Notification Portlet in Release 2

Hi,
I'm trying to use the notification portlet that comes with release 2.
When I use it for displaying expiry notifications, it works perfectly, but when I want it to show the approval notifications, nothing shows up.
I have tried different versions on the default settings (showing 1 type at the time or all types), but have gone a little blank ;o)
Also - my approval settings should be in order.
Can anyone please help.
Regards
Pernille

The Notifications portlet is in the portlet repository under the Content category. You can add it to any portlet region on your page.

Does anyone know if it is possible to publish a text item as a portlet in release 2.
    Feedback appreciated

    Hy, i hope this helps:
I made a subpage with an item, i deleted the banner of this page.
This page should be registered as a portlet.
Then i added this page(the portlet) to my page.

  • Expected behavior of the Exchange portlets in release 2

I've installed the Exchange portlets in release 2 successfully. Everything works - Inbox, Calendar, Contact list. However when you update the portlet with required information i.e. Inbox user name, server, # of message rows, the portlet displays the view, but once you go to a different page and then decide to return to the page with the Exchange portlets, you need to enter that very same information again. Is this the way it is suppose to work???
    Please share your experiences.
    Thanks,
    r/ George

    George,
This may be a pain for you, but could you please walk me through the steps that you took to get the exchange portlets working? We are trying to install the exchange5.5 portlets. We are currently using Portal release 9.2.1.2.14 (i think that's it - latest release) and have upgraded to 9.0.2.4 via the December PDK we downloaded. We have also made the appropriate setup to the IIS/Exchange server and can view the test.asp pages that were provided. Do you need to deploy an .ear file on OC4J for the exchange5.5 portlets like you do for the exchange2000 portlets? Any help would be appreciated and we have read the documentation included with the Dec. pdk.zip release to no avail. Thank you.

  • How to create events for My Notifications Portlet

    Hi,
The "My Notifications" portlet has no events. How can I create an event for this ?
The scenario is that when "My Notifications" portlet shows a message, this event should activates other portlet, say SMS portlet to send a SMS to user notified him/her that there was an message in his/her Notification page.
How can I archive this ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Pasapula
When you are in the View Cluster maintenance dialog (SE54) click on dialog "Events".
Below the field for the view cluster you have an additional field <b>FORM routines main program</b>. There you have to add the main program containing the FORM routines called by the VC events.
For example: I had defined a normal report containing an include with all the FORM routines. The report contains only the following lines of coding:
    report zus_0120_u1.
    * Common Data und access routines for user exits in VC maintenance
    include LSVCMCOD.
include  zus_0120_f1. "FORM routines for VC events
Now in the "Events" dialog of the view cluster maintenance you assign your FORM routines to the events.

  • Customizing notifications portlet

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to customize the Notifications Portlet in 9.0.2?
We would like to show more columns in the portlet other than Type, Subject, Path, etc.
    Is it a PL/SQL portlet? Since I found a package wwsbr_notification_portlet.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

If you don't want user to customize than don't use My Favorites, which is intended for customization. Create your own portlet containing the links you want statically.

  • UMS Portlet (Beta Release) available for download

    What are we announcing?
The beta release of the Unified Messaging Service (UMS) portlet is available for download on Portal Studio from Integration Solutions page. The UMS Portlet makes available to Oracle9iAS Portal users the abilities to send SMS messages, Emails, Voice notifications, Fax and WAP Push messages on a single web interface. These messaging capabilities are provided by the Oracle Notification Service (ONS, formerly the Push Service). By hosting this portlet, you automatically get a free trial account with the ONS service. Please send your comments, suggestions, and evaluations of this beta release on this discussion forum.
    How can I use it?
The Oracle Notification Service (formerly known as Push Service) is an Oracle online service that allows Oracle9i Application Server Wireless and Oracle9iAS Portal users to send SMS messages, Emails, Voice notifications, Fax and WAP Push messages in an easy to access manner without installing any new software. The Oracle Notification Service is hosted at Oracle's data centers and is managed and maintained 24x7 by highly skilled staff. Users connect to it as a Web Service using an XML SOAP API over HTTP/HTTPS. The UMS portlet abstracts this communication and multiprotocol, multidevice complexities for the Oracle9iAS Portal users.
An Oracle9iAS Portal user can sign up for this service and pay per usage. The user of this portlet would need to register and get an account with Oracle9iAS Wireless Service. However, to encourage the use of this service, a trial account of 500 units per IP address has been permitted. For purchasing more units and know more about the pricing mechanism, you can send an e-mail to [email protected]
More information on Oracle9iAS Wireless and Oracle Notification Service is available at http://otn.oracle.com/products/iaswe/content.html
Currently, this portlet allows sending SMS, Voice Mails, E-mails, Fax and WAP Push Messages. Future extensions will include support for Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS).
Using this portlet, a portal user can send the same message as an SMS to people who have mobile phones, as an Email to those who would be at office, as a Voice mail to an employee who is at home and doesn't have access to Emails or mobile phones. For example, this portlet can be used in a hospital web site where the staff can send instant requests to the doctors or can be used in a financial portal which informs users about the changes in his/her stock prices on the device they wish.
    How do I get it?
This portlet is available through the Portal Integration Solutions page (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=3189&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO) on Portal Studio. You can download this portlet from the Download Integration Portlets page (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=3191&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO). You would be asked to enter your OTN user details to download the portlet.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Not getting Email notification upon blanket release was created

    Hi,
We are on Oracle EBS 11.5.10 and we have blanket release created by importing PO requisition, and ASL Supplier-Item's Release Method is "Automatic Release". Once the blanket release is created, there is no email notification sent out based on Supplier notification method?
Now the notification is working for items with release method set to "Release Using AutoCreate" and for regular POs. But we need the "Automatic Release" items to create notification to send to suppliers as well. Anyone has experience to get that to work?
    Thanks!
    Mike.

