Notification Center ignoring Calendar defaults

Small quirk, but this appears to be a bug in Notification Center.
If Calendars are set to display in the Notification Center, it appears that the Notification Center displays all calendars -- even if the default in the Calendar program itself is to only display certain limited calendars.
For example, by default, in the Calendar application, I never have the "Birthdays" calendar view set to display.  However, Notification Center appears to ignore that preference.  Birthdays appear in Notification Center, and there does not appear to be any way to suppress unwanted calendar views.
Any workarounds or just a bug that will need to await a fix?

Me too. All I see is that I have one all-day event scheduled for tomorrow.
Instead of telling me that how about telling me what the event is?

  • Is it a bug that I'm seeing entries in the Notification Center for calendars that I've unchecked?

I have unchecked one of the calendars in the Calendar app ... but when I pull down the notification center (either on iPad or iPhone), I still see entries for the unchecked calendar there.  I would think that notifications only happen for calendars that I'm interested in.   Is this a bug?

Frustrating that now as we are at iOS 5.1.1 there is still no fix for the issue.  I called Apple a little while back and the representitive made a mention as to that this was a 'feature' of the notification center and not a bug.  I think 'features' are supposed to make for better usability, not an inability to use a function.  With that said.. any workarounds?  Right now, I'm doing the following:  My brother and my wife both share their calendars with me, iCloud to iCloud.  I started two iCloud accounts, one for the intended purpose of iCloud (syncing all of my calendar events, contacts, etc.)  and one simply for their calendars to be shared to.  I've included that iCloud account only on my iPad and turned off calendars in the notification center on the iPad.  So if I want to see their calendars I can now use my iPad for that purpose.
Please also send a bug report to Apple if this issue is bothering you --- discussion forums are just that, for discussion.
Thanks for any advice you can provide about the above and for any other work-arounds!

  • Fine tuning notification center and Calendar delegates

I have a bunch of delegates in my calander from my google calendar account all of the enabled delegates are shown in my notification center. I would like to be able to fine tune which enabled delegates are shown in my notification center because a few of the delegates are things I dont need to see in my notifications.
Is there a way for me to be able to do this?

Did you ever find out if this is possible? I would very much like to do the same thing, so would be interested to know if this can be done.
    Thanks.

  • Can I change the default reminder list in the Notifications Center?

So far, the only list I can seem to display in the notification center is the default list called Reminders. Is there a way to set one of the other reminder lists I've created to display instead? Thanks in advance for your help!

I've been playing with this in DateBk6 and have yet to figure out how to set a default event category.

  • Reminders not showing up in "tomorrow summary" of Notification Center

The "tomorrow summary" of the Notification Center showes calendar events but not reminders.  It will just say "You have no events scheduled for tomorrow", even when I do have reminders scheduled for tomorrow.  Am I doing something wrong?  Is this normal?  If so, it's really dumb to show one but not the other...
Just to be clear, both reminders and calendar events show up fine in the "today summary".  It's the "tomorrow summary" that has the problem.

Well, I just tested this on mine, and do not get a reminder to show up in the Tomorrow Summary. To be honest, I've never looked there before when I have something scheduled, so I'm not sure that it is supposed to show. You can check the User Guide here to see if it will answer your question http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf or you can look at this support document about Notifications. iOS: Understanding notifications  If it is not possible to view Reminders in the Tomorrow Summary and you would like to see that enhancement, then you can provide feedback to Apple here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • Events past 5 in the notification center in ios 7?

Just upgraded to iOS 7.  In notification center, my calendar stops at 5 pm, not showing any events after that.  Is there a way to get those to show?
    iPad 4, iOS 7

Ok; it looks like it will show events past 5 pm, but what it does is only show about a 5 hour block.  Is there any way to change that, or is this simply something that can't be customized?

  • Notification center not saving preferences

    OSX10.10 MacBook Pro, 2.8 GHz, i7, 4 GB
I have most notifications turned off.  When I reboot, the Notification Center resets to defaults.  Won't save my prefs.  Anyone else find this and hopefully have a solution?  Thanks.

Here are the instructions I got from AppleCare from an Apple Engineer. I'm not sure if the fix was specifically for my machine or if it'll work for someone else. Follow at your own risk.
    1. Open the Library folder in your Home folder.
    2. In the Library folder, open the Application Support folder.
    3. Locate the folder named NotificationCenter. Drag this folder to the desktop.
    4. Next, open the Terminal application.
Copy and paste each line of these commands into the Terminal window, in order. Press return after each line:
    cd `getconf DARWIN_USER_DIR`
    rm -rf com.apple.notificationcenter
    killall usernoted; killall NotificationCenter
    5. Close the Terminal app.
    6. Restart your computer.
The notification preference changes won't stick until you restart a 2nd time after this.

