I just received an email from iCloud that says I have to update my account info. It wants all of my secure info. Is this legit or a scam??
Wondering if others got this email.

It's probably fake. If desired, type in the address to Apple's iCloud site yourself instead of following the link in the email.

Call Apple Support by phone if you want to communicate with them, or post to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ if you just want them to know what you think about certain products, or sign up for a free online developer account http://developer.apple.com/ and submit bug reports to http://bugreporter.apple.com/ if you have a detailed reproducible bug with the operating system.
Have you run the hardware test that came with the Mac? See this link.
If you have a brand new Mac, it likely can't be downgraded to Snow Leopard. See what I have to say on the Snow Leopard tip at its bottom. If it is over 2 weeks old, you are beyond most store's return/exchange policy, but you should check with the store you bought at, if it is withing that range.    If it is outside that range, but less than a year old, you can buy AppleCare, for both hardware and software coverage within 3 years of date of purchase for anything that is not an accident or user caused, to deal with Apple hardware and software. Otherwise it is first 90 days for software and phone, and first year for hardware as far as free coverage.
Define "crash?" What do you see happen on screen? Is there a four language screen saying you must restart your machine? Do you just see a spinning cursor that is rainbow colored? Have you tried the command-option-escape if it is the spinning cursor to see if you can force quit the application?    Do you see text with black background come across your screen?   Or do you just see applications quit on their own and it says: "this application has unexpectedly quit, other applications are not affected, report to Apple?"

Don't know what "notification from iCloud" you mean and doubt it has to do with your "block," but try a reset by holding the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.

HT4906 How do I delete photos that were in my Camera Roll from iCloud? I deleted them on my phone, but I'm still getting the notification that my iCloud backup is almost full.

After getting the notification that my icloud backup space was running out on my iphone5, I deleted 300 photos from my Camera Roll. But it didn't increase any space in my icloud storage. How do I remove those photos from my icloud storage without deleting the rest of the Camera Roll from icloud backup?

Does this involve iPhoto for the Mac in any way?
If your backup space is full then the best souiton is to increase the amount of space you have by purchasing more since backups are critical to not losing things
You can not remove things from iCloud directly
Your question I believe belongs in the iCloud forum - possibly in the iPhone forum - unless there is somehting I do not see here it does not belonge here in the iPhoto for Mac forum

Cannot accept invites from notifications in iCloud Calendar & no notifications in iCal on iMac

Hi,
I do not get notifications for invites on Calendar application on iMAC ?
I do get invite notifications on iCloud Calendar, but when I try to accept I get an error message "Cannot save invitation reply" and so I cannot accept.

I have the same problem.
I get Gmail email with the outlook invite from business associates. New 5c won't let me accept or decline. A cascade of problems follows:
The sender and all others do not know if I'll be attending, no reply can go out on my phone.
I have to sign in on my gmail from a computer which I don't always have thus delaying.
If I need to reply asap I have to do so via an email. This makes more work for sender and affects my credibility.
I don't know all meeting attendees and can't email them all so they're left in the dark.
I have to manually put in all info to my calendar - which we know increases work, decreases efficiency and increases likelihood for error.
This is a BIG problem. Help please!!

How do I remove a device from iCloud?

Ok, this is definitely a new issue that I've experienced that I haven't seen before:
I recently sync'd my friend's iPhone 4S to my computer so he would have some music on his device. He hasn't created an Apple ID yet, and I made sure that I did not sign into his device with my Apple ID. However, now he gets notifications sent to him asking if he wants to download a song I recently downloaded on my iPad! Of course he can't because he doesn't know my Apple ID or it's password, but he's tired of getting notifications each time I download a song to my device.
I did go to www.icloud.com/find to see if his device is listed, but it's not there, so I'm not sure what to do here.

I have recently upgraded the iphone. After setting up and checking my account i discoverd that my old phones contents in the icloud were still there. This takes up 2.2g of space. I have tried to delete the account from the old iphone, deactivated from itunes and also tried to delete from icloud dashboard. It just responds with an unknown error and to try later.
Any suggestions?

How to withdraw Gmail from iCloud account?

