Notification center weather

Where does this information come from? Is there any way to customize it? The information that comes up is just plain wrong. It doesn't help that the area I live in is the definition of microclimate (three miles east can be 5-10 degrees warmer), but other weather apps can adjust to my zip code. Why can't this one?
I do have Weather turned on under location services and I've tried adding a different weather app (TWC) to the notification center. Neither worked.

But where is the weather app? I've searched the iPad and it doesn't show up. The only thing that comes up is TWC, and turning to on doesn't help. I've tried downloading a third weather app, but it doesn't show up as an option in the Notification Center.
I don't live in a rural area - the La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego - and the weather I'm seeing is a good 10 degrees higher than it is.

  • Why no clock or notification center weather?

Would be such an easy thing to add... And it seems that with the popularity of the iPad that they'd want full functionality. Syncing alarms between devices might be a cool idea too. Call it iClock!

    Skydiver119,
Could you elaborate on what apps you are referring to?
I cannot find any apps that will put stock quotes on the notification screen like the iPhone.
I did find that the free AccuWeather iPhone app will enable the weather forcast but it is not graphical so therefore not the same.
    Thanks!

  • IOS 8.1 Weather App/Notification Center

I'm currently using iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5c and since i have upgraded i have noticed that, randomly, the native weather app looses its detailed information. Sometimes i can view the details (sunrise, sunset, chance of rain, humidity, etc..) other times it disappears... further, once its disappeared i have noticed the notification center weather update is also missing... very frustrating... I have reset the phone a few times and it seems to solve the problem for a short time, but the issue returns. All the appropriate location settings are on and in place... its almost like the data the phone retrieves from "The Weather Channel" is not avail at times... and other times it is... anyone with any ideas... or am i to wait for iOS 8.1.1 release hopefully with a fix?

I'm in the same boat as you. One day it just stopped working. I've tried all the tricks, and am very hesitant to try and restore just to get that blurb back.
The problem is, it was incredibly convenient and simple. That's what other app makers just don't get, I don't need a map, I don't need a huge blurb about the weather. I SURE as heck don't want to check out videos from my drop down.
    I JUST WANT THE WEATHER.
I can't seem to find anyone really reporting on this issue, not to any serious degree. I hate that it worked and then, poof, just stopped. I can only hope this is an 8.1 bug and that another release is around the corner that will fix it, because I'm getting pretty darn fed up.

  • Why can't I see weather in the notification center on my iphone 5?

Why can't I see weather in the notification center on my iphone 5? I have Todays Summary turned on and Accuweather app included in view. However, when I pull down my notification center, weather is not displayed. Location services is turned on for Accuweather.

Thank you! That worked... I didn't even remember I had that app on the phone .

  • Notification Center widgets are missing

I have a late 2010 iMac and a mid 2012 Macbook Air.  I have installed Yosemite on both, and while the iMac works like a charm, the Macbook Air is missing the notification center calendar, stocks, clock, calculator, reminders and weather widgets.  If I log in with a guest account, they show up, but not if I log in with my regular account.  Anyone else experienced this?  Any ideas?
    Thanks

I never understood why Apple didn't include these apps for the iPad. While I don't use the Stocks app on a regular basis, it is a quick interface to a small set of stocks. The Weather app is a quick glance into my local weather.
Now, if I want to use Notification center, weather and stocks will not show up like it does on my iPhone. Dear Apple, maybe it's time you help us iPad users!

  • Notification Center For iPad

    Hello Everyone,
How to change the Notification Center Weather (Farenheit To Celcius)

The way to change it is very cumbersome to say the least.
In theory it should be manageable from the Clock App Weather setting, but unfortunately it doesn't work from there. The setting there seems to have no effect on anything I can find.
The only way I have found to change it is by going into Settings->General->International->Region Format.  And choose a region that uses Celsius instead of Farenheit.  Then it will change the format in Notification Center.

  • Weather App that reports to your notification center at a specified time?

    Here's the scenario:
I work outdoors and live in the Midwest so the weather can and often does vary A LOT from day to day.
I plug my iPad in for the night and go to sleep.
When I wake up, I hit the home button to see my notification center. Contained there is the report from this weather app, telling me the basic information immediately: Current temperature, the day's high/low, any preciptiation chance.
Now here's the added bonus that I really want:
Everyone knows the temperature changes drastically from night to day, so a temperature reading would need to be taken near to the time that you wake up. What if you could set this app to display the information at a certain time? It's a concept just like an alarm where an action is triggered at a specified time, in this case, weather readings. Say I'm getting up at 6am. I'd set the app to report at 5:55am or something like that.
OR the much simpler apprach would just be to add a weather widget of some sort to the lock screen. If that's an option, I'd gladly go for that as well.
So does anything like this exist?
    Thanks to all!
    [EDIT]
I found the solution to my question. I had a feeling it was something really easy that I was just missing. Thanks! Feel free to delete this thread. I would but I'm not sure how or if I even can.