  • Changing the calendar displayed for "Today" in the Notification Center

When I swipe down to see the notification center, it always tells me 'No Events' for today. However, I have an Exchange Calendar that is synced where are all of my real meetings are.
How do I get those to display in the Notification Center? It appears to only be showing my iCloud calendar instead. I've checked and the default calendar under my Mail/Contacts/Calendar settings is my Exchange calendar.
    Thanks

Strange, my Exchange calendar shows in the Today view, as does my icloud personal calendar.  Have you tried a reset of the iPad?

  • Calendar information other than iCloud is not showing in Notification center from Mails such as Gmail, Exchange, Yahoo

    Hi,
After iOS 6 update on iPhone 4S I'm unable to see any information on Notification Center regarding any calendar information from mail boxes such as Gmail, Yahoo, Exchange server etc. But, calendar information is available only from iCloud mail box.
Please help me to get the calendar information in Notification center from mail boxes other than iCloud too.
    Regards,
    Srini

Read thier own support document on the subject then
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1795
This document was written as an answer to all those who complained about it as paying MobileMe users
They ignored us then and when MobileMe became iCloud they ignored us again, and just carried on with a system that will not update the e-mail read status across all devices
That's how it works,   and like you 1000's of loyal Apple users cant believe it either but there you go

  • Limit Siri & Notification Center to One Calendar

Is there a way to limit Siri and Notifiation Center to just my default calendar?  My compnay has several shared exchange calendars that I need to be able to access on my phone, but I also don't want 20 calendar appointments showing up in my notification center or when I ask Siri.  Even when those calendars are unchecked in the calendar app, they still show up in these places.  The only way to stop this from happening is to turn off the calendars option on the exchange account in settings, which is not an option.  Any ideas?

Seems to be a "feature" or bug depends on your view point.
Either way it needs to be fixed.
There seems to be quite a few complaints of the same issue.

  • Notification Center Calendar Icon is poor quality

Has anyone else experienced a really low resolution and black and white calendar icon in the notification center on the right? After upgrading from Lion this morning I wonder if I had a corrupt download or something else.

Any idea how to get it back to normal?

Please ignore this. I restarted several times in a row and that seemed to fix it!

  • Duplicate Birthday calendar entries in Notification Center

I have many contacts' birthdays saved with their contact info.  This created two calendars: one "Birthdays" calendar in iCal on my Mac, and one "Birthdays" calendar in my iPhone's Calendar app.  I want to keep each of these in their respective places.
    Here's my problem:
Both show up in Notification Center.  For example, my friend Bryan's birthday is tomorrow, and it shows twice in the Notification center (once, pulled from the iOS Calendar; the other, synced from iCal).
I've disabled the imported calendar from displaying in the Calendar app (so I only see iOS's "native" entry listed on my calendar).  But it still shows both in Notification Center!  Any ideas how I can get rid of the duplicate NC entry, without deleting the calendar itself from either source?

  • Duplicated calendar events on Notifications Center

I have recently upgrade my 3GS with iOS 5.  On my notifications center, I am getting duplicated notifications of all my Calendar events on the Notifications Center. I have gone into the Calendar and made sure there is no calendar that is checked and displayed twice, but this still did not fix the problems.  Anyone know how to correct this?

I have the same issue--it's clearly that one set is from Mobile Me and one set is on My Mac. I solved this by turning off all my calendars on My Mac. If I change the Mobile Me calendars, they sync properly. The only bummer is that I can't edit these events on my iPad, but at least I don't have duplicate events! I haven't had the guts to delete the calendars yet, I just unclicked them in the list...

  • How to choose which calendars are in notification center?

I have just installed Mountain Lion, and am finding that notification center will notify me when someone adds an event on an iCloud calendar that has been privately shared with me. I would rather just receive notifications about my own calendars (and just look in iCal when I want to see the shared calendar). Is there a way to set a preference on this?

    Yes.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • How can I only have certain calendars in notification center?

So I received an iPad 2 for Christmas (I know a step behind but I'm not complaining) and for the most part it is AWESOME!  I synced everything fairly easily and if I had any trouble I could find a solution online in mere minutes.  What I have discovered though is that my all my shared calendars show in the notification center.  I use google calendar and I will not be switching to another.  I like it.  I utilize shared calendars so my family and friends stay connected but I don't want to see all 6 shared calendars events in my notification center.  At this point this feature is pretty useless to me.  I also have an issue with my one calendar not showing certain things in notification center. It is 1pm now and my 3pm-2am event is not showing in there.  If there is a way to fix all this please let me know.  If not now can I report a request to apple to express my desire to have those functionalities? :)