When I first created my Apple ID, I didn’t know anything about iCloud, so I entered my Gmail ([email protected]) as my primary mail.
After this creation Apple gave me iCloud mail ([email protected]/[email protected]) which now I want to use as my primary mail and forget about Gmail forever.
Problem is: I can’t remove Gmail from my Apple ID and use iCloud mail instead, using appleid.apple.com. I’m getting message that I couldn’t "use a domain owned by Apple".
My goal is to withdraw Gmail from my Apple ecosystem and use in it only iCloud mail as primary mail for everything: for login, for getting messages and notifications from Apple, everything.
Who can help me with that?
P. S. The main reason is that I want receive important emails from Apple on my iCloud mail, not my Gmail, because I barely check my Gmail and almost forgot about its existence.
So if there is a way to make Apple send notifications not for primary email but for alternate—it would kinda solve my problem.

Fake email from "iCloud"

I received an email from "iCloud" this morning saying that my icloud storage was almost full and I should purchase more memory? Sounds like a huge scam to me.

Well, since there are no links in the email that I can see, and the email was informational only, with instructions on how to manage your iCloud storage via your own device Settings, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Seems like it was just a notification to let you know that you are just about maxed out on your iCloud storage.

Mail from iCloud in Dutch & I speak French

I live in Belgium (country where they are 3 languages : Dutch, French and German)
In fact I speak frenchso my computer & my iPhone and iCloud are in french. But when I use iCloud to localise my iphone for exemple, I receive an email from iCloud in Dutch ! That pretty borring because my dutch is really bad.
I've tried to change language on iCloud.com but mails notifications are always in dutch !
Can you help me to change that ?

Password fail message from iCloud

I Am submitting this question for my cousin, who is receiving a Password Fail message on her iPad, iPhone and MacBook. Just recently she changed her password to her Apple ID because of a possible security attack with her printer. Since then she has been receiving Password Fail Messages from iCloud. Since iCloud uses Apple ID as a login mechanism, she is unable to initiate a question to this forum.
she attempted to reset her password but when she did, she received a Security question, which she answered but she received a failure notification that her answer was incorrect. I recommended she try again and she received the same fail notification and now she is locked out And still receiving password Fail notifications.
IIs there anything this forum can recommend to remove the Fail alerts?

The SMTP server you are using with Wi-Fi would be the outgoing server of your internet service provider... this is likely why that's working.
SMTP servers specific to a ISP would not work on the 3G network. You would probably need another SMTP server. One from your cell provider?

Can't open pages from iCloud

Pages 5.2 OSX 10.9.2.
It's the 2 time I have this problem. Trying to open a pages document from iCloud. Message; can't open file "filename.pages". If i download pages can open the document. If i load it on iCloud it can't be opened. Some pollution in the cloud?I can open all documents in iCloud pages.

Backing up and restoring to / from iCloud

Two things:
1) Multiple backups... Please can we have the option to choose how many backups (of an iPhone) are kept on iCloud? Having just one backup isn't ideal, especially when you have it set to back up automatically. When I was using itunes I would always keep multiple backups just for safety.
2) Restoring... Currently as I understand it, the only way to restore an iPhone from an iCloud backup is during the initial setup phase when you begin with a fresh device... So if I decide I want to restore my phone to the last backup I have to completely erase it first and go through the setup steps in order to get the option of restoring from iCloud... that *****. Please enable people to restore from a backup without having to erase the device first. Basically it should be like iTunes where the "restore" option appears right next to the "erase / initialise" type option.

Does anyone know how to get photos from iCloud back on your iPhone?

I was having issues with my iPhone 4 not charging anymore. I went to the apple store today and ended up having to buy a replacment phone. When I was going through the set-up, I tried to do an iCloud restore but wasn't able to as the new iPhone didn't have the latest iOS 7 update. I asked the technician if I went through the set-up as a new iPhone if I was going to be able to retrieve my photos later. She said yes. So I proceeded the set-up as a new iPhone and the only thing that restored was my contacts. Am I able to somehow get my photos from iCloud and put them onto my new phone? Or are my pictures lost for good? Please help! Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to both Camera Roll photos and Photo Stream photos? If so, then you would need to do a restore of your new phone from your iCloud backup:
RESTORE FROM ICLOUD BACKUP
If you are just talking about Photo Stream photos, then once you have your iCloud account signed onto your new phone, and you have turned on Photo Stream, then the last 30 days or 1000 photos should download to your device once you are connected to Wifi. It may take some time.