All the regular communication methods (print, fax, email) are spawned from the Approval workflow process.
If the requisition line is sourced to a local BPA and if the ASL release generation option is set to "Automatic Release" then the concurrent request to create the release. This concurrent request will always create the approved releases; the system does not even launch the approval process. So none of the communication methods are triggered. Usually this option is used with batch communication methods like EDI or daily scheduled printed reports (Printed PO Report with NEW documents option).
If the ASL option is set to "Automatic Release/Review" option then the concurrent request "Create Releases" creates releases in incomplete status. The buyers can then review them and manually submit it for approval. As part of this approval, the communication options can be selected.
if the ASL option is set to "Release using Autocreate" then the requisition should be either manually created into a release. Optionally if the "Create Documents" workflow is setup that workflow can also create the releases. In the "Create Documents" workflow there is an option to launch the Release approval process. The "Create Documents" workflow never sets the documents to approved status automatically. So the releases created using "Create Documents" workflow will go through Release approval workflow and can leverage the communication methods.
If you "have to" use the "Automatic Release" then you might need to leverage the standard batch communication methods / provide your own batch communication methods. When the document is communicated (Printed PO Report or EDI and etc), system updates the print count (increment) and print_date (sysdate) in the po_headers / po_release table. Thus when it is scheduled in a batch, it can determine the NEW documents (no print count at-all) and CHANGED documents (print count is one more from archive, but the revision number is same as the one in archive). If you are providing your own communication method, you can also try using similar model.

  • Release notification after one releases

    Hi,
I've the scenario that there r 6 approvals and if 1st person releases,
then a notification has to go for 2nd person for his mail id..? Anyone know
    how to do it..?
    Thanks,
    MB

    Hi MB,
Please read the forum guidelines to find out the best way to ask questions and get the best result.
You don't give much info on your setup. In which process are you approving? Maybe your requirement could be fulfilled from the customizing, whilst we are giving all kinds of answers in how to solve it in workflow.
You say that there is only one step? Without a loop you will only get one task which only have to be approved by one person, I would say.
For your e-mail notifications you can use RSWUWFML2 or extended notifications depending on your release. Both are discussed thoroughly before, so try the search functionality.

  • Notifications in Release 2

    All,
Anyone find a way to get the notifications working in Release 2 of OCS?
Rumor was they were going to tie it into the smtp servers on OCS but they are not working.
Everything else seems to work fine in the new release.
    Thanks,
    Dennis

Like I said before, notifications need sendmail to be configured. If you are using outlook connector your users will recieve meeting acceptance alerts and reminders. However this is different from the actual email notification sent from calendar.
When a meeting (not the only event) is created in calendar an email notification is sent to the various attendees. In order for this email notification to be sent you need to configure sendmail. There is an issue I have come accross in release 2 (which wasn't there in release 1), when the email notification is sent from calendar it takes 6 minutes to be sent to the attendes. This can be verified by creating a meeting. and running unireqdump. You will find that for some reason the email notification has been queued and will be sent after 6 minutes. Apparently a later release will address this issue. Bottom line, if you're talking about email notifications from calendar you need to configure sendmail.

    Hi Luke and Maheshwaran ,
    thanx for your reply.
One more thing the option 2 has not been suggested by some users in the thread mentioned by Maheshwaran.
Can I still use BS22 or option 1 is the best one.

  • Visual Studio Online / Release Management Email Notifications

We use Visual Studio Online and not a local TFS instance. Additionally we want to / ARE using the Release Management service.  But, we are having difficulties configuring the Email notifications within Release Management.    We have steps
configured  for email notification on step approval.  BUT we are not getting any of these notifications and the Releases get stuck waiting during these steps.  And only if by sheer dumb luck the user logs into his/her Release Management window
do they see that they have pending approvals...
What do we need to do in order to get these approvals flowing?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Thank you for reaching out to us. I am currently researching to gather more information with regards to your request. I shall revert back to you with an update at the earliest. Sincerely appreciate your patience.

  • How to Obtain Notifications of New Flash Releases

    Hello:
Sorry if this has already been posted [I looked in the FAQ and "Read This First" sections] or if this isn't the right place to post [I couldn't figure out how to submit this to Adobe support] this type of inquiry, but I would like to know how I can receive notifications of upcoming Flash releases.
I have recently signed-up to be able to distribute Flash [not sure if Adobe sends new release notifications with this service], have subscribed to the security alerts notifications [that may not always provide notification of new releases] and signed up to receive Adobe update notifications when I created my Adobe profile, so I could submit this post [I'm hoping the later will provide the new release notification stream I'm looking for].
If none of the options [above] will provide me with new release information or there is a better "stream" for these types of notification [e.g. RSS feeds] and some one could let me know what that is, I would greatly appreacite it.
    Thanks,
    Robert Lindholm

    eidnolb:
Thank you for taking the time to respond to this post; it's sounds like I should [hopefully] be receiving update notifications through one of these streams.
Essentially, I wantr to know when a Flash update is available, so I can proactively update client computers I manage, since the end users don't have the abilityu to approve [install] the updates themselves.
While supressing the update would hide the udpate from end users, I would like to be able to apply the update ASAP for security and usability reasons.
Thank you again for your reply, I appreciate it.

    Hi,
I want to know if it is possible to send an email to approvers when an item comes to their Notification portlet. Is there a built-in process or do we have to code it in the database?
