Notifications in iCal

Hi,
I need some help with iCal. Basically I have created a new calendar that. In this calendar I have 2 event that should be running an app I have created in automator. But the jobs doesn't run? I have tried to create an event in another calendar and setup a notification message to be fired 2 minutes before - but again this doesn't work either? So it seem that iCal simply wont work with notifications?
I am using Lion with all the recent updates. I am open for any kind of suggestions. Is there a log for iCal where I might be able to see what is wrong?

Don't anyone have any suggestions to this?
To elaborate - I have set my MacBook Pro to wake up from hibernate at 6 p.m and the alarms should go off at 6.15 and 6.20.

  • No email recipient selection when sending an alarm notification in iCal

Hi! I apologize if this question has been previously asked within this forum but a user here in the office is experiencing a particular problem with email alarm notifications in iCal 3.0.8.
This particular user is using version 3.0.8 of iCal and has imported several different calendars from past users in the office. I do know we've had some trouble with different versions of iCal not working together, which might be part of this problem, but here's what we're experiencing:
Although this user has a vast address book, there is only one lone email recipient that pops up under the "email" list when editing an event - it's my particular email address, as I'm in everyone's address book as the IT contact and usually key in my information as the contact whenever I'm installing OS X on a particular machine.
We have tried manipulating entries in all of the previously defined calendar(s) in addition to setting up a brand new calendar file. Regardless, this single email address is the only one that's available for selection.
I have further tried deleting the .plist file associated with iCal and have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application without any luck.
Before I do a clean install of the OS on this machine, does anyone have any advice? Many thanks!

    Greetings,
Sounds more like an addressbook issue to me.
What happens in a new user account on the same computer?

  • Culprit for no email notification in iCal?

Can anyone decipher this console message? This might be why I'm not getting email notifications from iCal:

    owner = (

    sound = Hero;
    triggerduration = -86400;
    }

I also can't get iCal email alarms to work anymore.

  • How to cancel email notifications in ical?

    Please help.
I share a work calendar with a colleague via ical and syncing via mobile me.
When I as the "owner" of the calendar send or update an event in ical my colleague recieves an email notification.
I update the calendar many times each day and each time an email notification is recieved by my colleague in mac mail....this is proving very boring and unnecessary and meaning he is getting more than 50 emails a day referring to our shared calendar .
Is there any way to cancel these email notifications as we always have our calendars open and can see the updates  / changes?
    Many thanks

I have the exact same problem. No one out there with a solution??
    thanx

    Hi,
From the calendar list on the left in Calendar select the calendar you don't want notifications from. Then press Cmd-I (get info) and in the panel that appears check the 'Ignore alerts' option.
    Best wishes

  • Not receiving email notifications of iCal event invitations from other parties.

I am not receiving emails for iCal event invitations from other parties, but the invitations ARE in my iCal Inbox. I don't use iCal often, so I never proactively go in to check my Inbox there, but rather have always depended on receiving the email notification of an event invite to know to add it to my iCal. I can SEND invitations to others successfully with other parties receiving MY email notifications, I'm just not receiving them via email.
I've now missed two very important meetings because I never received the email invitations to add an event, which were the only forms of correspondence for both. Can anyone help me? Thank you!

  • Push notification with ical server to known Attendees of the OD

    Hello Apple-Community.
I have a Problem with the Push-Invitations of my Mac Server.
    Here´s my background:
    - MAC OS X 10.6.4 as Mail-Server, Ical-Server, OD-Master
    - Ical and Thunderbird Lightning 1.02b as Calendar-Clients
    My Problem:
Every Attendee in my Calender-System with an E-Mail, listet in the OD under the field "mail" eg. "EMailAddress" doesn´t get any Invites via E-Mail. If I delete the EMailAdress in my OD, the user gets an E-Mail-Invitation.
    My target:
I want modify the System. The Push-Notification-Server shall send always an E-Mail to every Attendee of an appointment.
I would modify the appropriate configuration file but I have really no idea, where I can search.
I hope, that someone can help me.
    Best regards.
    Ornaminer

I have a very similar configuration with all PC Thunderbird/Lightning clients. I need the same resolution, but think that an add-on to Thunderbird/Lightning that would accept the event push notifications and allow a response is also a solution. Is there anyone how can develop such an add-on?
    Cheers,
    Steve

  • Is there a way to turn off calendar notifications for ical and outlook when the program is not active?

