Notification center widgets crashing

I'm using a mid-2014 MBP that has been recently upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. Checking the console today, I'm seeing several crashes from my NC widgets.
Cross referencing with the console, I see:
3/23/15 3:30:30.230 PM com.apple.ncplugin.weather[37418]: plug-in sdk "com.apple.widget-extension" not registered
Same with the first two widgets, but the console log had already cleared that time frame by the time I got back.
Anybody else seeing this problem?

Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

  • Notification Center widgets are missing

I have a late 2010 iMac and a mid 2012 Macbook Air.  I have installed Yosemite on both, and while the iMac works like a charm, the Macbook Air is missing the notification center calendar, stocks, clock, calculator, reminders and weather widgets.  If I log in with a guest account, they show up, but not if I log in with my regular account.  Anyone else experienced this?  Any ideas?
    Thanks

I never understood why Apple didn't include these apps for the iPad. While I don't use the Stocks app on a regular basis, it is a quick interface to a small set of stocks. The Weather app is a quick glance into my local weather.
Now, if I want to use Notification center, weather and stocks will not show up like it does on my iPhone. Dear Apple, maybe it's time you help us iPad users!

  • IOS 5 notification center widget possibilities.

Apple should add iPod audio playback control widget to notification center....

You have to enable from the Settings > Notification > then enable it

  • Notification Center Widgets

When you open Notification Center on Yosemite and click on the App Store button when attempting to add widgets, why am I being directed to iTunes? Perhaps I am the only one, or I am missing something, but I would think it would be better to direct me to the Mac App Store. No?

Thank you for your answer Mr. Root. When I open iTunes I am shown a section to which you advise, but I see no widgets. I thought it might be a bug or something with Yosemite. Looks like there are none available at the moment then?

  • Notification center crashes - the possible fix for me - remove Twitter.

I recently updated to a new Mac, and the only issue I was having intially was Notification Center hanging and crashing the computer when I slid it over.
I don't know if others were having this problem, or just me; most of the threads I had seen about the issue were dealing with older versions of OS X (Mountain Lion or Lion)  When this hang occurred, the only way around it I had was to hard-reboot the computer, or use the "KillNotificationCenter.app" I downloaded from an older post in this forum.  The computer basically became entirely unresponsive, and often the Notification Center was half slid out when this happened.
It appeared at first to be more frequently an issue if I started the Notification Center right after waking up, but that ended up not being the case.
After experimenting a bit, I think I've figured out the problem (for me, at least), after playing around with things a bit.  I have not had a single Notification Center crash.  There may be something else at play, so I can't confirm this, but for me, all the Notification Center crashes stopped after I removed Twitter from the Notification Center.   This is the default, built in Twitter from OS X, not any Twitter applications.  I have not tried any of those.   It was not incredibly useful for me, since it only returned a minimal amount of information, and I don't in general receive a lot of DMs or mentions, etc.
I believe what originally drove me to try this was something I saw in the crash logs, but I can't find my notes.  But I can say I haven't had any problems since doing this.
Again, maybe I'm the only one, but I thought I'd pass this along in case anyone else was still having problems with Notification Center crashing.

If you literally "checked" them, meaning the checkboxes, that only affects their visibility. To remove them, select one and then click on the "minus" part of the "plus minus" at lower left.

  • Repost: Where is the Weather widget in the iOS 7 Notification Center?

I will award ten points to a verified "no" or "yes" with a brief explanation how to enable.
I understand it is not a full widget, but that's what Apple used to call it in iOS 5 and 6. Anyway, let me give more information. I cleared all of my notifications. This means that the All and Missed tabs are completely empty. Swiping to the left and right just brings me to these empty menus. I have everything turned on except for Stocks in the Notification Center. My "Today" view consists of Today Summary, Calendar Day View, and the Tommorow Summary tab at the very bottom. There is no mention at all about Weather at all in Settings>Notification Center, which leads me to think Apple just dumped this feature. Can anyone verify this?

The Weather is still there.  Make sure the Weather App is allowed access to Location services.
    Settings->Prvacy->Location Services->Weather.
Then Open the weather App to generate the Weather for your current location and it should appear in the Today tab under the date.
Its a Text Blurb now with no images.

  • Weather and Stocks widgets are not appearing in my notification center

I just updated my iPad 2 to iOS 5 and the weather and stock widgets are not appearing in my notification center. I tried to look for them under the notificatns tab in the settings app to activate them (which I read in an unofficial article) but they're not there. Can anyone please help?

There are plenty of apps in the App Store that can do what you want, and many are free.
There are not currently (or at least I haven't found any) any weather apps that will appear in the Notifications Center the way the included app does on the iPhone. It's not a big deal for me but I can understand the people who want it.

  • The weather widget doesn't appear in the notification center for ios7

I can't find the basic weather widget which was part of the earlier iOS in the notification center. Has it been removed or do I need to change some settings?

System Preferences/Notifications - check the setup there. Also check the daily reminder in the Reminder application.
    Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • No widgets in Yosemite notification center

I can only view the weather in the notification center.  The only other widget that can be enabled is Social.  I had stocks, calendar, and the calculator all working with Public Beta 6.  Does anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

Same issue here. All widgets were there in all betas. But then I installed the Mac App Store version and all widgets disappeared except for Social.

  • How to make weather widget appear in Notification Center?

I've set up various apps for notification center.  I can now see notificatoins for emails, etc. that come in after my iphone is locked.  however, how or where do the weather and stock widgets show?  They are turned on, but not showing on the lock screen.  what am i missing?  I have a 3gs.

You will not see them on the lock screen. Only on the notification screen (swipe down from the top AFTER unlocking the phone).

  • Another minor bug - calculator widget in notification center

Love the notification center and the addition of new widgets. I'm trying to phase out dash board in that way.
The only problem is the calculator widget appears, but none of the buttons works -- it's completely unusable. I've tried removing and reinstalling it, same result. Any ideas? Thanks.

No it wasn't, but I have to add that I just forced quit notification center from the activity monitor and the calculator started working again once notification center relaunched. In other words, problem solved for now. I'm a little worried this will be one like the other small problems I've had that goes in and out, but for now I'm ok. Thanks!

  • IOS 7 crashes when using notification center on iPhone 5, made App Store disappear on 4s (though still available in search)

when using notification center on iPhone 5, made App Store disappear on 4s (though still available in search). Crashes in app and in home screen. 7 crashes today.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
Also consider deleting and reinstalling the Mail Account in question.

  • Cannot add/remove clocks in Notification Center's World Clock widget.

I was trying to reverse-engineer the somewhat cryptic white/black clock face in the new World Clock widget in Yosemite's Notification Center. (It turns out that is the clock face color is white when the time is in the range 06:00 to 18:00, and black when the time is 18:00 to 06:00.) While doing this, I added new time zones by adding new clocks. After adding the eigth clock, however, I lost the ability to add or remove clocks, so now I'm stuck at eight.
I looked around ~/Library/Preferences, but could only find com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist, which governs the placement of the widgets, not their actual configuration. Seems like a bug I'll have to live with for now.
Would love to hear about a way to patch this bug (configuration file somewhere), or work around it through other means.

Oif. I just discovered that the ⓘ icon in the upper right is actually a configuration icon, and not an information icon. You need to hit that to enable the add/remove buttons for changing the selection of cities.
