>Reset>Reset All Settings , the missed call notifications disappeared again. I have tried turning everything on and it still does not work. My settings are Phone> Show 10 Recent Items> Banners > Badge Icon On> View In Lockscreen On. I have also tried to set it as alerts but nothing happens. The only way I can view my missed calls is on the lock screen and in the recents tab in the phone app. They do not show up in the notification center at all. Can someone please help me?

  • IOS 8.1 Weather App/Notification Center

I'm currently using iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5c and since i have upgraded i have noticed that, randomly, the native weather app looses its detailed information. Sometimes i can view the details (sunrise, sunset, chance of rain, humidity, etc..) other times it disappears... further, once its disappeared i have noticed the notification center weather update is also missing... very frustrating... I have reset the phone a few times and it seems to solve the problem for a short time, but the issue returns. All the appropriate location settings are on and in place... its almost like the data the phone retrieves from "The Weather Channel" is not avail at times... and other times it is... anyone with any ideas... or am i to wait for iOS 8.1.1 release hopefully with a fix?

I'm in the same boat as you. One day it just stopped working. I've tried all the tricks, and am very hesitant to try and restore just to get that blurb back.
The problem is, it was incredibly convenient and simple. That's what other app makers just don't get, I don't need a map, I don't need a huge blurb about the weather. I SURE as heck don't want to check out videos from my drop down.
    I JUST WANT THE WEATHER.
I can't seem to find anyone really reporting on this issue, not to any serious degree. I hate that it worked and then, poof, just stopped. I can only hope this is an 8.1 bug and that another release is around the corner that will fix it, because I'm getting pretty darn fed up.

  • How to refresh notification center?

Hello guys! First time posting here but I could not find help or the answer anywhere.
I'm currently running a late 2008 Unibody Macbook Pro with 10.8.2. All software is updated and all my data is backed up. My issue is in Notification Center on the Mac (swipe over with the trackpad) I have old birthdays that came from Facebook that will not go away.
I am currently using iCloud to sync contacts and calendars and have facebook sycing turned on for contacts. I also have "show birthdays" checked in iCal. I have removed ALL accounts before and set up again and they still show up. They will disappear when I turn it off then reappear when I turn it back on. I even reomved those friends from facebook so they are not even in my contacts or iCal. Just in Notification center, and every day is show 1 day longer (ie: John Smith's Birthday 38 days ago). I feel like my notification center needs to refresh somehow.
I really don't want to do an erase and install..
Any help would be great! Thanks for your time guys.

Welcome to the community! Go ahead and try the following:
sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.notificationcenterui KeepAlive -bool false
To undo this, simply repeat the command and replace the word "false" with "true" in the command.
Change this key value from its default of "true" to "false" and save the file to disable automatic launching of the Notification Center (click for larger view).
When this edit is done, restart the system to reload the modified launch agent file, and Notification Center will now be disabled.
Just remember to restart the computer once its disabled, enable the application, then do a second restart. Let us know if it worked.

  • Is there a way to remove the notification center pull down?

My autistic son is obsessed with the notification center pull down, and can't focus on any apps. This has rendered the iPad useless for him! This has basically rendered the iPad useless for his educational purposes, and even his ability to concentrate on his favorite games. I realize this is a pretty unique issue, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a problem for at least a couple of other autistic kiddos out there? But even if my son is tho only kid wit this problem, I'm sure there must be other users out there who hate the fact that this pull down does not appear to be optional...
If anyone out there has found a way to turn this "feature" off, PLEASE pass some instructions my way! Thank you!

    Hi ChrisanneW,
I found this workaround on Chris Calabreese's blog. First the setup:
Go to the Settings app. Select General, then Accessibility.
Scroll down to the very bottom and tap the Accessibility Shortcut option.
Tap the AssistiveTouch option so there is a check mark next to it. This should be the only option with a check mark; if not, un-check the other options.
Once that’s done, here’s how to disable the Notification and Command Centers. This can be done from the home screen or within any app:
Click the Home button three times in quick succession. A black square with a white dot will appear on the screen. Tap it once.
A menu with several options will open. Tap the Home option three times in quick succession. The menu will disappear.
Your Notification and Command Centers should now be disabled. Try swiping down from the top of the screen and swiping up from the bottom to verify.
NOTE: I’ve discovered this method has one undesirable side effect. When Notification Center has been successfully disabled, your device will no longer sleep automatically. Your device’s battery will drain quickly if you’re not aware of this. If you want to disable Notification Center on a long-term basis, you will need to remember to manually put your device to sleep when you’re not using it by hitting the Sleep/Wake button. This effect is only temporary; if you re-enable the Notification Center (as outlined below), the device will sleep automatically once again. Because of this, I would recommend disabling Notification Center only when you really need to (when playing a game, for example), then re-enable it when you’re finished.
If you wish to enable them again, here’s how:
Click the Home button three times in quick succession. The black square with a white dot will appear; this time ignore it.
Click the Home button again three times in quick succession. The black square with a white dot will disappear and your Notification and Command Centers should be working again.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • Is there a way to keep the notification center on the side bar for Yoshimite

I have a duo screen and it will be really convenient if the notification center is always there on the side for one of my screen. However, every time I click on something else, it disappears. Is there a way to permanently keep my notification on the side?

You can poke around yourself,  but right off I do not see how this is possible in customizing the plist.
    Finder>Go>Go to folder>
    /System/Library/CoreServices/Notification Center.app
You can right click to open> Show Package Content.

  • No widgets in Yosemite notification center

I can only view the weather in the notification center.  The only other widget that can be enabled is Social.  I had stocks, calendar, and the calculator all working with Public Beta 6.  Does anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

Same issue here. All widgets were there in all betas. But then I installed the Mac App Store version and all widgets disappeared except for Social.

  • Why aren't my accepted Photo Streams showing in my notification center or my iPhoto?

I recently accepted 2 Photo Streams. They showed up in my notification center, and by clicking them in the NC I was able to access them (They popped up in the "flagged" section of my iPhoto). Now, my NC shows nothing and the Shared Photo Streams have not been turned off by the sharer. Additionally, the photo streams are not under the "flagged" section of my iPhoto. Is there a setting I'm missing? Any ideas?

Another quick question: is there a limit to how many times you can open a shared photo stream? Because after opening them a few different times through my NC, they disappeared.