You are correct that things would be easier if it was automatic. However, you will generally find that it is a program with a built-in scheduler, such as a backup program or a video recording program, that left some code behind even if the program was trashed or removed from the system.
As far as the PDP11, I don't think I could afford the electricity to run one even if I had one. The PDP11 is the first computer I was exposed to in medical imaging. I list it because every once in a while it draws out the truth from folks like yourself when they admit to knowing what one is.
I think the first disk drives that thing used were housed in recycled washing machines using the old motors to drive the spindles.

  • Weather not shown in Notification center in iOS 7

I recently upgrade to iOS 7 on my iPhone 5 and noticed upon restoring the OS and setting up as a new iPhone there is text weather and tomorrow summary in the notification center. But as soon as I restored the phone backup there's no text weather between the data and calendar in the notification center. Also there's no "tomorrow summary" either. I toggled the "Today summary" & "tomorrow summary" in Settings-Notification center and enabled native weather app in background app refresh and location service. I am very frustrated by this. I am sure there is a way that I can use my backup and have a functioning notification center. Can anyone please share some insight into this?

My notification center looks like this...
I pulled up and down and nothing happened.

  • Weather forecast in notification center

    Hello,
In Yosemite (on my MBP early 2008), the town of the weather forecast (with an arrow pointing to north east) is not my actual residence, but a previous one. Yet in Maps or in Date & Time pref panel, the location service works properly. It's strange because in the notification center, the text with details of the forecast matches my actual residence, but the icon with the arrow gives the town of my ancient place.
How can I correct that ? Thanks.

Problem solved : I have put the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.ncplugin.weather to the trash. It has been automatically recreated and the city of the meteo is now correct.

  • Repost: Where is the Weather widget in the iOS 7 Notification Center?

I will award ten points to a verified "no" or "yes" with a brief explanation how to enable.
I understand it is not a full widget, but that's what Apple used to call it in iOS 5 and 6. Anyway, let me give more information. I cleared all of my notifications. This means that the All and Missed tabs are completely empty. Swiping to the left and right just brings me to these empty menus. I have everything turned on except for Stocks in the Notification Center. My "Today" view consists of Today Summary, Calendar Day View, and the Tommorow Summary tab at the very bottom. There is no mention at all about Weather at all in Settings>Notification Center, which leads me to think Apple just dumped this feature. Can anyone verify this?

The Weather is still there.  Make sure the Weather App is allowed access to Location services.
    Settings->Prvacy->Location Services->Weather.
Then Open the weather App to generate the Weather for your current location and it should appear in the Today tab under the date.
Its a Text Blurb now with no images.

  • My iPod touch 5g doesn't have weather in the notification center.

My iPod touch 5g doesn't have weather in the notification center. Neither does the weather app determines my location.
The maps also can't find the location.

You do have Location Services turned on in Settings>Privacy, right?
For location the iPod uses the location of nearby wifi routers that are in Apple's database. You do not have to be connected to the network/router to use that router's location. Thus, it appears that the iPod can't see a nearby router that is in Apple's database. Apple continuously updated their database based on info they obtain from iPhones. No one has been able to find a way to inform Apple of a router or correct is location.

  • Weather and Stocks widgets are not appearing in my notification center

I just updated my iPad 2 to iOS 5 and the weather and stock widgets are not appearing in my notification center. I tried to look for them under the notificatns tab in the settings app to activate them (which I read in an unofficial article) but they're not there. Can anyone please help?

There are plenty of apps in the App Store that can do what you want, and many are free.
There are not currently (or at least I haven't found any) any weather apps that will appear in the Notifications Center the way the included app does on the iPhone. It's not a big deal for me but I can understand the people who want it.

  • The weather widget doesn't appear in the notification center for ios7

I can't find the basic weather widget which was part of the earlier iOS in the notification center. Has it been removed or do I need to change some settings?

System Preferences/Notifications - check the setup there. Also check the daily reminder in the Reminder application.
    Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • Weather not showing up in notification center

    Hi All,
I had iOS 4 installed and updated to iOS 5.
I then loaded my backup on so I could get my contacts, apps, messages etc.
My problem is that I don't see the weather and stock widgets showing up ony m lock screen as claimed they should.
Settings are set to have them visible.
I was google around and some people suggest this is because I did a restore.
Any thoughts on this? I dont want to set up new phone and have to add in my contacts and all my setting from fresh. That is a terrible user experiance.

Are you sure they are added to your nofication center?  Check your Settings > Notifications, and then make sure Weather and Stocks are added to the "in the notification center" area.

  • I cannot view any weather info in iOS 7 Notification Center. Any ideas how to turn this widget on? Stocks and daily calendar are there, just not weather.

Location services are on. Weather app is installed. I can get weather info if I go to the app. That info is completely nonexistent in the pull down Notification Center.
    Any ideas?

Never mind.. I turned off location services for the weather app, turned it back on and now it's magically working.