Hi - i'm finding these to be a little bit annoying, anyone know how to do this?  The Outlook ones bug me more than the iCal ones.  Also, i'm wondering if that is hurting battery life to have that running the background.

I'd install Better Touch Tool (free). Add two gestures for Finder ONLY that have "No action" associated with them. This disbales pinch/zoom on the desktop AND in any Finder window, but not in any other application.
If you'd like to occasionally use pinch to zoom in the Finder (to zoom into a photo thumbnail for example), then add two more gestures, again for Finder ONLY - but this time also selecting one of the modifier keys (e.g. "Option" key). For these gestures set as "Use Apple Default or do nothing".
Together, this enables disabling of the zoom feature (to prevent accidental zooming of the desktop icons for example). But whenever you'd like to zoom into a document or photo etc in a Finder Window (which are also now disabled), you can now simply hold down "Option" key and the Pinch functions work again.
This solution works for me on 10.6.8

  • Cannot accept invites from notifications in iCloud Calendar & no notifications in iCal on iMac

    Hi,

    I have the same problem.
I get Gmail email with the outlook invite from business associates. New 5c won't let me accept or decline.  A cascade of problems follows:
The sender and all others do not know if I'll be attending, no reply can go out on my phone.
I have to sign in on my gmail from a computer which I don't always have thus delaying.
If I need to reply asap I have to do so via an email. This makes more work for sender and affects my credibility.
I don't know all meeting attendees and can't email them all so they're left in the dark.
I have to manually put in all info to my calendar - which we know increases work, decreases efficiency and increases likelihood for error.
This is a BIG problem. Help please!!

  • No invitation notification in iCal

When I receive an invitation that was created in iCal from another Mac and Mobile Me user (in the same family account even), it shows up on my mobile me web page, on my iphone, and on my ipad but it does not show up on my ical.
i've reset sync settings, refreshed, gone offline and back online.
i get the email notifying me of the invite and it clearly states "To reply to this invitation, use Calendar on iPhone or iPod touch (with iOS4), iCal on a Mac (with Mac OS X 10.6.4), or visit me.com and use the calendar web application on a Mac or PC."
i'm up to date with all software and running OS X 10.6.8
of course i can go and accept the invitation on my iphone or even log into mobile me but why won't it work with ical when it should?

I also can't get iCal email alarms to work anymore.

  • ICal Email Notifications

I have had this problem for years, but I'm finally searching for an answer.  I get this message when trying to set up an email notification in iCal "You must add your own card and email address in Address Book to be able to use mail alerts."
I have went to all places (mail, iCal, address book) and their preferences and NOWHERE do I see somewhere for me to "add my own card."
    I'm lost :-).
    Thanks in advance

    Hey there,
I had the same issue and was able to find the answer in another discussion.
You just need to highlight the card in Address Book and then choose "Make This My Card" in the "Card" menu.
    Best,
    Tom

  • Icon bounces and iCal crashes immediately in Leopard

I did not even have a chance to check email notification issues.
iCal fails to open since 10.5 upgrade.
the icon bounces in the dock, iCal windows fleshes for a split of a second - and that is it. Apparently, something tells iCal to quit, as it is not noticed by the system as failure. I do not get the usual report to Apple thing after other crashes.
I tried deleting all my iCal files (calendars, plists, calendar entries, iSync files), but the only change is, after the first run, the iCal launches and quits much faster.
Creating other account makes it possible to run iCal over there, so one of my original user files or permissions is perhaps corrupt.

I was in the same boat with iCal crashing after install of Leopard. And I may have an answer for you.
    Observations:
Like you I tried the deletion of related caches and preferences, but also went through a reinstall of iLife '06 to no avail. There seemed to be another symptoms to the problem. When connecting my iPod to iTunes the Contacts tab shows syncing of calendars is not checked. When attempting to reestablish the sync, a message replies that there are no calendars available.
    What worked for me:
1 Remove the calendars from your user library to the desktop.
    2 Start ical
3 When the Blank calendar shows up go to File and import each of your calendars from the desktop.
    Good Luck
